Classic Tonkatsu that seldom fails one especially with Rosu and Hire. Salmon isn’t that bad. We would however not order Kara again. Gonna try the platter next time.

Hidden Omakase gem in the heart of orchard road. Husband and I came for our anniversary dinner and what a pleasant surprise. Fish was super fresh, service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. Besides the food, highly recommend the house brewed plum wine which was not too sweet and a perfect complement to the meal. Highly recommend to all sushi lovers!

One of my fave restaurants to get my tonkatsu craving satisfied. I love their rose and hire katsu set which offers both the more lean and more fatty cuts. Accompanied with a side order of Japanese curry, and my meal is complete :)

Had one of the best Japanese Omakase meals here. Experience was great from beginning to the end i.e. from the website and looking at the menu to reserving a place, making changes in our reservation, coming and being served this 8-course omakase, and even to the payment. Everything was smooth, service was excellent, waiters and waitresses were very helpful.
Best point of all was the food. Food was outstanding from the first course to the last. Each dish showcased high-quality ingredients, beautifully presented and bursting with flavour.
The snowcrab uni chawanmushi was a standout, with its delicate yet rich taste. This was one of the best chawanmushi I've ever tasted. The chef's special for today was a handmade flat udon with fatty tuna, foie gras and ikura. The texture of the udon was perfect, and every bite was a symphony of textures and tastes.
An outstanding restaurant. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back for another special occasion.

We celebrated Mothers’ day at Kakushin. The food is excellent as well as their service. The ingredients are fresh and of good quality. Our favourite are the sashimi and tempura as the sashimi is not fishy at all and the tempura is lightly battered and still crispy. We enjoyed ourselves very much!

Lots of food selection, we had the 5+1 oysters for 30 dollars they’re huge jap tasty oysters. Asahi pint goes for 1-1 at 16 dollars. For yakitori we had the chicken skin, chicjen tail, pork belly, pork with enoki, chicken wings and liver. They served all the stiicks at once but would be better if they did it by sticks to maintain the food warm. The pork trotters is also a must try for that collagen boost. Overall good!

Great food, very juicy tonkatsu without any greasy taste. You should try. Order the prok tonkatsu or tori kara mix set. Fiest, try the katsu without any sauce or seasoning after that take small amount of mustard on the tonkatsu and you will have mindblown taste.

This review is for i12 Katong branch of Kei Kaisendon. We have their Kei Premium Set for 2 at S$49.90++! Come with 2 Ebi Mentaiyaki, 2 Clam Soup, 2 Salad, and 2 Ice Green Tea. I have Kei Signature Kaisendon while my friend have Mentaiyaki Tamago Kaisendon. It’s not cheap but it was quite a lot of food, and their seafood tasted fresh! We have a pleasant chat with their operator Mr. Toy-Gun (obviously NOT his real name). This stall come highly recommended!

They use seasonal ingredients for omakase. Some ingredients I have never tried before like white wasabi. I also like the idea of the truffle infused miso cod.

Not that I’m complaining but why isn’t this place full? The service was friendly and down to earth and omakase was amazing.

I’ve always thought that some omakases have had rice that’s too strongly flavored, this place does not. It’s subtle enough for you to appreciate the fish.

Also; progression of fish pieces was amazingly done, with my palette appreciating each next piece more than the previous one. Would come back most definitely.
Came here a few times during our stay in Singapore. 2 for 1 on pints of Asahi, and the white wine was good. Enjoyed the atmosphere, always nice to be in CHIJMES. Staff were lovely, and we really enjoyed our experiences! (Did not eat food)

Ordered a Pork loin curry set. The pork was well fried. Crispy outside and juicy inside. The curry was thick but not fragrant or spicy enough. I would say this set is really filling. The short grain rice was very nice too. Generous portions of pork, rice and lettuce.
We also had a grilled fish set. The set is quite generous and no complaints about the quality.
Went there on the 8th March 2024(Fri) for a dinner with my husband, located inside of the National Gallery. I would say this is a hidden gem and its totally worth a five star. If you are into Sashimi and don't mind Omakase.

Atmosphere - There wasn't many people on that day, so we managed to book semi private room, and the venue itself really have the slight tradition but 5 star restaurant vibe.

Service - A Japanese waiter who is well verse in English served us, and he was very patient and explained what are the dishes and how we should eat it, and show the what the fishes looked like with a book of fish pics which made it more easy to understand. He also was very attentive of my hot tea when its running low and ensure both my husband and I enjoyed the food.

Food - Everything was great, especially the cod they have served. I chose the Ryu Omakase, but requested with no beef. They served us with the cod which was only available on lunch menu, but the waiter was very patient and explained to us on how it was cooked and what fish it was. There were many other great food which can't be explained with words but with pics instead.

Overall, I highly recommend, if you are looking for somewhere to celebrate anniversary, or a normal date night, here is the place to go!

Ordered food for delivery. The quality of the sashimi was very poor. Not fresh - it’s not just the taste that’s off but the texture also clearly warns that the sashimi is going bad. I had to throw half away. Won't be ordering from here again.

Celebrated our anniversary over lunch @ Hachi Restaurant. We ordered 2 sets of Hachi Omakase and a hot green tea.

Food: food was fresh, and dishes was meticulously prepared. I especially enjoyed the sashimi platter that came with pieces of different interesting vege. The addition elevated the sashimi and gave it a touch of freshness.

The oyster and sushi were good. Starter of anago with with burdock was interesting with layers of different textures. Chawanmushi with snow crab and crab roe was fragrant and well balanced.

But the last dish of duck noodles was a little unexpected. It was nice, but I would much rather a mini wagyu don/some sort of hand roll/mini charashi don. It wasn’t the best end to the savoury food tbh. And it took at least 15mins for them to serve the noodle soup, which left me and my partner hungry and wondering if the meal has ended. Upon enquiring, the chef kindly offered us some tamagoyaki which was delicious, and greatly appreciated because I really wasn’t full yet.

The dessert was really beautifully presented together with a music box which was a very sweet touch. Very tasty too and served with roasted green tea.

Service: I had pretty high expectations of the service since many raved about it. It was good, the staff described each dish in detail and cleared our table timely. However the place was pretty cold so ladies, rmb to bring your own shawl or scarf. The chef was not as interactive but I reckon it was just a busy day for him.

Atmosphere: the restaurant was about 70% filled when we arrived at 12:30pm for our lunch, not as private as some other Omakase restaurants as there are table seats directly behind the counter seats. But all in all it was a pleasant beautifully decorated place.
Money we'll spent. Exquisitely plated and absolutely delicious dishes. Service folks were all very attentive and professional. Nice ambience too.

Weekday Lunch hour/ Omakase set

Atmosphere: Tranquill
Service staff: kind and pays attention to detail. They offered a box to place my bag, a shawl if i were cold, and even re-adjusted my cutlery when they noticed I was left handed!! Amazing! 1st restaurant staff to have ever done so 👏
Food: Fine attention to detail and flavour. Food displays were amazing and the flavours all came together beautifully. Food were all SO fresh, made my mouth feel like i was on cloud 9.

Loved my experience there, thank you all so much 💗

Passed by and was attracted by a 15% discount, decided to try as menu featured fuss free Japanese favourites. Ambience was really nice as well. Service was really good.

The food standard however, was really mediocore. Its not bad, but perhaps because of the upscale decor I was expecting more.

We ordered the curry tonkatsu, chirashi don and mentaiko tamogo.
Pork tonkatsu was pretty good - fried well , good valance of bread vs meat. The curry itself though was quite disappointing. Bland, flat, no additional veggies. Monster curry probably has a better option to satisfy your cravings.
Chirashi don - nothing to shout about. They give 2 Slices per variety but each of the slice is quite thin. I feel you get a much better value from the sushibar for sure.

All in, felt like a super casual food joint that's dressed up to look upscale. If you're looking to chill, the ambience is for your. If you're looking for food though, you're probably better off other options near by.
The food here is great. The donburi and the noodles options are flavorful and nicely prepared. Affordable as well which is a another reason why to stop by

Celebrated my birthday at Kakushin this year, and it was a true privilege. The food was marvelous, the service fantastic, and the atmosphere just perfect. They were attentive to our specific dietary needs and even prepared a high chair for our little toddler. A memorable experience all around.

Saw this restaurant online and decided to give it a try, we ordered the chirashi bowls, it was fresh and great portion, food came fast as well. The tamago was super delicious, really liked the mentaiko sauce that it came with. The staff were super friendly and gave me a cake as i was celebrating my birthday! Definitely show them some support and try their food, the location is so convenient as well as comfortable.

Really pleasantly surprised with this more causal Japanese eatery. Came with little expectations and it wasn’t crowded. Tried their ramen with katsu. It was very nice with the yuzu taste. Katsu was very nice. Out of the three katsu dishes one tasted porky. The rest were good. Curry was tasty. But spicy. The wasabi is fresh. Don’t think it’s the paste sort. Or I couldn’t tell. Salmon Don was so so. The wagyu Don was not too bad. I recommend the ramen, curry and sando katsu.

Just wanted to grab a quick dinner and decided to give this place a try. We chose a seafood salad and ponzu sauce which came in a big bottle and unknowingly we poured sufficient amount thinking it is light but with the whitebait, the sauce was overpowering and immensely salty. Staff did not caution us as well. The nanban chicken sandwich was difficult to hold and eat as seen in the photo. The size is not ideal neither to cut with cutlery or holding up in your hands.

Still worth to give a try as their menu has a variety of snacks.

Postmeal update: Restaurant kindly waived off the cost of the parfait in the bill. Kind gesture.

Disappointing food in a place with awesome vibe and attentive service. Sgd17 for sliced pork salad, it's just goma sauce on some salad greens, a few slices of pork about 40g, a few pieces of capsicum, half a hanjuku egg, some corn. Quite disappointing, expected more ingredients for the price. Sgd26 for wagyu don, beef was alright but goma sauce was drizzled, which isn't usual. Side veg was lettuce, which some places give free flow of. Sgd11 for decent glass of shiraz. Sgd14 for parfait, which was the weirdest parfait we've had. It's just 4 slices of strawberry, 1 (yes just ONE) blueberry, 2 sticks of chocolate pocky, lots of cream, 1 small scoop vanilla ice cream, some mini marshmallows, strawberry jam, countable flakes of cornflakes, and BREAD, just plain bread, cubed and dumped into the middle of the glass above more cream. I think even my children can make a better parfait. I provided feedback to one of the staff, he at first defended the parfait saying that there are fruits. I had to point out to him the ridiculousness of having plain bread in the middle of a parfait. He then said he will feedback to kitchen. I really hope he does. Plus one star for complimentary water served and the comfy sofa seats. In conclusion, come for the ambience, not the food.

Excellent Japanese eatery. Did a walk in on a Friday evening and the main restaurant area is full. Got ushered to the sister restaurant Kome Bar, which is empty. Ordered the food from Modern Izakaya and got served at Kome Bar which odd very quiet and nice environment. The waitresses were very attentive and prompt, excellent services.

The food were delicious and very well marinated and cooked, especially the stingray, chicken skin, chicken and pork meat. The beer was 1-1 before 8pm. Overall excellent place for Japanese food!

Peaceful ambience when I stepped into Tonkichi on one of the evening on weekday. Ideally situated opposite ION Orchard. Managed to secure the window seat and enjoyed the night scene as I calmly savouring the Tonkatsu Hire. Overall texture of Tonkatsu was satisfactory and serving was reasonable with the price. Aside from Tonkatsu, the menu offers wide range of sushi including ramen & udon. I would assume their signature is their Tonkatsu. Free flow of cabbage is served without you asking, this I applaud at the serving crew. Promise the manager that I will revisit for sushi.

Brought a large family of 9, including 3 seniors and 1 baby to Kissanji for dinner. Ambience was pleasant and the service was excellent. Kudos to Andrew (front of house manager) and Siying (service staff) for your patience and understanding to the various requests made by my large group. Decent dishes of good quality that did not break the bank. Everyone (especially the seniors) was happy and satisfied.

Special shout out to Poh Poh and Linda for their genuine friendly service. The highlight was the delicious food – the Chirashi don, Bara Chirashi don, tako wasabi, and Hokkaido cream topped with mixed berries parfait were all exceptional. Food was good overall. It was fun to eat the Godzilla curry ($68++) which is a monstrous portion and serves 3-4 pax. Service was awesome and staff were friendly. But the portion of the donburi is quite small so I wouldn’t be full if I had only that alone. Would be nice if the don came with a bowl of miso soup as well for a more complete meal.

Had an amazing and delightful experience all due to the whole team at Hachi. The ingredients were fresh and the chefs explained in detail the courses we were having. Service was attentive without being in your face which made the whole experience so pleasant, the small little touches and attention to detail by all the staff shows that they take pride in what they are doing. The quality and presentation of the food was excellent and beats out some other establishments that are Michelin starred. Really appreciate the effort put in to make it a memorable celebration for us, kudos to the whole team at Hachi!

Food was great the beef tenderloin was very tender and tasty. They also gave a lot of garlic chips which were good.
The sushi was quite fresh and the sushi chef was very friendly. His recommendations were good.

However service was very slow. We had to wait for a long time for a waiter to come. It might be an understaff issue.
It was also very hot for an indoor restaurant. Im scared the fish might spoil due to the heat

My recent visit to Aoki this evening left me with mixed feelings. I understand that not all places can accommodate aburi requests, and I politely inquired about it, emphasizing that it was perfectly fine if they couldn't do it. I want to make it clear that I wasn't trying to force the chef's hand. The chef mentioned that some sushi could be aburi'd while others couldn't, which I fully understood. Of course, you can't aburi uni sushi.

However, what left me somewhat disappointed was the service. The chef seemed to rush through each sushi course, serving the next piece even before my partner had finished the current one. For me as well. To add to this, the chef didn't bother explaining what he was serving. In many sushi restaurants, chefs typically provide a brief description of each dish, but that wasn't the case here. I had to repeatedly ask, "What is this?" for every piece, and even after asking once, he didn't bother providing any further details.

The lack of communication and rushed service detracted from what could have been a more enjoyable dining experience. While I appreciate the chef's skills, I hope they can work on improving the service aspect to make the overall experience at Aoki more satisfying.

I love eating here when I come into the office, it’s literally the highlight of my day! The food is always hot and fresh, and extremely consistent. I always go for the salmon teriyaki (can’t get enough!) and add on a la carte chicken, or double salmon. The rice is top quality and the salad is always fresh and crunchy. Never feel bloated or exhausted after eating. The staff are extremely friendly, even when the shop is busy and they are under pressure. This place deserves the high reviews and can’t wait to eat here tomorrow!

Had the chirashi here with uni and it tasted so good. Lots of fish, with very fresh and premium cuts. The desserts were also equally good - everything was handmade by the restaurant!

Back to celebrate anniversary after many years. Enjoy the hospitality very much. Service is warm. The crew explains each course very clearly.

Menu offers a good balance of different tastes. I love the current autumn menu - chestnut, yam, pumpkin, roe, eel, crab - all delicious! You may not find one single standout dish that wows you, but I really enjoy the mix of tastes and the balance.

The team prepares this very beautiful dessert for our celebration. Thank you for making the night special.

Was hungry and at the best hour of dinner time where all restaurants are super long in Q.

However we are lucky to have found this restaurant and managed to get a seat before it got a Q as well.

The main food we ordered was not any katsu stuffs that needs a lots deep frying, our mains are sushi instead. So the lack of 1 star is for the long wait for our sushi, literally very long wait.

It’s still a recommended restaurant to go to

Couldn't enjoy the dinner as I couldn't understand why was the raw food literally placed next to the basin (with SOAP and scrubs). Ventilation wasn't working well too.

And worst of all, the peeps in the kitchen came out and used that basin multiple times to wash their items.

I just hope I don't get food poisoning when the meal was very stressful and below average (sorry).

Not forgetting the chef has 2 failed fire "performance" on the beef cubes. Lol

We only have good things to say about Aoki.
1) ambience - classy and cozy, really one of the best atmosphere for a sushi restaurant in SG.
2) service- always excellent, polite and never felt rushed the 4/5 times we’ve been there, that’s why we keep going back
3) very reasonably priced omakase lunch
Quality sushi and dishes served
We tried omakase dinner too, sashimi is super fresh!

This was our 2nd visit in 3 months. At our 1st, staff told us to give them 2 weeks advance if we want to customise our course. We gave them 3. We asked for nigiri sushi & sashimi to be substituted and prepare meal based on traditional kaiseki cuisine. But on that evening, they could only offer their regular omakase. Disappointed. However, the museum is beautiful, the restaurant layout comfortable & generally the atmosphere was gracious & dignified.

Lousy service and restaurant manager has a poor attitude towards customers.

It has a manual reservation system, and you are at the mercy of the staff who would manually update to their reservation system (a paper based log book😵‍💫😵‍💫). If he forgets to record your reservation or loses the paper that has your reservation record. you won't get a seat and the restaurant will show you some attitude. The restaurant manager challenges you to complain about him!!

I'm very disappointed and this is no longer a good place for a catchup with friends.

Enjoyed the teppanyaki watching the chef cook! Lobster and king prawns were huge and tasted so naturally fresh and sweet! Salmon was cooked with a lot of soft eggs and very tender. Wagyu was super juicy with good marbling and of very good size. We were stuffed but still managed to polish off the seafood rice and garlic rice. Both were excellently executed. Totally enjoyed the miso soup with lobster too, super unami. Mushrooms and veg were delicious too. Great value for the lobster wagyu set at $168 per set/pax considering how huge the lobster was and it was cooked perfectly !There were theatrics too, flaming fire for the lobster (see pic) Enjoyed the wine and desserts too! Staff kindly sang birthday song....v nice surprise gesture! Atmosphere was cosy just how teppanyaki restaurants are like.

Brought my parents here to celebrate their anniversary - prices aren't cheap, but certainly worth it! Everything was perfectly cooked (seafood, meat, veggies, fried rice, etc.), wonderfully flavoured (that mayo sauce!), and beautifully presented. Was a little nervous after reading some reviews online, but the negative views were unfounded? The staff were lovely, servings were good, and the food was fresh and excellent. Give this place a chance, and bring that loved one here 😎👍

(Side note: they gifted my parents a slice of cake for their anniversary! Tofu cheesecake, azuki and matcha cleanly layered together. Wow!)

(Side side note: that flambé action was something else!)

First time here and we are disappointed with the food. The grilled squid is hard, dry and burnt and cost $25 before gst even pasar malam grilled squid cost $5 taste better than the squid from this restaurant. Salmon Don also is disappointing as the salmon color doesnt look fresh and not fantastic. Their grilled pork belly skewer mean tasted hard and not as tender as we thought. The only food that taste nice is chicken leg skewer - tender and juicey ; chicken don - cripsy skin and tender meat ; oyster - big fresh and juicy. Overall come here once and never come back. Expensive pricing and food is not famtastic.

Go for the grilled pork belly donburi - it was yummy. The only had half the items that's written on the menu when I went on a weekday, they did not have ebi, beef or salmon. Surprisingly they were out of drinks as well, had only coke zero. But the staff were friendly and food was nice so the unavailability didn't matter. Seating is limited.

Decent grilled meat donburi. Hard to find a seat during weekday lunch. Meats are tasty but chicken skin not as crispy as I would have liked. Ordered an extra egg and received no egg at all, but only discovered it later as I ordered takeaway.

Very good service staff here, very prompt and attentive service.
Had beers, they have 1 for 1 for happy hour.
We had some cucumbers, skewers and Japanese shrimps. Forgot all about the photos after the beer 🍺! Burp!!

Legit obsessed with the food here. Reminds me of the high-end Japanese food you can get at restaurants or even in Japan. It's a small space with 6 seats or so - probably best to takeaway. I love the salmon, saba (has lots of bones, though), and chicken bentos so far. Comes with either a salad or a drink. Sweet friendly ladies behind the counter, too. I'm a repeat customer!

My first time having a meal at Kei Kaisendon. Definitely coming back again! I had the Anago Unagi Don Set. Super value for money. The Anago and Unagi are of substantial size and taste super yummy. The anago is soft. When eaten with unagi, I can easily tell the difference between the 2 cooking styles of the eels. Interesting. The tamago comes with mentaiko sauce and fish roe. Love it too. The side dish is cold tofu. It is served with lots of sesame sauce. Totally enjoyed this meal! Thank you!

“Freshest of the Fresh” - if there’s such word/s to describe the dishes! Basically it feels like being in Japan- savouring their fresh ingredients. Subtle yet romanticised dishes from bento to mains.
The place have some partitions if you want to have a more private lunch or perhaps dinner.
Ambience is clean to the eyes- all in all 10/10

Food was pretty fresh & good. Service was great. A little towards the pricey side for the portion. Small shop but alright for a quick lunch.

The hamburger bento is delicious. The green salad portion is just nice. Lunch time is crowded and have only limited seats here.

Good lunch place, we went for the Omakase lunch. Sashimi and sushi had very fresh ingredients, you can opt to pay extra to get some uni sushi. Overall, we had a good lunch, next time we will just go for the sashimi/sushi dishes instead.

I should have read the reviews before dining here. Don’t be deceived by the pictures because the taste of the food is far from how it looks. Sashimi is not fresh. Gave the staff feedback about the octopus - it was not fresh and I spat it out cause it was so smelly. All she said was okay and continued to do her work. Both staff were nonchalant and they were playing techno music which totally doesn’t suit the Japanese theme?? Overall lousy and pricey food with lousy customer service. VISIT AT YOUR RISK.

OUE Tower is an office building, home to the corporate division of the Bank of America. A separate building beside it houses Tong. Le private dining restaurant. The only revolving restaurant in Singapore. Surrounding area nearby with eateries and the Bayfront hotel, makes it a pleasant place for a leisurely stroll along the waterfront.

Fresh seafood bowl and good taste! Will be better if the gyoza is pan fried.

Good satisfying bowls of Mentaiyaki Tamago and Ebi Kaisendon set meals. Loved the charred aburi smell aroma of the food and around the kitchen. The miso soup had salmon pieces in it too! Friendly and prompt service completed the casual but enjoyable experience. Shiok.

Returned again for more salmon mentaiyaki, salmon belly and unagi goodness. But I will skip the Yakitori. This branch although tiny gets almost everything right. The chef takes pride in his culinary skills. Shiok!

Back again for lunch. Value sets and generous portion for 2 pax under $40. Todays saba, sashimi cuts, steamed gyoza and soup were awesome. Shiok.

Food here is hard to beat in both quality and value. Their lunch sets are especially good and affordable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a good fuss free Japanese fix in town. Advance reservation required.

Chanced upon this gem and so glad I did! Salad was fresh, salad sauce was so appetizing and that chicken teriyaki was perfectly cooked, crispy skin, juicy chicken that goes perfect with the moist Japanese rice. A must try!

Beautiful restaurant, well-located serving delicious, fresh Japanese cuisine.

The evening Omakasé menu was fantastic from the first of 7 dishes all the way through to the last. Highly recommended. Sakés, both hot and usual options were incredible.

Alex and the team were warm, welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. I'd come again to try their lunch and other menus.

This is our 3rd visit and we always go for the $125 Omakase lunch set, which can be very filling - so make sure to have a light breakfast or none at all so you could enjoy the full course.

Pretty decent and value for money. We like to sit at the counter to see the action taking place into plating our food so we could fully appreciate what we will be eating shortly (except for the cooked food which will be done in the kitchen).

Service staff are pleasant and friendly, and they clear your plates immediately after you are finished - very attentive.

Less 1 star as the quality of the sashimi is not consistent - or maybe cos we visited on non-shipment day.

This is a pretty nice building - yes, it rotates, and occasionally you can even feel the ground shudder. If you like that sort of thing, it can be fun. It's in a very nice location in the heart of Singapore and has excellent views of the city all the way around.
