Чудовий музей. Особливо вразили картини Рубенса та Маульберча, а також готичний шотландський вівтар. Рекомендую.
A huge museum that exhibits earth formation to human evolution. The explanation for the exhibition is rather detailed. I personally spent 2+ hours just on the exhibition on 1st floor.
On 2nd floor there is a cafe and another exhibition which I did not explore.
You can easily spend half a day there to explore the entire museum.
I visited the museum on weekday and there are a lot of visitors, mainly students.
If you carry a bulky bag, you can store it in a locker but prepare a 50 cents or eur1 coin.
Housed in an opulent neo-Renaissance building, Vienna's Natural History Museum is home to over 30 million objects, showcasing the world's rich tapestry of biodiversity, evolution, and Earth's history. With exhibits ranging from prehistoric fossils and dazzling minerals to the extensive anthropological collection, it offers a comprehensive journey through time. Tips: Allocate at least two hours to fully appreciate the museum.
Impressive building unfortunately with partly covered areas due to construction/renovations, completely surrounded by construction trucks and equipment. The is a cute bronze sculpture of an elephant donated by local artist in front of the building. We did not go in.
Building itself was quite stunning. There was a very large collection of stones, meteorites etc. and quite a lot information about animals (especially birds) and humans. I would of appreciated if there would of been more about prehistoric times (mostly dinosaurs).
It was really nice to be able to be able to see and actually touch old roman ruins and learn how they built their under floor heating system.
The museum i quite small with 3 different levels, that you could allocate 1-2 hours for your visit to.
If you are in a hurry and only want to see and touch some genuine old roman ruins, I would recommend going straight down to the basement and spend half an hour down there reading the signs, and waiting for a horse carriage to pass above your head on the street above the basement, that really gives you a feeling of being transported back in time.

The top level of the museum is suffering from bad ventilation and had a bad smell when I was visiting.

If you are interested in Ancient roman ruins and learning more about roman society it is well worth a visit.

They have a particularly good video detailing how acheductes in ancient times worked from spring to sewer on the second floor.

100% recommended. The Penacho of Mexico is amazing piece of art. Also everything about war and medieval armies is awesome!
This is a fabulous museum!! I’ve lived in Tunisia, Croatia, Serbia, and Italy and visited Roman sites in all of them. This is the first time I have ever been able to visualize and better understand the Roman way of life. Fantastic museum and worth your time if you want to learn more about the history of Vienna.
Wonderful Museum that puts to shame so many “modern” museums. The amazing huge crystal collection was a great way to start. Multimedia was integrated c into real meteorite collections. Animated full size raptor was cleverly unexpected. The building is superb. Relaxing and gracious cafe upstairs.

Amazing, that it is possible to visit those rooms. But, compared to Versaille, taking pictures are forbidden. (I managed a few). Often the corridors are overfilled, and they allow anyone to go in with their backpacks, which makes people more sweating and leaves less place to go arround each other. Definitely not enough air and too high temperature, which makes the visiting hard for many on those crowded small corridors. Real important value, and the visitor management could be improved a little bit.

Great museum with a lovely collection. I specially enjoyed the temporary Sci-Fi exhibition. I took a long time to see everything and at some point it got tiring for me, but I definitely don’t regret going!

It was very fun but i was expecting more from the exhibition, also the story of sisi was prety briefly talked about, it was rather "hey look at that piece, it's nice... Also sisi was there... A bit" also only 4 historical dresses were shown, which was a bit disappointing to be honest, but it was still cool to see.
Also since no pictures where allowed, here's some of my drawings in the exhibition.
This was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers. The area is huge and well maintained. To go inside no tickets are needed but if you want to go to the palace ticket is there but approx 2 hours of waiting time is there. Best part is the well maintained garden and the zoo.

Hands down our favourite thing during a 10 day holiday with kids in Vienna. So great we came back and went to more of their exhibits later in the holiday. It's not a museum in the normal sense - more a set of perfectly executed "experiences" for kids, all with humour, wit and wonder in abundance. We found the age suggestions worked very well for our English speaking kids (who were well catered for).

If you have kids - just go. Book in advance as it does sell out.

You could spend a day & still miss another. The children's museum had lots of interactive puzzles & games to make the learning experience more fun.
A gr8 place to visit!!!
We spent 4h in there and only managed to see one floor in real depth (1/4 of it was closed for a changing exhibit too). Definitely recommend to start on the 1st floor, where all the paintings are, if you only have time for the highlights. The building itself is a treat all on its own. Couches in every big room were allowed for frequent breaks, I loved that.

We'll have to come back for the sculptures, the gold collection and the Roman and Egyptian exhibits.
Excellent collection of items in a spectacular building. Superb crystal and mineral collection. Great taxidermy. Museology is still a bit old-style. The old wooden vitrines with old unpolished reflective glass are "vintage" but create a distance which feels strange in a 21st century museum. There are new materials and techniques available to protect the exhibits today which are not so intrusive. The practice of closing rooms at the end of loops and forcing visitors to retrace their steps through a huge area is not ideal. Eco-friendly toilets are great but need not smell so bad...
Wow. So much gold and precious gemstones, Is very rich in history objects, very big. It is a must see in Vienna. From my opinion is the Best art history museum in Europe / world.

We are kind of mixed with review. We found the price of the tours somewhat overpriced for the time and what was able to be seen in the palace. The grounds are very nice and have some very pretty features. Be sure to get there first thing in the morning if buying tickets on site. We would recommend pre-buying if you know your plans.

It was my second time visiting the palace though we remained in the gardens without visiting any of the rooms. Highly recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time and downloading the app. The weather was phenomenal so there were people walking, exercising and enjoying the beauty. We lived the labyrinths and followed the app walking suggestions to take in the sculptures and photo ops.
Great museum as a tourist. Definitely buy the audio tour when you get inside. Very convenient and easy to use for only 6 EUR. I will say it could easily take you 5 hours+ to really get the most out of your admission. Plan to be on your feet and see some incredible things and probably be overwhelmed.. bring water and a snack probably. We gave up after about 2 hours just because we were sort of done, but definitely wanted to continue. Just incredible masterpiece after masterpiece and literally legendary artifacts abound. Awesome..
Probably the nicest palace in Vienna! Tickets are required in advance with a specific entry time.
The interior of the palace is very nice, although no pictures are allowed.
We had the classic pass and I believe the normal would be enough. It included the privy garden and orangery (which I did not find worthy), the mace, etc.
For the whole place, including the gardens, you may need 3/4h.

Favorite kids museum of my kids in Vienna. we was twice there. Once to the room Ocean for small kids which was very nice to play for small kids but quite short. Second time we book metal workshop and was also amazing. cant wait to go back very soon
Absolutely stunning.
The grounds are free and definitely worth while. One of the most stunning places on earth. 5-6 stops and 10 minutes via the underground which costs a few euros.

Wish I could have spent more time. You need at least a few hours to fully enjoy it

If you want to understand the various cultural elements of the world, this is the first choice in Vienna. You can find the cultural elements you like. I think it is also one of the must-see museums in Vienna.
This place is mind blowing, it is a MUST in your visit. I recommend paying for the audio guide, they have amazing pieces.
I am the kind of person that doesn’t really appreciate museums or art but this museum is another level, I loved it.
best natural history museum in the world (personally). The earth science section was incredibly well done in multiple languages to a way that appealed to all demographics. The largest collection of birds I have ever seen as well ! The building it is in is just as beautiful as the things in it, amazing way to see Austrian architecture. Would be recommending to anyone who goes to Austria

An enriching and thought-provoking experience through a vast variety of cultures from around the world 🌍 There was an especially large amount of artifacts from the native American culture 🪓 I was shocked to find out about Hawaiian and other cultures that I never knew about or saw their tools or ways of clothing.
Highly recommended ✨
Amazing things too see. But visiting in such heat, with no AC was torture. We didn't manage to enjoy the whole museum like we wanted to.
I would want to rate the expected as a 2 star, but the museum is too amazing to give it any less. We will be back on another vacation here when the temperature is better
I have to describe it with one word; Endless!

The museum has awesome content, and I would have loved to have seen everything; however, the temperature was about 30°C inside, and I felt dehydrated.

Why I'm not giving five stars is just because the museum could have set up more fan units 🌬️ so that the visitors could cool down.

Other than the unbearable temperature, the Museum of Natural History is a great museum 🙏 Great Job Vienna! 🥇
Lovely place, small but dense museum, curated with care. Totally bilingual too. (With the exception of the story of the excavation process itself) Absolutely recommended.
Very well maintained museum with terrific self tour. The museums treasures are gorgeous and beyond plentiful, but after a while , it begins to get a bit mundane. The portrait gallery is interesting but not exquisite. If you have the time do visit but if limited time frame you can miss it.

Cute, quirky museum. We went on a free day. There were only 2 exhibits. While the exhibits were good I wouldn’t go here if I had to pay because there was 1 hour worth of content.
It is a pretty small museum dedicated to post cards. This is the museum I am least impressed In Vienna. One can easily skip it and choose something else.
This museum is the first reason I visited Vienna.
Spare at least half day to enjoy this great venue especially if you love Bruegel. You have to leave your backpacks in the lockers so you need 1 or 2 Euro coins. You’ll get it back when you open the locker. Museum’s gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs. Under 19 is free admission.

Visited the Sisi museum/State apartments. You enter through the Sisi Museum. To be honest, she sounds like she was a horrible person. She hated her husband (who adored her), her son (who later committed suicide), and constantly pitied herself (she was the Empress of Austria). She enjoyed spending time away from her family, exercising and getting infusions of IV cocaine (not kidding). The Sisi museum itself was incredibly hot and crowded. The State apartments were fine, fairly standard issue Royal palaces of the period. In retrospect, I wish I had spent this time in the Kunsthistoriches, which needed almost an entire day to see properly.

I only visited the armory and musical instrument museum, but that was fantastic. The armory contained countless early modern suits of armor, including several belonging to the Hapsburg holy Roman emperors. Skanderberg’s (famous Albanian general/hero) helmet is also here. The musical instrument museum was also incredible. Seeing a Stainer string quartet and an Amati violin is amazing, as were the early fortepianos from the 18th century. My only criticism is that the museum was very hot! Austria needs to invest in installing air conditioning in its museums. Summer happens here too!
At first they said that we have to wait 4 hours to enter the palace. The second day I was in no mood to go there at all and the tickets were also very expensive. My partner likes to go there and has already bought tickets. When we were there we saw it and listened to all the stories behind each room, each painting and everything. I thought then great, it was great to hear my partner and listen to her :)

Beautiful palace .. fantastic tourist attraction in Vienna. The palace looks stunning in the night lights. The inside tour of the palace is nice. Photos are not allowed inside the palace. All the antique items and treasures of the palace are preserved very well. Great place to visit. Such a long area of the whole place. It might even take a full day to see the complete palace. The palace viewing tickets are sold here. A bit expensive though. Tickets are also sold to cover the half side of the palace only at half price. A lot of souvenir items are sold at the exit. The Christmas market is held here in the grounds of the palace during Christmas time.

After many years, when my wife and I did not go to many museums because of the children in Vienna, this year has come. The museum is a must see. Many of her personal items and clothes are on display.
It was a breathtaking experience. I loved everything in that museum, from its architecture, to its beautiful artworks. Definitely do recommend you go there! (Note: make sure to get your tickets online since you’ll have no wait time because of that.)

The Weltmuseum is a triumph in every regard: the building itself is a work of art with the most perfect atrium I’ve ever seen: Golden Proportions of polished white marble point to allegorical frescos around the skylight.

Brilliantly curated, bringing together the very best of many different genres, the collection grabs you and will most likely make you miss your next appointment.

I can’t wait to visit again. And again!
Very Impressed! We took our son (2 years old) who is very interested in dinosaurs and we had a wonderful experience! We spent most of the time in the Dino room. He was very excited and he loved it! I highly recommend this place if you have kids who are interested in Dinosaurs.
The other exhibitions are very interesting too. They had a big display of sharks which my son really liked.
It’s a bit difficult to go around the museum in detail with a toddler but if I was there alone I could easily spend 2-3 hours looking at everything in detail.
We arrived 5 mins before opening time on a Sunday morning. It felt like we were the only ones in the room at some times but when we were leaving there were lots of people lining up to buy tickets so you’ll get a better experience if you go early in the morning.
We sat at the museum cafe for coffee and cake. Nice experience. Friendly service and good food and drinks.
We also took the stroller and left it in the stroller parking area near the entrance. But if you need to go around with the stroller there is a lift so it’s possible. The museum is barrier free.

I will definitely buy an annual pass next time because it’s a great place to take my child and spark his curiosity.

Very beautiful
I recently had the opportunity to visit the Sisi Museum in Vienna, and it was an absolutely captivating experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was immersed in the intriguing world of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, fondly known as Sisi.

The museum showcases an impressive collection of personal artifacts, clothing, and portraits, providing an intimate glimpse into the life of this enigmatic historical figure. The attention to detail and the preservation of these treasures are truly commendable, making the visit feel like a journey back in time.
Unbelievable natural history museum filled with wonders. It still retains its original layout and cabinets so you really get to see how the original researchers wanted it displayed. The building is magnificent and has artwork that matches and enhances the items on display. This is a great museum for adults and kids alike.

Really enjoyed the postcard exhibition. It’s was a great way to see Vienna throughout history as well as learn about the history of photography and printing. This location is changing exhibitions and we really enjoy this one. But do check the website to see what is on exhibit. There was also a really clever and funny (in a good way!) exhibition about failure. Really appreciated the sense of humor and fun of this curatorial decision!

The science fiction exhibit was good.
The main exhibit was lacking in context for most of the artifacts and if there was context it was not very easy to find. It also felt like the museum was trying to acknowledge the fact that most of its artifacts were not sourced ethically while taking no responsibility for that fact.

Everything was in both English and German other than the armoury which was only in German.

Great exhibition, especially considering it’s free on the first Sunday of every month.
Absolutely amazing and one of the best natural history museums in the world. The collection is vast and comprehensive covering the evolution of Homo sapiens and all the animals. They have lockers make sure you have a 1 or 2€ coin with you. The dinosaur exhibit is amazing, and the collection of birds, fish, and animals. The taxidermy of the animals make you really appreciate how big and how amazing these animals are. Worth checking out

Loved it! Take a bit of time to really get the history, it’s really worth it! Very helpful and friendly staff.
What a breathtakingly beautiful and vast museum. The first hack you need to be aware of is that if you don’t buy your tickets online, there is a ticket office on the outside but just inside the entrance there are a couple of self service kiosks which you can use to buy the ticket and there’s no line. Take your time as this museum is huge and it covers a lot of history. Have 1 or 2 euro coins with you for locker storage. The building itself is stunningly beautiful. Definitely worth seeing
As a childcare worker, I've come to the ZOOM museum with a few different children and have had nothing but positive experiences. The exhibits are fun, engaging, and educational. Somewhat less importantly, I've always had a good time myself. The communication exhibit has gotten me interested in Morse Code and it's just been a pleasure coming here.
Very interesting museum, I didn't know much facts about Vienna history. It's very important to keep memory and history. Thanks. Tatiana Ukraine

A great mix of medieval and contemporary art. They have a wonderful audioguide available in multiple languages if you download their ap on your phone. You can connect to the museum's wifi to do so. Took 2 hours to do the entire audio guide.

Very small place with few things to see. It is a bit confusing and I left the place not knowing exactly what I had looked at. It’s nice to go on the day that’s free but isn’t worth actually paying to go inside.

Nicely and thoughtfully curated. The guide was wonderful. Contemporary exhibits explores universal themes that thread through both religious and secular society alike. If you have a tiny person and are in Vienna this place should be on your list.

Immersive story time with the group at the beginning, with the host taking time to subtly deliver it in English to me when my high school German gave out.

The environment is fun, interactive, and adults have as much as the children watching them enjoy themselves.

My toddler loved it and there was a school trip of 5 year olds also enjoying it.

The staff are kind, interact brilliantly with the children.

4 stars for the museum. It's interesting but small. The art exhibition comparing modern day social justice images with medieval images really made me think - and I'm not one normally for art. Why 5 stars? The lady at the ticket office was so friendly and delighted I used my rather basic German. Also, the availability of English translations available.
Roman 10th legion built this fort very near the Danube River. Lots of historical details excavated from under Vienna providing valuable insite of life during this period and shows how advanced and skilled the Roman empire was.

The Römermuseum is part of the Wien Museum and it offers a chance to discover how life in ancient Vienna (Vindobona) was like.
The exhibition is interactive and user friendly, combining the classic display of objects with videos and 3D reconstructions of the ancient city.
Furthermore, the underground section hosts very interesting and well preserved roman archaeological remains.

Such an absolutely wonderful place for children to learn! We attended a class in the atelier and had a fun time creating beautiful art. My son especially enjoyed it as he still talks about it over a month later! The teachers were so great with the kids and explained everything to them so well. Such an interactive, hands-on class. An absolute joy! And although the class was 99% in German, and we speak zero German, we still were able to follow along and make due. Luckily the instructor spoke English and could answer any questions we had but it was a straight forward class. (We had the pleasure of attending the "Be a Plaster Master" class in May 2019).
Geheimtipp für einen Museumsbesuch ohne Stress. Sehr interessante Räume. Sehr schöner Museumsshop. Besuch sehr empfehlenswert.

Art and natural history museum. Not a lot of info on the origins of the monastery, which is what we were interested in.
