Very cool place! Not well known history. Excellent staff. Fun watching/hearing the live musket fire. Highly recommend a visit.
We absolutely loved this! I believe paying $20 is not bad at all for this time capsule. Free parking, beautiful scenery, excellent customer service. The actors were so nice to educate and answer all my son's questions. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back.

Stopped here during my trip to Niagara Falls. It’s about 25-30 mins from Niagara Falls centre - lots of history to learn and is very well kept. There was a small free walking tour and a musket demonstration which were great additions.
The tickets are $20 per adult which seems a little high given the amount to do - however I do hope that this goes towards preserving the fort! I recommend stopping here if budget allows!

This is probably the coolest old fort I have visited. Built by the French, English, and then Americans. The large building in the center and the gatehouse towers resemble a medieval castle in construction. The staff are informative and helpful, and the overall experience was great. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the Niagara or Buffalo area.
The actor who played the French soldier was hilarious and informative. He was worth the price of admission. The castle evokes ones imagination, of life with a caste system, trading with different nations and cultures. If you like beauty, come here to see the lake and river. Kids will love the musket firing. The museum is interesting and well done, but showing some signs of wear. Highly recommended.
Didn't get to see the fort, but lake Ontario was absolutely gorgeous! The beach was amazing and the rocks were very pretty. The fort only opens on Wednesdays through the weekends.
I have a whole new respect for steel workers . Tough times
Great museum, ample parking, friendly staff. The museum captures steel's past in and around the Mahoning Valley and tells the story of a lost era.
Admission is $20 for an adult. I feel like the fee should be like $10-15. It’s a cool place to visit. A lot of history. It’s not super crowded so you won’t have to worry about people’s heads photo bombing your pictures. The drive here was very straight forward. You can spend 3-4 hours here. They do some have demonstrations here. Employees were very nice.
Quick stop here to check out the park and lighthouse in November.

This is a must visit if you visit Buffalo or Niagara Falls. This is hidden gem. If Niagara Falls is a tad overhyped, then this place doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Especially if you love visiting real history, this is one of a kind in North America.
This fort has been held by 3 countries over the last 300 years - by the French, British and the Americans. At least for my wife and I, we loved this much more than Falls.

This place is absolutely beautiful and full of history. If you are visiting Niagara Falls, you have to visit Fort Niagara!
The museum is small but nice as is the gift shop. But what you're really there for is the fort, and it does not disappoint in my opinion! You can go almost anywhere in the fort and see amazing views. There is also a place to buy and eat food in one of the buildings.
Also make sure to check out one of the demonstrations. They are fun to watch and the person doing them is very knowledgeable.
Much to our surprise, dogs are allowed! We bought our pup through the museum, gift shop, and the entire fort without issue!

A well maintained old castle and fort that is super cool to visit if you’re into history.
Staff are very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to for stories and interesting facts. Demonstrations were very cool.

Great place to bring the family. Learn about the history of our country
The tour was great even on a rainy day. Except for the food. The burger was microwaved. Loved the musket shooting and wished they could have shot off the cannons but it was raining so I can understand. The experience was awesome. Highly recommend if you're in the part of New York.
Beautiful! My fiance and I went there expecting just a lighthouse. I was going to go take pictures of the lighthouse for my mom.

We have been traveling on vacation for a week and this was supposed to be a quick stop, maybe 30 minutes max. Instead, we walked around and enjoyed ourselves for several hours!
We didn't get to do all the things we had planned for the day because we were there for so long and we didn't regret it at all!

A must visit. I did not even know much about it’s history until I visited.They had musket demonstration and actual items on display from the past. Good learning indeed. Thousands of people died, so much bloodshed merely for power.
We also visited the light tower. It has 73 stairs, spiral staircase, only 4-5 people can go up at one time. I liked their gift shop as well. Rest rooms were clean too. They have maintained the fort very well.

Fun place to sit on the beach of lake Ontario and jump in for a swim. The old fort is a cool historical monument to eras past. With your ticket into the park you get that amount of the admission into the actual fort.
This historic place is wonderful for family excursions or field trips. However, not really geared towards kids under 5. They have different tours and demonstrations as well as special events. Call or check online for their schedule. They have a snack bar with slushies, ice cream, milkshakes, and more.
Visiting this fort was on our to do list while up in Niagara Falls. After admission there is a museum that also includes a short film. Following the museum we went out into the grounds of the Fort. It’s a good walk and not all the paths are paved so wear proper attire. Every hour on the hour the “Soldiers” fire a musket rifle however, in our case the rifle didn’t go off even after 6 attempts. The “Soldiers” and “civilians” were doing re-enactments while walking through the buildings so it felt immersive.
The castle on site is gorgeous, the details inside were pretty amazing, from the stained windows to the stone work throughout are beautiful. The rooms and the chapel were very pretty. Once you finish your tour there is a gift shop on site where you can purchase trinkets, books and t-shirts. If you are a history lover I recommend you go check this great fort out.

History at it’s finest. We enjoyed several hours at this fort. We took the advice of the front desk attendant to watch the video prior to the self guided tour. It was great information and brought more life to the fort as we toured. We also had the opportunity to watch a musket demonstration and gain some insight on fighting techniques during the time the fort was active. The grounds are beautiful and the preservation of the buildings were meticulously restored as well as currently being restored when we were there. I recommend this for anyone interested in history and learning more about the importance of Old Fort Niagara.

Nicer than expected.
Lots of information, great displays, and clean. Two story building with plenty of historical items inside. A quick walk through will take 20 minutes, but you could spend hours here reading every sign and watching videos on multiple monitors throughout the museum.

Attractive venue for events of 40 to 60. Inexpensive hourly room rental includes table/chair setup. Catering permitted. Museum tour led by entertaining and highly knowledgeable docent included at no extra charge. Don't miss the steeworkers' changing room, the hooks and chains used to hold lunch boxes away from the rats, and poignant letters written by workers and their families in the early 1900s!

Various photos and exhibits of the steel industry in Youngstown but no mention of Jim Traficant who is part of the Youngstown story. Employees are friendly and place is well maintained
Found this place on a trip advisor website. So happy I made the drive up! The state park that surrounds it is well maintained and beautiful! The entire fort experience was amazing! Definitely one of the best parts of our trip!
A hidden-in-the-open secret passageway into Youngstown's steel history. It was much better than anticipated! While small, it's clean, airy, and information packed with interesting displays and timelines. Great for adults and children, with some hands on displays. Parking during a weekday was easy.

This is a cool place to learn about the steel industry in the Youngstown, Ohio area. There are some great maps, photos, stories, and railroad displays. Some of the stories are heartbreaking for lots of reasons, but this small museum helps explain why people are the way they are here. The backbreaking and dangerous work that most local residents' fathers or grandfathers did during the steel industry zenith explains a lot about Youngstown's culture of hard work, handiwork, and humility. This is a good one-hour history lesson for Youngstown enthusiasts.
This is a great museum conveniently located in downtown Youngstown. I went here and was immensely satisfied with my experience. I parked in the museum’s parking lot and walked in, where I payed the admission price. After I payed the admission price, I went past the admission’s desk and into the main part of the museum. I walked around the various exhibits, which explained how steel is made and the history of the steel industry in Youngstown. After I walked through the main exhibits, I walked down to the lower level of the museum. Down there are more exhibits about the history of the steel industry in Youngstown and a model of a machine found in a steel mill. After I walked around the lower level of the museum, I went back up to the main level. I walked into another room which had a model of a steel mill. After looking at that model, I left the museum, satisfied with my experience. I gave this museum five stars because it has nice exhibits.
Learned very interesting facts about the steel industry in Youngstown. Helped me learn what my grandfather did for a living. Highly recommend!
