Opens earlier than most 9am. Good coffee and sausage roll in pastry good. Seating inside catches the early morning sun.
Stopped for a quick coffee and a bite to eat during a visit to Ballater.

One Carrot cake and one Pancakes with bacon and Maple syrup with coffee.

Food is very basic, Cake was good but Pancakes and bacon not so much. The bacon looked like it had been cooked 2 days before and then reheated in a dirty pan as there was egg and white fat all over it. The bacon was hard and could have been snapped in two , not nice.

There are other places in Ballater that on reflection look a lot better than here !

Very nice cafe and attached gift shop. First time ever seeing a menu for dogs. How much fun for pet owners.

Lovely little cafe. We visited multiple times on our trip to Ballater. The employees are attentive and friendly, and the food is quite good. We tried several items; the big breakfast, pancakes and bacon, bacon roll with egg and cheese and the sausage roll. We asked about their bread and their pastries. We were told they make the pastries but their bread comes from Byron Bakery. It’s a great little place and quickly became our favorite breakfast spot.
We drove a bit and stopped here for brunch. Everyone was friendly and the food was phenomenal. I got a bacon brie cranberry panini and some tea. It was delicious!

Food, coffee and service always great and super dog friendly. Barkin brunch and dog friendly pancakes always a favourite when we visit.
A lovely old fashioned tea shop. Went in for a cup of tea and was served with the best ever fruit scone and also my first ever King Charles 50p coin. It also helps with having very pleasant staff.

The Full Scottish Breakfast we had this morning was very nice, very fresh tasting and well cooked. The staff were friendly and there’s a nice atmosphere. We will definitely return the next time we are in Ballater. Highly recommended.

Stopped in on a short visit to Ballater (charming little village). Lovely coffees and cakes. A little background music might lift the atmosphere. But worth a visit if you're in the area.

In summary, the worst breakfast I've ever ordered! Overpriced, stingy and luke warm. One egg, one tattie scone, one sausage, one slice of toast and half a raw tomato for ten quid (the photo tells the entire sad story). We both left still feeling hungry, which is the opposite of what you'd have hoped from a cooked breakfast - we ended up stopping at the Bothy in Braemar afterwards as we were still hungry (wish we'd went here for breakfast instead and can highly recommend here as an alternative to Bridge House!!). No beans or mushrooms, and excluding the toast that you'd expect as standard with any breakfast, there were only three and a half items on the plate! A pack of six tattie scones is 90p, box of six eggs £1.50, four pack of veggie lorne sausage is £2.25, six pack of tomatoes 85p and a loaf of bread £1.60 from the supermarket - so one egg, one tattie scone, one sausage, one slice of toast and half a tomato adds up to about £1.22. I know we're in an cost of living crisis but who is suffering from this the most? Certainly not the Bridge House Cafe, and definitely the customer. To top it off, it was luke warm. My friend also had one of their fancy hot chocolates - watery and tasteless. Ultimately, this place is all style and no substance. I, however, cannot fault the waiting staff who were the only saving grace as they were all lovely and this is clearly a management issue (if management say otherwise then it only highlights that management are the issue). You have to order at the till and so we had already paid by the time our food arrived, which is very sneaky of management as I would not have paid for this if I hadn't already! The staff were lovely and we didn't want to further ruin our experience by having to have an uncomfortable conversation with them about the management's decision to offer up such stingy portions for their breakfasts. I actually left feeling ashamed, knowing that so many tourists pass through Ballater and this pathetic breakfast is the impression visitors will have of a "full" veggie Scottish breakfast. Needless to say, we won't be back.

We stopped at the Bothy for lunch after our Cairngorms hike. The coffee shop was so cute and cozy on a beautiful Scottish day! We ordered two Tomato soups and a grilled cheese- sadly they had just run out of tomato soup so one of us got the Lentil, which was reported as very good. I think I overpaid for a grilled cheese but overall- the atmosphere was so cute and the shop smelled amazing of pastries!
We stopped off in Ballater and saw this cafe. Looked quaint. Quiet on a sunny Saturday afternoon and the staff were very nice. Only gripes were re the cake choice (only orange cake which was nice enough although perhaps a little dry). Great big slice. Coffee and tea very nice. Would definitely try it again if we are in the area.

Went for breakfast after a night of camping. The food was amazing and just what we needed, with an excellent range of vegan options too. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The facilities were clean. It is also attached to a little outdoors shop.

A fantastic café and outdoor shop with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I had the full vegan breakfast which was delicious - especially the vegan 'haggis' - and was very reasonably priced too.

This is a very simple breakfast and lunch cafe with basic sandwiches, friendly service and amazing homemade deserts. The prices are very reasonable and they have a good selection of drinks. Parking can be challenging but there are a few public lots nearby. Worth a stop for the deserts alone!

Very good experience as always. Food was amazing, couldn't fault it. Butchers products used and homemade cakes 😋. Very friendly staff who were happy to help. Only slight niggle was there was no hello on entry and had to ask staff member if we could just take a seat. Seen a few people walk in and linger awkwardly with no interaction from staff. But... it was a very busy day and when I spoke to staff they couldn't be more helpful. So this is a very very minor problem, wish I could give service 4.5 stars.

Nice vegan cakes (sampled the sticky date slice, and the choc and orange cupcake), friendly and fast service, reasonable prices.
Love the old Town feel. connect to the next-door store and counter order. Staff polite and accommodating. Order the Ham and Cheese with local soda(Summer house) and Soup. Soup very good and creamy. Sandwich feel fresh and well toasted. Excellent food
Amazing food, the tattie scones are awesome! Lovely, friendly staff are attentive, but not intrusive.

Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in the area!

Wonderful carrotcake and coffee. A double espresso did the job, hooked and will be back. ** we came again and loved it all over again. Sandwich and soup fresh. Wonderful staff, who show real interest in their guests. **
It is vey handy that this cafe is dog friendly. It even has two or three products for dogs to eat ( chicken pancake, ice cream etc).

The menu is a bit limited. It could do with some more options. The side salad is by made of a variety of green leaves, coleslaw and something similar to a cold ratatouille. Sorry to say that this kinda cold ratatouille has aubergines which are too hard to eat as in not well cooked. That’s a no.

Everything else is good.

Very lovely restaurant to have brunch with fresh English breakfast and freshly grounded coffee. Loved the environment and the ambiance of the place. The owner has suggested us some places to go around, very gentle.

Lovely little cafe in Ballater, open from 7.30am, which is very handy for early risers/workers, great friendly service from staff /owners, had an excellent breakfast, coffees, teas & cake, lots of items on the menu, for breakfast, lunch or a quick bite, excellent value for money, parking outside, disabled access and toilets on site, will definitely be back if in the area again.

This is a great coffee shop, delicious coffee and the best cakes. My husband really rates the sausage rolls too. I'm a veggie so can't comment but the blueberry scones are just perfect. 😋

Lovely place to take a relaxing break for coffee and cake. Nice tasty selection of cakes, with a few flavours I hadn't seen before and prices were average for drinks and food.
There is also a souvenir shop attached although those prices are rather on the high side aimed at tourists only.
The staff in both parts of the premises are all very friendly and helpful.
Parking is easy and free in nearby car park.

Absolutely love this place. Super friendly and very efficient staff. The best pancakes what I ever had. I had savoury and sweet and both Absolutely perfect. The veggie haggis was top. Very happy about the choices of non dairy milk.
Dog friendly which is amazing because our little dog goes everywhere with us. Definitely recommended. More places like this please

Lovely wee cafe with excellent food. A small basic snack lunch menu (see attached pics) but interesting surprise items such as mars bar scones. There is only 10 tables including some comfy chairs. Next time you are in Ballater pop in for a coffee and cake or haggis pannini.
