A very nice museum depicting the history of Indian cinema. Keep 2-3 hrs in hand as there is lot to see and explore. They even screen a movie for visitors. Ticket is decently priced at Rs 75 for adults and Rs 40 for kids. Must visit if you are in Mumbai
It is a very good place to spend a day away from the city crowd. Although surrounded by the city this place looks entirely different from the inside due to verdant trees. They offer cycling and boating and the famous Kaneri caves can also be seen. The bus service also to Kaneri caves is also available which is very affordable. There are a lot of monkeys and occasionally the deer can also be spotted.
One of the best places to spend a day away from the city crowd and enjoy the archeological marvel created ages ago and which stood the test of time. A good view of the city and the distant sight of the Buddhist Pagoda can be seen from the top most point.
I visited this place at 05:37 PM in the evening but was denied entry since it was almost closing time 06:00 PM. Next day I reached around 03:00 PM. Telling this because even 3 hours wouldn't last long as you keep exploring this place. The ticket price has been revised to Rs. 75 as contrary to Rs. 20 written on web.
Inside the museum, there are two buildings - the old one and new one. First you go to the old one where you'll witness how cinema was born and how it evolved. I cannot put into words the details of global and national cinema that you'll find here. There are antique instruments in form of audio and visual devices, detailed notes on various evolutions of cinema, photos from the past, etc. I'll leave it here in case of the old building. As for the new one, it has got some really cool tech for you to understand filmmaking on a deeper level like doing your makeup, animations, vfx, sound mixing, etc which is really fun. Just like the old building, you'll find here many historical figures who contributed to the Cinema, antique sound and visual devices.

Recently visited this place with my office colleagues for Saturday morning walkathon. It was very peaceful nature walk. We saw some monkeys and deer 🦌🦧. Very clean air .
First of all, SGNP as a park in the middle of a bustling city. Its an epic place. if one wants to just walk in the midst of nature, hike, cycle, this is definitely the place to be.
Depending on what one wants to do, this place can either be great or it can be a disappointment.
To start with, although the park is well maintained, it fails miserably in "directions". There are absolutely no boards anywhere to tell you where anything is located, how far it is, how much time it takes to get there, how to get there. everything needs to be asked to the local taxi wala who will try to coax you into getting into their private taxi.
There are two rickety best buses to Kanheri caves. Cheapest option to get to the caves.
Kanheri caves - probably the best thing inside the SGNP. Its a historical marvel and an heritage. Must visit. Its mind boggling what a 1500 year old civilization could achieve in terms of rock cutting without modern tools. Be careful with the monkeys though.
Frequency of buses is not that great, so wait times are long.
The biggest pain and disappointment - THE SAFARI (AVOID)
The entrance to the safari is so far, and there are hardly any options to get there. Its a long walk and we were lucky to just get a buggy on the way back. its easily 2kms walk from the main entrance to the safari ticket counter. If you follow directions to the ticket counter, you will fall into the creek.
The safari is done in an AC bus and all you see are - 2 lazy lions, 5 lazy tigers and a few deers grazing. Absolutely nothing thrilling about it. The safari in the bus lasts around 20-30mins and its less than the time it would take to walk to the ticket counter and back. Its embarassing to even call it a safari. No thanks.
There are enough options for mini snacks available all over and drinking water too.
Restrooms are ok, could be maintained bettter.

Must visit here in 2024, entry fees and lion and tiger safari fee is little high but it is worth going there 94/- entry fee and 124/- for lion/tiger safari, in monsoon season this place is not less than heaven, new electric buses have been made available for safari which is awesome, we can see lions and tigers from that very clearly and closely, 2 lions and 5 tigers are there one tiger is left open in the surrounding area of the park which is worth watching.

This is the best national park in India located so close to the railway station and the bus station. Just across the road hence very enjoyable. They have a zoo and natural animals too. They have electric vehicles for safari rides and also bicycles on rent. The entrance fee is nominal. ♿The entire park is accessible for the differently abled.

A one of its kind museum located inside the Films Division complex in Cumballa Hill. It is India's first cinema museum. Inaugurated in 2019, this museum is under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. It is housed in two buildings, the heritage Gulshan Mahal and the New Museum Building. This museum showcases history of Indian cinema through recordings, memorabilia, cameras, equipment etc. It is visited by locals and foreign tourists. The entrance fees are Rs. 75 per Indian adult, Rs. 40 per Indian child, Rs. 500 per foreign adult and Rs. 250 per foreign child. This museum is open from 11 am to 6 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It is closed on Mondays and Public Holidays. Photography is allowed. Videography is not allowed. Had roamed inside the both the buildings and got a glimpse of the history & modernization of Indian Cinema. This museum is an ideal place for families, children as well as film enthusiasts. It is a must visit and should not be missed.
Sanjay Gandhi National Park is good. Better go during monsoon. Safari is just ok only through bus. Caves are good, almost 100 caves. View from top is just awesome.filled with history and serenity. It's very peaceful place and you can see next to it lord shiva temple. It's a good heritage, religious with sacred river which is created by Lord Rama with his baaan . The ancient temple and river with unknown history of gods you cn see it's sourounded by many temples. Fresh water with ducks and fishes in the water ..in Mumbai it's underated place shd visit.
An ancient rock cut caves located on a hillock in Andheri. These caves are one of the oldest in Mumbai and is under the ASI. Earlier known as Kondivita Caves, these caves are visited by Indian and foreign tourists. There are 19 rock cut caves carved out of a solid basalt rock. There is a small garden in front of the caves. One can get views of the surrounding area on top of the hill. Earlier, there was no entrance fee. Now, the entrance fees are Rs. 20 per Indian and Rs. 300 per foreigner. One has to fill the form and pay the fees online upfront. These caves are open from 9 am to 5 pm everyday. There are mobile toilets and small wash basin installed in the vicinity. Had visited these caves, admired the rock cut sculptures and saw the water cisterns cover with leaves on top of the hill. These caves are an ideal place for families as well as history lovers. It is a must visit and should not be missed.
Amazing experience in the world...the park is very big....ample space for family picnic. Inside they have car service. Boating, lion and tiger bus...open zoo...and lots of children playing parks...have museums... food stalls and bycycle free area....can carry your cycle.
Nice place to explore buddh sculptures. Avoid on sunny hot days and during afternoon as it will be difficult to explore while sun shining out high. Monsoon wearing is best or some shady day

It is the most beautiful Shiva temple in Mumbai ❤️❤️❤️ Probably it isn't that famous so you only find locals there. Which is nice, this makes it very peaceful. There is a pond in front of this temple as well. You can see white ducks in that pond.

A must visit for those who have a passionate interest in film making and love for Indian cinema. This place at peddar road houses everything related to film making right from the time the first camera ever made to today's technology. It's quite a big museum and you can easily take 3-4 hours to visit the whole thing in detail. A lot of interactive sections too which takes the whole experience to the next level.

These are caves from ancient times. Total 100+ caves. The arrangement and pathways are paved properly however do watch your steps. Overall good experience. Too crowded during monsoon and beware of monkeys. Weekends might be crowded. Early morning visit is best though I visited post 3 pm. Bus service is available inside national park which is easy mode of transport.

We went by taxi to reach there. We have to purchase the tickets to enter the place. We will have to rent a cycle to reach the Buddha caves because it's too far from the entrance.

I visited Sanjay Gandhi National Park in the rainy season as well as in the winter season and both times the experience was unique and amazing. When I visited in the rainy season the view was amazing and the water accumulation at all the places just increased the beauty of the place. In the winter season when I visited it was good as well with less water but great weather for cycling. The day was sunny but not that hot a good combination of vitamin D and fresh oxygen. Both times I rented a cycle from nearby local vendors, you can get the cycle inside the parks as well but to avoid rush we booked a cycle on an hourly rental basis and went ahead. Both times when I visited the National Park we went to Kanheri Caves for which you have to pay an additional ticket of Rs. 25 for Indian Citizen and Rs. 300 for Foreign Resident. If you don't wish to rent a cycle you can also use public transport buses starting from the entry gate of the National Park to Kanheri Caves with fare of Rs. 13 only. It was a great experience overall and I can call it a fun and happening day.
PS. Cycle rent starts from Rs. 80 an hour till Rs. 150 an hour on the basis of quality of the cycle. If you book for the whole day you may get a discount. You just have to carry one original government ID card for the booking. And no need to worry there are multiple vendors outside National Park who provide cycles on rent.

Had a fantastic time at the National Museum of Indian Cinema, and I wanted to share my experience. The journey started off smoothly with convenient paid parking available for just 75/- Rs, making it easy for me to begin my visit.
Once inside, I felt like I stepped into a cinematic wonderland. The exhibits, artifacts, and memorabilia took me on a captivating journey through the history of Indian cinema. It was amazing to see how this art form has evolved over the years.
What I found really cool was the interactive displays that explained the ins and outs of filmmaking. It gave me a better understanding of the hard work and creativity that goes into making the movies we enjoy.

The beautiful construction of this place lured me, I entered as a visitor. It is well maintained inside too. Visitors can only move in the Lobby. It has membership charges. A very old collection of books they have.

We need to book tickets online provided with the scan code available at the counter. Per ticket is Rs. 20/-. Maintenance is well and benches are available to rest.
direct bus to mahakali caves from andheri station, hassle free entry, best for a morning walk, walk of 45min, not for couples, the caves are so cool. the greenery is worth it if you need an escape from all the noise in the city. you can pay entry fee by cash/upi and its only 20 something. please do carry water bottles/energizers and wear a good pair of shoes. do not litter the place. the security guards are kind.

Beautiful Kerala theme temple in Sahar village. It's like a holy hamlet away from city noises. The priests and other staff are very nice and cooperative. The charges of service are absolutely rational. A wonderful temple far away from Kerala : )

Most of us haven’t visited a library since our college days, and remember them to be big, airy rooms full of books from floor to ceiling. It’s been a place where many of us have been transported to another era or even countries far, far away. In a way, it has helped shape who we are as individuals. David Sassoon Library and Reading Room is one of the oldest heritage libraries in the city. And here’s why you need to visit it.
Built in 1870, right in the heart of town (opposite Kala Ghoda, to be precise), this beautiful heritage building with arches, a garden and old-world tiles, lets its members sit in the large garden space and munch on their favorite snacks. You can also spend your time browsing on the vintage deck chairs in the reading room’s balcony. Full of period furniture at every nook and corner, this library is the perfect place to spend some quiet, quality time.

Hands down one of the best gardens in South Mumbai. Maintained by the Mumbai Port Authority spanning 12 acres. If you try to locate this garden using Google Maps, be careful of the small lanes which lead to this garden as it can be a bit confusing. The garden is massive with a direct view of the Sassoon Docks and the Arabian Sea. When I visited the garden it was also raining which added to the beauty and landscape. The garden also has a small hillock in the middle and a glassed cactus garden. Plenty of flora. It also has rolling slopes and a long running track perfect for walkers and joggers. If you have a keen eye, you can even try to spot Mr. Ratan Tata's house from the shore. Truly the landscape is the best part about this garden. All in all worth a visit and with a bit more of maintenance it can be even better.
The David Sassoon Library and Reading Room is a famous library and heritage structure in Mumbai, India. The idea for a library to be situated in the center of the city came from Albert Sassoon, son of the famous Baghdadi Jewish philanthropist, David Sasson. You can find this library easily because this is situated opposite kala ghoda statute and JJ art gallery.
NOTE: They have Annual membership fees is Rs.6000 + Rs. 1000/- as Refundable Deposit + Rs, 1000/- as Admission Fees. A total of Rs. 8000/-is the total amount.

Pretty good place, ferries are available here for every 5 minutes per person charge is ₹15 and 2 wheeler charge is also ₹15.
I would suggest to take a 2 wheeler along with you as taking a rickshaw to the beach can be costly about ₹250 and during night time these fares can go upto ₹500-600 with rude behaviour of the rickshaw drivers.

Nice place....everybody can enjoy lots of fun by visiting here...first you can go to the borivali station (west) then by bus you go to the gorai creek bus stop .bus no. A294 then go by boat to the Essel world boat poin then walking distance you reached your destination THE GREAT PAGODA 👍
One of the best museum in Borivali . Museum is fully of arts and various old historical art effect .Best place to go along with the children .It take hard work to developed this type of thing .Various old Gandhiji resemble item , old art effect and many thing .

Very clean temple. Once you enter you feel the difference in you divine feeling.
Visited with my friends it is very peaceful place and enjoyed the view from above. You have took ferry from Gorai which cost around 100₹ return.
If you're a person who likes to explore a new place in every weekend or any other day then this might be your next destination,the garden is full of different plants & birds it also has a peaceful Seaview the timing has now changed and there is no entry fee
BPT garden is open from 6 am to 12pm and 4pm to 6pm. Beautiful place to walk, with view of the sea and lovely plants/trees and landscaped lawns and hills. There is a watercooler.
I found it interesting that the park recycles water from the neighborhood to ise.
Playground could be better. Broken swing needs to be replaced.

One of the most popular place not only for fish market but also to reach many famous resorts and beaches. I always visit hear in evening to get fresh fish of all types. This place is good for residential purpose as well.
Gorai khadi is creek between Mumbai's northern suburb Borivali & Gorai village which is situated on Western shore of Arebian sea. Gorai creek has ferry service to cross the creek. Once the ferry leaves jetty it hardly takes 5 minutes to cross creek to other side. Saturday & Sunday very crowded as people visit for 1 day picnic to gorai beach. People also come to visit Essel world amusement park & Golden Pagoda which are near Gorai village.
A calm and serene place located inside Shimpoli Road, near Borivali Station (West). A beautiful lane surrounded by nature, birds, flowers and a soothing overall soothing environment. Do visit Gandhi Ji's Photo Gallery (Museum), their plant nursery. They have Khadi Gram Udyog products too!

If you are staying in Colaba, this is the best place for a morning or evening walk and workout. It is so peaceful and green with good walking paths and benches. There are places to sit along the edges facing the sea and the view from here is very nice.

A beautiful museum to know about the life of Mahatma Gandhi ji. Entry fee is Rs.2 only. School can approach the authority for the permission to bring the students here. It looks lost but its care taker has maintained it beautifully. Everyone must visit once.

I enjoyed this place as was very interesting in the easy way you could go through Ghandi's whole history. I loved the little models of the major events in his life. I am such a fan of Gandhi that I loved it and found lots about him that I never knew.
The David Sassoon Library and Reading Room is the oldest library still in use in Mumbai. The library is a very handsome looking Neo-Gothic building. Inside, it looks like an old school reading room with a lot of old world charm, especially with the way the reading desks and books are arranged.
A nice place to visit for a bit of history and old world charm. The condition of the interior is a little sad though. There’s a lot of peeling paint all over the walls and water damage in parts of the ceiling. See it before it all falls apart!

Very beautiful temple
Shiva mandir with positive energy catch the Aarti 8 am I was lucky to make it for the Aarti many local regular devotees visit the temple with dedication.

A good place to enjoy *Sunset*. This garden has entry *fees* of *Rs5* per head. It is located by the sea. Can hear the sea wave crash on rocks close by. Kids will have fun with all the play equipment they have. A path is laid around whole garden and can be used for walking and jogging. Fitness equipments are available for exercising. Atmosphere is very clean and green. Expect a lot of variety of plants and local birds to be around. Washroom are available and so is clean drinking water. Parking depends on availability of space.
