Hadn't been here since a child, which was many moons ago. The tram driver was knowledgeable and was able to answer many questions. When we arrived at the manor house, or next your guide knew her history and spoke loud and clear. Once we were escorted thru the gardens, with our your guide, we reached the manor. We were then greeted by another tour guide who again knew her history and moved us along at an appropriate pace. She was able to answer our questions and was delightful to listen to. All in all, I would recommend visiting this museum.
This museum was absolutely spectacular. I was there for about an hour and a half, most people might spend an hour or less. This was my first visit and i loved all of the art displayed. There were 3D pieces, big and small paintings, puppets, it was so cool. Not only was the art displayed neatly and easy to navigate, but admission was free!! Also, the staff today were extremely friendly i love them. They greeted me with giant smiles, genuine care, and gave me information about the current displays and how they would change along with a pamphlet that gave information about the artists. I would definitely visit here again.

I walked around this beautiful little park a couple of times this past weekend while visiting the area. This park is well maintained, and the scenery here is absolutely stunning. There is also a cute little zoo that is great for little kids. The one thing I found a little odd was that the park had no restrooms around the perimeter. The only restrooms are in the zoo. This park is very quiet, and in the opinion of this New Yorker, I found it safe. I really enjoyed my walks, and this park is definitely worth checking out, whether you're a resident or visitor, like myself.

This is a nice little museum highlighting up and coming artists from all areas. For admission, they only ask for a small donation, with the minimum asking being $12. Since the place is small, you can spend at least an hour here looking at all of the fascinating exhibits. The museum itself is very clean and well organized. They have a large parking area, coat check area, restroom and a small gift shop near the entrance. I enjoyed my visit and would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves art.
Contemporary art gem. 💎 The exhibits and educational support for the community is outstanding. If you are an emerging or early established artist their studio residency program is excellent.
We had our 2year anniversary photos taken here and it was BEAUTIFUL! The cherry blossoms were blooming, the park was HUGE and is an amazing place if you are looking for some beautiful scenery. There's also some pretty good food places within walking distance/short drive and street parking after 6pm is free in the area!
This place is super cute and they take great care of an odd assortment of animals.

Don was especially great. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all the animals. Truly a delight!
Great place! The people were so informative and caring. I can’t wait to go back and see the animals again.

I took a very nice walk in the area. The scenery was very beautiful. There were many other people walking or running. Many picnic tables for people to enjoy. Walked over a 200 foot long suspension bridge that was built in 1909 and designed to carry foot traffic. They are called a swinging bridge. The rivited truss and towers are iriginal, making it historically significant.

The usual DuPont quality. In the summer, there is much to see and the grounds are incredibly beautiful and expansive. There is a lot of history here. For Christmas, they thoroughly decorate everything and it’s an excellent holiday experience.
Easy port in and out. Sailed on Regent Seven Seas Grandeur. Regent's brand new luxury cruiseship. Pier 93,92,87 is $20.00 /24hrs.

This zoo is wonderful! Very small but a great facility. To walk the whole thing and read about the animals it takes about 45 minutes. The animals look well taken care of and there's always staff walking around to answer questions. Some animals do get put away for weather and season but I still go to take my son for walks. The gift shop is cute and there are lots of photo opportunities throughout the zoo.
Although I was treated unfairly
I didn't get the experience that I wanted I'm from California but I don't go anywhere.. I put my faith in someone who is willing to desert me..
It's An Honor To Walk Back I Can Say
Traffic was tough at exit due to volume but we parked at 10:45 am and at 11:04 we were checked in on the ship and sitting in dining room ready to eat. Such efficiency blew my mind. Everyone was on top of their job and welcomed each passenger warmly. I’m so impressed. We had a 11 am on board schedule but was walking onto the ship at 10:55

Amazing museum about early American history of gun powder manufacturing, great tours of the factories, + great exhibition of 18th and 19th century American historical inventions and the history of copy right and patent laws.
Extensive lawns and walking paths near the port waterfront. Dogs love to walk here.

So beautiful here! All the people on the grounds were very nice and helpful too. I'm going to have to come back for more time in the actual museum after I was so distracted by how great the outside part was.

Although a small zoo, it is well maintained and in a lovely park setting. The day we visited late in the afternoon, the monkeys, red panda and lemurs were very active (we think because it was close to feeding time). They were fun to watch. We hope that environmental conservation can help preserve their natural habitats so that these beautiful animals don't just live in zoos.

We love our little local zoo. Very clean and accessible for young children. The staff is always welcoming and knowledgeable. Boo at the zoo this year was fantastic. The perfect amount of booths and activities.
I had an absolutely amazing experience at the Los Angeles World Cruise Center! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. The terminal was clean, well-organized, and the embarkation process was smooth and efficient. The views of the harbor were breathtaking, and the excitement of embarking on a cruise was palpable. Throughout my journey, the facilities were top-notch, with a wide variety of dining options, entertainment, and activities to keep me engaged. The cruise center's location is also convenient, making it easy to explore the surrounding area before or after your voyage. I can't wait to return for another adventure!
Coming from someone who has been to San Diego Zoo and the Bronx Zoo, this zoo was pretty depressing. Entry price is way overpriced for the venue. No military discount offered. I've heard that the animals seem sad and depressed, and after seeing them I agree. The lion looked starved and the giraffe enclosure was tiny. I definitely would not want to go again. I recommend finding a different zoo if you can.
Mixed feelings - luggage carriers were great to deal with and worked quickly. On the other hand, the people inside, one guy working the elevator, and one female at the customs check were very unpleasant with me. Plus the whole place stank bad. I’ll probably pick another port next time I’m looking at cruises, regardless of cruise line.
I love museums and galleries, and in recent times, I have been looking for something more manageable since I am not always able to walk as far or as long as other friends and family members. I want to mention this for any visitors who may bring along an elderly relative or someone with an illness or restrictions to their movements.

With this in mind, I must say this museum was comfortable and easy to navigate. I couldn't believe they didn't charge entry but simply recommended donations. I think it's worth the trip and donations to keep this valuable resource in the community! By the way, they have a store where I honestly had to stop myself from buying too many things.

As far as the art being showcased this season, it had interesting installations and interactives from 16 artists. I felt it called upon our curiosity and open-mindedness to observe and understand some of the topics woven through the art. I will admit this was a good experience for me because I'm not typically a fan of contemporary art.

I wanted to open myself up to new experiences. Trying to understand what some artists are trying to bring to our attention made for a good afternoon and great conversation after my husband and I left. I look forward to checking out upcoming exhibits this year and maybe visiting during an art loop.
Very interesting. Two display rooms. One on Delaware. The other on African American history in Delaware. You need lots of time if you read everything.
We took a Royal Caribbean cruise from here to Ensenada and a few ports in between. It was easy to park here as there was plenty of parking and the boarding process wasn't a bad experience.

Beautiful site! This place starts off at the main building which is a patent museum displaying the actual models of inventions when people applied for a patent. After that building, you can either walk along the path that guides you through the estate that contains the various buildings that were used in the preparation and manufacturing of gunpowder or take a shuttle that passes by every 15 to 20 minutes. Essentially it's a hop on-hop off shuttle. There is no additional fee for the shuttle.
You get to also go through the main house where the family lives and it's just stunning. Everyone there is super knowledgeable and informative. I highly recommend this place. It's extremely affordable and you can go at various times of the year to enjoy either the gorgeous summer landscaping or during the fall to see the leaves turning.
Fascinating and amazing museum around this DuPont family and their black powder factory / production along the Brandywine river.

A museum of American Decor, there's a lot to see. You'll also learn a lot about the DuPont family.

Great place to visit. This museum was so interesting. House tour was fantastic! ❤️🇺🇸

It's difficult to keep a review for this Brandywine Festival of the Arts short and sweet. After attending, I can attest to how this event and outdoor space work well for individuals with health limitations or disabilities like myself. A couple of my friends shared with me over the years how much they enjoyed the Brandywine Festival of the Arts, and I could see why!

Having it in Brandywine Park was spacious and convenient enough of a location to access. We came from Newark, and moments after exiting off of 95, we found parking. We didn't take a shuttle because it was close enough to walk past the school Warner, down the cobblestone street (which I love and remember from childhood), and into the park for the festival. You pay a $5 entry fee and start roaming about discovering the sights, sounds, and smells of food from over a dozen vendors.

Keeping the original spirit of the art fair from many years ago, the Brandywine Festival of the Arts still has live music, local food vendors, and children’s activities along with the local artisans. This festival was pet friendly, and people respected the suggestion to only bring dogs who can handle being around a lot of people. The vendor tents were all set up along flat grounds, which made an easier walk.

I saw several people in wheelchairs, families with strollers—and the only time it felt like a struggle was exiting the event and going uphill to the street where we parked. Those cobblestone streets don't feel so nice on the joints when it's steep! I suggest moving over to the green space to walk up the lawn if you find yourself in that position. All in all, I had a wonderful experience, and I enjoyed meeting some really creative souls while buying handcrafted gifts!
My son and I enjoyed seeing the animals! Animals seemed very happy and well taken care of. We will absolutely be back

Delaware has an abundance of beautiful parks and gardens, but the riverfront is my most favorite place to be. I go there everyday. Sometimes just to sit and look at people walk by,look at the beauty of the surroundings and walk. It's refreshing and a safe place.

Fabulous place to have an easy night walk. The place is well lit so it feels quite safe. There are ample benches to sit and watch the river as well. There are quite a few restaurants. All of them have an outdoor sitting area.

This is a wonderful museum highlighting the DuPont family beginnings from the early 1800’s after arriving into Delaware. The museum carries many interesting patented inventions. This is a must visit place your entire family will enjoy! Also Hagley museum has special events taking place throughout the entire calendar year. I can’t wait until my next visit!

We went to the beach for the weekend and this was the perfect wrap up. My granddaughter loves animals she said she wishes there would of been a wolf but she was so happy with the whole experience.
It's a pretty long park . Cool running/bike path with views of the harbor. They have a pirate ship with water for the kids to play in . Basketball courts ,really nice soccer field with astro turf .the park was well kept .plenty of parking and shade .
All of the animals were super sad and the lion was super skinny the enclosures were super sad and small. you could definitely tell the animals were very unhappy and a lot of the enclosures were empty. For my family of four it was 60 dollars, to me that is a lot of money to see depressed animals and empty enclosures. You pay 3 dollars per bag of food and if you want to feed all the animals you need two ( peanut and corn bag). The edges of the enclosures were super sharp, and my sister did end up getting cut. The employees were very nice but the place overall made me on the verge of tears for the animals. The skinny lion is in the picture sorry it’s not very good.

Great place to take a walk or sit and enjoy the waterfront.
We stopped here because the aquarium was sold out for the day. Of course we enjoyed seeing the animals, but the animals were disturbingly sad. The cages for the large cats and the monkeys especially are far too small and barren-- chain link enclosures on a concrete slab with little to no shelter and not much in the ways of fun or enrichment for the animals.

The poor giraffe stood still in the rain, its back pressed against the wall, looking distraught and stressed. Animals such as the giraffe and large cats are completely isolated with no companions. The white tiger, Sasha, had a wound on her ear and above her tail which she was licking. The Bengal tiger was pacing uncomfortably. The lion was curled up in a sad, lonely ball. These are animals that roam for miles in the wild.

The monkeys were biting the bars and anxiously climbing in circles. Most have companions, but the spider monkey is alone, swinging nervously around its enclosure. These are also animals that roam in the wild, swinging from trees and living in large groups.

We entered the reptile building and I'm pretty sure over half of these animals are dead-- the large snake was stretched out unnaturally, completely still, with its head resting flatly on the ground. The two-headed turtles didn't move: one was laying underwater and appeared to be missing its eyes while the other was flattened on a rock. The rattlesnake looked like it was posed in a way to look alive, although we have owned snakes and this is not a natural position. There is a room full of fruit bats that is an empty, dark cage. The bats were blindly flying towards the window (towards the light). The entire reptile exhibit left me feeling disturbed.

I have been dwelling on this place and the poor animals ever since we visited with a pit in my stomach. I am so sorry for them and they deserve better. Imagine spending your one life on earth in a chain-link cage, alone. It's a horrifying thought.
The Los Angeles World Cruise Center, situated amidst a shipyard, offers a distinct cruising experience that may not appeal to everyone. As a regular Royal Caribbean cruiser, I've found that this port doesn't quite meet the standards of the company's other terminals.

Firstly, the exterior organization leaves something to be desired. With luggage, shuttle buses, and crowds bustling about, it can be overwhelming for those not used to navigating such chaos. It's especially challenging for novice cruisers who may struggle to find their way around. This issue is compounded by the port's location in a busy shipyard, adding an extra layer of complexity to the mix.

Moreover, the aesthetics of the center are lackluster compared to other Royal Caribbean ports. Surrounded by industrial structures and equipment, the port lacks the usual welcoming ambiance and scenic views that cruisers may be accustomed to.

While the port does a functional job of serving its purpose, its organization and environment could use significant improvements. The LA World Cruise Center is best suited to experienced cruisers who can navigate the complex landscape, but for those looking for a smoother start to their vacation, they may want to consider other options.

The zoo is really small which can be great if you want to get in and out- but bad if you want to spend a lot of time there. Staff were friendly and helpful. One thing I did enjoy was combing goats and seeing the capybaras. Overall 3 1/2 stars!

Love this place. Everyone does. very nice and serene. quiet and a great place to bring the kids or dogs to walk, play, ride bikes or just sit on the rocks by the water and just read. It has a lot of shade and plenty of parking and conveniently right next to the Brandywine Zoo
looks small on the outside but huge inside. lots of animals, bring bug spray lol 😆 and they don't allow food, but at the same time, they dont search bags 😊 but feed the animals only the food they give you and respect this place.

I recently visited Brandywine Zoo and had a great experience. The zoo was not crowded at all, which was a huge plus. The staff was friendly and helpful with any questions I had. I really appreciated that my kids were able to roam around without me having to worry about them leaving my sight. This is a great zoo for a quick morning or afternoon trip to help your kids burn some energy. They had a petting zoo too which was a huge hit with the kids, and I especially liked how all of the exhibits can be seen from the child eye level. (don't have to keep picking up the little ones to see). We took a stroll along the Brandywine River right across the street, they have a beautiful paved trail and garden. Overall, I had a great experience at Brandywine Zoo and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun activity.

I want to start with that the staff is extremely friendly and mostly helpful. The animals look well looked after and happy. I probably should have looked into it more but this zoo is TINY. I spent maybe 30 minutes here, saw everything and doubled back on an animal or two. If you are in Wilmington for something else or in this area I think it is worth a few minutes. Do not make this zoo your main destination
Our tour guide, Seven Tucker would have made any tour at least five stars! The information he shared was fascinating and his passion for his tour was apparent from beginning to end. A visit to the Hendrickson house will not disappoint.

It's a very small zoo with limited animals. Kids definitely enjoy this place and totally it will take 45 minutes to complete visiting this zoo. Plenty of car parking available and also big lakes going in parallel to the zoo which is an awesome place for hangouts. Water in the lake is flooding at a very low level and it's clear water. Big park is available for kids to play.
I had the incredible opportunity to visit the museum on the evening that the University of Delaware was hosting its opening reception for their MFA thesis program, featuring local artists like @AmiracleArtistry. It was a real treat. We got to enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and beautiful artwork.

Absolutely amazing place!!! They got everything you need. The Riverwalk is an excellent place to exercise, grab a meal, get a view of Downtown Wilmington, and get awesome sunset and seneic views!!

Lots of history to read about along the way, so make sure you take your time and read some of the informative displays that are posted along the Riverwalk. Even has a few of the old cranes that were used to load and unload ships.

I did several miles today and didn't even realize it due to all that there is to see. As always, I recommend this for the entire family for a day of fun and adventure. I recommend this for couples who would like some time alone. I also recommend this for those who have fur babies and want to exercise them as well!!

I had a great time looking at all the animals. The lion was showing off and roaring. All the animals seemed happy and well feed. The only place you can pet a mini cow and see a lion and monkey at the same time.
Cool spot for Delaware military history
First time cruiser. I wasn't sure what to expect. This port was so easy to find, and maneuver around. The porters were super friendly and the whole process from arrival to parking to embarkation was quick and easy. Then, upon returning after the cruise....just as quick and easy. I could see my bag before I even got into the area. Grabbed it, stood in front of the facial recognition camera and I was on my way. Parking was $100 for a 5-day cruise.

The Wilmington River Walk is a great place for a walk, to hang out, or to hit a resturant/bar. At least 6 resturant choices and 3 hotels(Hyatt Place, Homewood Suites, and Westin). Frawley Stadium, home to the Delaware Blue Rocks baseball team, is also located in this area. The shipyard that used to be on the waterfront, built landing craft (LSTs) for the Navy during WWII. The large cranes still exist at the site. Overall, a great place to visit.

We took advantage of nice weather in February & admission is free during the winter months. It's a very small zoo, but clean, well kept & a nice little stop if your re in the area. We saw a variety of animals & enjoyed our visit. It's situated near the river Bank, so it's a scenic place to stroll & picnic. Restrooms are in the gated zoo area. There isn't a playground, but there is an area for kids to play in the zoo, logs to crawl through & jump on.

An intimate, pleasant zoo in the north part of the city. If you have kids, definitely take them here if you can. If you don't, I still recommend coming here anyway, because it is a enriching and beautiful experience. You won't have to spend a lot of time here. It is not that hard to navigate the zoo, and will not take that long. If you come here in the winter months, admission is free, and you don't need to buy a ticket. The process of coming in is actually quite easy and simple. The downside is that not all the animals are here in the winter months, but a lot of them still are present. This collection includes the adorable and quite lovely red pandas, always a highlight. I have to say that my favorite moment of my trip to the zoo was probably the condor, a graceful and somber creature that I was able to get quite close to. It is large, and every majestic feather glistens darkly in the sunlight. There is a little white ruffle across the neck, and there is an exotic--yet familiar somehow--majesty to this bird that by itself make the trip worthwhile. Whatever your interest, I hope that you will find something worthwhile and compelling here. If you're in Wilmington and you have some time to spare, definitely come here, especially if you have kids.
Part of First State NHS. Excellent. Guide was very engaging & knowledgeable. Tour of 1st floor of house & 1600s church. Ancient graveyard. Enjoyable history.
Steve the owner explained that NY State took his big animals when his wife passed. But he is exceptionally educated about the animals, birds and insects. He takes a donation. I was thrilled to see 2 Eurasian owls with orange eyes!

Interesting history and example of water powered machines. You can watch as sluice gates are opened and water begins to start turbines. Very cool demos. Last entry is 3pm but if you want to visit the home, you should arrive by 2pm. We arrived at 2:30pm and had missed the last shuttle bus that takes you to the home. The museum offers discount rates for people who have and active EBT card ($2 per person).
This place is super cool ! I just went and watched a glass blowing demonstration by Corning Museum of Glass Mobile Hot Shop. It was like watching an episode of Blown Away live so you could ask any questions you might have while they were doing it. Amazing!
This was a great museum. I love that it was interactive. Definitely worth a visit. The best part was meeting some of the artist in residence, some were actually actively creating, others were explaining and engaging. It was a great experience!

Shout out to the youth program they offer as well.

I enjoyed this walk by the river. The area had excellent views of the Wilmington skyline as well as the grassy arena across the area. It's very commercialized, with restaurants, a children's museum, golf course, and farmers market. Unfortunately I visited on a Tuesday in March and most things appeared closed. Parking is scattered throughout the area so check a map. My only complaint is the bathrooms were closed. Thankfully the market had theirs open.
Not a single word about or from the people and cultures that were there first. History is shown only from the start and perspective of colonisation and civil rights. Important but far from enough!
Beautifully decorated for Sanka Lucia's day. Learned a lot about local history! As first time visitors to the site, we were pleasently surprised by how much history was here. We'll be back for sure.

Me and a few friends a mine rode are bmx bike for a small event for pedal bike. Very organized. Alot of room to ride. Vendors and sponsors music. Had a nice time.
This park is beautiful. Just went there for CicLAvia. It’s definitely great for a bike ride!
Very informative staff and organization with a selfless cause. Depending on when you go, the animals at the refuge may vary. When we visited, new enclosures were being constructed. Great place to visit on a sunny day. There are nature trails as well (optional). Steve was very informative, but there is very little about each animal's personal story and how/why they arrived at the refuge on display unless you asked someone.
It was very fun, the people and community is so sweet. I went for a run and it was so amazing!!! I got to take pictures as well. It is a must go.
I love going here with my girlfriend and our dog Chewy its are great spot to take him for a walk..
Great opportunity to teach kids about local adirondack wildlife conservation. The speakers were very knowledgeable and willing to take the time to engage visitors. The animals are well cared for and the grounds appear clean and well managed. This is a must stop in the Lake Placid area. Our family will certainly be returning when we visit the area again. Highly recommended.
Wonderful experience. Staff was attentive to all the animals needs and along with wild desires. Donations were accepted at the door, as you felt was appropriate. Was able to see many animals including bears, owls, and coyotes, many more too. Highly recommend this experience was approximately 30-50 minutes. Walk was not too strenuous and well paved for most part. There is an educational experience which includes a lecture with the tour at certain times of the day!
This was an interesting museum. I enjoyed the Delaware history exhibits and the African American exhibits. Old Town Hall was also interesting
Neat history
Great exhibits and great lecture s
Absolutely fantastic! A must see if you're anywhere around New York/DC and interested in Swedish history, especially if you're from Sweden as I am. Of course you have to take the tour which is only 5 USD. We had a great and enthusiastic guide (Kyle) who told us about the church and the Swedish colony. Personally I have to say without a doubt this was one of the best and most interesting I've experienced anywhere in USA.
The museum celebrates Delaware’s heroes and their impact on history.he museum is located at the same sight as the Delaware National Guard Wilmington Readiness Center and the Mid County Senior Center on First Regiment Road in Sherwood Park II, just off of McKennan’s Church Road. t is run be very hepful volunteers,
After 3 years of living in Wilmington we finally made it here! Our tour guide Kyle was very informative, knowledgeable and excited to talk about the history here. He gave a wonderful one hour tour for only $5 a piece! A hidden gem in Wilmington's history that should not be missed.
Absolutely wonderful place. The animals are exciting to see an quite the variety. The trails are really nice too if you just want to take a short nature hike while you're there. Donations are requested but it is free to visit otherwise. Really enjoyed our time there
The park has wonderful events and is a great place to relax.
An excellent introduction to the life of a Swedish family and what they would have as they settled in America. The many different items in the collection we explained. It was most interesting to see and touch Flax as we was being processed and then the final cloth.

This is a nice park with a small zoo next to it. I enjoyed walking the paved trail that goes through the park and the city.
This was the nicest sanctuary I've ever visited. The people that worked their were wonderful and very generous with all their knowledge. I meet many of the employees/volunteers but Wendy and her husband Steve really stood out. They really care about the animals and educating the public about the various animals. Steve was in with the wolves and was so kind even to 2 separate idiots who brought their dogs to " bond" with the wolves stood in front of their enclosure. It is amazing how stupid some people can be, but he did not get mad just very kindly tried to explain how the omega wolf who was showing interest in someones goldendoodle would be punished by the alpha male because of this interest .The idiots did not get the hint and then their dog barked at the wolves, not so bright. Of course they were in a cage, but why would these people stay after hearing the wolf would be in trouble by the alpha wolf. Steve was so much nicer to these folks than I would have been.
The whole sanctuary was so interesting the staff friendly and a definite highlight of my trip to the Adirondacks.
They had great photographs ready to frame, even matted at extreamly reasonable rates .
There is nothing of more value in the area, you pay what you think it was worth, they did have suggested guidelines, but I would say any price was a bargain for the amount I learned that day.
I went with a group of adults but kids would love the place, the ones I saw were well behaved which was nice not to have loud running kids banging on the fencing. I would suggest leaving house pets at home, it only upsets the animals, I'm sure the peoples pets were not that happy about being there either, especially the 10 pound dog the owners had to hold since it did not want to walk by the coyotes.
Very big, very informative. I have been a native to Delaware my entire life, although short I still never knew most of the things brought into the light at this museum. I'm not sure how much regular admission is, but for college students with ID it's only $5. Worth the price, worth the parking meters (parking is along Market St, most are meters, 2 hrs max).
Whenever I visit another city/state I'd check out their museums. I enjoyed the DHM so very much. I'm a southern girl and it gave my heart so much pleasure seeing the dolls representing the "Four Little Girls" of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing. Awesome museum.
Great displays in historical context.
This is the second time I have visited the Museum since it reopened. I love the design with lots of images and text surrounding you as you walk through the exhibit. It was great being there this week for a panel discussion on Race and Education in Delaware. There is important work done here by local leading African American experts in education.
This museum is so well done. They had a lot of interesting artifacts and explanations covering a range of state history. The best thing, though, was the section on black history in DE. Absolutely well done! I learned things that I have never heard before, particularly about the state of schools for the black population 100 years ago, which promoted the Dupont family to reach into their own pockets to make a difference in the lives of these children. I also learned that DE played a role on the plaintiff's side in Brown vs. the Board of Ed, and even information about DE's involvement in the underground railroad. This place is a well-kept secret! Very reasonably priced, as well, and it even has student discounts. I would definitely go again. I'm pretty sure that I didn't even see everything!
Don't come here. Three things. 1. Their website claims the offer tours. Their website lies, they don't. It's a self guided pamphlet. 2. The church is next to a human waste sewage treatment plant and the smell will stick to your clothes and linger in you car well after you're gone. 3. And lastly, and least important to me personally but of note to other people, this church is in a really rough part of town. Lock your doors and only go during the day time. Tourist trap. Take a pass.
This is a fantastic display of Delaware military artifacts, and much more is planned for the future.
Recommend this museum in the heart of Wilmington. Though it's not very large it has a number of interesting artifacts and exhibits. It was informative and well organized. You'll learn some new things and won't have to give up too much of your day.
