Not interested in the gallery I was only interested in the building and history. Sign boards would have been good explaining about it. Was part of the RAN armoury. Old rail lines going to and from it to the old nearby wharf. Great walks around and great for bikes too! This place would be packed on weekends. Weekdays much better when I visited almost had the place to myself. nothing open for eats on off peak times but bring your own lunch and drink, I did. Free Car park near by was also quiet through the week.
This is a really great elevated walkway allowing a fantastic view of the water storage and let’s you observe the bird life. I saw some black swans which I definitely enjoyed and didn’t expect. Probably not good for people afraid of heights because as I said it is elevated. I went around the walkway twice both times I have been. I really enjoyed it and I think it’s well worth a visit. You can see the Easter show from the walkway.

What a beauty, recommended to go early in the morning, sunrise is epic
This riverside Park located in a very convenience area, it will only take less than 15 minutes to travel here from most of the popular suburbs. The park itself has beautiful scenery, many neat and tidy picnic tables with shelter and clean BBQ hotplates. Toilet and hand washing facilities are good too.

Didn’t know it existed until watching ABC documentary- the secret lives of our urban birds. It is only 5 mins walk from the free Marjorie Jackson Pkwy Public Car Parking, nice spot to take a walk and enjoy the birdview down the pond or the skyline. May need to do some homework at figuring out the timing for seeing different bird species.

The site also carries a piece of history of modern Australia, well worth the visit.
Undoubtedly this is one of the best parks in Sydney region. It is big,it is not crowded,it has excellent land scaping, Lush green grass, cycling track,Riverside BBQ spots,Free Parking, excellent children playing areas with variety of swings, slides and climbing options.....
Just taking out one star due to Limited car parking.

This is a must visit Park believe me ! Recommended !

Huge park with many play equipment that is spread around the area. There are many shades but only few with tables. Bring your own mat for family outing which can be placed anywhere under the shades or on the open field.

Relatively hidden gem in Olympic Park, located along a popular path. Has a telescope and multiple historic shipwrecks.

I remember going there when I was raining that day. I enjoyed the experience of going there again
Put the kids on bikes or scooters and take them through Newington Armory. We had a great time wandering around looking at the buildings and seeing what we could see. Take your time going through here and make sure you have water bottles and use toilet facilities beforehand... especially the kids!
This is still one of the best playgrounds in Sydney! Complete with water play area for kids, there is a flying fox, climbing wall up to the top of slides, big swings, tunnels and more. Grab a portable gas BBQ with you to make lunch of dinner while the kids play. You can happily be here for hours!

Parking is available in two areas. Down the bottom towards the water, and on top of the hill by the top of the park. Parking can be tricky as this park is super popular.

Silverwater Jail is next door but don't fear, the residents are well and truly contained.

If you want less crowds, best time to visit is early in the morning during weekends, or during the week.
This location is a real surprise for the diversity of birds! Who knew we get Russian birds fly here for Summer! Latham's Snipe migrates here, and a real treat. Sunrise and a windless day, is an ideal time for side light on the lagoon to show feather details best.

It's a beautiful park. Our go-to place for a midday or evening stroll. Great place for kids!
A nice area for a walk. It’s good for adults and children alike - no adrenaline rides but certainly historic and lots to learn. Bbq and playground facilities but they get very busy (so does parking) do best get there early on weekends.

The Brick pit is now a water recycling /reclamation area with much wildlife calling it home with many Australian birds, reptiles and frogs. Visitors can look down on everything from a massive sized ring.

Excellent use of public land after the Olympics. Really visionary planning, which is directly opposite to what is happening in Brisbane, where there is proposed removal of parks for games venues.
Entertaining full circle walkway which is quite high up off the ground over an old brick mine pit. It has nice views and I see wetland birds below along with a couple of little brick buildings.
This is a Super Park for the family. Massive areas for yout picnic, bike riding, kicking the soccer ball etc. The play equipment is epic and kids absolutely love this super park. Car parking is difficult as it's very popular so arrive early. This is a 10 out 10 park.
Extraordinary view, blissful 😊
Never thought a place like this exists. A secret spot and a must go 🚶‍♂️ in your to do list.

Great place for some bird watching and photography if you’re into it. The actual shed is a lil far away from where the birds are and yes better off with a binoculars but going around the path you should end up on a better spot, much closer to the birds. Was really happy with pictures I took.

We had a great family day out at this walking track. It is a great walk high above a previous brick pit. It feels a bit like a forest skywalk but has a safer feel due to the more sturdy construction. The pond is very nice but slightly polluted. There are some good city views in the distance to add to scenery. There are numerous information sections along the tract to give information about the natural environment.

AMAZING play area for the kids, absolutely massive!! Swings, slides, climbs, flying fox, spinners, cubby house, water play... Cafe with a decent food selection, restaurant by the water. One of our favourite places to spend a day in the school holidays!

This was a great space for the event I attended. it was easy to get to by public transport, it has playgrounds for kids, lots of shade from the sun, lovely grass areas to put a picnic blanket down or picnic tables and chairs for use, plenty of restrooms too. the water feature was a nice touch. This is a lovely park to visit.

Wonderful mangrove Forest. The closest yiu can get to mangroves by walking on the wooden platforms. Lots of information about the mangroves so a lot of learning about these amazing plants. Saw many fish in the water and many birds and wildlife. Some huge spiders and spider webs along the path all part of the experience! The surrounding area is nice and green and the place is easy to get to from Sydney but feels so natural and rural.

Amazing vast park with amazing play equipment. Great for adults and kids alike. Really enjoyed the tree house climb!

Turn in from the gaol next door. For some reason I always miss the turn as you would not expect it to be so close but everything is very safe!

I saw this on Secret Life of Urban Birds and had to visit. Well worth a visit. Good for bird watching. There were hundreds (if not thousands) of waterfowl below. The information signs along the ring sometimes produce a voice, which spooked me a couple of times (there was no other visitors when I visited).

Though this walk is great, it's not very long. If you're after something a bit more substantial, check out the Water Bird Refuge just 15 min walk from the ring.

This is such a great attraction. There are few wrecked ships and it is next to a beautiful apartment's pool. Good place to walk around. It is also close to bus station and only 20 minutes walk from Olympic Park train station.

One of the best parks in Sydney. Even though it is but crowded it is still fine. There are plenty of play areas for kids to spend entire day. This park is unique in its own way. Adventurous nest, rope way, water park, playground etc.

A nice quiet place that's part of a bigger walking trail. Great view of the surrounding suburb and was especially quiet. Most people you'll come past will be riding their bikes along the paths

Newington Armory was alright. Lots of seating areas to enjoy the spectacular views of the river. Second, it was raining in the morning, then stop. Didn't have time to play badminton Parking spots were not hardly going. Closed for the gallery, enjoy my time there today

Newington Armory is part of the heritage-listed Newington Armament Depot and Nature Reserve. I always enjoyed visiting this old ammunition storage depot because it's filled with buildings that were once used as workers' buildings and bunkers for ammunition storage. The old gatehouse is just exquisite and the old wharf area has the majestic Parramatta River as a perfect setting. My favourite places to visit are the Murama Dance Ground, Murama Healing Place, the Armory Wharf Café, Adventure Playground, and the River Marker of Blaxland Riverside Park. There's so much to appreciate here and I recommend taking the River Walk Promenade from Louise Savage Pathway and soaking up the ambience.

Building 18, part of the Newington Armament Depot, is sometimes used for art exhibitions, especially for high schools. When I visited this building it was closed as it's only used occasionally. What I find interesting is the building and you enter through a tunnel as part of blast-proof walls. There's a wheelchair ramp as well. I can't tell what's inside the building but the whole premise is just eerily stunning. As a bonus, I suggest spending time at the Murama Dance Ground as it's right at the entrance.

This is part of the Coastal Saltmarsh and Bird Hide area. It's a great place for birdwatching. I normally walk past here and occasionally stop to look at the waterbirds. It's definitely worth visiting, even if you're not into birdwatching. It's a tranquil setting.
Such a good place for walk. Peaceful and quiet. The shipwreck lookout and the bridge made the place more special and awesome🥰. The place have lovely apartments on the side.

Beautiful spot to view the many shipwrecks that litter this alcove bay. Love it here because I have a clear view of Wentworth Point and Rhodes. It's sun-drenched and I recommend sunsmart. It's not far from the Bay Marker and the bird sanctuary.

The Badu Mangroves area is an experience to enjoy. I love walking through here, especially in hot weather, because it's cool from the breeze flowing through the mangroves. I especially like walking through here because of the Muru Nanga Mai Dreaming Track that is meandering through the mangroves. It can have a rather unpleasant smell, but it's not overpowering. Watch out for cyclists and dogs aren't allowed in this area due to the number of birds and wildlife. There's a public lavatory at the Studies Tower of the Education centre. And parking is at Badu Mangroves car park nearby.

It's a beautiful sculpture made of three elements on metal legs. It's to the north side of the Bicentennial Water Feature. It was commissioned to celebrate World Peace Day. Information about this monument suggests earth's axis and planets alignments. Fascinating sculptures surrounded by stunning parkland of the Bicentennial Park.

What a fantastic park! During the day the water play area is on. The slides, swings, tunnels eating areas are set out really well. There is plenty of space to accommodate large groups.

Public toilets are located pretty far from the playground though.

If you plan to visit the park during the weekend or school holidays, you will need to get there early to get a parking spot as there is very limited spaces. Once the car park is full, you will need to park the car pretty far away and walk to the playground.

Very nice secluded area. Short distance away from the station and a short walk in of itself. Contains informative stands with limited shelter and seats.

The view is quite unique, and shows sadly how bad algal blooms are in the waterways. As this is a habitat protection area, please leave your pets behind.

Opens at sunrise and closes at sunset. No bathrooms, but located close to parks that do.

Quiet, cozy and relaxing environment. If you want to go just for shipwreck lookout doesn’t worth it. If you go for a walk , run , chilling next to the lake or discovering nearby park yes it’s worth it to come and visit.

A nice walking track from Rhodes to Wentworth Point. Tried to spot some wildlife and saw some birds, blue tongue lizards.
This is a great walk the venue is very cool and the walkway itself captures the imagination. The water down the bottom is a touch in the stagnant side so needs some work but there are still birds in it so not toxic yet.
Great part of the park and worth a visit.

Lovely park, smack bang in the middle of Olympic precinct.

Unfortunately, lack of trees and shades (aside from the sides) makes it extremely hot in summer.

Good for walks and parks has amenities. Perfect for families on a day out with a picnic.

Also, the site holds several events throughout the year, ie. Royal Easter Show, Sydney Vegan Market.

There is a children's park, picnic area and of course a big shower area or what ever you say that. Water keeps pouring every 15 mins. A great place for picnic with family and friends.
I loved going here and I spent a couple of hours enjoying taking photos of all the beautiful birds here. There are so many vantage points to see the birds from and there is a hut located close by for the hot days. Well worth a visit if you like bird watching. There are some shipwrecks and nice views to see along the walk to get to this location.
Very nice and clean.
There is children under 7 good play ground cover by soft Flore and to many trees .
Really good if your kids falling off you no need to worry ,because complete safety .
Nearest toilet and drink water.and also lot off attractive place and train station just 200 MTR.

This spot is alright for long exposures and astrophotography is actually somewhat possible here.

You will probably need an ultrawide lens to capture the Milky Way over either the nearby shipwreck or the lookout itself as it's in an awkward position.

The skies are very light polluted, as expected. It is rated a Bortle 7.

My family and I come to the Newington Armory all the time and it's a great spot. Basically a FREE children's theme park with great views and tons to explore as adults.

We love creating content there too. Love it!

This is a very nice place to go and enjoy the mangrove shrubs and trees. It was very quiet when I went. There are a lot of boardwalks along the path with some areas to sit and relax to enjoy the mangroves or take a rest. Very easy walk and there are some ponds located at the other side of the mangroves. Be careful if you don’t like spiders as they have webs throughout the walk and it is easy to walk into them.
Still a great spot to spend some time.
Really good place to wonder around and enjoy wildlife... You'll run into some friendly birdwatchers and photographers early morning and late afternoon

Hidden gem of a raised walkway over the Badu Mangroves which is accessible via the walking paths off Parklands Circuit but this is not very well sign posted so Google Maps is the best guide to get there. The old wooden planks have all been removed and upgraded with a new weather resistant walkway but this is still subject to flooding after heavy rain. The entire boardwalk is flat with no steps on the main path so is suitable for prams and wheelchairs. Best to take your time slowly moving along the boardwalk or you may easily miss out on seeing the wild life well hidden amongst the heavy tree cover.

Calm and tranquil spot in the middle of the city. Best place to park the car for access is on Parklands Cct car park near Bicycle NSW headquarters. Dawn or dusk are the best times to see the waterbirds. Nearby attractions all within a few hundred metres walks are the boardwalks over the Badu mangroves (south), shipwrecks lookout (north), Billabong creek (east). Full bathroom facilitites are on Parklands Cct at the Sydney Olympic Park Education Centre.

Lots of history to discover here at the Armory; close to toilets, cafe, parking and playground.

Next to parramatta river.

Can hire bikes or segways to explore the area - there are so many great bike tracks!

Also a kids worksheet to fill in if you visit the visitor info centre - great way to fill in half an hour before a coffee by the water!
