Never disappointed when I visit. The scenery is amazing and clean. If your passing through walsall don't miss out on seeying Arboretum! And if feeling peckish or want a warm drink then pop in to the cafe. Enjoy! 😊
It's such acalm,Warm quiet and safe place lively abd clean cafe is great,wildlife from bunnies to geese to ducks and more well well worth a vist
Used this park many years ago to exercise at school
Nice place for a walk, kids bike or scooter ride. Plenty of green space, an ice cream van, kids play area, cafe and pools to walk around. Large, free car park on the Broadway.
It could be a really nice park, but it's lacking a bit of tlc in many areas. It's still nice for a walk, i suppose. It probably would benefit from a warden doing the rounds occasionally to prevent drug taking in one particular area of the park. Might as well build some houses on it if the council can't maintain it, that would be a better use of the land, Can't say I'll be going again
Great little escape close to civilisation. There's a variation of areas from wide, lit macadam paths, secluded woodland walks, open meadows, canal walks and lots in between. In general, it's quiet and you're likely not too see too many people whilst out and about.
There's lots of variety in vegetation - it isn't like Cannock Chase for example where most trees beech, pine or birch.
Seems safer than you might expect. I saw a makeshift campsite that had been abandoned with rubbish left so the area is is not without its idiots.

Nice park, but could do with some upgrades on park equipment in play area
Very calm area best for morning walks, jogging, exercising and other activities. Good for gatherings, picnics, or just to spend your day in nature. Good fishing spot and lots of birds too. Recommended to visit
Beautiful, wild area. Perfect place for a quiet stroll or to burn off some energy for children and pets alike
Great park and water/splash park. Toilets on site are very basic, had no toilet paper and doors didn't lock properly, but park was very busy.
Free parking on Broadway but it's a 15 minute walk to the park. There is also a big pond to walk around and lots of walks through trees. Ideal for pushchairs, bikes and scooters.

Marked and maintained trails, vehicle free. Suitable for picnic, cycling, pets and young kids. Has a car park. Spotted birds and big dragonflies.
There was a vintage car show on so it was great we arrived quite early and got a good parking spot as time went on I think parking was a little difficult plenty food and plenty cars to look at I loved it
Fantastic place to bring the kids. Even moreso when the weather is suitable for kids to get wet. Large grounds, free parking, two playgrounds plus this supercool water splash area. All free entry.
Been going to Shire Oak for years and the improvements made years ago in some areas need a few repairs. Otherwise it's a lovely area for short walks.

Although the park is ok, sadly people visiting do not adhere to certain rules. Watching their children, littering and letting dogs inside a small park. This place does need a clean up, plenty of rubbish bins around. Great for walks and a bike ride, just wish it was a better environment for smaller kids

Absolutely beautiful park in Walsall great for family walks never had a problem and they've also fixed the park abit compared to how it used to be for many years apart from the locals ruining the new equipment other then that I would definitely recommend this park to anyone who just enjoys the outside beautiful views
It's ok. But I am not sure if there is restroom as I was searching for one, and amount of equipments for play are also limited.

Great outdoor space. When the youth aren't trashing it.! Lovely place to pic nic in the summer 100% Well kept over the winter time. Used by regular walkers, runners and workout people.

A good park with play facilities, sculptures, basketball court and a bandstand. The pathways are all in good order - it's about 1km circular route. The outdoor gym facilities are also excellent - two areas and both in good condition (see photos).
Safe, clean, no rats :p, exercise equipment, friendly people, lots of cute squirrels

Great place to walk with the kids. They can ride their bikes in peace and fall off them too. Plenty of birds to spot and they love a walk along the canal to see the ducks.
It's not great for dog walking. Broken glass almost everywhere. Afternoon and evenings can be get rowdy with teenagers, they can get destructive , burning waste bins, breaking leisure centre windows. Can be pleasant when there are no kids trashing the place.
I don't rate the park well. There is no playground. Not enough benches to sit. There is a skate park, but often in the afternoons the crowd is not interesting and people are afraid to go there with their children. Tennis courts closed. In fact, there is nothing to do with children if they do not take their bicycles, scooters or ball from home. At the end of the park, at the school gate, it's always dirty. Garbage is everywhere.

Lovely park area. It's a shame when local (maybe) children just litter the park and bins are available. No playground swings for young children or slide. It has a skateboard area and basketball area, a bowling green and x2 tennis courts that I understand you need to book via the council to use. Local football practice at the weekends. It's nice to see people using the park area. Local dog walkers also present.
Amazing little space. It's been really quiet both of the times we've visited. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area!
There is parking for around 20 cars, from where you can walk into a mixed woodland. There is also a large open grassy area in the middle.
My rating is a very personal one, in that, we visited early evening for about an hour and both got absolutely covered in bites.

This has the best outdoor gym in the whole of the West Midlands. The only reason I visited. The rest of the park is basic and there's not much in the local vicinity. But 5 stars for fitness.

P.s. no facilities apart from a pub on the road that use to go into Park Lime pits, so bring water if it's hot

Such a beautiful place to walk around, nice little car park and 2 pubs close by to have a drink or something to eat on way back.

It's a nice open spacious park. Good for picnic and pet friendly.
A quite walk in Walsall Wood with sufficient parking for over 20 cars. Multiple pathways lead you in a circular motion with lots of views of the surrounding area, most notibally Stonnall. Multiple areas for sitting and relaxing but no real open areas for dogs running around. You can walk through wooded areas and give your dog/s some mental training with lots of new sniffs around.
Well we’ve lived here a long time and never realised this park existed! There is a small car park and a series of marked walking routes, taking in the former quarry and woodland. It makes for an interesting walk, particularly if you are interested in the geology of the area, as there are signs explaining the history of the quarry and its evolution. Some of the paths can get quite muddy if wet so be prepared.
Beautiful footpath along the now redundant canal extension, lots of wildlife including now parakeets who you can hear before seeing. The only problem around here are the men meeting in the woods playing sausage jockeys, normally only in the summer time as too cold for the sausage in winter.
I really enjoyed living close to Clayhanger Common. It's got just enough pathway, and just enough wild to feel accessible and yet somehow remote. I liked finding my way into the lesser known clearings where paths have been forgotten, and happening upon deer lying in the grass. It's a chance to escape within easy reach.
Strange lumpy bit of ground; about 1½ miles around the outside, with various paths crossing the middle. Looks very well used but very little rubbish to be seen (except the full bins in the car park).
Certainly good for the locals to walk their pets, and okay for a one-off stroll in the good weather.

Park Lime Pits is a lovely nature reserve (located next to a canal) that is great for walking & getting out & about in the fresh air. My son throughly enjoyed paddling in the stream (wellies essential) & finding quirky places to explore. A lovely afternoon out. 👍😃
Very disappointing. Trees along the stream are all completely swamped in ivy which needs to be removed or all the trees will die. The field is ok for dog walkers but has been planted out with saplings too close together. The field next to the trees had been planted with hazel probably 7-10 years ago and in regimented rows only 2 feet apart. This will need to be thinned very soon or it will form an impenetrable wall.
Nice to just walk or take your dogs for a walk and a little spot of fishing loved it I'd recommend it beautiful canal
Really nice park, well maintained, and on 4 June there is a free Cultures of Walsall festival with fun fair, circus and food vans and ice-cream, lots to do.

This is a beautiful spot for a short walk, anywhere up to about 3km before you need to turn round but the different paths mean you can change the routes up for a nice dog walk. There are bird feeders around so if you like bird spotting there are always lots of friendly robins (and other birds too). There is so much wild garlic after the first km or so and the whole wood looks magical. There's a rope swing too but you definitely need wellies for it because it's over mud. There's a field next to the wood for dogs too, and parking opposite the entrance on a side road. I've only seen a couple of dog bins near the entrance though and there are non in the woods. Genuinely one of my favourite places.

Love it, peaceful wooded area with small ponds, edged by canal.
Really nice place, me and the kids had a nice walk and play in the water. Had a great time in the hot sun, and been in the pouring rain too and its lovely.
Wished I could be more enthusiastic about this place but unfortunately I only walk through it to get to another park. Adjacent to it is a large activity centre which I’ve only ever been in to have my covid vaccinations but it does look impressive if you’re a gym type person. It’s a green space in a drab area so for that alone it gets the thumbs up 👍

Clayhanger Common is a beautiful place to get away from the noise and stress of town living. The reserve is full of natural beauty if you take time to stop and breathe it in.

Community spirit is high with lots of litter picks happening to keep the reserve litter free.

Fantastic park for great outing for whole family
This is a well hidden treasure!! A small walk depending on the route you take. It's a wide variety of terrain from grass to gravel and in winter ankle high in mud. There is 1 big lake that is the centre of the park. Great for dogs to have a good swim. Great for fishermen. There is some inclines on the way round, there is also the canal on the entrance to the park so you can choose a canal walk in stead. This is a great spot for photograph opportunities its buzzing with wildlife of all sorts.
Lovely little peaceful walk near the canal. Good for dog walks, mountain biking or a simple chilled stroll. Lovely lake and a small stream. The children will enjoy this walk

Beautiful hidden nature walk amongst the towns. Very pretty forests and hidden ponds, incredibly atmospheric in the fog!
Only downside is the amounts of litter, people need to have more respect for nature and nurturing these places not destroying them.

Former airfield now converted into a nature reserve. Good for dog walking. Some events held during the year. Burger van in side road opposite Longwood lane entrance.
Not to bad for walking the dog. A lot on insects though especially horse flies so b carefull. Defiantly worth a visit if you are local. Dogs love it there.
Great little park. Great for dog walks snd plenty of activities for kids, for football, skateboarding and tennis and close to the swimming pool.

Good for children and evening walk. Can sit down and gossip for hours in summer sun at entrance or can grab a football and start kicking it in the football ground at the other end or maybe basketball with friends in the middle. You can get some cardio exercise while your kids enjoying the swings and slides.
