Delicious, early lunch. Tons of GF options. The Dry Pepper chicken might be the best chicken I’ve ever eaten. The fried rice was great, and the cucumbers were delicious!
Great vegetarian options! I know the Dan Dan noodles are the most popular, but we liked the Kung Pao Fried Tofu the most. The mapo tofu could have been made spicier, and the fried rice definitely needed their chili sauce. Overall, good meal and worth repeating.

Nice authentic Chinese spot. Been doing takeout from here quite regularly and getting the cold spicy chicken and twice cooked pork belly each and every time. The food is delicious! The portions are good. And the cashier is very kind.

Third Avenue restaurant where, instead of the usual confused cavalcade of pork, chicken, and seafood categories, the entrées are divided into broadly regional styles. You can have your lamb served in a hot pot bubbling with black mushrooms and Sichuan peppercorns, or bombed with scallions, or rolled, like they do in China’s Muslim regions, in clouds of cumin. If you get just one pork entrée, make it the double-cooked pork belly, which the cooks toss with chunks of fresh leeks, among other greenery, and don’t leave without a taste of those old Sichuan specials, mapo tofu, dan dan noodles, and dumplings, and a forkful or two of the tangy, garlic-infused sesame noodles. The ten-course tasting menus (for parties of eight or more) are great values.

I started coming here when I discovered this restaurant in February 2023. It has become my go to Chinese restaurant whenever I’m in New York , which is often. I’ve waited a year before writing a review. They have a very friendly staff who are welcoming and always smiling. I love the whole snapper and the fried rice is the best I’ve had in the city. They also have great cocktails , especially the lychee martini All cocktails are $14. Can’t beat that anywhere in the city. The room is cozy with soft jazz playing. I have only come for the lunch but I definitely recommend for the food, drinks and great service. On a side note, I’ve noticed most of the patrons are Asians. That is always a good sign that the food is authentic. I read a review where the writer said she was hassled for a tip. I have been to the restaurant easily ten times in the last year and NEVER have been disappointed.

Yummy pork dumplings and pork fried rice.. the staff are very helpful. I arrived close to closing time and the gentleman told me they closed the register but I could order thru one off the apps. Which I’m very happy I did.
We ordered take out from Han Dynasty and we were very pleased with the food. The taste is authentic sichuan and depending on your spice tolerance can go from mild to very spicy.

For the last few days, I walked by Hui Restaurant on 70th between Second and First Avenues and the place was always filled with customers. I decided that we should come for dinner and I’m glad we did. While Hui had lots a very spicy dishes, we chose carefully since I’m not wild about the items that have pictures of hot chili’s next to their descriptions. We started with an appetizer of cold noodles with sesame sauce. It wasn’t spicy but it was very flavorful! We ordered the whole fish steamed with ginger and scallions. It was FANTASTIC! Our waitress, who might also be one of the owners, not only deboned the bass, but proceeded to make sure that we got all the fish that was edible by constantly returning to assist us with this delicate process. I asked her what her name was and she jokingly said: Grade-A! We also ordered Zha Jiang Noodles. Every thing we ate was delicious and while we were pretty full, Grade-A recommended for dessert, a warm mochi ball, called Sesame Sticky Rice Ball. This was possibly one of the tastiest desserts I’ve ever eaten anywhere! While this evening was our first time dining at Hui, we will definitely be returning often!
Decent neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. It is authentic but not the best I’ve had. We started with a lackluster Dan Dan mien - noodles were a bit overcooked. But it improved from there - the beef with chili was nice and warming but the star of the evening for me was the pork belly and preserved vegetables - the fat from the pork adding wonderful flavor the vegetables.
The best Dim Sum that I have had in a long time. Everything we ordered was fresh, well presented, and full of flavor. The staff let us take as long as we wanted which made for a relaxing and delightful dinner. 10/10 recommend!
Very good Szechuan restaurant. Was recommended to me by a family friend who was born in Szechuan, China. Food is fresh and light. The Mapo, Double Cooked Pork, Spicy Chicken, and Duck were all amazing. Definitely give them a try if you are looking for extremely satisfying Szechuan food!

The food is absolutely great! Spicy hot pot is also very good. The service is great, and the people who work there are very friendly. I would recommend you to come to this restaurant as soon as possible! Very good Sichuan cuisine.
Party of 3 and everything was delicious! Pork soup dumplings, Chicken soup dumplings, pan fried pork dumplings, pan seared egg and chive pancake, pork wontons in chili oil, and red bean puffs were ordered. Everything was cooked perfectly, the service was great, and it wasn't very loud so you could hear the people you were dining with! Will absolutely go back!

Great place for late night Chinese food. Tasty Beef Chow Fun. Very chill vibe.
Enjoyed this with the family for an early lunch while down at NYU. I like mapo tofu and this was hot but good, they had crab rangoon as a special (I know it is an invention for Westerners and not authentic but it is different and I like it). Also had good chicken potstickers, and got some chicken lo mein as takeout for later, which was also good. A comfy, homey, laid back, casual neighborhood restaurant.

In short, the preparation was excellent: so good, that I took a picture of my food, something I am usually loathe to do.
Here, sadly, was the problem with my experience. The freshwater fish selected for my meal (it may have been a trout or possibly a carp) had a distinctively earthy flavor. I chose to ignore the muddy aftertaste as the fish had been prepared very well. Later on in the evening, as I sat through a concert, I kept burping up that unpleasant earthy taste. This made for an unpleasant experience. This restaurant must improve its supply of freshwater fish. It should not permit a forty dollar entree to be ruined by inferior supply.
This may be one of the few instances where using farm-raised fish may be preferable to wild caught fish, as the filtration systems in farm-raised specimens tend to cancel out the muddy taste prevalent in wild-caught specimens.

Excellent table cloth throw back Chinese menu. Upgraded modern interior and efficient service. Food is 8/10 and portions are reasonable. Menu is large and has many traditional Szechuan items. The negatives are very expensive drinks ($20) and expensive entrées. Worth a visit dor a special occasion but not tour every day kinda place.
Good food, good service and good atmosphere. The bathroom is clean but its decor is not aligned with the restaurant. I took one star off because of that reason.

After having lunch with my family here, I have decided that henceforth it's Sichuan cuisine or nothing. All the dishes we ordered were a big hit and the customer service was on point!!! Will definitely recommend eating her. 😊

This place is so good! Came in today and they treated me so nicely. The food was not like your typical corner Chinese food restaurant. It was sooooo fresh and so good. The staff made me feel so welcomed. I got the fried chicken dumplings and the sesame beef as an entree . It was so delicious and so filling. Taking the rest home to my man lol. Drinks was good too btw :) 10/10. Ps: it’s also very casual.
Coming from Tokyo and to meet my Asian food craving, I went there last night. A good Sichuan dinner spot at the heart of Manhattan. My favourite was wanton in chili oil, hot pot style and lo mien and xaio long bao were okay-ish to me. Worth giving a try!
Highly recommend! The taste is authentic and the portion is great. Each dish can easily feed 2-3 people (H1. Sliced Fish with White or Red Hot Sauce Soup came with two containers, the photo only has one of them), and the delivery was very prompt (we did order during the weird hour though). H3. Spicy Dry Hot Pot had variety of ingredients, including meat, ham, fish, tripe, shrimp. It was not too spicy for Chinese taste, but delicious still. The fish soup was very comforting and the portion was really big.

We "found" this restaurant during our last trip to NYC and loved the Bejing Duck - it was super delicious and also served the traditional way! This time we didn´t go for a starter and focused on the duck only and it was again amazing! The meat was still super juicy while the skin was crisp - absolutely delicious! We will for sure come back next time.

The food was good for a small cafe. It's a good place to stop in for a quick bite and a step up from a fast food joint. The crab roe soup dumpling was good and the fried chicken wings were fried to perfection. The latter was sprinkled with chili flakes, but it was more garnish than spicy. The only downside to the cafe was the lack of A/C. It was hotter than a billy goat with a blowtorch outside; inside, it felt like we were sitting in lukewarm water.
Gets order wrong 3 out of 5 times that I order take out from them.

The food was good, but quite underwhelming for it’s price point. Maybe it’s because we didn’t get the famous duck, but it was food you could easily find around Chinatown. All the workers were very attentive and we appreciated that. The bathroom was a bit shabby too which made the experience just not up to par.
Started with the fried pork buns very delicious, then we got the dan dan noodles very delightful peanut oil I believe great tasting noodles . Last but not least we had the hot sauce style chicken which was a hit !! Great spices pretty hot order with caution but even tho the spice was up there the flavor evened it out I definitely recommend this dish big enough for 2- 3 peoples depending on how hungry you are.

The fried fish was one of the best dishes I’d had in awhile. It was super spicy but with an amazing depth of flavor. Dumplings were just average. Good chill vibe and they’re open late. I’d come back.
I’ve been here many times. I like the atmosphere and low noise level. The servers here are super attentive and friendly. The food is of course tasty. The duck is super crispy and aromatic. Would come back for more meals.
Loving the varied menu of delicious and unusual dim sum offerings... Fresh mapo tofu, not too spicy, tender crab and rice soup dumplings, meaty rice pork dumplings and crispy fresh Chinese broccoli. Quiet, very clean and more upscale looking than most of the Village Chinese places. Nice tea selection and red bean bao and red bean sesame buns to finish it all off.
This my local go to for lunch, they have a great lunch specials menu that includes choice of a Spring roll or 3 different soups, a dozen different classic Chinese dishes and your choice of white, brown, or vegetable fried rice. All those choices for less than $13. This already makes it a great find in the neighborhood but the real cherry is that the food is excellent!!! Many times there are Chinese from the neighborhood eating here having some authentic Chinese dishes that look mouth wateringly delicious. I've tried everything on the lunch specials menu for lunch once all the items are well prepared, nicely seasoned and flavorful. They present all the items beautifully and the service is very friendly and accommodating. Some of my favorites are the more spicy choices like;

We were searching for good Sichuan restaurants in Manhattan and luckily we found one of the best places!! This place is a hidden gem..!! Excellent service, very friendly staff and the food is really good. We tried the scallion pancakes, fish dry hot pot and chicken lo mein. The fish dry hot pot was especially good. A tad spicy but very tasty. An iced tea or coke is a good companion. Will definitely return..
Got a private room, good furnishing but sparsely decorated. As expected of a Michelin star place food was excellent though serving nornal for a Chinese restaurant. Lots of dishes, portions a bit small compared to nearby area. Pork belly in clay pot with sour veggies was way too salty, the only dish most at the table didn't like or finish. Mapa tofu a bit overcooked. Ice cream with mochi ears was nice finish.
They say it authentic but in my opinion it’s never near that and it’s it more westernized dishes with a swimming pool of oil and that says it all

foodies, right?, I was eager to visit sooner or later Sichuan place. This redtaurant is called Grand Sichuan Eastern and it is located Greenwich Village part of Manhattan. This Chinese place won me over with its delicious food, attentive service, and reasonable prices.
It has simple yet tasteful decor, featuring geometric patterns on the walls and a few traditional masks and hanging fish figures. Nothing screams that this is a Chinese place, without feeling overbearing. Just hints.
The vast menu was impressive, boasting a wide variety of Sichuan dishes. Vast means there are 278 separate dishes, I kid you not!
The spiciness of each dish was conveniently marked by pepper images, making it easy to choose something to suit our preferences.
Our first dish was the pork soup dumplings, which were loaded with broth and expertly crafted. You bite one side of the dumpling and fill it with vinegar sauce - this gives a whole new dimension to the range of dumpling tastes. The juicy and flavorful dumplings were an instant hit.
Next up was the Sichuan wonton with red oil, which we ordered with a spiciness level of one pepper. Although it wasn't particularly spicy, it still had a pleasant kick to it. The dish was more like a soup, with a generous amount of broth in the soup plate.
My daughter opted for the crispy salted and pepper prawns. Although there was a slight mix-up with our order, the dish we received was delicious, featuring big, juicy prawns served with a healthy portion of vegetable salad and a bowl of rice.
The lunch for three, including sodas, came to about $60, which I found quite reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. It's worth noting that the restaurant only accepts cash or debit cards.

We enjoyed the experience in Legend72. The dishes were quite good (7/10). We could conversate perfectly as it was silent and quiet (no music). One may miss that living in a noisy city like NYC.

This is the dry pot I’d always get and it’s been a while but guess service and stock is bad cause theirs no slices fatty beef and theirs one piece of shrimp. Sad part is this isn’t the first time something was missing from my dry pot but it tastes good so I give it chances, dude couldn’t even say sorry. Some places just lack any care and this is one
Really yummy Peking duck - crispy skin, juicy meat, everything you want. We also got some other dishes like the crab with rice, which was also great, but the duck was definitely the star. Friendly and attentive service in a pretty modern and upscale environment. Would definitely bring friends and family here again :)

Our group of five got the soup dumplings (2 orders), Sesame Cold Noodles (2 servings), scallion pancake, crispy beef, whole pecking duck, whole fish and everything was delicious but especially the duck, fish and noodles. Great for a wednesday evening dinner!

Food was fine. A wide selection of entrees to choose from, including lots of dumplings and others types of dim sum. The soup dumplings were good but they could've used more soup, but the shrimp dumplings and shumai were tasty.
This place is a fantastic Sichuan restaurant! 🍴 Cafe China 🇨🇳 offer a fantastic selection of authentic Chinese dishes! 🍽️ Definitely try the Pork 🐖 Buns, Shumai dumplings 🥟, Kung Pao Chicken🐔 (be warned that this and most of the entrees are spicy 🥵). Staff 👨🍳 is friendly, welcoming, and professional! Service is quick and the ambience 🎶 is wonderful! The place is beautifully decorated. 🛋️ I wish I knew about this place earlier!
I didn't have much here just the Pork Lo Mein and pork soup dumplings the flavor of the broth in the soup dumplings left a little to be desired but still was very good and tender. The pork Lo Mein was Pork Lo Mein it's kind of hard to mess that up
Good place, with many tasty food options. I’ve tried pretty much everything on the menu. I must say that I recommend the stewed beef short ribs over some rice. It’s very good. It’s kind of small inside and very busy, but the service is very quick. Definitely will want to make reservations.
The restaurant ripped us off on this order by not packing the Diet Coke.
Taste wise: the fish was good, and the smoked pork was ok. The wonton soup was awfully salty that I didn’t take a single bite but just threw the entire container out.
Delivery: We paid for priority delivery service on Uber Eats, it still took longer than 30 minutes to get the food despite that we were just a block away.

Taste wise: the fish was good, and the smoked pork was ok. The wonton soup was awfully salty that I didn’t take a single bite but just threw the entire container out.
Delivery: We paid for priority delivery service on Uber Eats, it still took longer than 30 minutes to get the food despite that we were just a block away.

Our favorite hole in the wall !! We can't get into the city and not stop by here!! We stumbled upon Famous Sichuan very randomly one day while walking around. We ll be going back all the time!! The food is soooop good that when you have finished your dish you will drink the rest of it!! Can't wait to go back ...slurp ...
Amazing Sichuan cuisine. No wonder the restaurant has a Michelin star. Food was very good , service was very quick , waiters and waitresses were very polite. Will visit again.

Well, I'm glad everyone else had a good experience dining there. But for me, it wasn't a good experience. I am a first-time customer I ordered delivery and the lady was very defensive when I was trying to order and then she is snappy when I was trying to ask a question about my order. Then the delivery guy was a jerk. I found a disgusting bug in my seasme chicken then white rice need 10 mins more cooked because it was still a little hard. I recommend too examine carefully before you eat or you might get sick.
Ambience: I loved the look of the restaurant. It could easily be a local date spot.
Service: Service was a little spotty and confusing. We weren't sure if we were to order off the QR code or if someone was going to take our order. No one was really telling us and it took awhile for someone to come to our table.
Food: The food was delicious but a little plain for my tastes. We ordered the dumplings and they tasted fresh but just needed a little more seasoning. The chow mein just felt a bit too oily to me. The pickled vegetables were really good.
Overall: I'd say it's a nice place to try but just needs a little better service and sauces to go with the food.

Please order their fried rice!!! It’s fantastic!!!! The pork soup dumplings are good, but the dumpling skin is a bit thick. The last time I come here there’s only one server and I kept waiting to be served for a long time. They provided better service than the last time I visited ( a lot better, tbh), so I guess I would visit again.
Staff friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere a bit sparse but ok. Food excellent and more traditional. No deserts but there are sweet options to end a meal on if wanted. Will definitely go back.

Very nice rice noodles! Had ordered takeout and the quality’s good too! Just rem to order the Hunan specialty dishes. Special credit to the rice, best I had in NY yet.
Unassuming from exterior we questioned entering. But the foooood, though, wow, so so great! Authentic and affordable! I would have given it a 5 stars if it wasn’t for a bit of crumbs and flakes on the table when we got there. But overall, would 100% recommend!
We’re very fond of Szechuan cuisine and make sure to try it wherever we go. Being in NYC’s Chinatown, we visited this place considering its name and location. When we went inside, the restaurant was completely empty, and we were the only ones there. We ordered Steamed Dumplings, which were cold and tasted like they were made a day ago, and Spicy pork dumplings which were a little warm but not hot. Moreover, the chili oil had no chilies and was just oil. Next, we ordered, Bokchoy, which wasn’t served fresh either and was instead microwaved because some of it was hot while other pieces were cold. We also ordered chopper pepper fish which wasn’t on the menu, but we were told they could make it. It turned out to be a fried fish with salt, and it was served over lettuce which is not the right way to serve it. Finally, we ordered our signature dish, which we love, the fish fillet in Szechuan sauce. The quantity was 1/4th of what we have always gotten, and so many Szechuan restaurants across the US. The fish had no salt, chili, or numbing taste and was rather bland. We had also ordered the Hot n Sour soup but never got it, and it was also included in the bill, which we had to ask to be removed. The restaurant is super expensive and is not worth the money we spent there.
This is one of the best restaurants I go to. I can have legend 72 everyday. It's better than almost all of Chinese restaurants I've been to. I think it's better than Che Li. If you like Mala, try Chendu fish fillet and mapo Tofu. If you like basic, simple lunch special, try Chao Fun, kung pao chicken or sesame chicken.
The crispy whole fish with Pine Nuts and sweet and sour sauce taste so good. And I love the Dry Spicy Diced Chicken. Definitely recommend to everyone

A lot of these low star reviews are from patrons who I assume are less familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine. Excellent service, delicious food, and clean storefront. The trifecta. Very fair prices for the portions, too!
This restaurant is overpriced for what you get, even by NYC standards. For two of the less expensive entrees (carryout), it cost just over $46.00. The sesame chicken came with literally three of the dinkiest pieces of broccoli I have ever seen. I had to add broccoli from my friend's dish to make this a meal. The portion of bland brown rice they provided was inadequate for leftovers. To top it off, the service was terse and rather unfriendly. Other than its convenient location in the West Village, I can't recommend this place. On a positive note, I love the antique look of their signage.
One of the best soup dumplings you will find in the city. The service is nice, good dining vibes, not too busy for Sunday morning.

We got general tso’s chicken, Spicy chicken and Chinese broccoli, noodle soup, and dumplings. The food was very good. It was made to order, came out very hot, tasting very fresh. There was no wait and the staff was friendly.

These noodles had great flavor and a nice chewy texture but it wasn’t spicyy. I’m glad they have non spicy options for those who can’t handle the heat, but I think the spice was really needed to pull the dish together.

Came here looking for an authentic Sichuan dining experience and certainly wasn’t let down. Ambience was great but since we were moved up to their upper floor it did seem a bit crowded at times. Apart from that, however, the food was delicious, perfectly spicy and flavorful. Hugely recommend the fish and three pepper chicken.
So great to find an authentic Szechuan restaurant !! Spicy bamboo and fish/tofu dishes were fantastic. Just be careful packing the sauce to-go (great for leftovers though).
The Sichuan noodles were excellent. It comes with minced pork but they can make it vegetarian if you mention it while ordering. I am a vegetarian and I throughly enjoyed it. The sauce was spicy and hit the spot. Service was great.
Brilliant service and cuisine on Christmas Day 2021. We ordered the orange beef and Sautéed Pea Shoots with hot green tea of course. Everything was delightful and I was very happy to stop and enjoy their restaurant. Definitely will head back soon.
Ordered after a long day exploring the city and I was very impressed! The food was ready in 10 min and it was all very delicious. We had spring rolls which were crispy and tasted very good. We also had the chicken fried rice which was top notch. Lastly we orders the Black mushroom Chicken and it was PHENOMENAL!! I’ve never tasted anything like it! I would travel back to the city just to have it. Amazing!!
I just ordered their version of "La zi ji" the fried chicken pieces with spicy chilies and I kid you not, half of it was just the dried chilies and peanuts (which you can see, I fished out). It wasn't even spicy at all and I love spicy. Had I known they put peanuts in it, I wouldn't have gotten it. Was better off ordering it in Queens where my friend orders his. Absolute disappointment.
I always find myself astounded by the exceptional dining experience at Shu Han Ju. This restaurant consistently provides warm and attentive service, as well as delectable cuisine that leaves me feeling comforted and satisfied. It has certainly become one of my favorite spots in the city, a place where I always feel welcome and at home.

Hungry on my way home after a full day of walking through the streets of New York, I stumbled over this place. It was packed with people, but I did not have to wait Long. The Staff was very friendly and the food excellent. The vegetables were crispy and perfectly cooked, the sauce delicious and tasty. I hope I'll find this place again.

With so many Sichuan restaurants in the city, this one just doesn’t make the list of places at which you should eat. The food isn’t bad, per se, but it’s not exciting. We got a variety of dishes, and all of them tasted similarly mediocre. For instance, the duck was so mild it was nearly chicken. There were hints of Sichuan spices, but for the large part, everything was basically soy sauced. After a few bites, eating became simply a task to stave off hunger, not an activity I could really enjoy.
The pork soup dumplings here are delicious and my favorite dish to order. But many dishes here are good. Fried rice is pretty good, lo mein is pretty good (though not my favorite). Really loved the Gui Zhou spicy chicken. Beef with green peppers is very tasty. The king pao chicken was also good.

This is a solid Chinese food restaurant with pretty authentic dishes that were quite good. The soup dumplings were good, albeit not that “soupy.” The honey walnut shrimp was made with pretty big prawns that were crispy on arrival to the table with a great sauce. Most of the guests had sesame chicken that everyone enjoyed. They accommodated a big group on a last minute reservation. The alcohol was affordable and they even served us sake bombs! Would come back if in the area again.
Some of the dishes here are pretty authentic. The cold noodles and cumin lamb were very tasty, but the rest were kind of downhill. The scallion pancake was too soggy and the spicy diced chicken was mostly breading. It was also pretty pricey for Chinese food but probably due to the location.
The food is quite good, authentic western Sichuan style. Prices and portion of food are fair. Clean dinning environment , nice setting, friendly staff and quite atmosphere also enhance the overall dinning experience. Will be back again.
