They were so sweet & let me enjoy my drinks in peace. I had the Lexington and metropolitan drink and it tasted so sweet I thought it didn’t have a liquor but I definitely feel it. I got a free drink as well I’m definitely coming back here ! 10/10
I assure everybody that Torishin is one of the best Japanese restaurants in the U.S. Especially, the best and the most sophisticated YAKITORI. Every single one of Torishin's staff, such as reception, server, and chefs provide the most comfortable and amiable service. Particularly, the authentic Japanese chefs for Select Counter is above and beyond. They provide you with valuable experience that your sense of taste goes beyond your common sense. Sakes that Torishin provide harmonize with their finest dishes as well. The ambience makes you feel that you are in a different world by producing a relaxed but the most Japanese traditional atmosphere. If you want to feel a real Japan, definitely Torishin is the one to experience.
Mikado is a beautiful and vibrant place with amazing quality food that tastes wonderful you can tell the food is passionately prepared. First time here but will definitely be coming back again. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The sushi to rice ratio is great. TIP: brown rice sushi has a rich, nutty flavor. The iced Molly Lemon Tea tasted like it was fresh brewed from loose leaf green tea leaves. The Godzilla Roll is a must try.
Always love this place. Go early as no reservations for this location and it gets PACKED. Slightly limited menu at lunch ca dinner but you still get everything you could want! Always busy but some of the best food you could ever have. Any of their locations are great but this is the one i go to the most. They are also great at not rushing people during the meal but everyone is cognizant that there is usually a line of people waiting for a seat. Highly recommend truly some of the best Japanese food ever.

This review is specifically for their lunch onigiri counter. I first came upon this at a Japan Fes that accompanied the annual Japan Parade. They have a seasonal ebi onigiri that is delicious. On top of a tasty filling, the onigiri is covered in bits of tempura, giving it a light, crunchy bite. I really hope that they keep this flavor around!
Very presentable location, really makes you feel in Japan. Food is always fresh and takes time to prepare. Stop in if you have an hour or more, good things come to those who wait!

This is such a great restaurant. From the moment I entered, I knew I would like it. The atmosphere is very aesthetic, it’s very zen and peaceful and the chefs look very professional by the bar making the sushi rolls.
The server was such an amazing lady, I wish I got her name but I went in on a Saturday afternoon and she made me feel very welcome and she was super attentive.
The fish was so fresh and prepared so quickly, those hand rolls were among some of the best I’ve ever had and they were so big! For the price, it’s a steal.

Ordered the sushi + hand roll lunch special for $28 and it was super delicious and a great deal. the fish quality is very high and the construction of the nigiri is top notch. there is a great fish to rice ratio. each piece also has a specific garnish and each piece of fish was different vs a lot of places that just give several of the same fish. highly recommend!
One of my go-to lunch spots. I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over a year now and I always have a wonderful experience. The food is consistently great. The restaurant is nice, clean, and welcoming. The service staff are always warm, sweet, and provide excellent service. I highly recommend trying it out if you’re in the area.
Walking by you would not imagine that this restaurant was within, it’s very unassuming from 53rd street with no possible way to view inside without going through the door.
You will need a reservation to dine here. The first time we walked in just to inquire they turned us away mentioning we needed a reservation. The reservation by the way will cost you $50 a person if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment.

had previously ordered takeout from this location which was extremely fresh and delicious even though I ordered at the end of the day so decided to check out the spot in person. Got the lunch special of a roll and 8 piece assorted sushi and everything was very fresh and tasty. The interior of the restaurant is very cozy and aesthetically appealing. Our sever was also very nice and attentive
Always come here when I’m in the city. Great food, decently priced, great service and the setting is just right. I have yet to try everything on the menu but everything by has been delicious so far. Be sure to get reservations or it’s going to be an hour + wait. Or just get there when they open for early lunch.

A delightful little yakitori restaurant. It was great we didn’t smell like the food when we left since we had regular seating. It would be cool to watch them cook but we had kids with us. It’s great that you can tell them you’re not into weird pieces like hearts and organs and they’ll substitute. The different pieces, though mostly chicken, all had different tastes. We brought our kids that can’t finish an entire omakase. We thought we could get a la carte for them but they won’t let you order just a la carte despite the two adults ordering a la carte. We enjoyed our meal here.
Their famous rice is just amazing! I got Katsu Toji Set. Super tasty. I finished everything!

I've been wanting to come for a while, and I finally made it tonight. Everything was absolutely incredible. We tried the Chef Omakase at $108 per person. It included Amuse-Bouche, Seasonal Appetizer, Yakitori, Special Grill, Seasonal Refreshener, Rice Dish, and dessert.
My personal favorites were the chicken oyster Yakitori and the Wagyu beef steak! And I absolutely loved that they served Japanese strawberries for dessert!

This restaurant is just so good...real Japanese style food. Always great to have a nice dinner.
Honestly me and my mother really enjoyed this spot (also we are Japanese so trust me we are a little judgmental when it comes to Japanese food). Pretty pricey— but it’s sushi in Times Square so to be expected. The atmosphere is fun and good service.

One of the best Yakitori places we’ve been to. This is One Michelin star Japanese restaurant that serves traditional charcoal-grilled Yakitori chicken. All the food was very fresh, cooked to perfection and delicious! Start with sake and finish with a green tea ice cream. Definitely going back again soon to try out their many other dishes.

I eat here every 2 weeks. Whoever has any complaints that person is biased or they are mean. Sushi is amazing, service is polite and fast, and it is very simple and accessible to order using an iPad.
I went in person before a Broadway show recently and the quality was great. It was fairly empty when we went. It was my first time in person as I normally order delivery from Ageha. That I've done many times and it can be a bit hit or miss when it arrives, but generally has been a positive experience. Personally, my favorite is always the Google roll. Delicious!
So, I put an online order for a spicy tuna crunch roll. Mind you, it comes as ONE big piece of a roll, not 6 or 8rolls. It was not a tempura order so not sure why it was only one big piece 🤷🏻♀️ The price was 8.75$ - I ordered on their own website to be paid at the location.
At the end one roll sushi came to 11.84$ from 8.75$ because they added a convenience fee for whatever reason ( I PAID CASH ) and a tip of 1.31$ for a PICK UP order.

I've been trying for YEARS to find myself both in a restaurant that serves fugu sushi at all and to be there when it's actually in season. Nippon made our experience unforgettable! It's no surprise that the Japanese printer minister has eaten here!
A lot of online comments about eating fugu said it's bland and fairly tough (these comments were not talking about Nippon but eating fugu in general). At Nippon, it was light, tender, and slightly sweet, which is a statement about the skill and expertise of their sushi chefs! Very tasty!

I came here a few minutes after opening and was able to be seated immediately on the counter top (in front of the kitchen, really nice seat), but the tables were already gone. I ordered the tonkatsu curry set for lunch and it was really good, definitely among the best katsu I’ve had in NYC so far despite a few pieces being a bit dry. Overall it was a great experience and I’ll definitely be back!
Sushi was good but not mind blowing. Some diversity in the vegetarian maki rolls could be useful. My boyfrienf said the ramen was pretty good though. Service was pretty dry but not rude either. Just not as lovely. All in all i would come here again, it was pretty cheap.

This is a nice neighborhood Japanese restaurant that serves a nice variety of Japanese fare. It has a nice sushi and sashimi selection as well as many of the hot food dishes, ie pork katsu, ramen, tempura, etc. The menu offers a good variety and a lunch selection as well. Overall, the quality and taste of the dishes are good and tasty.

It is a great option right after visiting the museum. Service is quick and friendly. The bento box was very satisfactory and great value meal. Great BYOB, cash only spot for sushi. No reservations but didn't have any trouble getting a table around 630pm on a week night. Delicious sushi. The truffle sushi was very delicious and light. If you like truffle, it's worth a try. They let us sit there for a nice long time too which I really appreciated.

An afternoon at this establishment was an enchanting culinary escapade, accompanied by my debonair companion. We ventured into the world of the Bento Box, and what a discovery it was! The portions were so generous that one could almost use them as stepping stones across a culinary ocean of delight. It's like they'd struck a deal with the portion genie himself. The value for your precious dinero? Absolutely stellar.

The first time ordered from Dokodemo, the fried chicken bowl was so yummy, I ate the whole bowl and ordered another one to go. Definitely will come back.
First time here and had the chirashi bowl. The sashimi was very mediocre and seemed like it had been sitting in a fridge. So not completely fresh as you would expect. I came at 5:30pm so I was assuming it would be fresher. The uni was definitely old. Doubt that I would come back but I am curious about their soba.
Just ate there less than an hour ago. Got the scorpion and the eel roll. Total of 27.75 with tax. Came in for a quick dinner. The scorpion roll had a weird taste to it as if one of the ingredients, which the server said was "sea eel," had gone bad. Finished my meal and paying. I paid with card and was signing. Server mentioned the gratuity percentage and I was like oh yeah and put zero because I had cash in my pocket that I was going to hand to her. After seeing that I added zero, she gave me the dirtiest look. I took my hand of my pocket and kept my tip. I get that tip is heavily forced in nyc. I've been a server before, but first you shouldn't ask the customers for gratuity and second, you shouldn't show your terrible customer service in front of the customer. You could've at least waited till they leave, not prove to them why they shouldn't voluntarily pay you extra for a great service, which you didn't exactly provide. I'm glad she showed herself before I wasted my gratuity, which well spent at an ice cream shop.
Four stars sounds about right. We went here for the all you can eat sushi. Note they are cash only (at least Friday and Saturday evenings, I think - the sign was a little confusing) and they add 18% gratuity to the bill. We were seated fairly quickly and the manager/owner was accommodating enough to seat us in a slightly less crowded area. We started ordering using their iPad and had some food in less than 10 minutes. The environment was definitely loud. We had a table of 4...boisterous young men next to us who were drinking beer. Thankfully they left half way through the meal. The sushi itself was...okay. I've had better. The better tasting dishes were the ones that were limited in quantity, unfortunately. The mocha flavored cake was mediocre and the fried potato/corn patty was super dull/lacking in taste. The cheesecake (limited dessert) was pretty good. So not the best sushi I've had, the best tasting items were on the limited menu, it was cash only, but service was fast.

I dined alone and sat at the bar. I ordered the deluxe set which has a great variety of mixed sushi and miso/salad. Staff were friendly and attentive.
very authentic Japanese soba shop. don’t expect to have your mind blown, as soba is a more simple eats. But it’s done very right and done well.

Incredibly friendly staff who helped me pick out my whole order! I love the food options they have. Everyone in the place seemed very pleased with their meals. Love the outdoor patio as well. Food was delicious. The place is clean and spacious.

Just a fantastic Japanese lunch joint. Quality is excellent, and the yakisoba dish had wonderful balance of flavors. Prices are reasonable, quality is great, and everything is made in front of your eyes. Great bang for your buck.

This place is a nice Japanese restaurant! 🇯🇵 Rake It's Japanese II ok the UWS serves a wide variety of delicious 🤤 and authentic Japanese 🎌 dishes 🍽️ and an endless selection of sushi 🍣 - definitely try their Chicken 🍗 Teriyaki with rice 🍚 and broccoli 🥦 on the side! They have affordable 🏷️ lunch specials 🍱 that come with a soup 🍲 or salad 🥗 starter. Staff 👨🍳 is friendly and welcoming and the service is very quick. ⏲️ I wish I came here earlier!

This place is great! Awesome little restaurant for Japanese street food. The food is great, it's well priced, and the restaurant has a nice chill vibe. You pay at the front and they bring your food out, very casual.
I've been here a couple of times and my favorite is their "ramen rice." If you like spice, get it spicy, it has a good amount of heat. It's really good!

Decent sushi. Three rolls for $21.95 and $2 extra for an upgrade. The rolls were good and satisfactory. My only complaint is that the avocado was solid and rubbery to chew. It wasn't hard to tell that it wasn't ripe yet. I took it out of my roll so that I can eat the rest.
Raku has the best lunch specials in the UWS and it's a popular venue. I went at noon as the first customer and the place was overcrowded after 10-15 minutes. I tried a chicken teriyaki lunch box, that came with rice, tuna rolls, and miso soup. Soup was ready immediately and the lunch box took maybe 10 minutes to be prepared. The food was tasty, the portions were enough and the service was also nice. I think I’ll return there to try others items from their menu soon.
Benemon was on my “want to go” list for a long time and it became the 348th food place I visited in NYC for the last 3 years. I ordered Unagi Don. The food was quite good, flavorful, and tasty. Service was quick and nice. However, some minor details need to be improved to get 5 stars, including sticky table tops that need to be cleaned better, paper towels in the restroom should not be on the toilet tank, pending grade and violations from the Health Department, etc.

The food was great. We went there right after the Japan Day event. Personally I really like Japanese food. I would recommend people coming here to try out the food. The price isn't so expensive though. It also came with an ice cream for combo which is great for dessert.
My brother and I had a great experience here. For $50 a person, you can get all-you-can-eat sushi, which includes a huge menu of appetizers, sashimi, rolls, etc. You also get drinks and dessert included. My brother ordered a beer, and we got a pitcher of beer, as well as a whole carafe of sake. The food was fresh and delicious.
This place was amazing. We got a variety of small plates and then a few mains to split between 4 people. The sake selection was also great, I would highly recommend asking the server for their input.
I’d recommend the beef ramen rice. But it was not as delicious as before. It’s very salty now. I hope they can change it back, and make the okonomiyaki again!
Favorite restaurant in NYC! Got the nanban don and it was life changing. For appetizers, we got the tuna tataki and the tofu fire. Both were amazing. The price was around $40 per person but definitely worth the price point. Definitely give this place a visit

Poke was a pretty solid sushi spot with a fun environment. Cash only and BYOB! Too bad you can't bring liquor cause I'd love to bring a bottle of hibiki or Yamazaki. But they do allow wine and beer. The rolls were good, but the nigiri style was just fine.
Just went for AYCE sushi. First time here. Pretty average experience, all the way around. For NYC, it’s decent value. Limit on Sashimi at 15 thin pieces was fine. Some interesting options. 18% gratuities added automatically. Food was decent. Was not busy at 5 pm, Sunday Service was polite, quiet.

I wouldn't say this restaurant is authentic. It is beyond that. When you enter here you temporarily leave all the chaos and noise of Manhattan and get transported to Japan. They serve dishes that are uncommon here in the US, and even fugu dishes during the winter, how crazy is that!

So impressed with this place, would strongly recommend! It really reminded me of Japan. The vibes inside are really nice and calm, with jazz in the background. The waiters are polite and nice. The food tasted a lot better than it looks in my opinion. It had a very Japanese and authentic taste - the flavours were not overpowering but had a sophisticated edge. The appetizers were very meticulously prepared and I enjoyed every bite. The cake looked really small and simple but tasted delicious. It really reminded me so much of being in Japan. I was really not expecting to like this place so much and would definitely return.
Nice place for a quiet date night. Went with the small plates since they seemed more interesting. I'd recommend the beef tataki which is quite flavorful. The cocktails and sake selection is nice. For cocktails, the Summer Echoes is aptly named.
Soups were very good, as was the mochi. Took a little bit for the pad Thai to arrive but was also very enjoyable. Wait time for our food probably was longer due to the countless call in orders.

Very tasty Japanese comfort food. The menu is easy to navigate to and customizable based on ones preference. The chicken was a bit over fried, but crispy nonetheless. Staff is kind.

I thought the food felt like home. It wasn’t anything surprising or unexpected. The pork katsu were a little dry, and the steak lacked garlic flavor as expected.

Good food at pretty fair prices for NYC! Lots of different options for a variety of Japanese dishes (curry, rice dishes, etc), so there is something for everyone. I had the vegetable don which was surprising in that it was just tempura vegetables, rice, and a side dish of ten don sauce, but the tempura veggies were really well cooked and the sauce was delicious. Simple, yet effective!
I came here for dinner last week with my boyfriend, it wasn’t busy since we came right when they opened. Servers were friendly and attentive. Enjoyed the oyako don, rice was a little more wet than I usually enjoy but that is probably just how the dish is- since there’s eggs and other stuff in it as well. My boyfriend loves fish so he enjoyed the tuna more than me. The steak was so good though, cooked perfectly and the sauce was lovely. Serving sizes are small for the price but this is how NYC is… loved the food, everything was great! The indoor atmosphere was chill and relaxing :)
Real authentic Japanese food was extremely good and amazing service. Would definitely stop by here and come again. I came here during lunch time and it was a nice peaceful place to eat. I also needed help understanding a few things on the menu and the waiter did an amazing job explaining!
Delicious fresh sushi (we got the sashimi deluxe, special roll, and chicken teriyaki). Portions were great bang for buck, everything was delicious, the chicken was awesome too thank you. My favorite was the white tuna, almost creamy.

Five stars, hands down. We wanted to enjoy the taste of sushi without a tremendous amounts of mayo or fillers and got exactly what we wanted here. We ordered a Sashimi Deluxe set, a Manhattan Roll, and a Broiled Hamachi Kama.

I had a 5-star experience with Nippon. Tried their seasonal Kaiseki menu. Everything tasted unbelievably delicious, beautiful presentation and service was exceptional, really made us feel special.
By far the most authentic experience ever. The good is so fresh, delicate, clean just superb. Every single person was attentive and kind. Our experience was fantastic I wish we can go back every day but, my pockets would hurt. Well worth the trip and experience highly recommended
I really enjoyed dinner on Saturday! Their outdoor dining was very clean and comfortable. It was sanitized well, and the staffs also carefully took precautions against COVID-19.

Decent sushi, loud interior, and loved that it is BYOB, but portions are crazy small! We ordered a total of 6 rolls and appetizer and left in satisfied. Some of the “bigger” rolls were only 4 pieces!
Went in for the lunch special and was pleasantly surprised with the options available. I went for rolls, but there are bento, sushi, sashimi, and specials for two. It came promptly and was accompanied with salad and soup which is a nice touch, you usually have to choose. The presentation is nice and it tastes even better. It is fresh and has a good flavor. I also ordered the bubble tea which wasn't as good, the tea itself was good, there was far too much ice and all the bubbles were chalky on the inside which really detracts from the point of having bubble tea. The service is good and it is not loud, allowing for pleasant conversation. You are able to see the menu online which is a nice touch, and you are also able to place orders for delivery. I would definitely go back!
