I went because this is one of the oldest restaurants in Europe. The atmosphere was nice but the food was a little bit expensive and was not as good as I expected. The homemade bread and butter was very nice thought. I would go for the experience.

This was by far the high point on our trip to Salzburg. This place is all about fine dining. From the moment we got there, there was a great ambience, people where outside having warm wine, and live music was playing. As we got taken to our table, we where greeted by Andy, who could have not been more amazing. He made exquisite and well thought out recommendations, brought the somelier who brought incredible wines that matched perfectly our meal. I have no idea why this place is not in the michellin guide. Thank you for everything, we enjoyed every second of it.

The location is historic, it seems the building has gone through repair and bit of modification, nothing special about the menu or food, in fact you could definitely find more choice of food and variety with less time spending on reservation.
It would be highly suggested to visit the place but choose to dine in near by local restaurants, if in Christmas season, you would definitely want to enjoy the variety of food and delicacy by local shop owner, for fraction of cost.
The total experience was just fine and off our check list for the oldest world restaurant.

Great venue for dining. I was there with friends during the festive season, and we were all impressed by the ambiance and the meals. The goulash deserves special mention for its perfect preparation and tasty sauce. The schnitzel and spätzle didn’t disappoint either. Recommended

In addition to being a beautiful and very pleasant space, we can enjoy excellent service, very friendly and the food is very tasty and very well prepared. The homemade bread and caramelized butter is something that alone makes it worth it. It is without a doubt a place to return to.

A great restaurant in Salzburg! Must try! The food is fantastic, we had the tuna tartar, veal steak and truffle pasta. Service is also good, friendly, helpful and attentive. The ambiance is rustic, relaxing and very clean. The restaurant also has a long prestigious history. Remember to order Peter spritz.

Absolutely delicious - real comfort food. We saw a lot of other dishes and they all looked really good. We also shared the desert Kaiserschmarrm which was the best we have had in Salzburg. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. I would highly recommend this gorgeous restaurant 😍

They've been around since the 800s so it makes sense that they'd have good food! The restaurant opens for lunch, closes, and then opens for dinner. I highly recommend you make reservations for your visit because it is very popular. For lunch you can walk in for a table without trouble. Dinner, you can't. The seating is pretty much all outdoors but covered by a concrete or uncovered in a courtyard. It's all open air. If you don't want to pay the high menu prices stick to deserts because they're very good, especially the apple strudel. Skip the soups. Staff is nice and does speak English.

Located by the historic St Peters Church, this is one of the oldest restaurants in town. Atmospheric, stylish place with great food and service. Everything we tried was delicious, served fast and with a custom presentation. We had goulash and chicken, cucumber soup, burata, wine and a few cocktails. Not cheap but reasonably priced.

Das Schloss Aigen liegt nicht sonderlich zentral in Salzburg, dafür aber umso schöner am Stadtrand, mit der Möglichkeit von dort auch nette Spaziergänge in schöner, ländlicher Umgebung zu machen.
Ich gebe zu, wir fahren ausschließlich zum Essen hin und bisher waren wir auch immer sehr zufrieden, zumindest mit dem Essen. Beim Personal gibt es solche und solche, je nachdem, wen man erwischt, bei den Chefs hat man manchmal das Gefühl, dass sie manche Gäste mehr oder freundlicher umsorgen als andere... Freunde von uns gehen deshalb auch nicht mehr hin.
Wir sind aber hartnäckig und konzentrieren uns aufs Essen, welches eigentlich immer sehr gut war. Es gibt keine ganz besonders außergewöhnlichen Sachen, eher "normale" Gerichte wie Steaks oder Schnitzel oder Tafelspitz, die sind aber durchwegs alle sehr gut zubereitet. Als Beispiel was wir letztes mal bestellten: gebeizten Saibling mit Humus, Mango und Zitrone, Variation von der Gänseleber mit Wachauer Marille, Selleriecreme und Butterbrioche, Beef Tatar „Schloss Aigen“ vom heimischen Rinderfilet mit Wachtelei, Senfcreme und Schwarzbrottoast, Hummerbisque mit Garnelen und Erbsen, Rücken vom heimischen Milchkalb mit Eierschwammerl, Schupfnudeln, Safran-Zwiebel und schwarzem Trüffel und als Nachspeisen dreierlei Sorbets bzw. Tahiti-Vanilleeis mit Nusskrokant und Aceto Balsamico.
Besonders hervorheben kann man auch noch das Ambiente: es handelt sich zwar um ein sehr altes Gebäude, das hat aber einen sehr netten Charme und der Gastgarten im Innenhof ist bei gutem Wetter einfach genial. Nicht umsonst gehen hier auch Promis aus und ein, wir haben z. B. schon Franz Beckenbauer getroffen oder Axel Milberg und andere.

Fantastisches Schnitzel, hauchdünn und tolle Panade. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es, da das Schokoladensoufflé leider nicht perfekt und eher etwas trocken war. Dennoch sehr schön angerichtet und raffiniert mit Mohneis.

Hervorragende Küche auf hohem Niveau!

Die teuren Preise sind durch die sehr gute Qualität absolut gerechtfertigt!

Die berühmten Grammelknödel übertreffen die Erwartungen!
(Allerdings sehr mächtig, ich empfehle deshalb die Vorspeisenvariante mit 2 Stück)

Außerdem sehr guter Service mit kompetenter Bedienung!

The perfect place to spend Christmas Eve. We had a lovely set menu with matching wines which was amazing. Each course was delicious and the wines very generous! The whole place is decorated head to toe in Christmas decorations so it has a really nice feel to it.

Eine besondere Erfahrung, sehr höflicher und zuvorkommender Service. Die Menüs gibt's vegetarisch oder Mischkost, beides extrem gut, die Weine dazu waren köstlich. Ein sehr Atmosphärisches Restaurant mit Stil und sehr geschultem Personal.

Toller und aufmerksamer Service. Das Essen ist sehr gut- wenn auch die Portionen nicht gigantisch sind. Braucht es aber auch nicht unbedingt da die Qualität wirklich super ist.
Selten so gute Topfen Knödel gegessen!
Ein sehr idyllisch gelegenes Lokal draußen bei schönem Wetter sehr nett im Schatten von großen Bäumen. Sehr nett auch für Hochzeiten und Taufen da direkt neben der Kirche gelegen.

This is excellent restaurant on the river side with nice panorama looking at old city and the castle. Its located in Sacher hotel and I would recommend to ask Sacher cake for a dessert. Main traditional dishes are true excellent. Service was not fast - better to book 2 hours for a lunch. Prices are relatively expensive. Its good that quality fits the value.

Yes. Yes. Yes! Absolutely f.a.n.t.a.s.t.i.c. We had a four course dinner with wine pairings and it was one of the great food experiences of my life. The balancing of portions, flavours, food types and even presentations is impeccable. It is delicate and light one moment, rich and rewarding the next. The wines are stunning. I was left with the impression that the chef was a genius who had put everything he had not only into the preparation of the food, but also the ideas behind it. There is no point mounting up superlatives about how comprehensively marvellous the food is here - I'd rather just leave it at that and let you see for yourself. Fully recommend one of the set menus with wine pairing.
