All the snacks you’re looking for. Also canned coffee and green tea those carbonated fruit drinks with the marble at the top. A dozen varieties of KitKat. Seemingly every Hi-Chew and Puchao available. Shelves and shelves of seaweed and furikake and ramen. I always walk out of here with three times what I expected to get! My favorites are the peanut snacks and wasabi nori-wrapped crackers.

Inside an 1875 corner rowhouse in Dupont Circle is Hana Japanese Market, an immigrant-owned Japanese market that sells homemade omusubi (rice balls) every day. Run by a wife-husband team, products like noodles, mochi, and curries overcrowd shelves along small aisles. It adds to the atmosphere of a beloved neighborhood market with loyal customers. And they sell cold Royal Milk Tea, my vice.

This place has great asian options and often at lower prices than grocery stores. Some of the staff are super rude while others are very friendly. I tend to encounter both when I visit so I don't patronize as often as I would like to.

Best place to grab authentic asian cuisine for a great price! The restaurant is intimate and wonderful but the market downstairs is the place to be! P.S. you MUST try the mango sticky rice!

Easily my favorite store in DC. Hana manages to pack an amazing variety of groceries including both nonperishable goods and fresh produce into a small space. This is my go-to store for a lot of specialty East Asian ingredients as well as everyday staples. Great frozen section, great tofu selection, lots of pickled foods like kimchi and ddanmuji, seaweed, sweet and savory snacks, household items and kitchenware like chopsticks, soup bowls, etc... The owners are so kind and the prices are really reasonable, even compared to big grocery store chains nearby. Minimum spend amount to use a credit card so bring cash if you're only planning to buy one or two things.

On my trip to D.C., this was my favorite place to shop. The prices are fantastic, and the customer service went above and beyond to make my friends and I feel welcome and comfortable. I was also lucky to have some of their freshly made onigiri, which was absolutely delightful! I want to send all my love to their business, and if I'm up in the area again, I will be certain to stop by!

This place is gorgeous! Especially if you’re looking for cooking supplies or alcohol but also tons of snacks and glassware and beverages. They had sesame mochi which I’ve been looking everywhere for. They have sticky rice and full size mangos to buy as well as a ready to eat version. I love it!

Had never been here before, but had always wanted to try it, so walked over after work. The shop is much smaller than I thought, but it was packed with the most delicious foods and drinks! The family that runs it were super friendly, and it was just a very welcoming shop. Will definitely be back to try the produce and roll cakes!
DO NOT GO! ! Purchased two pairs of pajamas for my daughters and was told I could exchange them if they didn't like the colors. When I tried to exchange them I was told it was outside one week (never told only one week exchange period) and then that they would not accept the item because they were damaged. My daughter only tried on and items still had creases. The item was sold in poor condition and they refused the return. They told me I could get fixed in Chinatown in NYC?!? Store advertises they take credit cards but they insisted on Venmo. This store is a trap for tourists and I was taken advantage of.

Selling expired food to unacknowledged customs is bad.

I used to like this shop/restaurant a lot! They sale quality stuffs.

However I was vey disappointed by my last purchase (on Feb 3rd 2023). I bought a surprise bag for grocery which contains 3 items.

- A bottle of soy sauce, that expires in 2 days.

- A pack of noddle, expired already, by 20 days.

- A jar of ginger honey, already expired, by 10 months.

Even it’s surprise bag, I don’t think expired food should be sold to customers, especially without acknowledging the customer.

But I guess the owner doesn’t care.

A little journey to Japan. When you feel some needs to shop into the world of japanese groceries then you have to visit Hana Market. After 1pm they sell fresh Onigiri. And mostly you will find all of the traditional japanese sweets like Baumkuchen and Rice Cakes. Really love this place.

A great Japanese grocery! It's small, but there's a good selection and the owner is very sweet and helpful. I recommend coming for onigiri- they sell it every day but Tuesdays and Wednesdays after 1 PM. My favorite is the chicken mayo, but they're all delicious. Also recommend the sweet breads if they're in stock!

Great Asian market for all sorts of pantry items. Service is great, really nice people. And they have Asian produce, which is nice. I recommend this place all the time.

This is a great little shop where you can get a limited selection of Asian dry goods and such with a whole lot of gifts. One of the shops that still make D.C. Chinatown still actually feels like a Chinatown. It's really worth going in there and check when you visit, you might find something cool! If you're a DC resident and need some Asian goods without having to go to VA or MD, you can find some basic stuff here.

This place is a true hidden gem - so beautifully and thoughtfully curated. Incredible variety and aesthetically placed selection of specialty grocery items, beer, wine and home goods. The staff are very kind and helpful - had great conversations with the two gentlemen I have interacted with! I've been looking for a local sushi spot and this is now my new go-to. The spicy tuna roll, salmon avocado roll, sashimi combo and miso soup were all phenomenal!

I go to this store a lot. Purchase vietnamese coffee in packs. They bag does not provide experation day, but the inside individual pack stated they expired in 2020. The coffee tastes like dirt no flavor waste of money.

Great souvenirs of Chinatown and Washington DC. Little trinkets all the way to furniture. Staff is super helpful and friendly, and prices were decent. This place has also Asian snacks and treats and a huge selection of herbs and medications.

I was specifically looking for a store were I could get one of those waving cat dolls. This store has tons of those items plus traditional Chinese medicine plus liquor candy kitchen tools serving items and so much more. Don't miss this for Chinatown souvenirs plus practical items.
Very interesting place to visit, it's worth a walk through, but it does need a good cleaning. If you are looking for bamboo plants grown into hearts, jade carved elephants, or slippers, this is your place.
