Wenn man sich für die Geschichte der Samurai interessiert, ist dieser Museum einfach Atemberaubend. Diese Holografische Spiele, Lichteffekte und die Videos die da abgespielt werden sind sehr sehr gut! Die Ausrüstungen, Masken und Waffen sind aus der Nähe einfach sehr cool!
Ich werde dieses Museum definitiv weiterempfehlen! BRAVO 👏🏼👍🏼

Wow! The service and overall experience in this museum is absolutely stunning. The staff is incredibly well informed and very friendly. We spent around 4h in the museum. The technology used to explain the history and culture made this visit extremely exciting and interesting. Definitely worth a visit! Or two! Or more ..
This place gets 8 out of 5 stars from me. Great exposition, great (mysterious) atmosphere, and they get extra points from me for the interactive stuff, like lightnig, sound, performances, touch screens, animations, etc. Especially these "UV" japanese fans on the second floor, which you have to hold in front of your eyes to be able to see the painting there. Not to forget the nice, kind and very helpful staff. Awesome place and a must when in Berlin. I personaly could stay the whole day there...
Absolutely unbelievable. Outside of the incredible and amazing items on display this may be one of the nicest most modern museums I’ve ever been to. It blended these historic and traditional Japanese items with display setups so modern it feels futuristic in a way that feels distinctly Japanese. If you’re looking at this you’re probably close enough to go, so just go, you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing collection of Casper David freidrich with schinkel; and good impressionist collection too, Monet, manet, Renoir, Cezanne and a lot more. Well worth visiting.
Great building. Just to see the main floor you don’t need to buy a ticket. Downstairs are the museum shop and a cafe.
A very nice old building structure. There are many sculptures in the premise. No need for entry tickets but for art gallery itself. Buy it online. Again I could not visit the gallery bacause of public holiday.

I recommend checking out the history of the building itself as well as other works of the extraordinary architect behind it - Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
Apart from the gallery you can check out the museum shop where you could find some of the works as postcards and posters!

Trotz Feiertags schneller Einlass und entspanntes Personal. Edvard Munch war der Hauptgrund meines Besuchs. Jedoch sind hier viele, weitere sehr interessante Künstler (aus Berlin) vertreten. Es wird den Kunstinteressierten sehr viel geboten. Top!👍
War zur Edward Munch Ausstellung (bis 22.01.24 noch zu sehen). Nun ja, ein Fan von E. Munch werde ich nach wie vor nicht. Allerdings war es interessant, in der Ausstellung einiges mehr über sein Leben und Wirken, auch in Berlin, zu erfahren. Hatte mich nie wirklich mit ihm und seinen Werken beschäftigt und wusste daher auch wenig.
Doch durch die Informationen kann ich die doch oft düsteren und auch depressiven Motive etwas mehr nachvollziehen.
Allerdings hat mich dann die ständige Ausstellung um so mehr überrascht, daher gibt es auf jeden Fall einen zweiten Besuch.
Um seinen Museumsbesuch abzurunden oder sich einstimmen zu lassen, ist auf jeden Fall das Café Dix zu empfehlen. In der warmen Jahreszeit kann man auch auf einer Terrasse den kulinarischen Angeboten frönen.

This is one of the coolest museums in Berlin and one of the best samurai museums in the world, seriously contender for top 5. I’ve seen most in Japan and the integration of tech and English/German on everything is really great. Never had that detail in Japan. Great for a rainy day or if you want to see some really cool examples of mastery🙌
Like the other museums in the famous island, the Alte Nationalgalerie is well organized and treats it's collection with respect.
With regards to the collection, one has to remember that this is mostly a German-only collection, but it does include some pieces from neighboring European countries.
As far as the ambiance goes, the museum is clean and flows well from room to room, but the lighting of the pieces is a clear place for improvement.

Bei jeder Berlin-Tour muss man dahin. Tolle Sonder-Ausstellungen, aber auch die dauerhafte Sammlung ist immer wieder toll. Eine Kunstreise durch das Berlin der letzten 150 Jahre. Sehr gut gemachte Audioguides unterstützen den Besuch der Ausstellungen!
Great illustration exhibition of visuals and lights. It’s a bit expensive but worth for money. I was also there for Christmas illustration but it’s very much limited and definitely not at all worth for money. But over all experience was good no complaints.😁
We are coming back for sure. Some kind of tradition. And it is that Museum reflecting contemporary art and society in Berlin and whole Germany. Just go and enjoy.
Extensive range of paintings and sculptures, particularly enjoyed the landscapes here. Easy flow to follow around the exhibits and a beautiful building. Walked in on a Wednesday without a ticket, no lines and quickly bought a ticket at the counter.
War sehr gut, man kann wirklich viele interessante Sachen suchen ein Manko ist, dass man nicht zum allen auch Informationen hat, die man durchlesen kann. Es gibt zwar Ständer an dem man Dinge nach lesen kann aber wenn es voll ist kommt man nicht wirklich an die Dinger ran.
I loved the museum, had really great illusions and you can download a special camera app that allows you to do certain activities, the staff were friendly and helpful especially Mia, she really showed me in great detail how to do the illusions! Buy your tickets in advance because it is a very popular museum that brings much interest and tickets sell out!
In the neighborhood of Kreuzberg, few hundred meters from the well known Jewish museum, this art gallery offers an extraordinary permanent exhibition and very interesting temporary ones. I went for the Munch exhibition, which was truly interesting and moving. The space is very welcoming and the people friendly.
Wenn man an solch einem einmaligen Ort, nach kongenial in Beziehung gesetzten Kunstwerken, in einzigartiger Kulisse noch einen guten Cappuccino bekommt, ist das schon mehr, als man verlangen kann.

The experience is very engaging and immersive. It's worth spending some extra time in every room just to fully capture all details.
The amount of work behind the whole structure had to be kinda massive so tale your time to fully enjoy it.
If you are not thrilled and animated by lights, visual installations, patterns and sound textures definitely not the place for you

Take time to use the Isa Genzken information booklet at the entrance to follow through the exhibit. Exhibit felt like there wasn't enough space for each piece of work for full effect. Can be truly immersive and fun if you take your time with it. Exhibits on lower level can also be thought provoking. Excellent choice for contemporary art lovers and a good pick for one of the options for the museum pass.
fantastisches und großes museum, mit vielen ausstellungen und auch sehr viel zu sehen. die munch ausstellung war auch toll! audioguides sind auch kostenlos! waren am museumsoffenen sonntag da, weswegen es leider etwas zu voll war, da keine zeitfenstertickets ausgehändigt werden. dafür kam man aber direkt rein (ca. 18 minuten angestanden).

Kind of disappointing. Glad the Klimt exhibition was free and included with the regular ticket but wow is this art gallery small. 4 floors- yes but small. Not any noteworthy artworks on display. Overpriced shop but I still bought a Klimt magnet.
Großartiges Skulpturenmuseum mit erstklassigen Weltkunstwerken der Gotik, Renaissance, des Barocks, aber auch aus Byzanz und der Romanik. Dazu prächtige Innenräume des Neobarocks bzw. Historismus mit einem Patchwork aus gesammelten Archtekturspolien. Das Eingangstreppenhaus ist überwältigend!
Immer einen Besuch Wert, ggf. ist es an Sonntagen voller. Tickets vorab sichern lohnt sich also. Man sollte aufgrund der hohen Anzahl an Exponaten mindestens 1,5 Stunden mitbringen. Dazu sind auch die Führungen sehr zu empfehlen!
We visited during the Museum Sunday which is an event that happens every first Sunday of the month and got into the museum for free. The museum has three levels and there is only one entrance. However there are no elevators to go to each floor. Each floor also focuses on a specific era in art. There is a free audio guide that helps in describing the most important pieces of art in the gallery. When we visited there was the Klimt Exhibition on Secession. The collection is extensive and includes famous artists such as Klimt and Monet. It is worth noting that this was the last day of the Klimt exhibition. But there are still some of his paintings in the gallery. Overall the gallery was good and worth a visit
Komisches System. Man hat bereits Ticket für ein Zeitfenster geholt, muss sich aber trotzdem in die Schlange ganz hinten anstellen und eine halbe Stunde warten. Was hat das für einen Sinn 😂 Übrigens, einige Personal am Empfang sind mega unfreundlich. 직원 ㅆㄱㅈ 말아먹었네 ㅗ

Impressive building by Mies van der Rohe, recently restored. The Isa Genzken exhibition was well done, and a free booklet and map were provided which helped me appreciate the philosophy and techniques involved in the artist's work, which has evolved over many decades. I enjoyed the elliptical and hyperbolic art from the 1960s, and the Covid-19 Nefertiti, but was less impressed by the hanging chairs with stickers and cellophane wraps.
The rooms which normally exhibit a sample of the museum's impressive in-house collection ("Sammlung") - following a rotation system for the lesser known works and artists - was closed for refurbishment/rearrangement when I visited in late October 2023, during the same week when the Pergamon Museum closed. Indications that "the collection is closed" on the website were hard to fathom without further explanation of what is meant by "the collection".
I was a bit disappointed that a big section of the museum was closed given that some of the other important state museums in Berlin were closed or partly closed for refurbishment at the same time (not to mention the Pergamon which had been fully booked for weeks until its decades-long closure). I thought the end of October could be a good time to visit museums in Berlin but the curators seem to think differently. Given that these museums belong to the same agency, they could have coordinated a staggered plan for the closures.
I was also a bit annoyed that, though I had booked a timeslot well in advance, I needed to wait in line to enter with the people who had just acquired their tickets on the spot. Maybe this was due to the fact that I visited on a Thursday evening with extended hours when a German car company was sponsoring free tickets. But what's the point in asking people to get a separate (free) timeslot ticket (besides the regular museum entry ticket) using a complicated online box office procedure, if you don't sort out the visitors at the exhibition entrance?

Eins meiner Geburtstagsgeschenke war wirklich unerwartet, eine tolle Führung durch ein tolles Museum. Die Geschichte der Samurai und die künstlerische Ausarbeitung der Dinge, die zu ihnen gehörten ist faszinierend. Ich kann es nur empfehlen, ich habe Ähnliches in der Konzentration noch nie gesehen.

Ticket sales and bag drops into the cloak room were quick and easy, the staff were very friendly, kind and warm.

The exhibition place is super cosy but €16 is a bit too much of an entry fee to pay. The staff is nice and friendly and the ambience is really nice. I attended a photography exhibition on „Naked Bodies“ and I’d rate it 4/5. Attaching one of the pictures from the exhibition here.

A small but fun museums. Kids really loved and enjoyed it here.
Amazing show, we didn’t expected to be this good.
People put a lot of effort and love into those installations. We really enjoyed each of them.
Because of booked time slot it wasn’t that crowded.
One side note as we really searched a while, there are no parking slots in the area.

Nice experience with seven different rooms and formations along with good music. The price is expensive for what you get, way too expensive that’s why lost the two stars! It’s good to come spend some time (they estimate around 75 minutes) but you’ll finish it in max 50 minutes even though no one asks you to leave or so, so you can spend as much as you’d like inside.

Ich war etwas skeptisch als ich die vielen Kinder am Eingang des Museums sah - aber der Besuch, immerhin 2,5h, hat sich mehr als gelohnt. Eine toll kuratierte, perfekt aufgearbeitete und wunderbar digital begleitete Ausstellung, die auch Menschen mit wenig spezifischen Vorwissen zu Japan und zur japanischen Geschichte sofort in ihren Bann zieht, geschichtliche Zusammenhänge und Wissenswertes Detailwissen vermittelt. Eine neue Attraktion im Herzen Berlins. Unbedingt ansehen!
I’m going to ignore my feelings towards taking the wonderful place that was Kunsthaus Tacheles and turning it into this lifeless and expensive apartment complex. I will concentrate on Fotografiska.
I had zero expectations going into the museum, only the opinions of my friends saying it was worth it. Thinking about it now, it’s a shame calling the place a museum. Adding a bar area next to each exposition awfully distracts from the art. The shiny and polished interior somehow cheapens the experience.
Now about the exhibitions themselves. Art is subjective and individual to each person. Reason why it’s hard to categorize what art is. For me personally, the exhibitions Fotografiska were not it. “Whiteface” and “USSYPHILIA” had an interesting angle on the topic at hand but the execution was an absolute joke to me. I could talk about them a lot more but the review will get too long. “NUDE” being the most interesting exhibition and, yet again, it falls under the mediocrity label thanks to some of the works they decided to include. I did not want to attach pictures of the Artist's works, but needless to say - prices do not match the substance of the museum.
I guess the only positive I can give Fotografiska is that they kept most of the insides of the old building. Yet again, for me, that just evoke my memories of the old Tacheles. Another addition to the city that I do not support.

I don't really understand the lower than average reviews for this place. For me, if it was not for the price, it would get 5* all the way. No real need to book ahead as it was not too busy, even for a Saturday, and you have to queue up anyway! Exhibitions are not particularly varied in style but it's a modern art gallery with strong societal message that may or may not resonate with you, but as long as you go with an open mind you will enjoy it for sure. Some of the exhibitions may not be suitable for under 12s, depending on your own family values. For us, our kids were happy to go and make up their own minds, but I would understand if some parents would categorise this as 16+. Lovely café and bookshop on the ground floor. The only downside for me was that it cost me almost €50 for 2 adults and 2 children and with some refreshments later, it sits amongst the more expensive galleries in Berlin to visit.

A nice gallery gathering several expositions at the same time. We have come for Munch one , really nicely exposed and good variety. Even if I find the price a bit of expensive, it is worth visiting.
Had high hopes of this gallery but was disappointed, the Munch exhibit all the other reviews here hyped up was boring, far oversold and too busy, and had people talking non stop. Impossible to enjoy the art and take it in when it's that crowded (Monday mid afternoon), and with tour guides and just general people chatting. The other temporary exhibit about architecture in Berlin was better with some interesting models and write up abouts buildings. The permanent exhibits were a lot more interesting with some really though provoking pieces, but there just wasn't enough of them here! Overall disappointed
Stop by this place if you’re into modern art. It’s probably my most favorite museums in Berlin. The museum itself is not that big but it has nice exhibition spaces. The sculture garden in the back was really cool; don’t forget to check it out.

I’m a big fan of the original Fotografiska in Stockholm, so I was excited for this to open and went to the opening event.
The art is great, I love the curation. There were a handful of disappointing moments, like low-quality projectors being used to show photos, that really did a disservice to the work, but overall the shows were great and very well done. I will definitely return for future exhibitions.
The bar was a let down. The bartender was incompetent (and didn’t know what a gin fizz was). The payment system was set up so that you had to wait 3+ minutes after getting your drinks to pay… very inefficient. Hopefully this is something they will iron out in the future.
There were a few other minor opening-night kinks, and the crowds were a bit much, but I’m sure this will all smooth out in the future. I love that they are open late and that you can walk around the exhibitions with a drink - this is what makes this place stand out from other photography museums in Berlin. I will definitely return in the future and I look forward to seeing how it progresses.

Fotografiska Museum transcends the conventional boundaries of a museum. It's a place where art comes alive, where creativity knows no limits, and where every visit leaves you inspired and deeply moved. This is not just a museum; it's a journey into the world of visual storytelling. The staffs were too Friendly, Multilingual, easily communicable & they guided all the way from ground to top floor. A must-visit for anyone seeking to explore the limitless possibilities of photography as an art form.
I had a chance to visit this museum in 2023. It was Iza Genzken exhibition. Building is impressive. You won’t believe it was built in 60s.

I made to visit this space in the middle of change of temporary exhibition. Regular display was interested about architecture of Berlin. The choice of german art was a bit less interesting for my opinion, but maybe more educational to overview development of contemporary art in Berlin. Anyway worth to visit. Outside area is also great.
This place was amazing! We were intrigued to see what it would be like after hearing about it on social media, and we were definitely not let down. It was such a laugh, great photo opportunities and interactive exhibitions that I personally loved. 1 star deducted because for the size of the museum and the experience, it was very expensive
A very well-curated gallery worth visiting regularly. There usually is more than one exhibition running on the ground floor and a permanent archive on the second floor.

Book in advance! Don’t be intimidated by the idea of a guided tour in an art gallery, it actually makes the whole experience much better. I am not an art expert but the context and story behind the art you see makes it all very interesting. Not the mention the actual brief history of the bunker which you get to hear at the start. Initially I thought that 90 min might be a bit much but in reality it was not enough. Our guide Alana was excellent.
There are few different collections here. The museum is rather small but they have a section on sculptures, contemporary art, painting and film. The museum is not very extensive and not crowded so 2 hours is enough.

Definitely worth a visit! They do guided tours in "presentations" which change themes and art. Tour is really interesting and has a good mix of art and history of the building. The art isn't really to my taste, I thought a lot of it was quite pedestrian, but there were a couple of cool pieces. The building itself is very cool and interesting so just being inside is worth the admission! I don't have any pics as you aren't allowed to take any. Note - you MUST book. Tour in advance. You cannot just show up
What a great Sunday I had here. Besides hosting regular amazing exhibitions from artists globally the upper floor is also a great crash course in Berlin art history. One can easily loose themselves here for hours. The entrance process was easy, they have a baggage and coat check. The staff is friendly and they speak English. The space is easy to explore and has access to washrooms. Photography is allowed inside. On weekends the crowds show up. Overall one of my favorite Gallery experiences in Berlin
Definitely book in advance. It will save you so much time especially because the museum is also pretty big and you will need min 2h inside, probably 3h or 4h if you spend more time analysing the art. The wait outside seems to be around 20 to 30 min if you don’t have a ticket.
The tour guide is very useful but it has about 2 min per painting and although it selects 1 painting/ room it will take much longer if you also go through them.
I visited during the Secession expo and it was very informative and interesting. The Klimt paintings were amazing.

Wasn't too crowded on the sunday that they were offering free tickets. The temporary exhibits were inspiring and novel. It took about 1h for me to walk through the entire gallery. It was enjoyable.
It’s a good experience and good value for money. It is something different and very fun. The illusions are cool. There are plenty of photo opportunities. It is great for making memories with friends, having a good laugh and challenging your brain. I recommend for tourists it is cheap and fun with friends.
A mixed review for this museum: The art exhibits are undoubtedly unique and some of them interactive, which adds a special touch to the overall experience. However, I must admit that the admission price is a bit on the higher side. If you're willing to overlook the cost, you'll likely have an enjoyable time exploring the captivating artworks.
FANTASTIC museum in a former bunker that houses the Boros family collection of contemporary art. The bunker was originally built in 1942 as an air raid shelter. In the 90s it was briefly a club (and shows up in some of Wolfgang Tillman's photos). Our guide was terrific in explaining the Boros' collecting philosophy. NOTE: You must book well in advance for tickets - it's only open a few days a week and only accessible with a guided tour. And finally, would have given this 5-stars were photos allowed.
The architect was amazing overall, and included is the 3-day museum pass 🫶🏻 I'm not a huge fan of history but this museum was an exception. They offer audio guide along with pieces of paper guide at each exhibition room and it was quite easy to understand

Such a special place to experience art. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and continuously gave suggestions for other exhibitions to visit so we could see more of the artists' works. Great to learn about the various eras of the bunker itself, from bomb shelter to fetish club to gallery space.

I went to the Bode Museum in Berlin, and it was really cool! The building looked fancy and old-fashioned, and it's on a special island. Inside, there were lots of different artworks and things from a long time ago.

The museum had really nice views of the river and the city too. I spent some time just looking out the windows and enjoying the scenery.

It's a very big museum. Time passes by very fast. Be careful not to get lost inside. Galleries are spacious and well assembled. There are so many artworks that you forget which gallery you saw.
This private collection of art was challenging for me. The building is the most interesting thing to see on this tour. Our guide for the English tour was excellent. I liked the paintings from the 1970s located on one of the upper floors. For me, I want more than the name of the artist on the floor for context. Expecting typical museum didactics in this unconventional space and art collection may be too much to ask.
Very interesting place to visit! Exhibitions change every 4 years, and all the tours are always guided, so get your tickets in advance! There’s lots of contemporary art, but the most interesting part for me was the history of the bunker itself.

Fun museum for people of all ages.
Illusions are well explained. Easily 1h inside (without taking other visitors into account) if you take time to see and try everything.

What a nice museum, a lot of fun for every curious ! I recommande. If a Can give an advice : Take your ticket before, it's more comfortable. Some people critize the museum because of the short time to achieve the visite. Howerver, in my opinion you should take your time for really appreciate it. We make one hour to finish it, and it was absolutly great and fun !

Brandenburg Gate is Berlin's most famous landmark and a must-see for all visitors. A symbol of Berlin and German division during the Cold War, it is now a national symbol of peace and unity. Iconic gate to photograph. Come for pictures and enjoy the specular art!
