I was at this shelter with my father 2019 … the mattress was literally the worst… all you could feel was the strings.. caused me to have baddd back pain. We were only there for about 3 weeks and left because the family next door was loud and the mattress was soo thin, and so was the sheets they gave us to sleep in. The facility was beauty tho, very friendly people, good food. Hopefully they give better mattresses and blankets.

We scheduled a pickup for Saturday, 21 October 2023; we are 72 years old. We hauled 13 suitcases, a mattress, boxspring, headboard and 48 other heavy, full boxes of items down 2 flights of stairs and down a steep driveway--ALL ITEMS WERE ON THE SA WEBSITE AS SUITABLE FOR DONATIONS! We were stop number 5, and the truck was completely empty at 11:30 AM. The driver and assistant refused to take any of our items. When I opened the boxes to show new nursing uniforms, new stuffed animals with tags still on them, etc., he reluctantly took only 2 those 2 boxes. Then he offered to take everything, remaining (if we paid him!) to a dump.Outrageous. Clearly, driver did not want to work that day. It was insulting to offer to dump our items, to demand money, and to have the SA forfeit our donations.
Cant get calls to pick up or return calls. I found a disbursement request, have no idea what it is and they left no contact info on request. I will most likely have to revoke the trust since no one will call or pick up phones.

The people are very nice and efficient. Very clean and the people at the front are bilingual
I wouldn’t give anything to Salvation Army again. They pick and choose what they want and then leave you with other items to find a home for. Their drivers were rude. Go with another charity that is appreciative

Receptionist lost my drivers license and tried to get me to believe id lost it lol
Exceptional service when setting up a special needs trust for my daughter. The Director has unsurpassed knowledge to set up and manage the trust. She and her team took the time to explain the all the variables to consider and why each step in the process was required. I have complete confidence that my daughter's needs will be supported.
The lines were a little long but it was helpful to get free food when we are a no income family right now
Ms. Diane and Ms. Jamia are amazing people, they didnt hesitate to help with open and caring arms. The staff was so caring and made me feel comfortable, safe, and provided all my toiletries needs. The facility was very clean and organized. Very very thankful.
NOT ADDRESSING SPECIAL NEEDS: I am volunteering to help a young disabled Black male purchase medical items needed. No one will answer any questions. No one knows why the child's account with them has consistently shown a drop of almost 20%. The monthly statements provide no details on the actual investments and show BIG LOSSES and FEES! NO ONE is answering the questions. The Arc is still accepting more and more deposits while harming the participants they have and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get out of it while they get paid and DO NOT ALLOW WITHDRAWALS. Who are these people with the positive comments? They must not be beneficiaries because The Arc does not care! I will stay the course and keep helping and keep calling.
I don't think they manage the investments in the special needs trust themselves because their customer service is pretty poor. I think the bank managers those investments. The investments do pretty well but the follow-through on submitted disbursement request is abysmal

I was there for the 1 time. I did not know the volunteer had to take back the ticket
They give, he approached me in my way out and snapped the ticket from me very rude behavior and aggressive. Won't be returning I have need and benefit from the help is greatly appreciated. However will prefer to avoid it in the future. Thank you so much for volunteering.

If you need a couple t-shirts, they will give you some. If you really need help, save your time and find somewhere else. They don’t respond to calls, emails, or texts. And then they blame you for not being responsive. Save your energy and find another place. This organization just sucks up the funding and does nothing to help you. The case workers will lie to cover their you know what and act like they are helping you. This place is a scam. Stay far far away!
Can't get a call back as tried. I call and leave messages. The computation is very poor. .

The team members here are extremely rude!
Called to donate and they came to pick up rudest guys I ever dealt with and then slammed my door on the way out. Way to thank people who donate and very unprofessional.
DVAC is a safe and welcoming place offering counseling and also just a place to sit and breathe
What a waste of government resources. I still am waiting for a call back. This has happened MULTIPLE times
Salvation army will not pick up calls or responds to message left on their voicemail. Terrible for people who plege to serve people in distress.
If you have to apply for anything there, walk-in. They will never return your call.I'm talking From own experience

Very helpful, strong environment, built with the goals to ensure families, for me they do!

OAR is a group of dedicated, passionate individuals who truly care about the well-being of the people/families being served. OAR supports each person on an individualized basis with tailored services/support specific to that person in helping them achieve their own goals. A great resource for 1-on-1 or group support for anyone involved in the justice system.

They claim to offer appointments on the 15th of each month. For 3 months in a row I would call their lines EXACTLY on open time. They take me straight to voicemail. 0 help.

I had to deal with them through the court. The case manager i recieved seemed very helpful in person. When you leave the office, communication slumps. She had issues returning phone calls and seldomly responded to emails. She was late placing me at a volunteer location by 2 weeks and when i called, my call was not returned. I had to call the front desk to hunt her down and she wouldnt be in the office or would be there later in the day. Others in OAR had to work to resolve my issues. It was hell on earth trying to get my hours updated in the system. I went to court with my hours being completed and the judge scolded me because they were not updated in the courts system despite me sending them to my case worker. My point is, depending on your worker, you will have to jump in these people's skins to make them do their job. Overall the program is helpful, but maybe they are under staffed? I had a huge headache after my final court date because my paperwork still was not correct.

Very helpful.
They were going to help me and my daughters and when they couldn’t find us a place they told me to register them in Loudoun County for school. Since school was starting. I had been staying in Loudoun with a friend for a few months so they said it was the only option. Then as soon as school started they said oh well you’re no longer a fairfax resident so we cant help you. Now I am again homeless and have no county to help me. PS I am only homeless because of divorce and sickness.

A fantastic group of caring advocates and professionals. Keep up the great work Arc, and it's been an honor working alongside you when needed as a psychologist in supporting families with disabilities in the DMV!

I loveeeee this place, I’ve shopped there for years almost a decade at this point and have a special place in my heart for not only the store and what they do but the wonderful staff and heads of management (Gigi,Vilma,&Nada). Wednesday’s of course is the best time to go because of the 25% discount but I’d rather get the deals whenever I can make it to the store. Whether you’re a seasoned thrifter or simply like good deals on great finds Salvation Army of manassas off ballsford rd is the place to go. I refer all of my thrifting buddies and never have to worry about a shortage of great things because of how massive the store is. I will shop there for as long as I am able to breathe and touch God’s green earth. #Thankful 😃

My son has been attending the Chimes Virginia day program for several years now. It’s a great program with wonderfully supportive staff and many good activities in the community. Highly recommended.
A great resource center for victims of domestic/sexual violence. All the social workers are great to work with. Allison Medina is one of the managers and she is a very empathetic and dedicated person who provides counseling services to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
I am so glad I stopped by The ARC of Northern Virginia today. I was promptly greeted by Allie. She was very welcoming and provided me with contact
information and reading material.
The place is nice, the only problem some employees tend to discriminated clients.
