I have been waiting for my food stamp case to be re-instated.
AFter submitting the Recon papers on Nov. 19th by hand delivering it to the Towson location. Spoke to 1 case worker and several phone people who are just message takers. I'm having a rought time putting food on the table. At lease send a letter explaining when the stamps will be available. Don't just ghost people it shows poor professionalism. Poor organizational and communications skills on the whole department. Please do better people are barely making it with no job, living with friends,etc.
To start with, they don't want to help you, they do their job reluctantly and when you call you wait up to two hours and in the end they don't answer and hang up, I wasted my time
Horrible customer service!!, was waiting there for hours because I had questions about an application just to be told to drop off my documents at different window (#8) and when I repeated I had questions the lady said then grab another number/ticket because I can’t answer questions I can only receive documents! Really and wait a few more hours. Went through this some time ago when I applied online and they were supposed to call me for an interview and never did. That’s why I thought it’ll be better to go in person, I guess this ladies don’t like to work, they don’t help at all. The have a bad attitude. The managers or whoever who’s in charge need to retrain or replace this workers who are there to help the people who actually pay taxes so they can get a job with benefits!!!!
They don't help you I fee something is going happen in that building. They help certain people. They give you resources that do not work where is all this money Baltimore suppose to have where is IT. People with no kids need help as well. I can relate to the move THE JOKER (We matter Too
I dont even know what to say atp, they never answer the call. I was on hold for 47 muns and after that someone answered. I could hear people laughing and giggling in the background then they chose to hung up on me. Then I called again and no one answered for good 37 mins and finally someone picked up the call where he was talking to someone in the background and again hung up on me. This is awful!!! People replace your staff if they dont wanna work. We cant be on hold for 2-3 hrs and still dont get to talk to anyone.
This is rediculous that you have to be on hold for an hour or more. Something needs to be done about this asap . This is so unprofessional. No one ever answers their phone wooooooow
I can't believe they actually answered. I called literally at 8am on the dot maybe that's why? But, they did help me with knowing what's going on with my application and l was approved online. It you're approved online and didn't get any updates l recommend calling urgently.
The security and staff are usually very sweet. The lines do take a while go on a day that you have no other appointments so your not stressed and you don't stress there staff they deal with a lot of people.

My son had his redet today. In the past it’s always been an absolute nightmare at other offices. We don’t recall her name but she was so nice and took less than 10 minutes to help. Thank you so much we’re very grateful.
This location is the worst social services I've ever had to deal with. The workers treat it like the mean girls club always talking about someone thinking the public can't hear them. They do not want to do their job. And if they did do some type of work you better guarantee they will definitely screw it up. BEWARE AND BE ALERT. They act as if they missed 1 paycheck they wouldn't be standing in the same line as everyone else!!!!
Employees are thorough, and they help me, and the building is nice. I've only had respectful encounters there.
Horrible place. It should be illegal for them not to answer the phones. Shut this garage place down

They all good people they help with food and they paid the rest of my Bge bill so I’m very thankful. I don’t remember all the names but nice and sweet people they all genuinely care
I use CAN's pantry once a month. It's interesting because they have it set up like a small store. They give you a shopping cart and a paper that tells you how many of each item you may choose, depending on the size of your household. If you've been there a lot in the past, they may let you shop alone, but most times a volunteer will escort you around the store to keep you on track.

It's a lot of food. Seriously, a whole grocery cart full. The past three times I have gone, I have received 20lb turkeys. Those things can keep me fed for well over a week. You also get fruit, veg, household products, cereal, pasta, breads, sweet snacks, meats. Sometimes eggs, cheese, milk.

Thing is, you have to have the right paperwork. They're clear about what they require from you on their website, so check that out before you go for the first time. And you will have to recertify within 6 months, so keep your information handy for that.

Closed on the weekends and Tuesday
It's been years since I've been there but I recall being treated extremely nice they are so nice there with the volume of people they deal with on a daily basis I take my hats off to them for their patience and kindness
Got here at 8:30 was only three pple ahead of me its almost 1pm im still here an they close at 3 haven’t been seen very first time applying pple that came after me were seen b4 me and these 2 women have had an attitude since they opened no one wants to do anything or be bothered they wrk here but you ask a question they don’t know any thing just useless.
I applied for rental assistance for the month of october i was initially pre approved they told me i had to pay a percentage of the rent . I paid it in a timely fashion. Days went by i didn’t hear from anyone just for them to to say i didn’t submit the document that was needed. In actuality they was in contact with my leasing office and had all the information they needed. Fast forward they ask me to do the process over again for the month of November . Paid my percentage the next month but never heard anything afterwards. THIS COMPANY IS FRAUD when it comes to rental assistance ,HARD TO GET IN CONTACT WITH AND DOESN’T KEEP YOU UPDATED ON PROCESS UNLESS YOU REACH OUT NUMEROUS TIMES. TEARA JACKSON WAS NICE BUT DID NOT COMPLETE OR HELP ME IN ANYWAY.oh and even if i was DENIED they never gave me the letter as promised in the contract stating that i was denied . Very dissatisfied with the service and will not be looking for any assistance from them going forward.
Lady at the front desk is very mean and doesn’t matter. If you have all all the documentations, I have two disabled adult children that I take care of and she wanted me to bring them there. Lol. One of them and the other one with severe autism. 22 and 28 yrs old. Granite, I had been there before for help and she didn’t need me to bring them there, but it seems to be a problem now. I see her turn around many many people who just need a little bit of help with some food even elderly people. This is a government supplemental program. She has no right to turn people away! She would not take any of my documentation because my boys weren’t there but yet I can go speak on their behalf, medically or anything financially because I am there caregiver and representative. She’s completely wrong for what she did. If I could give her a zero star I would. !!!! I will never be going to this place again. I’d rather die in the streets if I had to.
They help me get the grant to do some work in my house and outside they work hard for you doesn't cause you anything
I put application in, back in August 25th 2023 still have herd from them the lady at desk told me they reached capacity i was leaving but security guard called me back to be seen. After having seat I notice she let 4 to 5 more people in afterwards but was sending me away just don't understand why she pick and choose who she let in for services unacceptable.
There is a man at this location that is tall and bald with glasses and with a deep voice. He should not be working with the public. He is rude and nasty. This is already a sensitive situation, getting free food assistance. I shouldn't be made to feel less or be rushed for his lunch. He lied and said that there were people behind me but that was determined to be untrue when I peeked into the empty lobby. Do better. Serve your community better
I needed help with a BG& E bill. I was turned away at 1:40pm by the security desk. I was told I needed an appointment and the office was at capacity. I told the young man I had an active turn off notice... it didn't seem to matter. I was turned away. The website lists the closing hours are at 4:30
I have been trying to get in contact with this organization for over a year. Their agent Emily Elkins completely stopped talking to me when I was trying to complete my rental assistance application. It's been a year now and I've been trying to contact them by phone, by email, and even in person. They will not speak to anyone. They will not answer their phones. They will not answer their emails. When you go to their building in person in Montgomery Park Business center, they literally tell the front desk to tell people that just call 211. They want people to call that number but they won't answer phone calls or respond to messages. Because of this I'm on the verge of game kicked out of my apartment with nowhere to go while I'm struggling to pay off my debts. This organization just does not seem trustworthy for the simple fact that they just don't want to talk to people. So pretty much you're on your own if you are struggling with anything in regards to rent for utilities. The only thing you can do is find someone who you can rely on on a personal level. Don't worry about trying to get help from these organizations. They clearly don't want to help you.
These people have no idea what they are doing. I've been there 5 times already trying to get energy assistance, financial assistance and food stamps while waiting for disability approval and sitting in the dark for 6 weeks now. Still nothing has been done.
Everyone was nice but there are alot of people who hang outside and this is a Mayor's station they called the police they asked what color they were and when she said African american and a few Caucasians as well Noone came but there was a officer parked across the street the whole time never got out of there suv.
My landlord helped me apply with the STEP program in 2021, and it was a blessing indisguise. This is a great program if your landlord is a participant.
The disrespect and unprofessional attitudes are unnexceptable. Hire ppl with better customer service skills. They don't seem like they care about their jobs at all. On top of everything, I've called and have been left on hold for two days now for over an hour. And if I hit the option for a call back, nobody calls me back. What's going on????

This place is ridiculous. Teara Jackson was suppose to be helping me with my case but she VANISHED. She had me submit all of me and my children’s personal documents all to turn around and never return my call. I have been constantly calling, leaving voicemails and spoke with someone else to have her return my call but still nothing. Here I have an open case where no one is doing anything with it after I was asked to send all of my personal information over. I sent all of what was required over within the requested timeframe but it’s been almost a week since Teara Jackson has followed up with me. I spoke to her one time and she told me she would call me back in 20 minutes to go over my documents and she never did. Had me sitting here believing that she and this organization would help me but they lack at their doing their job. How is this place open but no one barely answers, especially after collecting all of your personal information and documents! I will be reporting this place and her as well because this has caused an issue with my landlord now as they needed what they needed from her at a decent time. If your looking for assistance please just get help somewhere else where they actually care about your situation and will communicate with you properly. This is highly unprofessional and again her name is Teara Jackson will be reported.

Not a very comfortable visit as I had to pass by public drinkers and drug dealers. I had to wait outside the building while the staff verified that I actually had an appointment. Once I was allowed to enter, I was seen immediately, and the service rep was efficient and knowledgeable. I wouldn't recommend going without an appointment.
So apparently, I will never be returning to this food pantry again, and I will be telling my loved ones about this and they can tell their friends every time I come I either have to walk along way from the bus stop and take a cab home or I have to take a cab there and back which I don’t have endless amount of money to do that on top of that there’s been numerous amount of times where some of the staff have been rude to me and then turning me down. I literally got there at 2:30 and the manager told me that I was not able to be seen even though the door says 2:45 if you arrive there before then you will be seen not to mention that every month I come there’s nothing at all to choose from and there are tons of other food pantries that I can go to to get my stuff for the house!! Take care and I don’t recommend this food pantry
Stephanie David (Loan Officer) is the best at this process. Effective communication, great advice and she listens. When you add Stephanie to the mix, it’s going to happen! She literally works all night. 10 o’clock at night and she’s emailing to keep the process moving. Even the sellers side was impressed. She is the friend you need in this. She wants you to enjoy your home and not be or become “house poor”. She’s great for and with first timers. She’s had excellent grant knowledge and she will find the money! Stephanie set a closing date and time for closing and she got me to the table as promised and on time. She even gave my niece advice which guided her and kept her on track for her closing. Anyone I know in the market, I’m definitely sending her way. Thank you Stephanie! You made this process easy, you helped understand all that was going on, you never let communication drop and I’m a home owner!

I wish the workers have more Quality training for customer service how they talk to you is very disrespectful , We are all adults why not respect one another , they refuse to give their name so you can report them It’s like they are mad at the world. Security officers are more respectful then the workers. I wish I didn’t need to use these services at all right now.
I wish I could put zero stars . But I had to put one star so I can leave a review. It’s like the workers there , including the supervisor named Mr.Hall only come to work for the check . They don’t answer calls or respond back to messages . I’ve been calling and coming up to the location for at least 2 months now with NO HELP FROM THEM . I gave them everything I needed to receive benefits for me and my now 4 month old son . I still haven’t received ANYTHING OR ANY RESPONSE AND THEY HAVE EVERYTHING THEY NEED . I need to find out how I can report this place ! They don’t accomplish anything for this to be the main branch . I don’t recommend Mr. Hall or this branch at all . They need to do what they’re paid to do .

Ms. Sharon is the best person you can ever meet. She's not about just helping others. She actually cares about others. We met her back in March 2021. She's family to us now. Life couldn't get any better now

Mostly closed to the public for the pandemic. Helps people getting on the right track. Some phone meetings and some delivery for now.
They're always super generous and give us specific things we ask for. In these difficult times, I love knowing I can count on CAN to feed my family. They always have a great assortment of food and even candy! The hours are pretty decent as well.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THE SERVICES OF FAMILY LEAGUE OF BALTIMORE TO FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND CO-WORKERS BECAUSE, THEY HAVE AN EXCELLENT STAFF AND PROVIDE SERVICES AND INFORMATION TO YOUTH, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS. We found them at a Live Baltimore event and decided to use them to get our homebuyer education certificate. We submitted all of our requisite documents on Feb 13. The website claims we would be contacted WITHIN 2 BUSINESS DAYS to schedule our one-on-one counseling session. Today is Feb 26, and we still have not received a phone call. We can't get a real person on the phone, and this is holding up our homebuying process as we need the certificate to apply for our grant! I would not recommend them at this point if you want to keep on a timetable.... and I will definitely be providing feedback to Live Baltimore as well. Very disappointed in their service.
This facility was beautiful, clean, and welcoming. We attended this event for CPR and first aid training and I have to say the facilitator was awesome and the organizers were fantastic. I encourage people in Baltimore to utilize the Family League of Baltimore Center when they offer events that pertain to public awareness and safety. Kudos!!!!

NHS scheduled an appointment with my buyer. Before the session, they had a copy of his credit report only to have him come to the one on one session and was told that due to his medical bills he did not qualify for his HB certificate. He is pre-approved for his loan, and the loan officer said the medical bill was not an issue. As a result, he had to go elsewhere.
The relationship between the lender's and NHS does not exist. If the lender can finance, what's the issue? Most buyer's that need their service have an issue, and the lender are aware of this.
Please meet with them to understand their guidelines.
Homeownership is becoming more difficult for the low-income buyer, and they deserve the help. Speak with the lender and consider things on a case by case basis. Please.
People helping people please give if you are able
Cost us the original house we wanted because they didn't schedule us for the date we agreed to over the phone. Paid $150 for a quick meeting time to not lose the second. At the meeting we received a list of incentives we should qualify for. We found out we didn't qualify for any and the NHS list was incorrect/outdated. Our mortgage had to be raised by a few thousand dollars 10 days before close to help us manage the down payment because we trusted NHS and they lied. Save your money and skip them.
Great organization that helps a lot of people & nonprofit organizations in central Maryland.

NHS Baltimore has been one of the most difficult organizations I have ever worked with. When I originally purchased my home I was forced to push closing back because they did not provide the necessary documents in time, despite repeatedly promising it would be fine and completed. The only reason I even got the funding promised was because I contacted someone who oversees their organization.

Now that I am trying to refinance because of a divorce. I called them to confirm my options from the beginning, and they said everything was fine as long as I did not get cash back on the loan. I have spent the last 2 months waiting to finalize my refinance for NHS Baltimore and now they have decided to not allow it.

DO NOT USE THIS ORGANIZATION. Twice now they have cost me additional time, money and resources because of their incompetence. It is not worth your time.
The most caring people you can find I made lots of new friends there and continue to do so genuine people I love them all. May GOD continue to bless them.
I am actually an employee of a company that this group uses for support. I have been on site here to perform repairs a number of times. The staff is friendly and caring. This place has a noble mission and I wish them the best.
Terrible! From start to finish this has been by far the most unorganized and unprofessional company I've encountered. Nothing has been easy from the very beginning. Scheduling the class may have been the easiest part and that even required several phone calls and faxes. Come to the counseling session and it took 3 weeks to get the appointment due to them (apparently) never receiving the required 200+ pages of documents. So instead I email them as attachments and still a week+ goes by with no return phone calls or return emails. Finally scheduled the counseling session and went for the one-on-one, thought great, finally this may be over soon. Nope, I didn't have $2,500 cash showing available in my bank account. Was told by Mr. Griffin, just send a screen shot showing the funds and I'll give the okay to move forward and put a contact on the home. Well, that was sent a week ago as well as yesterday and who has yet to return any phone calls or emails to myself or my lender, Mr. Griffin. I even left a message for the director listed on the website and didn't receive a call back from her either. It's sad that an organization handling federal funds could run this way. So here I am still waiting to hear from Mr. Griffin before I can place a contract on a home I have been interested in. Not to mention I need to settle before November or all of this torture was for nothing.
The class is pretty rushed. If you pay $50 for the class you are supposedly guaranteed to see a one on one counselor within 3 weeks of your packet being turned in, but that guarantee is meaningless. If you don't get seen in 3 weeks, you have no recourse. I rated it as It's okay, because regardless you will get your cert, just don't believe the hollow guarantee.
