This place is incredible, and I'm so grateful to have such a good wine shop nearby. They have an very well-curated selection of wines, where even the cheap bottles are never misses. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, and on top of that so friendly and welcoming.
(That is, under the new ownership since spring 2022. Before that the wine selection was still on point, but I'd walk to a further shop on days I wasn't emotionally strong enough to withstand barely-concealed scorn from the former staff for my lack of wine knowledge.)

Horrible shopping experience! GET OUT OF HERE! The woman working at this store is rude, unfriendly and completely discourages anyone from buying anything here. As written in previous reviews, she supports Russian propaganda and has the rudeness to make rude remarks to customers. Don't leave your money here, don't give her income from your purchases. There is a great store two blocks south with much lower prices.

Lots of variety and delicious foods at reasonable prices. Great Asian food market and upstairs there is more shopping, collectibles, pottery, arcade claw machine games and more. My only caution is not to show up in the last hour that they are open since many vendors shut down early if they're not busy.

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this little patch of Japan culture! We tried some of the food court restaurants and everything was delicious. Highly recommend!
Great wine shop. Everyone is super knowledgeable and fun to speak with and learn from. Love the events and tastings they have from time to time as well. Highly recommend!
Super neat place to visit if you're around. Took the kids there for the japanese comic book store. They have vintage video games on sale there with tons of anime figures and gifts. They also have a food market on the first floor although the things were a little overpriced. But considering there isn't another japanese market around I guess the higher prices are expected. There's also some restaurants and bar in the connected buildings. It's a cool place to visit if you're around. They have these cute little toy vending machine like the one's in asia. There's a few other neat little shops in there and a video game room that's $5 person. We didn't have much time so we didn't visit the game room. The decor is very nice and it's a nice place to take pictures or just enjoy a little afternoon time relaxing with friends and family.
Nice small shop with a great variety of sake and more! I was even able to find a bottle of green tea plum wine that I’ve been looking for! The lady running the store was also very friendly.
I’m a wine aficionado for the past decade+ and came here after doing some research when the sake bug bit me one day. Boy did I hit the jackpot! Sophia was amazing and took her time walking me through the many different subtleties that can effect the final product 🍶 She helped us curate a 4-pack to experience (some of) the major categories of sake styles as well as recommending a really great book for me to 🤓 out with. It’s been 2 weeks now tasting through these and reading to educate myself more and not only am I a big fan of sake now (without just shooting blindfolded) I’m a huge fan of Bin Bin Sake. Thank you for this shop, it’s absolute jewel.

Good spot for BYOB and eat at a multitude of restaurants within walking distance. Wine selections are good variety and trendy. Took another break here with Apple Cider and a Cohiba. Easy access and bike friendly. Not your regular mom & pop liquor shop. Good views of cyclists passing by. Weekends are nice to watch outdoor bands.

For my birthday last year my daughter gave me a gift of six bottles of wine from this store. Through the year we had a chance to try all them - white, rose and red. Five of them were excellent, one was simply good. Recently on a good occasion I was able to taste the French

Love how this whole neighborhood of old factories and warehouses have been revamped to Loft style buildings that host shops, game themed businesses, food and arts. There are multiple buildings and each one connects via a courtyard passageway. Japan Village is Building 4 and contains an amazing food court, Japanese Supermarket, Daiso, and Book Off - a lot of Anime goodies and Manga. I wish I lived closer, I'd come every week!! Indoor and outdoor seating, restroom areas are plenty and clean. Very trendy and fun for the entire family. Each building has so much to see and on multiple floors. Enjoy!
They have the best table of under 20 where I’m always able to find delicious affordable wines! It’s my go to wine shop in the neighborhood!

I love visiting this place! There's Daiso, which has just about everything for great prices. I love Sunrise Mart, they sell all kinds of Japanese products—from cosmetics to groceries. I also had lunch at Hachi and enjoyed the takoyaki and okonomiyaki.

I've been frequenting this wine shop for 5 years and only have good things to say. Love everyone who works there. They have a great selection for whatever you might be looking for — I myself appreciate the extensive selection of very affordable bottles they have :)
grapepoint is the perfect wine store: organized, full of variety, and reasonable prices. they have a well curated rotation of inventory, lots of chilled options, and great deals. check out their 2 for $20 section and the 20% off section. they also do wine tastings which is what we all need when shopping. the staff is also delightful and easy to chat with. if you’re in gp, this should be your wine store.
Stumbled upon this place the other day and it’s such a hidden gem! Huge selection of wine and a decent amount of sake selections as well (which we’ve been looking for in the area) at different price points.
The man behind the counter was also extremely friendly and helpful. So happy we found this spot - will definitely be coming back :)

It was my second time visiting Japan Village and loved it even more! Don’t miss out in the other floors and building. The Daiso was better experience than some others I’ve been to around NY. There are so many cute shops, and well curated stores for anyone who likes unique boutique food stores, home goods and clothes shops. The Japanese food court is fun too for a quick meal, but I like the restaurants. Just remember they take a midday break between lunch and dinner. It’s a foodie heaven. Enjoy the ramen, onigiri, takoyaki, and more! Fun for all ages!

Japan village is fantastic! Their grocery store has so many wonderful items that are hard to find anywhere else. I lived in Japan for 3 years, so this store is perfect for finding all of the things that make me nostalgic ☺️
Great selection at reasonable prices. I ordered a bottle of Champagne for a special birthday. I live out of town and was very pleased that they made the delivery to my friends home within 2 hours of my order. Great service.

We’ve visited twice. They have a good selection of kosher saké and other Japanese liquor. You’ll need to do some searching on your own to find them—they’re mixed in with everything else. The staff was excellent. After we told them what kosher logos look like, they started finding kosher bottles for us! We bought a Shochu they recommended. I would make a point of visiting again. I highly recommend this store.
Michael Towne came in clutch with a special edition bottle that was sold out all over Manhattan. I was on a short timeline & they delivered the bottle same day. Very good communication up til & even after the delivery. The least I could do is review my great experience & give them first look next time I’m buying.
The master of the shop was amazing, his name is Sam awesome nice guy with a old school tuffness. Definitely highly recommended.

I love Irving bottle. The staff is always friendly enough to help pick a wine if needed. I was hosting a dinner with friends and asked them for the best pairings and was able to find a few bottles for the night. I can’t forgot to mention the best greeters biscuit and fig!!
Beautiful store, nice selection of natural wines, reasonable prices, but without the service and knowledge you’d expect from a boutique shop. The staff never offer to help, and seem too busy playing on their phones to offer more than vague affirmations that something is “good” when I’ve asked. A lot of wine shops have short descriptions of some wines on hang tags or cards, but they don’t even have that. If I wanted to google a bunch of wines I could stay home – but there are plenty of other shops in the neighborhood to visit instead.

Honestly- this is the best wine store I have ever been to. They are so friendly and helpful. The selection is amazing, and the atmosphere is perfect. We only shop here for natural wine.

This place is really cool, lots of great food options. The courtyard area is nice, there’s some seating. They had heat lamps out and a fire pit. Definitely, recommend checking it out.
🍶 Cool quaint sake store on the edge of the building. Really impressive selection of saké, wine & spirits. They carry Japanese imports as well as Brooklyn made saké (Made in Bushwick* I believe). A fine selection too at that! If you’re even casually into saké you can see they carry some real quality products. The staff was knowledgeable and had good recommendations. They keep some already chilled in a fancy rotating cooler so you can get the party started right away 😉 🍶 ha but in seriousness, it’s nice they’ve considered that for us, the customer. They also have Japanese whiskey. Their prices are good for their selection and worth stopping in to shop here for! So come check them out and enjoy, Kanpai! 😎🍶
Unbeatable selection of sake, curated for both those excited to explore unusual imports and for solid, affordable staples. They have the largest selection of umeshu I've ever seen, including some of the spicier, richer, and less overpoweringly sweet versions which is awesome since many are super tasty. The staff is also kind and knowledgeable; very willing to help you find something regardless of whether or not you know what you're shopping for.
amazing sake tastings held in the beautiful event space connected to rule of thirds— my friends and I learned so much about sake, the different varieties, and how it’s made. it was a seriously cool activity and the people running it really know their stuff. the shop itself is a small little sake shop, but has an amazing selection of sake, shochu, and japanese whiskey! i can’t wait to be back here.
Great little sake/wine shop that’s part of Rule of Thirds. Knowledgeable staff and even though they weren’t doing tastings at the time, she let us try some sake that had been opened. There’s a rotating fridge in the center for chilled items.
Super cute sake and wine store! The store is designed with very clean lines & they have a huge selection of sake, Japanese wines, and Japanese liquors like gin and whiskey. George the owner is very nice and knowledgeable & he really helps each customer find what they are looking for. The space is small, so it can get busy very quickly but it’s definitely worth it for the cool and unique variety they sell
The only place near me I found Stranahan's Sherry Cask and other hard to get bottles.

When I lived in the Heights for 7 years, Michael Towne was my go to place many evenings after I got off the 2/3 at Clarke St station. Always a great balance of selection and price. After many years on the Upper West Side where 67 Wine was nearby (another fine place), I returned to Brooklyn. Though no longer in Brooklyn Heights, I'd rather wait and have Michael Towne choices delivered than purchase from my nearby providers. The attention to both detail and customers needs make it worth the extra wait. I hope the Clarke St elevator replacement project has not impacted their business too much.
I visited Japan village in Monday night. It was odd because all the stores closed at 7:00 pm .

Wonderful Wines & Spirits store, Michael-Towne has an extraordinary wine variety and impeccable costumer service. Their App is easy to navigate, they have good discounts and same day delivery service for free (I believe when eligible). This is our go to store in Brooklyn!
I’m so glad this place is here. I just moved nearby and love natural wines. Great selection including some of my favorite local labels, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and I feel safe going in there given their COVID precautions.
This place is a game-changer for our neighborhood! For real, they came at a crucial time at the beginning of the pandemic when we were only drinking at home! I definitely utilized their online case discount several times... Quality wines at good prices and always new ones to try. Now that I've browsed in the store a few times, the staff is always happy to give suggestions and answer questions. Can't recommend this spot enough to local wine/spirit lovers
I walk way, way out of my way to go to this store. They have a great selection of wine and liquor - though I wish the whiskey and rum selection was a little bigger. The prices are great, especially on their sales. And the staff have always been friendly and approaching. I'll keep on coming back.

Nice and helpful staff. The store has a wide selection of wines that won't disappoint. When I asked for wines that would be best for cooking a certain dish, the staff member quickly jumped in to give me his recommendations.

Super charming liquor store with a great range of options (from very affordable to high-end). The staff is always very friendly. It's a pretty small (in a good way!) store so you can easily look through the whole selection.
I love Wild Wines; it's right down the street and not only do they have a great selection, but they're super knowledgeable if you're looking for recommendations. My family was making roast beef for Christmas and asked us to bring some wine, but they only like rose. Quite a challenge to pair! But they have some great ideas, and we ended up get 3 bottles that everyone loved having for the holidays.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It’s my closest wine store - interesting selection of good value wines - but depending on who’s working it can have an unbelievably snooty vibe. Try being nicer to the customers and I’ll stop walking to Flatbush! You might change up the art for sale on the walls... Breath some new life into the place!

Great staff and selection. They helped me pick out a FANTASTIC Riesling. It was a bit more than I usually pay but worth it. When I brought it home the cork broke when I tried to open it. I brought it back and they tried to open it for me, when they couldn't they replaced my bottle AND opened it for me! Will

My favorite wine shop. Very interesting selections, very helpful and knowledgeable staff. They always steer me in the right direction. They have a large assortment at very reasonable prices. Staff is always friendly too. I have enjoyed their Croatian wines as well as wines from other off-the-beaten-path locations.
Best wine store in the 5 boroughs. Great selection of organic and sustainable wines. Not your usual selection either - a lot of small batch stuff, including liquors and great staff.
Wonderful little wine shop easily accessible on Vanderbilt. The staff was excellent and very helpful. The night I came in they were sampling 3 wines in the back, offering 10% off any you might purchase that evening. The gentleman was extremely knowledgeable about the wine.
