Tourist trap!
A lot of unrelated texts with a lot of pictures. Lack of depth, or personalised stories.. Some of the (rare) artifacts on how people tried to escape East Berlin are quite interesting, but they are only a handfull.
Low value for the extremely steep admission price. Spend your money and time wisely - go to one of the many really interesting museums in Berlin, not this one.

The iconic east side gallery is home to some very well known street art. A large open air gallery that once was the berlin wall. Is 1316 metres long and it accommodates art from 118 artists from 21 countries. It officially opened as an open air gallery on 28 September 1990. Just over a year later, it was given protected memorial status.
Trotz Feiertags schneller Einlass und entspanntes Personal. Edvard Munch war der Hauptgrund meines Besuchs. Jedoch sind hier viele, weitere sehr interessante Künstler (aus Berlin) vertreten. Es wird den Kunstinteressierten sehr viel geboten. Top!👍
More expensive than anything else in the city. The exhibition is rather ild style, can use a refresh, especially on the narrative, which is a bit absent, it is rather a sequence of stuff. Paradoxically the shop is much more modern, well lit and organized. The feeling is that the museum needs to be reformed heavily, but the contant and the memorabilia it contains are worth.
War zur Edward Munch Ausstellung (bis 22.01.24 noch zu sehen). Nun ja, ein Fan von E. Munch werde ich nach wie vor nicht. Allerdings war es interessant, in der Ausstellung einiges mehr über sein Leben und Wirken, auch in Berlin, zu erfahren. Hatte mich nie wirklich mit ihm und seinen Werken beschäftigt und wusste daher auch wenig.
Doch durch die Informationen kann ich die doch oft düsteren und auch depressiven Motive etwas mehr nachvollziehen.
Allerdings hat mich dann die ständige Ausstellung um so mehr überrascht, daher gibt es auf jeden Fall einen zweiten Besuch.
Um seinen Museumsbesuch abzurunden oder sich einstimmen zu lassen, ist auf jeden Fall das Café Dix zu empfehlen. In der warmen Jahreszeit kann man auch auf einer Terrasse den kulinarischen Angeboten frönen.

Bei jeder Berlin-Tour muss man dahin. Tolle Sonder-Ausstellungen, aber auch die dauerhafte Sammlung ist immer wieder toll. Eine Kunstreise durch das Berlin der letzten 150 Jahre. Sehr gut gemachte Audioguides unterstützen den Besuch der Ausstellungen!
The paintings are really beautiful and the wall is quite long. Be careful about the weather 😅 I think you should ideally visit this place in summer so you don’t freeze as I did
If you're visiting Berlin, skip it. It was the most expensive museum we went to at €17.50 each but it was by far the poorest. It's quite cramped, there's not much rhyme or reason to the order of all of the boards. It's a bit like they just threw in everything they possibly could, regardless of what it is. It's quite old too and doesn't look like it's been maintained very well at all. Considering the sheer amount of free and low cost museums that are far better quality, I'd recommend you give this a miss and go and see the Story Bunker or the Jewish Museum.
Went on a wet Monday evening as part of our 24 hours in Berlin. It was well lit so we didn’t miss out by visiting in the evening. Easily accessible by train.
OK it’s a tourist trap and quite expensive but they do have some interesting exhibits and certainly have a lot of details around the wall and Cold War. My only issue is that it’s a bit hiddeldy piggeldy, stuff about the 60s next to the current Ukraine conflict and then back to the 80s then something else. Needs to be in chronological order or subject matter to make sense.
In the neighborhood of Kreuzberg, few hundred meters from the well known Jewish museum, this art gallery offers an extraordinary permanent exhibition and very interesting temporary ones. I went for the Munch exhibition, which was truly interesting and moving. The space is very welcoming and the people friendly.
Historic place, one of the last pieces of the Wall of Berlin that is still in the original location. Amazing artworks from various graffiti artists.
The best part, it's open air and free to visit. Just try to arrive a bit early so that you don't have to wait in order to take pictures

fantastisches und großes museum, mit vielen ausstellungen und auch sehr viel zu sehen. die munch ausstellung war auch toll! audioguides sind auch kostenlos! waren am museumsoffenen sonntag da, weswegen es leider etwas zu voll war, da keine zeitfenstertickets ausgehändigt werden. dafür kam man aber direkt rein (ca. 18 minuten angestanden).

Immer einen Besuch Wert, ggf. ist es an Sonntagen voller. Tickets vorab sichern lohnt sich also. Man sollte aufgrund der hohen Anzahl an Exponaten mindestens 1,5 Stunden mitbringen. Dazu sind auch die Führungen sehr zu empfehlen!

Visiting the East Side Gallery was an unforgettable experience. The vibrant and thought-provoking murals displayed on remnants of the Berlin Wall were not only artistically impressive but also deeply moving. Walking along this historic landmark was a powerful reminder of the resilience and spirit of unity. A must-see for anyone interested in art, history, and the human spirit.
Musée absolument terrible. Toujours dans son jus d’il y a 30 ans. Les salles enchaînent des panneaux et des panneaux de texte en 4 langues avec une traduction française approximative. Le contenu du musée est très intéressant mais finalement achetez un bouquin sur le mur et vous pourrez le lire confortablement installé dans votre canapé plutôt que debout dans des salles de lecture sans fin. De plus le musée est vraiment cher !
Bref il y’a plein d’autres musée archi-sympa à Berlin… épargnez vous celui ci !

I was lucky enough to visit the Munch Exhibition however, I was pleasantly surprised by the aditional treats on offer.
Ticket sales and bag drops into the cloak room were quick and easy, the staff were very friendly, kind and warm.
I was quite blown away when, after viewing all that was offer from the Munch Exhibition, to stumble into an area with work from the Dada period of Berlin in the 1920s.
One of my pet things to do when visiting galleries for the first time is to not research them too much so the element of surprise is there when I do visit. You will find many other wonderful surprises here.
I spent around 2 hours admiring the Munch Exhibition and a further 2 hours looking through the rest of the gallery. To be honest, I could have spent a lot more time but was restricted due to other commitments so, my advice is to allow a good 5 hours if you truly wish to soak up all that is on offer.

It’s part of the history that worth visiting while you’re at Berlin. This place is less exciting compared to to lots of other museums that you find here. But if you had extra time, definitely go for it.

You can't miss this point of Berlin. It's very cool to see parts of what once was the Berlin eat and now see all the graffiti and beautiful views from the river. The wall museum, on the start of the strip, is all very cool and gives us a very good scope of the history of the wall. If you're visiting the museum, allow at east 2 hours for it if ou like reading all the things.
A little bit pricy (for Berlin). Payment was either via web portal (which was efficient and easy) or cash. Aesthetics were very pleasing and the staff lovely.
First place we visited following our arrival in Berlin. Roadside artwork is amazing and the otherside of the wall is for art students and the graffiti fraternity to express themselves. Probably the other undecorated parts of the wall found elsewhere in Berlin are more thought provoking though?
A nice gallery gathering several expositions at the same time. We have come for Munch one , really nicely exposed and good variety. Even if I find the price a bit of expensive, it is worth visiting.
Had high hopes of this gallery but was disappointed, the Munch exhibit all the other reviews here hyped up was boring, far oversold and too busy, and had people talking non stop. Impossible to enjoy the art and take it in when it's that crowded (Monday mid afternoon), and with tour guides and just general people chatting. The other temporary exhibit about architecture in Berlin was better with some interesting models and write up abouts buildings. The permanent exhibits were a lot more interesting with some really though provoking pieces, but there just wasn't enough of them here! Overall disappointed
Intriguing modern art exhibition. Interesting interpretations from young artists.
I made to visit this space in the middle of change of temporary exhibition. Regular display was interested about architecture of Berlin. The choice of german art was a bit less interesting for my opinion, but maybe more educational to overview development of contemporary art in Berlin. Anyway worth to visit. Outside area is also great.
A very well-curated gallery worth visiting regularly. There usually is more than one exhibition running on the ground floor and a permanent archive on the second floor.

The East Side Gallery in Berlin is like a time-traveling street art history lesson. This stretch of the Berlin Wall is covered in awesome graffiti that tells a powerful story of unity beating division. Seriously, every mural is like a punch in the feels. It's emotional, man! When you go, just know it can get crazy busy, so maybe hit it up when the crowds aren't as nuts for a more chill vibe.
Book in advance! Don’t be intimidated by the idea of a guided tour in an art gallery, it actually makes the whole experience much better. I am not an art expert but the context and story behind the art you see makes it all very interesting. Not the mention the actual brief history of the bunker which you get to hear at the start. Initially I thought that 90 min might be a bit much but in reality it was not enough. Our guide Alana was excellent.
The wall stretches a lot longer than we thought. We took time to enjoy every single graffiti so it took more than one hour to go from the other side to the other end. Lots of interesting graffitis, a lot of which imply the Cold War and historical events. Recommend to go there on a sunny day.
An amazing outside gallery surrounded by such great history. Love the East Side Gallery because there is just so much to see all for free. It’s particularly great to see so much beautiful artwork on something that used to represent something so horrific. This is something great for people of all ages to go and see, however, bare in mind, it can get very busy at times and you may not be able to see certain artwork unless you wait for a while.
Truly great place to visit. The art work on the Berlin Wall is amazing. This is a real piece of history and you can only just imagine what it was like before the wall was torn down. If you go to Berlin this is an absolute must to visit. Plus there is a nice cafe right next to it. Martha's Cafe. If it hadn't started pouring rain I would have stayed longer but I will definitely be revisiting on my next trip.
Skip it! I do not recommend this museum. If you do go, do not pay the $5 required for a picture license, it's a waste of money.

Also, the toilets they had available were poorly maintained and didn't have toilet paper. Overall, I was unimpressed.

Definitely worth a visit! They do guided tours in "presentations" which change themes and art. Tour is really interesting and has a good mix of art and history of the building. The art isn't really to my taste, I thought a lot of it was quite pedestrian, but there were a couple of cool pieces. The building itself is very cool and interesting so just being inside is worth the admission! I don't have any pics as you aren't allowed to take any. Note - you MUST book. Tour in advance. You cannot just show up
This new installation Mall of Anonymous is quite the scam unfortunately. I normally enjoy contemporary art, but 6€ for this is scandalous. Access to two rooms only.
What a great Sunday I had here. Besides hosting regular amazing exhibitions from artists globally the upper floor is also a great crash course in Berlin art history. One can easily loose themselves here for hours. The entrance process was easy, they have a baggage and coat check. The staff is friendly and they speak English. The space is easy to explore and has access to washrooms. Photography is allowed inside. On weekends the crowds show up. Overall one of my favorite Gallery experiences in Berlin
The wall has a great history in itself which anyone visiting there would be keen to know and the art done on the wall is amazing. It is so beautiful. It feels like just grab a drink and take a good amount of walk along the wall. It was a great adventure for me to see the beautiful graffiti.

Wasn't too crowded on the sunday that they were offering free tickets. The temporary exhibits were inspiring and novel. It took about 1h for me to walk through the entire gallery. It was enjoyable.

It's a long stretch of wall with a lot of different paintings present on the wall. If you go behind the walls and if you have seen some previous documentary on Berlin Wall then you can surely feel everything that would have seen. Where were the mines, the river crossing challenge etc.

FANTASTIC museum in a former bunker that houses the Boros family collection of contemporary art. The bunker was originally built in 1942 as an air raid shelter. In the 90s it was briefly a club (and shows up in some of Wolfgang Tillman's photos). Our guide was terrific in explaining the Boros' collecting philosophy. NOTE: You must book well in advance for tickets - it's only open a few days a week and only accessible with a guided tour. And finally, would have given this 5-stars were photos allowed.
Such a special place to experience art. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and continuously gave suggestions for other exhibitions to visit so we could see more of the artists' works. Great to learn about the various eras of the bunker itself, from bomb shelter to fetish club to gallery space.
It was probably the best hummus I ever tried in my life. Halloumi was also spectacular! Ok, prices are quitw high, not cheap at all, but the quality of the food was really on another level compared to what you can have in cheaper restaurants. Definitely give it a chance. It is a beautiful area. I miss Tacheles, but gentrificated Berlin can still give tasty sensations.
Very nice restaurant and the food is phenomenal. Authentic middle eastern food. Had the lamb with veggies and goat milk. Wish I ordered more. Definitely recommend!
This private collection of art was challenging for me. The building is the most interesting thing to see on this tour. Our guide for the English tour was excellent. I liked the paintings from the 1970s located on one of the upper floors. For me, I want more than the name of the artist on the floor for context. Expecting typical museum didactics in this unconventional space and art collection may be too much to ask.
Very interesting place to visit! Exhibitions change every 4 years, and all the tours are always guided, so get your tickets in advance! There’s lots of contemporary art, but the most interesting part for me was the history of the bunker itself.

A very in depth museum. There is a lot of information on the horrors of war and destruction as well as some gripping stories about life during the wall. For anyone wanting to learn about the history of the Berlin Wall this is an important place to visit.
Absolutely terrible. DON‘T EVEN THINK ABOUT GOING HERE - it‘s expensive and a rip-off: really bad food. What a disappointment.

The falafel was cold and dry, the dumplings were bland and the few crumbs of lamb meat were oily and tasteless. The only bit that tasted ok was the tablespoon-sized serving of moussaka.

Die Ausstellung "Human Is" könnte großartig sein, wenn man einfacheren Zugang zum Kontext bekommen könnte. Keine Nummern an den Ausstellungsobjekten, sehr unübersichtlicher und teils falscher Übersichtsplan, nervige pdf-Dateien, die man herunterladen muss, um dann in mühsamer Kleinarbeit (und bei schwachem Licht...) die Namen der Künstler:innen über die Zuordnung der unnumerierten Ausstellungsobjekte mit einer Nummer auf dem Papierplan mit dem Namen der Künstler:innen im pdf-Dokument zusammenzubringen. Vielen anderen Besucher:innen erging es genauso...

Sehr gemütlicher und liebevoll eingerichteter, kleiner Veranstaltungsort. Ich habe ein Konzert besucht. Platz ist für 50-60 Leute schätze ich. Gemütliche Sitzgelegenheiten an der Seite mit kleinen Tischen, kleine Bar mit angemessenen Preisen (Bier 3,50€, Cocktail 7€)

Super Konzert und tolle location
The food is of good quality, but it lacks a distinctive identity, and some of the items seemed overpriced. While some dishes were worth the price, others were not. On the other hand, the restaurant's decor is aesthetically pleasing.
Good Mediterranean restaurant in a nice Mitte neighborhood with good inside decoration. Food took quite a while to be prepared but had a good taste and quality. Also pricing was a bit weird specially for the mezza sharing plate which costed a lot more than it actually deserves (in terms of quantity and content)

This was a small museum. It was €17.50 for and adult and €9.50 for a child to get in. This price was more than the rest of our sightseeing for the day combined. There were some items related to Checkpoint Charlie and features on a few individual people. There was a good portion of the museum dedicated to new injustice in the world, including the war in Ukraine. We did not read every single display but felt we saw the whole museum in about an hour.

Eine wunderbare und extravagante Giger Ausstellung geht leider so langsam dem Ende entgegen!
Es war halt mal etwas richtig tolles anderes und Liebhaber von Sriencefiction und Aliens kommen voll auf ihre Kosten. Die Ausstellung wurde noch einmal bis zum 20. März verlängert!

Gestern zur Giger & Bellmer Ausstellung dort gewesen. Wer Bellmer nicht kennt und von Giger nur die "Alien"-Entwürfe weiß, wird vom weiten Repertoire der Künstler überrascht sein. So erstaunten uns u.a. sexualisierte zeichnerische Darstellungen. Alles verpackt auf zwei Etagen im kleinen Pavillon, mit Ostunderground-Ausstellungscharme. 6 € Eintritt, ca 30 Exponate und wenn man viel Zeit hat kann man sich "Alien I" in einem der Nebenzimmer anschauen.
Eine recht eine Galerie, aber wirklich schöne Alien Ausstellungsstücke. Der Eintritt beträgt 6€ und die Ausstellung geht über zwei Etagen. Die Toiletten sind sauber und auch vor dem Ticketkauf nutzbar.
Unfassbar gute Ausstellung, Kuratierung und Location. Ein Besuch lohnt sich immer. Freu mich auf die nächste Ausstellung.

Schöne Location wunderbare Ausstellung von Helko Reschitzki. Hat mir super gefallen! Ein Rest vom echten Berlin. Wunderbarer Hinterhof auch. Unbedingt hingehen.
Das Sommercamp von der Reingold-bar ist einen Besuch wert.
