Had a great meal here with my friends the day after completing the Lisbon Half Marathon. Amazing fish, wine and faultless service. Located in a quiet shaded garden courtyard - very nice and relaxing. Will definitely go back.
I came only for dessert and wine during dinner rush, so I waited an hour and got a seat on their staircase (has pillows on it) which was actually perfect. The restaurant was totally packed. The chocolate mousse was very unique, it had olive oil and salt on top. Delicious! And amazing red wine.
This place was amazing. The food and service were excellent. The staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was very quaint. Make sure to make reservations as this place was filled up quickly.
Stumbled onto this place and it once again shows the value of getting a bit lost in a new city. Food was amazing, service extremely nice and it caters to locals (we were the only tourists). Keep in mind they open closer to 12:00 rather that 11:30. Fresh fish that you select and they cook it for you, Salmon, Sardines and Cod all delicious. Port wine a must. Only disappointment is the owners cute dog is not allowed to wander among the tables.

One of the best shrimp with garlic dishes we’ve ever tasted. Small but quaint place, great service, kind staff and fresh, genuine food!! Highly recommend!

Very tasty food at a good price. I ate paella valenciana and my wife paella mixed - both of us were very satisfied with the food.

The grilled octopus was amazing🤩 If I have a bigger stomach, I’d love to order more dishes! They offered us a free ginja wine tasting, it was awesome, even I don’t drink alcohol usually. And the staff were very friendly, I’ll definitely visit again when I go to Lisbon👍🏻
This was our favorite meal in Lisbon. We did not have a reservation, but were greeted warmly and escorted up to the cozy loft area where we enjoyed an excellent meal with great service.
Very overpriced for the kind of food they serve. There are far better places that charges you half the price for significantly better food. The portions were big and dishes for 2 could be eaten by at least 6. The server could have warned us about our order which he didn’t. Seafood Rice was decent
The quality of the food is great. The only thing I didn't like is the seafood paella is too salty for me.
I had seafood soup and grilled octopus. They were very tasty. The seafood soup has 1 prawn and 1 mussel in it and it’s very delicious. Grilled octopus comes with some vegetables and potatoes and it’s a good portion size. I would go there again.
What a fantastic find. Great atmosphere and staff and absolutely delicious food and a lovely choice of wines. Definitely worth a visit - though you may need to book or go early in the evening. It’s very popular.

Had dinner on the first day in Lisboa. We didn't make a reservation so waited about 15mins but it was okay. Many tourists visited there so it looked very famous in that area.

Decent .. was staying at Art inn nearby so went for a late evening dessert. Pleasant. The chocolate cake was amazing and I’m not even a chocolate fan
We had a really nice experience in this cosy restaurant. The service was excellent, atmosphere was nice and the food was very good. I recommend the meagre and also for starter the octopus with potatoes. My friends had some meat dishes which were also very nice. Highly recommend :)

Went there for a dinner. Nice hidden gem. Food could be better. Had rabbit and beef for a child. Rabbit bit red inside and beef loats of grease. Its familly business and I think they can cook better.

I'm sad to say that...food was really nice, hence 4 stars, and we were making plans to go back to this restaurant whilst enjoying our dinner.
Sadly...when the bill arrived things were added and prices were inflated. Then the waiter called Simon started arguing with us over every euro.
We both have good memory and were not drunk, so perfectly able to realise that we were being scammed.
We will not be back.

Satisfactory food, although the prices are somewhat excessive for Portugal, considering the quality of the products. Upon our arrival, the reception was very impersonal despite my prior reservation, with an outdoor wait in the rain. No initiative was taken to temporarily seat me in the entrance while waiting for my table to become available. Once seated, we noticed that our table was positioned near a cabinet housing the electrical panel, which unfortunately caused several disruptions throughout the evening.
Despite these incidents, our understanding led to our collaboration with the staff to resolve the electrical issues. However, after these inconveniences, we hoped for appropriate compensation. Nevertheless, no form of compensation such as coffee, dessert, or even a digestive was offered by the establishment. The apologies presented proved inadequate. Furthermore, at the time of payment, I had to personally take charge of the payment terminal, as the waitress was unable to do so.
In summary, I do not recommend this restaurant if you are seeking attentive service. Even some fast-food establishments in Switzerland offer better customer service.

The food and service here was excellent! Their attention to detail is admirable. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to on my trip to Portugal. The chicken was so juicy and full of flavour. The fish was perfectly salty and crispy! The local port wine that the server recommended was also really good! It was some sort of white wine made with green grapes - very refreshing and smooth. The ambience of the restaurant was also very nice. Quite charming!
We enjoyed our dinner here and would definitely come back. It’s a cool little spot that doesn’t feel too touristy. Skip the octopus and the desert. The service was pretty good and the atmosphere in the back room was great.

In general, I liked my dining experience here. They have good quality ingredients, nice combinations of flavors and good execution. I ordered two small, plates, an entree and dessert. The grilled vegetables and cheese were delicious (first small plate), but the octopus was unfortunately very rubbery and tough when it’s supposed to be soft and tender. The highlight for me was the main course of roasted pork neck, celery and grapefruit. The meat was perfect and the celery puree was a nice combination, with enough acidity to balance the meat. The chocolate mousse with olive oil and salt was a very good ending to the meal. Even though it’s not the traditional Portuguese chocolate mousse, it’s not too sweet and very smooth, almost like a pudding.
A very good restaurant with very good quality food and excellent service. It was a pity that we found this restaurant on our last day of a week holiday in lisbon. We could have spent the whole week in this restaurant. Actually, this is the only few restaurants in lisbon that when they give you the bill, it is the same price of the menu,as other restaurants are mostly a tourist trap. Highly recommended.
Hi, another guy tried to be scammed by this restaurant. I ordered an 8.90 dish and wine and water and when I asked for the bill they said 19 euros. I asked for the bill to review and they charged for things that I didn't consume to reach 18.40 euros (not 19 that was an amount clearly invented). I asked for the correction but still they insisted on getting 3.90 for a glass of wine when it was 1.60 saying that it was a 'big glass'

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here! Waited over 30 minutes for a table (arrived at 2:30) but we were happy to do so.

We actually stayed in an apartment above this restaurant. At first we thought we could just grab a quick bite but actually the food was shockingly amazing. We ordered their octopus salad, crispy shrimp, grilled sardines and grilled octopus. We ate here twice and will definitely come back and will recommend to our friends and colleagues if they visit Lisbon. A special mention to the staff who were all really friendly (which redeemed Lisbon from a bad experience we had in a famous peri peri chicken place 😅). This restaurant deserves a 5 star. The dishes were very authentic, fresh, well-seasoned and not overpriced. Hats off to the chef, the owner and to all the staff.

The best salmon I've ever had!! Grilled to perfection. Not touristy at all. The waiter was so friendly. Amazing experience in Lisbon. Could not recommend more!!

The staff here are truly a delight, greeting and serving with pleasantness that adds to the overall warmth of the place.
The menu was a delightful journey, boasting a selection of delicious dishes that were complemented by an admirable selection of wines. The service was commendably swift, ensuring that there was little waiting time before I could dive into the meal.
However, every new experience has its learning curves, and here's what I think could be better. The establishment is currently operating on a 'cash only' basis, which was made clear right at the entrance. A bit of a heads up for those who are used to carrying just plastic. While I enjoyed the Bacalhau a Bras, I found some pieces of the fish excessively salty, which did disrupt the flavor balance. Additionally, a minor yet notable point, the plate served was not preheated. This meant that the food cooled down quicker than one might prefer, taking away from the otherwise enjoyable dish.
In summary, my lunch was a mixture of delightful flavors and charming service, set back slightly by a few practical shortcomings.

Stunning! The old world decor alone is enough to visit. Ordered 4 cheese fettuccine and lime risotto with prawns = both delicious! Wine pairing was perfect. The hostess Valentine was very knowledgeable and gracious! A must do around Alfalma Lisbon area.
Tourist trap. Waiting for food for 30min+ when the restaurant is not full at all. Food not great, Portuguese steak was not chewable, meat texture too hard, cooked too raw (never asked for how do we like to cook)

And enjoyable little restaurant just down the hill from the museum which was a nice stop for lunch. The food was good the service was good overall I tried the cod fish bras for the first time and it just needed some lime or spice in which resulted in my four stars. The melon with ham is not quite like Italy they use a different melon and the prosciutto taste different but it was still good.

Be prepared to get on their waitlist for dinner, but the wait is guaranteed worth it. They accept cash payment only - not to worry as there is ATM nearby.

We technically ordered everything on the board and too bad that we r travelling from London and Sydney and we didn’t bring enough Euros to reorder some of the food that we like as they accept cash only!

By far the best food in Lisbon, prices are very reasonable too. Menu is short, dishes are unique like the outstanding shredded oxtail with pear puree.

This restaurant was absolutely fantastic in every way. Upon entering, I felt like I was entering the garden of Eden. Beautiful greenery, fantastic atmosphere, incredible and very fresh food! The service was impeccable and we were recommended by our incredible waiter Hugo the best dishes to make the experience even better! Say hi to Kiko if you're there :)This place is truly a unique and one of a kind experience!
Really good restaurant. Tends to be very crowded so reservation is recommended. They got a second floor (small stairs) but still is very crowded. Friendly staff and fast service. Average prices and big food portions. The seafood rice was great, really recommended. Credit cards accepted.
Excellent place with really good and friendly service. The food is delicious, I got the risotto with prawns and it was fantastic and the person with me took the octopus plate with fresh vegetables which was also excellent. The area is super nice, and the restaurant gives you the traditional air of Lisbon. Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to eat well!
We were here twice during the Web Summit. The price-performance ratio is mega, the food is great, authentic and huge praise to the team, whether in the kitchen or with the service, it's a pleasure to watch. We'll be back next year at the latest. Thank you for having us here.
We had early lunch in the Restaurant. Very friedly and smart dressed waiters and very nice desks. the good was delicious. Price was los for the quality and ambiente.
The environment is extremely nice, the restaurant itself is very pretty. With our group of friends we tried a lot of things and for every dish the flavors and textures were amazing. Another random detail that I really liked is that inside the restaurant (at least where we were sitting), the phone connection was basically nonexistent, which is a good excuse not to look at the phone. Definitely a place to come back to. Highly suggested!!
We had lunch here on our first day in Lisbon. It turns out to be one of the best meals we had in Lisbon after eating out for a week. The pumpkin soup was smooth and tasty. Codfish and octopus were some of the best. It’s even better than the Duque down the block.
We really enjoyed our meal and service here. We were three and we got the octopus, the fried cod with chips and the cod cakes on rice. Everything was yummy and our server was very accommodating. We sat outside and they made sure they had the heat going so we were comfortable. The portions were large and we were stuffed by the end of our meal. Would recommend what we tried and we would definitely be back.

We were walking by and saw their seafood display in the window. Fish was extremely fresh. Not sure if we got lucky on delivery day or they always get the fresh catch daily. Sardines, jamon iberico and local cheese. Amazing. Service was perfect. Owner came by later and welcomed us to "our" house. Loved it.

Nous avons refusé et étions prêts à revenir un autre jour mais ils ont insisté pour que nous restions et après une 15 aine de minutes d’attente dans la pizzeria, une place s’est libérée dans le restaurant principal (on nous avait promis un porto pour patienter mais nous n’avons rien reçu in fine). Nous avons opté pour la dégustation de porto en apéritif (très cher pour 4 minis verres) avec une planche de fromages charcuterie. Les plats étaient bons.

Rayhan, our server, was great and very attentive to us. We ordered the codfish, Portuguese steak and carbonara. Everything was delicious and servings were huge. Reasonable price as well!
Food was not the best but I was just happy I could eat something on our first night in Lisbon on 15th August. The kitchen was about to close and we ordered the octopus salad and a bacalhau dish + a Tinto because they didn’t have Sangria anymore. The drink tasted like soap though. The waitress paid attention to us and made sure we were alright.
If you want to have a local experience, this is the place. The waiter was really friendly and helpful even though he didn‘t speak English.

Creamy omelet, juicy mushrooms, sweet cherry tomato and salty bacon. Fresh orange juice and an expresso. Perfect start to a morning. So good!
This was the first place we stopped to eat during our visit to Lisbon and it was randomly chosen because we were hungry and it was there. My wife ordered two appetizers ("Chicken, Beer & Citrus," and "Zucchini, Aubergine & Cheese") and combined them to create an entree she was thrilled with. The flavors and textures were on point, and the atmosphere was great. Here are pictures of their menu (as of October 2023).
We picked up this restaurant with the only reason it's the first left of the row of restaurants in this street. It turned out we were very joyful with the food (delicious), the price (reasonable), and the atmosphere (quiet and warm). Their service is courteous too. We were back the second time few days later (tired to search another one among so many restaurants there). You won't be disappointed to eat there.
Awful experience. Steak was tough, unable to cut it - left the lot. Caprese salad 😂😂😂 don’t bother, you get a lot of tomato and not much else. However, the two basil leaves were very fresh and tasty. Sardines uncooked in centre and bloody. Seriously, don’t bother. Apart from the basil this place has no redeeming features.
The food is not good at all, I ordered steak and cod fish cake as a main, we could not finish them. However the octopus salad is great 👍🏽! The sangria would only offer a 1.5l choice which is too much for two persons, very rigid. It would be better if they can allow us to order a glass or two.
Wonderful wonderful experience! Food was delicious and generous portions for a VERY low price. We paid 15 euros for two massive plates, with water and soda.

Just got to Lisbon and our hotel gave us a few recommendations for food nearby. Taberna de Bauxa was one of them and we chose this one last night because it was the closest. HOLY MOLY!! This was a great choice! The bread served on the basket we ordered was so good but I had to stop so I may enjoy my entree.

I ordered the mushroom risotto and my son had the arroz de mariscos. My risotto was creamy, delicious and hot (temp). My son really enjoyed the rice with the seafood. I took one now and was glad I had the risotto instead.
The place is very quaint and the service is great!! The cherry liquor/liqueur at the end of our meal was perfect!! I recommend this place to try authentic foods. 👌

Caprese salad was a complete joke. Apparently they were out of mozzarella cheese but as I read other reviews they like to always put tiny squares of feta on their tomatoes. Should’ve known then to leave. Cod cakes, cheese, bread, olives appear out of no where and we’re not ordered as they lure you in with low prices and hammer you with all these garbage extras. Would not recommend! Sneaky staff throughout the entire restaurant.
My family and I are in town for my wedding, and we stumbled upon this gem in Lisbon! Food was absolutely incredible. Fresh, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious!!!! The service was outstanding - a big thank you to Viktor for making our evening so special. We are in Portugal for one week, and have already agreed we will be returning for another meal here before we leave. Highly recommend! =)
The restaurant was beautiful. We did a reservation before and it was worth it. All the waiters have such a nice energy, and even though they spoke Portuguese, you could communicate with them. We decided to go to the restaurant after multiple people told us to visit during our trip and they were right about it being a beautiful and delicious experience. We were even introduced by our waiter Joy to the chef Jose. The chef was super nice and we ended up talking for up to 30 minutes just about his experience in the restaurant industry and how much he cares for the restaurant in the end would recommend and it’s a must go it Lisbon.

This place is gross. The smell of mold in this place. Besides that the bathrooms and showers are discusting to the point you're afraid of even using them! The lady who welcomed us in the beginning said there would be cleaning service but yet to see someone pass through it has been 3 nights now. Ugh! Stay away!!

We visited this place based on a recommendation. The setting is lovely, colorful and idyllic, the best qualities Alfama has to offer. They sat us down quickly even though they were busy. Unfortunately, there were only 2 servers working. Both gentleman were continuously in motion, taking care of clientele needs. However, after taking an order, it took one hour before food was received. If you have a drink and finish it beforehand, good luck stopping someone to get more drink. They are hustling with food service taking menu of other tables. The service staff spoke very basic English. Once the food came out, although edible and not offensive, it certainly required seasoning. A pinch of salt and pepper would have gone a long way. At least, the setting offered a pleasant space to visit, but the wait, food and price did not align. I do believe that it's worth a visit if you are not in any hurry. It took us 2 hours from arrival to departure. There are other restaurants with tastier foods and faster service just around the corner.

Wasn't a fan. Grilled sardines were not up to par with other restaurants. Indifferent wait staff, which is OK by me if the foods great. That said the salads looked very nice. My mixed salad was very good. The kababs were OK but pretty tough meat. The atmosphere is very nice and the beer was cold.

My boyfriend and I went there during our holiday. I chose Spaghetti with vegetables - on the picture they looked good, with zuchini and peppers and some sort of sauce/oil. The plate I received was something completely different. The topping was a black hair from the cook. The spaghettis were without any sauce or spices, just plain with no taste. And instead of fresh pepper or zuchini they just put a can of peas and corn on it. Just like a meal a 5year old would "cook". It was my worst experience in a restaurant so far and I regret that I didn't read the review BEFORE.
Wonderful, cozy family-owned restaurant that offers great lunch at very reasonable prices in Alfama, close to Sta Apolonia and the Panteon. Rute will soon learn your name making you feel part of the family. Could not recommend it more heartily!

Surprisingly my meal and experience at this restaurant were excellent. I am the person who always checks google before I go to any restaurant. In this case I was just passing by and thinking about fried sardines. You can imagine my surprise when I came in and looked at google reviews. So , promoter was very friendly and honest. Sardines were perfect and exactly as I expected. I waited for the bill before writing review and it’s exactly as promised without any tip added. Promoter was very accommodating and gave me good price for the dish and suggested good economical wine. So overall , don’t pass by and take a chance. It is usual traditional restaurant with nothing exceptional I guess. Owner could improve it by removing extra lighting , instead of Tv , putting music inside and out , put some candles and here you go , much better. I guess those people who use google to see reviews won’t sfo to this place and they will never get the rating better even if something has changed.
Super fresh grilled fish with few type of fish to choose. Grilled perfectly and taste the freshness. The melon is so amazing. Must try.
Everything we ordered was pretty average, with some highs: the shrimp soup was ok, seniorito paella was tasty and the mixed grill of fish was really good, made with a variety of fish and cooked well. The staff was attentive and stopped by often to make sure we were satisfied. We really didn’t like that we had to pay for the bread and the olives that were simply placed on our table, as appetizers, we’d had preferred we ordered them.
