A brilliant find. Off the Lanes. You maybe put off with the position of the restaurant, but once inside everything changes. Waiter first class, food amazing, cocktails and wine excellent. This will be my restaurant of choice when I visit Brighton from now on.

Sat outside in one of the last sunny days. The squid starter & bread was excellent. The Bouillabaisse didn’t really have enough depth of flavour but the seafood was well cooked. The chicken mustard main was very tasty. Wine reasonably priced… all in all very enjoyable

First time going and it’s lovely there! Even though it’s supposed to be summer, it was quite chilly when sitting out in the courtyard so we had the heater on and it was lovely! The food was super tasty and the waitress was very helpful and positive. The only improvement I would suggest would be to have a mesh divider between the courtyard and the taxi tank side as it was a bit noisy and distracting.

This place gets very busy so book ahead.
Lovely staff super friendly.
Menu pretty much what you expect for a good brunch venue.
Good feel to the place
This cafe is a comfortable spot for working, thanks to its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. However, I wouldn't recommend the coffee and croissant. ⚘️
Coffee and croissant cost = 6.60

Ordered the scrambled eggs and salmon, this came as tinned salmon mixed in with eggs rather than slices of smoked salmon on the side as is usual (and what I’ve had at this cafe before). Charging £10 for cheap, tasteless tinned salmon and eggs seems a rip off

Love this cafe. The quality of breakfast we had here was second to none. Rustic and tasty. Relaxed vibe. We'll definitely be back. x
Nice little slightly hidden cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Good coffee and cake, what more do you want? 😂

Absolutely amazing. Literally everyone is so nice there and very welcoming. I went with my friends and had such a lovely time thanks to the beautiful staff. And the food was delicious. It's my new go-to. I love eating breakfast in the afternoons.
Best breakfast i’ve had in a while. The scrambled eggs were perfectly seasoned and the bread was so fresh. Would recommend booking at the weekend as it gets busy

Food was great, staff were friendly even though rushed off their feet.
Inside was very loud and warm, so we chose to sit outside.

Brunch with a mate after a tennis session- so was hungry. Service from the waiters/waitresses was brilliant, the food was well cooked and tasted good. Only slight negative was it took about 30 minutes to come out, but they were busy. Would come again!
Must visit and must try and very expensive.

This restaurant has been on our list for Brighton and it didn’t disappoint.

Couldn’t reserve the table, but got a table in 15mins.

We have tried Pancakes with Berries and maple syrup and fried chicken rancheros.
The strange combination worked really well.

Coffee for some reason was served lukewarm and amber juice is very well made.

Worst Caesar salad I’ve ever ordered. You couldn’t taste the dressing at all. The chicken was slightly burnt and it took 40 minutes to come out of the kitchen. The service wasn’t great we were seated upstairs and they would take forever to get your orders and they never even checked with us if the food was okay. My friends had the chicken muffin which actually tasted amazing. But the salad was so bad really do not understand how they could serve in was so tasteless.
I love the Breakfast Club but this visit wasn't as lovely as usual. The restaurant is quite dark, we stayed at a booth at the back. And it took us over an hour to get food... Food seemed smaller portions than previous visits. Tasty anyway. I think there was some problem with the kitchen which made the whole hen do brunch quite disappointing.

Nevertheless, 10/10 for the staff for their brilliant and understanding customer service. The Irish guy deserves the employee award - thank you very much for sorting things out and the huge discount to compensate for the wait.

A great cafe with fresh smoothies and delicious breakfast!! Service was quick, would definitely recommend!!
Very nice interior and atmosphere, friendly staff and quick service. I was served with very tasty and delicious bouillabaisse, highly recommend.
Removing two stars for the cocktail - it was so watery and alcohol zero-ish that should be named Waterol, not Aperol.

A nice simple cafe, offering basic but wholesome food with a nice selection of drinks and smoothies. Recommended due to the welcoming and pleasant atmosphere with lovely staff.
My partner and I came here 3 nights ago to celebrate our 6th anniversary, and it ended up being one of the best meals we have ever had. Being huge lovers of steakhouse restaurants, we agreed this is definitely in our top 3!

We started out with the pork belly starters and shared the truffle arancini. The pork belly melted in the mouth, and the truffle arancini was just perfect! My partner is Italian, so she was extremely impressed with the truffle arancini.

I had the sirloin steak with triple cooked chips.... incredible! The steak was no chewy at all and was just delicious, to be honest. Triple cooked chips are my absolute favourite, and these ones were again... spot on!

They even brought out mini desserts for us to say happy anniversary. Very nice touch there.

Overall, we were very impressed with everything, and if we ever visited Brighton again, we would not hesitate to visit this restaurant again!

Great local place for coffee and the cafe is beautifully done out. Staff are lovely.
The food was amazing. The service was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing. This was great place to finish off our trip to Brighton. For anyone that loves steaks I would highly recommend checking this place out!! Also the onion rings and meringue pudding was delicious!

Food was good you won’t regret your morning brunch here.
However, there’s always long queue so it’s always best you book your number whilst take stroll nearby and come back when your number is being called.
It’s a breakfast place so the crowd is always full and loud. If you are with kids hopefully this would be a claustrophobic for them or for you to manage them here.

For friends group and couple probably the good place to eat and enjoy your time.

Price I think it’s on the mid to upper range but since the portions are good size I am mostly fine by trading off there.

Had breakfast here for the first time today and it was excellent, as a coeliac it’s not always easy to find places that cater well to dietary requirements but almost everything could be made gluten free! It’s also a peanut free zone, so safe for those with peanut allergies!

I had the eggs royale with hash browns on the side. Portion size was perfect and the gluten free sourdough toast was delicious.

Will definitely be back on our next trip to Brighton!

I used to come to Lost in the Lanes loads for a coffee and cake. Love the new layout/vibe. Food was absolutely delicious - what I had was simple but so tasty. First waitress we had was a little salty, perhaps a bad day, but didn’t seem like they wanted to be there! Second was delightful - very helpful and speedy.
The food was superb. The service was attentive but not over bearing.
The only thing in my opinion is the decor is looking a bit tired. Example, the table tops have, in their current condition, seen better days. In my opinion there's a little too shabby in the shabby chic look.
However, I came to try your food and very glad I did. It really was excellent and all served with a smile by your friendly staff.

The atmosphere and music playlist were amazing. The mugs and plates were also very well-chosen! Only thing we didn't like was the haddock chowder as it was too salty. I would have also preferred the potato to be blended than chunky as it is

New to Lost in the lanes, very happy I chose this place to celebrate with my mum for an early Mother’s Day lunch.

Busy, and vibrant yet comfortable and friendly.

Food and drink options are great, we opted for the:

ROASTED CAULIFLOWER £16
Hummus, salsa verde, golden sultana, flat bread (v,veo, ngo)

SQUASH & SAGE RISOTTO £16
Brown butter (veo)

Drinks:
Turmeric vanilla oat latte & an apple juice.

Reasonably priced and tasty.

Highly recommend booking in advance as extremely busy and popular, today the queues leading outside.

I visited there with my friend on 4 March. Although English is our second language, the staff is friendly and patient in helping us order meals. After eating the meal, my friend told me that the pancakes in there were the most delicious ones she had ever eaten in her life. We both like the food provided there. Moreover, the toilets are very clean. Highly recommended!

It is a cozy little restaurant with delicious food. I had the Sunday roast and was very yummy. English food with a French flair. The meat was tender, crispy roasted potato, perfectly roasted carrots and crunchy steamed green beans and the icing on cake was the gravy. The pint of beer was excellent.
Highly recommend. Lovely coffee and food place. Customer service was faultless and the decor and atmosphere cosy and trendy. Food and coffee was really good and amazing smashed avocado with the veggie brekkie. 🥑
Four of us went to the Coal Shed for lunch last Sunday and we were all really pleased with our orders. We shared the arancini and sourdough (with amazing butter). Two of us shared the amazing Sunday roast - grilled steak with roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and cauliflower cheese. One of the nicest Sunday roasts I’ve ever seen and I liked that it was a massive perfectly grilled steak rather than standard roast beef. I had the burrata followed by the grilled cod. Excellent food and great service… do book in advance though. We managed to reserve the last available table and did see a couple of groups turned away at the door who tried their luck without a ressie.

We ordered 2 English breakfast and and the first they don't do sausages next where told that toast came with it but got lightly toasted cibatta, next scrambled eggs came in chunks, the bacon was over cooked and and the tomatoes had oregano sprinkled all over and over powering the flavour, mushrooms where hard, with a pot of tea for 2 it came to £30.00,.
The worse breakfast we have ever had at a highly inflated price, think you need to be trained and look at your prices as we usually get a better breakfast with more ingredients and cooked properly for below £20.00 for 2.
Needless to say we won't be revisiting again

I love this coffee shop! Such a hidden gem in Brighton. Firstly it has wifi! The food is 10/10 and affordable, the coffee is good too! It is quite a big space too which is nice, they have a garden and an outside seating area if you want to smoke. The staff is great and polite. Everything is nice and clean, and you can serve yourself with water which is a very thoughtful idea! I love coming here to work.

A busy, atmospheric escape true to its name with friendly and welcoming staff. I'm now addicted to their avocado toast and turmeric latte much to my surprise and despite my own resistance haha.

Their sweet treats are fresh and delicious and you won't regret anything you eat here. I've had repeat visits and consistently positive experiences here and even when it's busy, there is a quiet corner to be found and if not, the staff are genuinely apologetic and suggest or try and find ways to make space for you.

Absolutely love this space and definitely my go to favourite in Brighton.
Went here for our anniversary and every part of the experience was perfect! The food was cooked to perfection, the staff were so lovely and helpful from beginning to end and I really cannot recommend the steaks here enough. Will be returning some day simply due to the lovely service and great food. Solid recommendation if you're looking for steak in Brighton with a nice atmosphere that is isn't so sophisticated you feel awkward just being there, but classy enough you know you're in for a exceptional time.

Pancakes were amazing. I’m very picky about breakfast but will come here again. Syrup was great too. Strawberry matcha could’ve been bigger but it was good too. Went through it too fast. Good amount of food.
Beautiful steak , stunning starter.. food was spot on. Fillet steak cooked to perfection. Only thing I would say is more range on soft drinks if people cannot drink booze. Maybe like sugar free soft drinks. Xx

Yummy brunch! Good service and buzzy atmosphere. Ordered the ham hock which was delicious and the shakshuka which was also very tasty. Also ordered a juice, tea, and fresh mint tea. Went there at 2pm on a Saturday for all day brunch and they had a table. They charge an additional fee for gluten free options :(
What a fab evening in any possible way! The food was excellent, made with love, fine ingredients and nicely presented. The cocktails were delicious and a tasty surprise. The service was flawless and the upper room was very cosy and relaxed. It is definitely my favourite place to eat in Brighton.
Lovely restaurant, although hard to spot it - there's a sign mostly hidden near an alleyway on the right pointing you there.

Staff really friendly, service really quick, and the food was excellent. Value for money is really reasonable, too. Would definitely come back.
Went here recently for date night and the food continues to be phenomenal. Service was absolutely amazing and staff were kind and engaging. They were also kind enough to make me a non alcoholic cocktail that was off menu.

Everything tasted quality and the triple cooked chips are to die for! The miso chicken starter was impeccable!

Amazing breakfast. Great coffee. The ginger apple shot was yummm. Highly recommend the Ham hock ..it was insane! The Shakshuka was great ...a little spicy but we like that. Very attentive staff ...let me change my order upon temporary indecision. There is too much to choose from on the menu. Dogs allowed outside. ❤️ Highly recommend. I can see why it won 'best brunch' in the BRAVO awards.

I'd have to rate this place a 9/10, hence why I can't give it 5 stars. The food was outstanding, could not pick fault with it. The crab platter and the starters of mackerel and lobster ravioli and bisque were incredible! Service was very prompt and not overbearing. I did feel that the wine prices and £11.50 for a miniscule cocktail, which did taste nice, were too much. That's the only thing that denies this place the 10/10 given we spent nearly £100 per head.
Well located by the Brighton Zip Wire you can choose to sit upstairs or downstairs. Upstairs you definitely get a better view particularly on a sunny day and you can enjoy your fish and chips without fear of interruption from your local seagulls. Service is friendly and prompt, fish and chips a little on the prices side but I guess it is Brighton!!

Cosy little restaurant with beautiful decor and a calm, ambient atmosphere. The manager Zoe was very attentive and welcoming and did a fantastic job explaining the menu. The sourdough bread with lobster butter was an amazing starter. For mains we ordered grilled brill and it was fresh and delicious, this also came with sides of the garlicky potatoes and pea salad which were also top notch. We celebrated our mum's birthday here and brought our own cake, which they kindly kept for us until the end of the meal. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend.

To say this place was a huge disappointment is putting it very lightly! I don’t know where to start first.

The service bar one waitress & barman was ATROCIOUS. The waiter that brought us to the table clearly did not want to be there.

We ordered the seafood platter for one which was £32 and it literally was a few things thrown onto a plate. We could have done the same thing at home. The oysters were very skinny and unfortunately we had to mention them to the waitress.

What ensued was disgusting. The initial waitress was very polite and offered an alternative scallops for the oysters. We offered for her to take the oysters back but she didn’t.
In the next few minutes we were approached by 2 waitresses, an older and younger blonde ladies. I would hazard a guess and say they were mother and daughter and owned the restaurant. The young woman was extremely rude and proceeded to rudely explain to us why the oysters were this way. She did offer the same exchange of scallops for the oysters and actually took the oysters away from the plate. Then the older woman also explained the same thing but in a calmer manner. This was completely unnecessary as the first waitress had already done the same thing. We were pretty shocked with this treatment.

It was my mothers birthday and the day before we went in person to confirm the booking and they had said that they had tagged it was my mothers birthday and asked for her name. Being in the hospitality business myself I would assume they were going to do some gesture to celebrate this. As the meal ended there was no mention of the birthday, even to ask if we wanted to get a dessert to mark the occasion - charged of course.

When we got the bill they had added 12.5% service charge. What a joke!!

I have been to Riddles before and the experience was so much better. It’s literally next door and they also have one in the town. If you’re after a good seafood meal and service go to Riddles and steer way clear of this place!!!

Wanted to fill the little one up before we left her at Uni. Saw good reviews for this place, and so pleased we went. The food came out pretty quickly even though they were really busy.

Had to queue for 10 mins to be seated, but just meant we could browse the food they were dropping off at the tables to decide what to have. Beautifully poached eggs and the smashed peas with kale tasted amazing. Oh and the hash browns .... they were amazing. Looking forward to coming back soon.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Copper Clam restaurant, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles from the staff, and I knew right away that I was in for a treat.

First and foremost, the food at Copper Clam was simply outstanding. As their name suggests, they specialize in seafood, and I could tell right away that they only use the freshest ingredients in all of their dishes. I started with the mussels, and it was rich, velvety, and packed with flavor. The shellfish platter that followed were arguably the best I've ever had. I must say that the Copper Clam truly excelled in this department. As someone who has had their fair share of seafood over the years, I can confidently say that the oysters, clams, and mussels were among the freshest and most delicious that I've ever had. I could tell right away that they were carefully sourced and handled, and it made all the difference in the world.

Of course, great food is only part of the equation when it comes to dining out, and I'm happy to report that the service at Copper Clam was equally impressive. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and always had a smile on her face. She made excellent recommendations and was happy to answer any questions that we had. The rest of the staff was also friendly and accommodating, and I could tell that they all took great pride in their work.

In summary, if you're looking for outstanding food, fresh and delicious shellfish, and impeccable service, look no further than the Copper Clam restaurant. I have no doubt that it will quickly become a favorite of anyone who gives it a try, and I can't wait to go back myself. So, if you want to have a memorable seafood dining experience, the Copper Clam restaurant should definitely be on the top of your list.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Service was spotless. The range of drinks was small and overly priced for the size and selection. The food was good, but the portion size was tiny. If something is of a more ‘Al dente’ presentation, I’d expect the quality to be much higher.

The worst fish and chips we found in the UK. I visited many places eating the most traditional British food and could not believe they are there for more than 60 years in an amazing area selling a normal fish as being large and I’ve never seen so much oil on fish and chips.

Amazing meal. The level of service was sublime. Our waiters knowledge for both the food and drink he was serving was excellent. Staff we all extremely courteous. The selection of seafood was particularly good and its matched. Great location on the seafront. Oysters to start which were small but tasty and great Bloody Mary’s. We all went for the “Sharing Sunday” menu which is basically surf n turf. Really enjoyed the asparagus salad. Steak was nicely cooked although a bit under seasoned. Pea & broad bean salad was tasty but the crispy potatoes were okay. Needed a bit more cooking. Wish the seafood portion was more generous as it was only one prawn and scallop each. Had a bite of the Eton mess which was very tasty. We had two bottles of wine. Really friendly staff. I’d like to go again and try more seafood options.

£4.50 For a quite small portion of chips is ridiculous, they were hardly cooked it felt like eating a raw potato, they did not wrap it even when we asked for it to be wrapped 50p for frankly a tiny sachet of sauce the environment was shocking and it looked dirty the staff was rude and dismissive the vinegar was not nice and they did not ask if we wanted any and put it on ourselves the staff did not even look like they wanted to be there. I am appalled and it ruined the day in Brighton.

Do not i repeat do not buy any chips from this place. 4.50 for a box of rotten cooked frozen chips and quite obviously cooked twice. We had to through nearly 2 full boxes away. It’s the takeaway next door to the Burger King on the seafront Brighton. There’s another fish and chip shop on the corner which looks a million times better

Reasonable standard but for the size of portion very expensive 15 quid plus for large cod chips and a can the fish was nowhere near large and chip portion could have been bigger especially for the price. Nice people though served quickly food was hot and decent enough.

Had an excellent lunch on the seafront with a gin and tonic, would recommend to anything that likes seafood
Dismayed with the terrible customer service provided in this shop.

Stopped with my partner to grab a quick fish and chips, and the server was extremely rude, handling me the credit card machine while I was still ordering.

I was provided with an extremely hot can of drink, which wasn’t drinkable considering the weather, so I gave it back and he returned me in cash.

Overall, terrible customer service! Never again! Won’t even recommend such place.

Had a lovely seaside meal here, the monk fish tasted divine, as did the lobster roll starter. My only note would be the portion sizes. Service was great, didn’t catch our waitresses name but she was very friendly and answered all of our questions. Will deffo come back when next in Brighton.
We didn't have food, just drinks. Great location with beautiful views across the beech. Reasonable prices, great on a crazy, sunny Saturday afternoon 😎.

Disgusting, undercooked chips for a disgusting, overcooked price. The chips were hard, pale, and cost £4.50 for less than a cone, coupled with less than a cupful of green sludge that was apparently "mushy peas". This place was never the best chippy in Brighton, but it never used to be this bad. Avoid like the plague (which given the state of the place, you may well catch if you go inside).
Lovely rooftop with great views
Overall, prices are in line with competitors. £11 for fish and chips and 10 for chicken burger with chips.
That being said, I wouldn't recommend the chicken burger as the bun was ice cold, and there's no sauce inside.
My wife said the fish was a bit oily but overall ok. Not the best fish and chips but, not the worst either.
I didn't receive my order. People who ordered much later than me received their orders. I reminded them twice and still nothing. In the end, I gave up. I don't recommend it!!!!

I need to edit my review due to the response from the owner, which was not what I expected for £20. What did I expect for £20? I'll tell you. For £20, I expected normal service. Primarily, just normal service. And since you treat customers this way, I believe you shouldn't run such a business. It doesn't matter if I spent £20 or even £1. I was your customer. And I believe I should have been served according to standards, not treated this way. No regards, and still not recommending...

Cute bar with a nice sea view. There are not a lot of food choices. Fish and chips were fine, though the seafood platter was a bit too oily. There were no cocktails on the menu.

Great fish menu and nice service. The view is great. Preparing took a while but the taste was worth it.
Really good fish and chips with a lovely view and great music. Staff were really helpful as we decided to move tables, so our food came to the correct one.

The worst fish and chips I've ever had.

Chips were stale and Luke warm. Fish had no real taste. Bones present in the fish.

Also order 2 kids fish and chips this was just a fish chopped in half and split between 2.

This is not a true representation of British seaside fish and chips

We couldn't ask for a better dinning experience here at Murmur!! The flavour is great, I wish the rest of the UK fish & chips taste as good as the crispy cod in Murmur's tacos. The service is excellent. The place give out such chill vibe. Definitely reckon this restaurant.

Personally I think this is the best Fish and Chip shop in Brighton, on the seafront. I have had fish and chips on this site since I was a child. Small but they will do what they can to squeeze you in. Once seated, very quick to get your order and before you blink the food will be at the table. Lovely fresh fish nice chips and you can add lashings of vinegar. Overall a very pleasant place to eat. No frills just good food

Really lovely independent coffee shop, friendly staff clean facilities and delicious brunch food at fair price point for students and gluten free/veggie options. Been twice and will definitely be back again.
Hidden Gem! Tucked away in a little side street this restaurant is an amazing place to go with the family. We sat upstairs, were attended to very quickly and the staff are friendly.

Food was served quick. Every dish on the table was a wow with the family. Seafood was fresh and delicate. Chicken was soft and juicy throughout. Steak was done just right although a little small for some.
Small plates dinner. Nice vibe, friendly staff. Food was good, really decent portion sizes for sharing. The salmon was served in the most delicious broth! Cod and beans were also excellent, although both fish would have been perfect if the skin was crispy! Would happily return, hopefully for a roast next time as often hear them being mentioned. Thanks!
I honestly couldn't write a post good enough for Murmur! You should eat here, period!

The staff was wonderful. Clemont was a great host and helpful to every guest that I saw arrive. Chef Micheal made some amazing food that I will remember for a long time.

The Lobster Crockett was top notch and a perfect starter. The waitress was lovely and recommended the special "Skate Wing" which I had never heard of. I was delighted to try something new and it was amazing. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked, without being an over fishy tasting fish. And desert was absolutely the best. Hot chocolate that was so rich in flavor and Sticky Toffee pudding that was an absolutely heavenly peice of perfection.

My picky eater of a daughter said it was the best pasta she has even had!

If you want a nice dining experience on the sea, eat here!

Nice 'meaty' oysters and a good selection of starters. The chef was kind enough to do a custom white seafood tagliatelle which was delicious. Lovely service with a friendly and attentive waitress. Would happily return!

Had a nice lunch here after doing the i360 in the morning - just a short walk away. We had lobster croquettes for starters which was delicious, then I chose a whole Brill from the specials board. It was cooked well - lovely and tender. If you like seafood, you would love this place.

The restaurant was busy so I'd certainly recomend booking in advance, although I think the seating outside is used for walk-ins. Waitress was friendly with a good sense of humour even though there was clearly a lot going on. Also expect a leisurely sea-front dining experience rather than a quick meal.
What a place to start your day at.
Very friendly staff, delicious and fairly priced food. They've got amazing smoothies for such a cosy place. Students, you are welcomed here!
