I visited the statue a few days after the Oktoberfest and felt that the statue and surrounding area was not maintained for cleanliness. The stairs were sticky and the statue was closed for a long time and I couldn't get an inside view.. Some prominent scholars, historians and worriers are also displayed as statues to showcase the Bavarian History and their prominent existence in the past around the area. To be frank I was not aware of any Bavarian history before but the statue made me curious to know it and that's how I studied a bit on the internet. The statue is big but compared to the statue of liberty it's half of that probably but still worth visiting. I recommend visiting during the Oktoberfest as the maintenance and livelihood is at its best during the event.

5€ to go up, winding stairs. When crowded you must wait as there is only room for three in the top. If you are claustrophobic, don’t recommend. Worth a try. Nice view of the Wiesn during Oktoberfest.

Oktoberfest: The world's largest folk festival with beer festival and traveling carnival takes place annually from mid or late September to the first Sunday in October in Munich, Bavaria. More than six million international and national visitors attend the event. It is popularly called d'Wiesn, after the colloquial name of the festival grounds, Theresienwiese.

After a walk in the central part of the city, this place made a great impression. Calm atmosphere, breathtaking view of the eye-catching monument, space to walk around. You can enter the monument for a fee, but it was enough for us to explore it from the outside.
Great place with a very beautiful fountain, really impressive, especially looks great at night

It's a really pretty fountain and far enough away from the city center that it wasn't crowded.

Very spacious garden and beautiful palace. Definitely worth the time to walk around the gorgeous garden. You can buy tickets ahead but there's no wait time on the line. The museum close earlier than the palace so plan accordingly

Nymphenburg Palace is an absolute gem! My visit here left me awe-inspired. The palace's architecture is breathtaking, and the vast gardens surrounding it are like a piece of paradise on Earth.

The interior of the palace is a step back in time to the opulence of Bavarian royalty. Each room is exquisitely decorated and tells a rich history. The porcelain rooms were a personal favorite, showcasing some of the finest porcelain craftsmanship I've ever seen.

The extensive gardens are perfect for a leisurely stroll, and the fountains are a true marvel. I visited during the summer, and it was a delight to see the fountains in full splendor.

The staff at Nymphenburg Palace were friendly and helpful, offering insights into the history and culture of this magnificent place. I highly recommend taking a guided tour to get the most out of your visit.

Whether you're a history buff, an art lover, or simply looking for a beautiful and serene escape, Nymphenburg Palace is an absolute must-visit. It's an experience that will stay with you forever, and I can't wait to return.

Enjoy free parking and WiFi also.

Spectacular palace and grounds. We drove and found parking easily. We didn’t go in the palace but walked through to the back to see the gardens, which were impressive and peaceful.

If you are a history buff, I suggest you rather take a ticket (cost 5€)to the places inside the garden rather than the Nymphenburg palace galleries. We walked around the whole garden and read all the boards of the places inside the garden. Very interesting! It took about 3 hours.

Absolutely beautiful and enormous statue in Munich.

We checked this out during the festival and walked all the way up to see the hall and statue. The hall was closed but the statue climb was open. You do have to pay to go into the statue.

A really beautiful view of the entire park and festival from up top.

Highly recommended

Cute little hidden gem in Munich. Something easy to do when you're looking to fill some time while exploring. The man at the ticket booth was extremely friendly as well.
The stair case is very narrow and the space at the top is tight so they only allow about 5 people to go up at time. So don't surprised if you have to wait a few minutes to go up.
Also it gets pretty warm at the top so just be mindful of that on a hot day.

Great architecture surrounded by very beautiful scenery. Large parking available nearby and the palace is easily accessible by public transport.

I did not visit the inside though.

Very nice free photo opportunity in front of the castle especially on sunny days !

The place is very clean and well maintained
One of the best photo spots in Munich.

Stunning statue ! Must visit if you’re in Munich. Access to the inside is possible but i didn’t do it.

It seems like it is a romantic meeting point for local couples.

Many events take place in the area in front of the statue, depending on your time of visit.

The place is very nice and scenic. If you are interested to visit inside the Palace, you need to purchase €10 ticket. For guided trip and museum, you need to pay an additional €8. During my visit a few rooms were closed due to renovation. During weekend, expect a queue of 10-20 people for the tickets. Also inside the Palace.

One of the most amazing and beautiful gardens I’ve visited. The grounds are huge and the gardens are free to visit. You can spend almost all day there to visit all the amazing places. There are free parking nearby s well. The main palace building is a huge villa with two wings that had 16 rooms. The rooms are decorated beautifully with luxury furnitures.

Very beautiful palace with great architecture. Palace is well maintained.
Very good place to bring kids. Unfortunately we are not able to visit all attractions in the palace.
We went only for Galarie and that was really great.
They have almost 300 parking places, we can park for free.
Every attraction has a price other than visit to Garden.
They have a Gondola too inside, we can ride with a price.

Beautiful and majestic fountain, must visit. But no much tourists are in that place amazingly.
Beautiful monument with magnificent stone architecture.
including two humanbeing giving water jars while riding a bull and horse.
Very calm place right next to a park. I've seen people sitting next to it and study and read. Even though I don't know much about the story/history behind it, these statues and the fountain is very attractive. It's worth to pay a visit and spend some time there if you visit Munich.

Located at the western end of Maximiliansplatz is this landmark fountain of the city. This beautiful, monumental fountain was built to commemorate the construction of Munich's water supply system and named for the House of Wittelsbach, who ruled over Bavaria for more than seven centuries.

The centrepiece of the fountain is two central bowls, arrange with the smaller over the larger where the water cascades from a central bowl into a large bowl below. The central fountain is flanked by two marble statues, of a man and a woman, both riding seahorses. Allegorical figures representing the benefits and destructive natures of water.

The Wittelsbacher Brunnen is a monumental, two level fountain situated at the southeast end of Maximillianplatz where the square meets Lenbachplatz. This is a large scale fountain that is impressive to see while sightseeing in Munich.

Originally built between 1893-1895 by German sculptor Adolf von Hildebrand. Here you will see a centre chalice shaped fountain which water gushing from its top and spilling into a basin. From this top level basin, water then spills into a much larger ground level basin below, through fish sculptures embedded into the fountain wall. The wall is adorned with interesting engravings. You will also see two large allegorical figures situated upon the wall, flanking the centre basin and providing compositional balance to the fountain.

Note: You can walk behind the fountain when entering Maximilianplatz and see the top level basin, centre fountain and two allegorical sculptures from behind and more closely.

In the end, this was one of the best fountains we found during our recent visit to Munich. It is one of the first that we would seek to return to see again next time we are in the city.
