Our tickets included access to Albertina and Albertina Modern. To be honest, we're not quite sure if we saw the whole thing, but we did enjoy the exhibits. We didn't rush and yet it only took us an hour to see the whole thing. Tickets are valid for up to one year, so I really appreciated the freedom to fit it into our schedule whenever it worked for us rather than having to go at a fixed date and time, as things plans may vary.
One of the best museums in the city. Nice collection, friendly security, quiet and easy to go around. It took me about 2 hours to see everything. There was a candle light concert in one of the antique rooms that I wish to visit next time.

A very limited selection of works composed within one floor with a temporary space of a few rooms downstairs. Not worth the price of admission or more importantly your time given the amount of excellent museums in Vienna. Even walking around the street outside would be more fulfilling than visiting here.
Some interesting pieces in their collection but nothing really commendable.

This is definitely for people who like weird alternative art. Lots of mixed media art, sculptures and photography.

Was it worth my money; no.

I only recommend if you’re curious about the collection the museum has and you have 15 euros to spare as well as some free time.
An imposing concrete building with a greatlocation above Salzburg and an amazing view. You should also visit the cafe. Which is expensive but the for its design it is worth seeing.
The museum has been restored, during the Second World War there was a bomb hit, so only one room remained in the original. Original paintings are exhibited according to the schedule, approximately 5 times a year. The copies are of very good quality. I would start my visit on the top floor. Munch's painting was surprising.
Avoid! Paid 25 euros for 2 tickets, expecting it to be a nice gallery with good art where we could spend an hour or so enjoying the work. But actually there were only two or three rooms with some photos on the walls and a few video installations. It took no more than 10 minutes to look at everything (in fact 5 minutes would have been ample time). The quality of the artwork was very low. Just ordinary photos of mundane things, like buildings or park benches, and not even done in an artistic way. There is a room with several projectors set up and they just show film on a loop of people going down an escalator. That is literally it, just people going down an escalator. Nothing creative at all. And another room with a big projector showing a film of some ordinary street scene in what looks like Cuba, but it is just like an amateur home video taken of nothing particularly interesting at all. How this can be called art I do not understand, although I accept this is a question of personal taste, and I personally have always found conceptual art to be a waste of space. Visiting this gallery did put quite a dampner on our trip because it felt just like a tourist scam, although I'm sure that wasn't their intention. If you think conceptual art is great you might like this, but certainly you won't get value for money.

Albertina is a must stop for any art lover. The temporary exhibitions are always brilliant, the permanent ones are rather small but very diverse. Loved the Palace structure. The Basquiat exhibition was amazing!

The museum itself was interesting with great 360 views from the top. You need get the elevator to get there. Majority of exhibitions was interesting but 2nd floor at the time was not. Worth a visit mainly for the views.

Smaller cousin of its more famous Belvedere cousins, this modern-art focussed gallery is quite a different space to the others. Very open and spacious, with much less visitation than the others. Modern art is very subjective of course - I found the exhibitions interesting, if not exactly my cup of tea.

Great exhibits, but terrible experience. Audio broke in and out bc WiFi was inconsistent. Expensive tickets which doesn’t allow you access to all the floors. The gift shop was meager in its offerings.

Regularly changing exhibitions - the 2nd „home“ of Albertina - focussing on modern art. Always worth a visit. On the first floor you find Künstlerhaus, a more edgy modern-art-museum showing mostly art of upcoming artists.
Such wonderful employees at this museum! A huge thanks to Herr Wieser who saw that I stumbled into the gallery with so little time to spare before closing, and so kindly helped me get the most out of my time by indicating all the highlights.
His insistence that I saw the balcony before I left gave me the highlight of my day!
This was so generous and pinnacle of what a museum caretaker can be. The Residenz is lucky to have him.

Enjoyed peaking into the closed cathedral to hear a fine choir and orchestra rehearse Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus. Did not enjoy references to a local art dealer who gave paintings to the collection that he had bought in Berlin and Vienna in a ‘grand purchase’ during the Nazi era. In Germany and Austria such ‘purchasing’ is associated with the desperation with which Jews sold their collections and stock in trade at a fraction of their value in order to flee for their lives. Shame on you Salzburg.
Somehow this modern art doesn't appeal to me... something smeared on the canvas, as the author was drunk, without any care. And let's look at the masterpieces of Masters such as Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Michelangelo, Da Vinci or Vasari... this is art with heart put into it... unfortunately, nowadays art has become kitsch and no one will paint such masterpieces... now definitely graffiti is an art similar to what it was centuries ago! These people have a wonderful talent for painting!

It is worth to go here just for the view. The museum itself is moderately small and the exhibitions are extremely avante garde and don't have very many famous pieces. Of all the art on display, I only enjoyed about 3-4 pieces and the rest seemed tired and full of itself for the sake of art. The building is beautiful and the surrounding view outside is amazing. If you have the time, there is a nice trail that goes all the way to the fortress, which is worth the time.

This meseum looks like a big exhibition with 3 main floors. Before you get in, u will be required to deposit 1 to 2 euros to put your stuff in the locker (dont worry, u can still take your coin back later). It doesnt have that much people so it wont be crowded so you can enjoy everything in peace. And this place was really well-organized. Recommended!

The outside gave me an undescribable please! After a long day of exploring Salzburg, an evening snack sitting by the foundation took all my tiredness away. Watching the sunset along with the water sound was perfect!
Interesting exhibitions, particularly in the Mönchsberg site, where there is also an incredible view at the top. I was recommended to visit this site after the smaller one in Altstadt. Staff were friendly in both places, and free entry with the Salzburg card is great.

Great space and exhibitions at this museum in central Vienna just in front of the Musikverein.
The Nara exhibition is well thought and allows to understand the origin and the evolution of the artist.
This is an unappealing museum. The building is a soulless concrete block that unfortunately smells damp and unpleasant. There is a view from the balcony that's good but that's not the museum.

If you have hiked to the top don't make the mistake of taking the lift down. There are no signs telling you the lift goes down all the way to river level nor are there any signs telling you about paying at the bottom to get out. We took the lift looking for a toilet as the one upstairs was 'closed'. When we got to the bottom we realised our mistake and hoped to get back to where we started. Unfortunately that required an additional ticket as well as the downstairs 'exit' ticket. How ridiculously bureaucratic.
Today is Friday October 6, 2023.
The front desk is extremely rude. We asked for the direction to the top of the museum, he gave us a nasty attitude, slammed his desk and raised his voice. It was so unnecessary and unprofessional. I am totally speechless and confused…

It's modern art. You either like it or you don't. If you think to yourself: "you know what would make a great art piece? A jar of pickles." Then you are in the right place
Beautiful building. Well appointed. Wide staircases.

An austrian take on modern art with emphasis on austrian artists.

Spacious, with beautifully displayed art in well lit rooms with chairs you can take with you and sit next to art you want to stare at. Really neat idea.

If you’ve been to modern art museums in New York etc, it’d hard to be impressed by the collection here but it’s really surprising how engaging the exhibits are. One finds lots of school kids painting and drawing in the museum which is a wonderful thing to see.

We visited the Albertina Modern on the 7th of July. We visited the "Andy Warhol to Damien Hirst - The Revolution in Printmaking" and "Yoshitomo Nara All My Little Words" exhibitions. They were both amazing and I highly recommend everyone to come and see them. Please block at least two hours for both exhibitions in order to have enough time to see them.

Having a few hours of layover at the train station, I really enjoyed visiting Belvedere 21! The exhibition itself is sometimes profound, sometimes absurd, and mostly borderline shitposting and I can vibe with it.

I couldn’t say I explored everything, but I had a really great time! Staff are nice and vibes are chill. Will recommend to people who enjoy modern art, shitposting and revolutions.

4.5/5 rounding up to 5/5, the 0.5 off was due to my slight disappointment that it’s not actually a museum of revolution

Such a beautiful art gallery!! I really enjoyed Warhol exhibition but the Yashitomo Nara “All my little words” stole my heart🤍 Both of the exhibitions are worth all of money and they are done perfectly. I strongly recommend it to everyone who loves modern art but also to someone who’s new to it and not really interested in art.
The building and staff were nice. The exhibits when I went were difficult to consider art and of the few parts that came off artistic, most of it wasn't visually appealing nor carried a message. Frequently, the art lacked connection and meaning to me. It just felt like someone made a deal in order to get a handful of aspiring artists resume fillers. Of the handful of pieces that did positively stand out, I wish those artists the best and feel bad their work was surrounded by not art.

Trotzdem lohnenswert. Also auf geht's. PS. Bilder sind durch die Lage im Zentrum nur schwer zu machen !

Free with Salzburg card to enter the museum and take the elevator. We didn’t look at any of the museum items and just went straight to the elevator because we knew there’s a gorgeous view at the top terrace.

Out of all the views in Salzburg, this one was by far the best. It keeps getting better and better. The first one was right outside the elevator. Then continue up the stairs and you come across this huge fortress wall. Walk all the way to the back and you’ll see a huge grass area. Get close to the edge and you’ll get a close up of the Hohensalzburg fortress then look below and you’ll see Dom quarter and to the left you’ll see the bridge that takes you over to Hotel Sacher and the magnolia trees blooming at the market plaza.

Great place to relax and lots of locals walking their dogs. Also saw a food truck.

Very nice museum and exhibitions
I absolutely loved the Gunda Gruber exhib that I went to see here. 1 museum, 2 locations, different exhibs at both, both worth visiting and close to each other. The other location is only 5 mins walk and a lift. You can hike up if you're feeling very energetic. Your ticket works for both and I think you can use it up to a week (Double check this at the desk). So you don't have to over-do it. The work was excellent and the museum isn't massive, so you can get a nice, bite-sized chuck of well displayed, good quality modern art in the beautiful city of Salzburg. Well worth a visit!

Personally, I don't think it's worth the single-ticket (~€9) but the 3 Belvedere combined-ticket (~€25) was the better option.

This is an interesting museum packed with modern art. It definitely won't be to everyone's taste. There are multiple floors to visit and the artwork bring displayed changes regularly. Their website is well maintained so you can check it out before visiting for more information about the active expositions.

The staff was very friendly and there's also a cafe and small shop now set up near the entrance. There's a large locker room as well, so you can leave your jackets and whatnot without worry.

The café was so good I didn’t go into the galleries. Also excellent architecture opposite which was great for drawing while I enjoyed a very long breakfast. By the way, it’s worth visiting just to see the lampshades.
Interesting (red) classicist architecture, innovative artists. Very nice veg* cafe

I would say it’s worth the visit if you really like (or want to explore) contemporary art. Place is not that big. You could do the whole tour in 30 mins to 2 hours. There are permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Disappointed I am afraid... The place has high architectural potential but it does not seem to be much exploited. It is often silent and empty... I was there also for the "open atelier" weekend and could not see anything interesting happening there... no vibes, no emotions, no art...
I love art, but art should inspire to something more than making me think 'the emperor has a complete new wardrobe'. It is a sin that taxpayers work to finance this silliness. But the view is good.
Nice place and a great cafe riverside. Very friendly waitress..
The staff is really helpful! There are two modern museums and they are not far away from each other, but the new one is on the top of the mountain so it will take people at least 10 mins to walk there. The museums are not very big, but the themes are very nice and meaningful!

Beautiful palace in classic Rococo style located in the middle of the Altstadt. For centuries this has been the residence of the Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg. It was the place where they discussed politics, lived, hosted events, dinner parties and via which they could easily enter the Dom next to it.
You get to see several things in one tour. It is very cool to be in the same room as Mozart started his career as a 6 year old boy.
The tour fits for both adults and children. Where the children also can dress up as in the 18th century.
This is the top of the cliff part of the fantastic unmissable modern art gallery in Salzburg. It's split into 2 parts - one in the city centre and one newer and larger part perched on top of a cliff with magnificent views over the city. The clifftop part is accessed by a pedestrian lift. The entrance cost and the lift cost is included in the Salzburg card. The photos show both items from the permanent collection as well as from the special exhibitions on in December 2019
Fantastic unmissable modern art gallery in Stuttgart. It's split into 2 parts - one in the city centre and one newer and larger part perched on top of a cliff with magnificent views over the city. Nice location. Artists residency. Very good coffee. Salzburg is old and beautiful town where was living Stefan Zweig.
Beautiful building. Very interesting exhibitions and a cozy coffee place to have good food, fresh coffee and even a nice cold beer.
The Salzburger Kunstverein is one of the most prestigious contemporary art institutions in Central Europe. It focuses on new media, film and video installations, conceptual art, and photography, it is one of the main platforms for Austrian and International Artists.

In addition, the building houses 25 different studios for artists, designers, musicians and institutions. There is also a restaurant to have a coffee or a meal before/after seeing the exhibition, their food is delicious!

There are many different events happening during the year (openings, workshops, cinema, concerts, talks, etc) so the best thing to do is to follow them on FB or Instagram, or visit their page frequently to be updated.
