Interesting exhibitions, particularly in the Mönchsberg site, where there is also an incredible view at the top. I was recommended to visit this site after the smaller one in Altstadt. Staff were friendly in both places, and free entry with the Salzburg card is great.

Today is Friday October 6, 2023.
The front desk is extremely rude. We asked for the direction to the top of the museum, he gave us a nasty attitude, slammed his desk and raised his voice. It was so unnecessary and unprofessional. I am totally speechless and confused…

Beautiful building. Well appointed. Wide staircases.

An austrian take on modern art with emphasis on austrian artists.

Spacious, with beautifully displayed art in well lit rooms with chairs you can take with you and sit next to art you want to stare at. Really neat idea.

If you’ve been to modern art museums in New York etc, it’d hard to be impressed by the collection here but it’s really surprising how engaging the exhibits are. One finds lots of school kids painting and drawing in the museum which is a wonderful thing to see.

The building and staff were nice. The exhibits when I went were difficult to consider art and of the few parts that came off artistic, most of it wasn't visually appealing nor carried a message. Frequently, the art lacked connection and meaning to me. It just felt like someone made a deal in order to get a handful of aspiring artists resume fillers. Of the handful of pieces that did positively stand out, I wish those artists the best and feel bad their work was surrounded by not art.

I absolutely loved the Gunda Gruber exhib that I went to see here. 1 museum, 2 locations, different exhibs at both, both worth visiting and close to each other. The other location is only 5 mins walk and a lift. You can hike up if you're feeling very energetic. Your ticket works for both and I think you can use it up to a week (Double check this at the desk). So you don't have to over-do it. The work was excellent and the museum isn't massive, so you can get a nice, bite-sized chuck of well displayed, good quality modern art in the beautiful city of Salzburg. Well worth a visit!

I love art, but art should inspire to something more than making me think 'the emperor has a complete new wardrobe'. It is a sin that taxpayers work to finance this silliness. But the view is good.

The staff is really helpful! There are two modern museums and they are not far away from each other, but the new one is on the top of the mountain so it will take people at least 10 mins to walk there. The museums are not very big, but the themes are very nice and meaningful!
