Another overlooked treasure of the Mirabell Garden. The Susannabrunnen is a statue of young woman startled by someone's presence while bathing. Created by Hans Waldburger, about1700.

This monument is next to Sisi museum. Details on it are fascinating
Emperor Franz I
was Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary, and the ruler of the other states of the Habsburg monarchy from 2 December 1848 until his death in 1916.[1] In the early part of his reign, his realms and territories were referred to as the Austrian Empire, but were reconstituted as the dual monarchy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1867. From 1 May 1850 to 24 August 1866, he was also president of the German Confederation.

Visited here last January 2024 in a cold winter afternoon...but the sky was already dark.
Well, the statues are impressive that sits in the Innerer Burghof courtyard.
Emperor Franz I statue is located at the center of surrounded by 4 ladies.
Under his statue, there is a description and it says : Amorem Mevm Popvlis Meis (I Love Myself with My People)
Hoping the city of Vienna especially the Tourism sector could fix and clean the statues cause the stains are visible.
It is 24/7 and free entrance.

Very nice fountain.
It's located inside a beautiful garden. The place around is very beautiful for hanging out or doing a picnic. The Monument itself is also built amazingly good. A must visit place for Mozart lovers.

I came across this incredible sculpture located in the inner courtyard of the Hofburg while walking the streets of Vienna. This stunning sculpture is surrounded by historical buildings and a beautiful plaza area and architecture. The four statues at the base represent religion peace justice and strength.

This monument stands in tribute to Ludwig von Beethoven,

The monument is a bronze sculptural group with Beethoven at it’s centre. The sculptural group all sit on a stepped pedestal. At the bottom are 9 youths, an allusion to the 9 symphonies composed by Beethoven. Flanking the pedestal are Prometheus and Nike, an allegorical reference to the deliverance and victory of the music of Beethoven. Finally, atop the pedestal is a stereotypical image of Beethoven with his famously curled hair and moody look.

A fine monument to a fine composer. Sadly, the monument is off the main tourist circuit, but it’s worth a look if you’re in the area.

Paired with the everyman on the Kugel, who strangely isn't facing in her direction.

She's also only 135cm high, and very small in the face of the wall.

Poor Beethoven, his classical monument needs to face a contemporary caricature. That is rather humiliating to the great composer and reflects the degradation of the arts and shows the disrespect to Beethoven and the downfall of esthetics. Very pity to see that.

I passed by Beethoven Square in route to Karlsplatz from Stadtpark during our March visit to Vienna, enjoying the monument to Maestro Ludwig van Beethoven, as I have in the past when spending time in Vienna.

This large scale monument is the work of German sculptor Kaspar von Zumbusch and was erected in 1880. It portrays Beethoven as a hero and serious individual, surrounded by an allegorical arrangement of figures situated around the large pedestal beneath Beethoven.

It is an impressive composition that is well worth seeking if you are a fan of of the maestro or if you enjoy monument viewing during your travels.

There is an impressive monument in the small courtyard at the Hapsburg Palace that is worth viewing when passing through the palace grounds between Michaelerplatz and Heldenplatz

This is a large scale monument and the works of Italian sculptor Pompeo Marchesi in 1846. Here you find Francis II, the last Holy Roman Emperor whose reign lasted from 1792 to 1806, standing in robe with sceptre in his left hand. His right hand is pointing to the right as if he is addressing a crowd in that direction.

The monument is standing upon a pedestal covered with bas reliefs. There are also four different bronze figures depicting moral virtues of religion, peace, justice and strength that surround the Kaiser Franz statue.

This is a nice monument to see for those who enjoy this type of sightseeing during their travels.

Hannakenbrunnen is an interesting small fountain located at the bottom of the staircase leading up to Maria Am Gestade (St. Mary's on the Bank) church..

This is the work of Rudolf Schmidt in 1937 and is an octagonal fountain with a small stone basin. In the centre of the basin is a small block of male figures, two are carrying an injured companion. There is a water pitcher and a dog below them. It is an interesting monument composition that I enjoyed seeing during a visit to Vienna this past March.

You can conveniently view Hannakenbrunnen before or after seeing St. Mary's on the Bank church. Give it a few minutes before continuing on with other intended sightseeing.
nice oasis in the middle of a concrete city. This part of town needs more small resting places. Especially in the summer, because the Lothringerstraße is such a dry, treeless patch in the middle of beautiful Vienna! This park saved me many times as I visited the Austrian Motor Club around the corner, because Beethoven and trees. Nice! Thanks!
