The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is a great place to visit if you have a couple of hours to spare in Hobart! If you have kids, try a fun activity where they spell the botanical names of the plants—they’ll love it.
Allow yourself plenty of time at the Botanical Gardens as there is so much to see. We paid to go on the buggy with a guided tour with Roy. He was great and provided us with so much information and ensured that we got to see everything. This is a must for anyone if they have difficulty walking long distances or are short on time. Before leaving, we went to the restaurant and sat on the balcony (with stunning views) and had the most delicious Devonshire Tea.
A very chill and relaxing atmosphere. Lovely old trees and the Japanese garden area is extra peaceful and beautiful.

The subantarctic area was very cool. Literally. Recommend it if you're feeling overheated.
I always like to rate places in comparison to what's in town. The botanic gardens in Hobart were massive with lots to see. There's a diverse range of gardens, from Japanese to ones that are unique to Hobart. It's also a great spot for a leisurely stroll.
It was very sad that the Japanese gardens were shut off. However, the rest of the gardens were still very beautiful. Very nice spot to walk around and enjoy the beautiful plants and flowers.
Absolutely beautiful gardens to visit. Great cafe plus takeaways (the wrap and coffee were 5/5) to just sit and enjoy some stunning gardens after a wander around.
Didn't see it all as the wine festival was happening in a section of the gardens and came too late to attend.
Free entry but donations appreciated.
Pretty nice park to spend a quality time with your family. As being in a hilly region, there are quite a few ups and downs so be careful with little ones. My son is 2 and half and he kept running and fall down quite a few times. Nothing major though. Parking was little tough to get near the garden. But greenery as Botanical garden was wonderful.
Cute garden, but the walk from the city is beyond far and uphill on a rocky surface. Also, no shade on the path from the city. The Japanese Garden is cute, food garden has a variety of crops and there were some orchestra and carolling singers rehearsing. The shop was cute and had quite a variety of local products. There is also a small shop for takeaway snacks and drinks, and a restaurant if you’d like to sit in.

There are so many kinds of cactus here. Fun to walk around:)
This is an awesome working botanical clock that intelligently uses the angle of the garden bed and the flowers incorporated to tell the time without the use of words or numbers. Very clever 👍
