Amazing Peruvian Food! Everything we had was excellent, from the drinks to the main dishes. The meat was also all perfectly cooked to a beautiful medium well. Excellent ceviche, beef hearts, and the steak main dish. Really hoped they wouldn’t have relocated to this area from Dupont, but they still deserve a visit.

Was walking down Kensington when we first smelt, then saw these customers sitting outside enjoying these DELICIOUS looking seafood soups. We just HAD to stop and try it.

I'm not even sure if it's on the written menu, but we asked the cashier if we could order a bowl and she said yes. The sweet mamas served us up with gorgeous bowl of parihuela and my goodness was it good. It was packed full of flavour and had so much seafood. It was $22 for a large bowl of soup and worth every penny.

So excited to go back and try everything else.
First time trying Peruvian food and it was great. Lots of flavour without overwhelming spice. Friendly service and cute atmosphere.
Delicious and authentic Peruvian food. Staff was very welcoming and attentive. All dishes and beverages were outstanding and were served within a timely manner. We will definitely be back.

Our experience at the local Peruvian restaurant was pleasant overall. We opted for the fresh chicken taco, which, while flavorful, left something to be desired in terms of taco seasoning and chicken meat quantity. The dominant taste of garlic was unexpected and somewhat overwhelming.

So happy to have a Peruvian restaurant in the neighbourhood. Nice little spot at the corner of Ontario and Carlton, with a small patio and quality, tasty Peruvian food. The customer service was excellent but relaxed. The Passion Fruit Mojito $15 was very sour, maybe a little too tart (esp for sensitive stomachs). The drink however was very pretty asthetically. The Classic Pisco Sour $18 was good - medium sour. They give you a mini bowl of crunchy (roasted) choclo (Andean large corn) kernels with your drinks. It was on the bland side. The Ceviche Mixto $28 was refreshing and quite tangy (maybe too tangy) but perfect for foodies with a super sour tooth. Also had the Arroz con Mariscos (Seafood Paella) $28 which was delicious. The flavour was nice, well seasoned but mild even though description says spicy. The meals were decently portioned, good amount of seafood cooked perfectly soft and not rubbery. The rice to seafood ratio was equal in the paella. The whole total after tip was around $118.00. The vibe is nice, good for a dinner date. IMO, the food price is close to decent for the quality, quantity and the atmosphere combined. My main critique would be that the sour drinks and dishes could use something to cut through the tartness to be more tolerrable. I still recommend this place.
The food was fantastic! There is a great variety on the menu. The staff were all very nice and friendly.

Best ceviche, best Peruvian food, best empanadas!!! You won’t be disappointed with any food from this store.
Lunch for one including appetizer, main course, a Latte and one double shot of tequila with tax and tip = $88.14.

The good, the bad & the ugly:

The good: The food is beyond reproach. Flavourful with good portions.

The bad: Tubular metal chairs that may dig into your thighs given a certain girth making eating your meal uncomfortable. Stick to bench seating.

The ugly: WASH YOUR HANDS! If you are suffering from a cold, allergies or the bubonic plague, the options are simple: stay home.
Failing that, once you've sneezed into a tissue and coughed in your hand, wash your hands before you start touching everything from the menus, the phone, the coffee machine, guests coats and everything else.
That should be drilled in when running a restaurant.
And if you insist on talking face to face with customers...as you did...please wear a mask.

As for the price and as wonderful as the food is, I hope the neighbourhood can sustain you.
An absolutely delicious meal in a very cozy restaurant and nice friendly chat with the owner. Tried the antichuchos, ceviche pescado, sopa de parihuela, and their pisco sour, all were amazing!!
Interesting to note the owner had to close the restaurant to walk-in clients early even though there seemed to be empty tables still, which appears to generate negative reviews, but when asked he said it's because there's a large party at the back which demanded a lot of attention, so there weren't enough resources to run the rest of the restaurant at full capacity. So I would strongly suggest to call ahead and make sure that you have a confirmed table especially on a weekend night before going. Also, if the food takes some time to arrive, don't worry it is well worth the wait :)

Excellent option for Peruvian food with a lot of local favourites for anyone that has had it abroad. Great variety of ceviche, and all the home style favourites are on their menu including lomo saltado (pictured) and pollo a la brasa. We also had the beef medallions which were so tender and flavourful, as well as the squid ink risotto which came loaded with seafood.
I was searching for a good Peruvian restaurant near downtown Toronto and I stumbled upon this place. As a Peruvian myself, I highly recommend it. Each dish was packed with authentic Peruvian flavor, but my personal favorites were the "Arroz con Mariscos" and the "Ceviche Carretillero", which can be difficult to find here. Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The Chicha Morada was a standout and I loved it. Additionally, the classic Pisco Sour was almost as good as the ones you'd find in Peru. I'm looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

Had their Nikkei III menu.
Really cool atmosphere (a bit loud/bar-like), excellent service.
Especially enjoyed the desserts. Found that they were fresh and complex. Their lamb was tender, juicy, fall off the bone.
Not a massive fan of the asparagus sushi (yep, you read that right), but I can understand that they're trying to pull off unlikely flavour combinations.
Overall a good experience. I would come back to experience their brunch menu, which is known to be even better than their great dinner experience!

Really exceptional wait staff.

Tasting menus for brunch which is a great idea and lighter on the wallet with the same level of experience.

Highlights included the chicken/pollo - the Last items from the tasting menu. As well as the ceviche.

Sushi was pretty standard.

Decor is incredible. And includes a second level!

Will be back for drinks.
We got the tasting menu for 2 and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Reason for 4 star is really up to personal preference of select dishes that I found to be on the sweeter side (which I normally isn’t a huge fan of) and pricing definitely on the higher side.

Finally got to try this place out and overall it was good. Food and drinks came fairly quickly but there was a brief pause between dishes. The cod is a must and would highly recommend this dish.

Servers were friendly, welcoming and explained the menu quite well and also engaging throughout the evening.

However, not sure how things are stored at coat check because they handed me my coat and my partners scarf and needed a hand and description finding my partners coat and my scarf. Afterward, my partner had realized her lipstick was missing from her coat and used it right before heading into the restaurant, so maybe it fell out in coat check.

Atmosphere was nice and the restaurant itself is quite spacious. Nice art and intriguing decor and design of the overall space.

Is it expensive?… yes. Is it worth it?… absolutely!!! We had a great date night out at Chotto Matte last night. We came by rather late as it was after a Mirvish show around 10:30pm. The place was still buzzing and had great atmosphere though you would never know it from the outside. Food was very very good. Perhaps not the best sushi I’ve had in my life but very good. The stuff coming off the grill was fantastic especially the pollo den miso! Drinks, dessert, and service were on all point and gentleman who served us was very knowledgeable and made great suggestions. Would recommend for a special evening out.

I heard mixed opinions about Chotto Matte, primarily driven by the price of the food, however I had an incredible meal that was definitely worth every penny!

Definitely go the tasting menu route. For $95 I had 8 courses, while my friends ordered a la carte and had a fraction of the food for 75% of the price. And yes, they do let some get the tasting menu even if the whole table doesn't participate.

Virtually every dish was a hit, minus the salmon which had a sauce with a weird taste. The chicken dish in particular was one of the best I've ever had! And the churro at the end was to die for as well.

Can't wait to come back!
I have been trying to go to this restaurant for some time now and glad I finally got to try it out….the interior is what got me first, it has a dark but moody design with beautiful art work throughout the restaurant. The food is Peruvian and Japanese so a very interesting mix but dishes are either Japanese or Peruvian it isn’t a fusion of the two, I don’t eat meat so I had the fish options which were all fresh and yummy, I only had one drink which was nice and dessert was yummy as well the cheesecake was so fluffy and delicious I highly recommend, the staff was friendly and very nice, they have a
Open kitchen so you can see meals being prepared. they had a Dj at the time that I went that was a plus for me. It is a higher price point so bare that in mind but I would definitely go again especially when their patio opens up
Best bowl in the city for the price! Quality is excellent. Is someone who enjoys different spices and flavours, I appreciate the unique Peruvian influence. I usually get delivery and I’m impressed at how well it travels. It’s packaged very intelligently and that makes such a difference in enjoying the product when it arrives.

As a nutrition coach and personal trainer, I can confidently say that this is the best place in Toronto where you can find a variety of high quality sourced ingredients, with options that not only taste delicious, but are also high in protein, and are nutrient-dense! Everything at Brasa is made from scratch; I say that with confidence, as you can really taste the freshness. Brasa makes being healthy on the go easy, and never boring! There are so many options from smoothies to avocado toast to warm bowls, the list goes on. I also love that it is gluten free and dairy free friendly!! I couldn't recommend it enough.
Just had the Niwa Brunch and it blew my mind! The free flowing cocktails were a hit, but the food was the star. From inventive sushi rolls to fusion dishes that pop with flavor, every plate was a delightful surprise. The atmosphere's buzzing and perfect for weekends. As a food lover, this is a brunch experience I can't recommend enough.
I love to cook, when I get food besides my own cooking, I am very particular. I enjoy healthy, filling food composed of vegetables, lentils, chicken and a delicious sauce made in a very clean environment. Brasa Peruvian checks all the boxes.

I had a busy morning, currently getting food to-go and that is where I’m heading. I find a healthy lunch makes for a very productive afternoon.

If you haven’t been I highly recommend you go! I’ve been to almost every restaurant in Toronto and Brasa is consistently a 10/10.
Ordered and requested delivery from Brasa for my Team Lunch meeting. The delivery was right on time and the food bowls were just amazing. Everyone on my team complimented that this a really good place to get lunch from. Definitely ordering from them again. The bowls were filling and delicious. 10/10!

This is my first time here, and I absolutely loved their food and coffee.
My friend and I didn't have a reservation, but luckily we got a table for two, and it turned out to be one of the best restaurant experiences in the past month. The food was impeccable, well-cooked, and served with fresh ingredients and balanced seasoning. All four dishes we had were of a decent portion and tasted amazing. It did take a little bit longer for the dishes to be served, but it was definitely worth the wait.
I had espresso, and my friend had a Spanish coffee, and they were both very good.
Highly recommended, and I would definitely come back for the dessert we didn't have a chance to try.

Went here for the first time, got the Hot Brasa Chicken with added rice and sweety peppers. Tried both the hot rocoto+lime sauce and the maca yogurt dressing. The chicken, potatoes and other veggies (sweet peppers and yellow beets were my fave) were so flavourful and the salsa had a nice kick. The rice was ok and the sauces were more mayo than crema which I wasn’t a big fan of but honestly the other components are so tasty you really don’t need to add sauce. I will be back.
Dang their food was really good.
I got the Tuna Ceviche Bowl and nothing missed.
The sweet potato blossoms and avocado paired well with the rest of the food.
I was very full after probably because of all the protein.

The employees were very welcoming and energized, top customer service.

I would come here next time I’m in the office or nearby!

Very cute store! The staff are super friendly. We went during the Pedestrian Sunday and they really made sure we had seats to enjoy the food comfortably.

I just love ceviche so I have to come here. It was very good as I expected. A Peruvian friend told me about this place so nothing can go wrong ;)
Had gone with family on my birthday eve. It was an evening to remember. Great ambience, good service and aromatic food.
For starters we ordered : Papas a la huancaina
For main course we ordered:
Pecho de pollo a la parilla and Lomo Saltado Pollo
Excellent flavours, lovely texture perfect spices.
Everything. About this place is amazing . Service, food and atmosphere!!! The pisco sour is soooo good 10/10!!!! We had the ceviche and jalea and this place is not about quantity but quality. The flavor is so good and great taste !

Healthy and tasty food. The ingredients are high quality and worth the price. Calorie count is good, and while they dont post the macros, it looks to be a decent mix for the meat based bowls. If you want to keep the calories down, just ask for the sauces on the side.

My favourites are the chicken bowl and the tuna ceviche bowl.

If you want some extra protein, just double the meat.
Paracas is a unique place with an extensive and authentic menu. We tried their ceviche of sea bass and it was served with sweet potatoes. It was delicious!

We also tried their beef heart appetizer and it was good. The seafood soup was very flavourful and packed with all kinds of seafood. The stewed goat was tender but it could use more spices.

It was a good Peruvian meal.

The shop owner is a very sweet lady, happy to help you choose and explain about various empanadas and other dishes they have. A bit pricey in my opinion, but the taste is amazing. Highly recommend their tamale and chicken empanadas!

One of our favorite go to places when we come to Toronto for a visit. We always come for the fresh ceviche (only available on Saturday and Sunday) but worth it. The picture does not do the taste justice for how good it is.

Refreshing on a hot day, we always get one to go for our Sunday travels home. We will be back for more!
Had the Hot Brasa Chicken, Chifa Short Rib Bowl, and Avacado Toast - so good. Love the fact they asked if I want to put the dressing on the side, and also gave me tips on best to mix it (jab VS toss). Added some extra roasted corn nuts... Those were so good... And they got these interesting facts about Peru on their bowls. Nice touch -- the Chifa Bowl is a must try.

It's a very intimate atmosphere. The staff and owners are friendly and welcoming yet when booking a reservation on the phone is very interesting- lacking of communication skills.

Food here are delicious but some dish were extremely overpriced with such small portion. There were two dish they messed up and we didn't bother asking for more as all our orders were late also.
It's got a homely feel and is an intimate restaurant. The service is friendly kind and knowledgeable and you always feel welcomed. The menu has plenty of items to choose from and offers authentic Peruvian cuisine. We got the bistec and the salmon and although priced relatively high (24 and 27$) they were fantastic. You get complimentary bread and hot sauces before your orders as well. The food was absolutely amazing and would recommend this to anyone who wants quality Peruvian cuisine with a wonderful location.
I keep coming back. This restaurant has ambiance, cozy atmosphere, good music, and a great selection of great food ( prices look on expensive side but they serve big portions) I love ceviche, salads, every main meal we took ( were trying different ones all the time) was great. Nicely served, tasty, just right. If this restaurant was downtown, they would be super busy. Or, if it looked outside as good as its food... It looks pretty modest for one of the top Peruvian restaurants in town.. so, take advantage of its location, and come to have great food in a great place.

Fantastic Peruvian food with a family feeling as soon as you walk into the place in Kensington market.

If you've never had Peruvian food this place is simply the best way to get into it. The soup was warm and flavorful and the same goes for everything else we tried.
