Very small and outdated. Terrible parking. Not enough spots for even 1 team. Whenever there is a back to back practice you have to park on the street usually around the corner. Which sucks cause you are lugging hockey equipment.
Nostalgia trip as I played here 30 years ago. Kept the aesthetic of the old barn with some good renovations. Cool rink as usual.

Arena is clean and well maintained. Parking is a bit challenging. Plan ahead and drive earlier to give time to find a parking spot.
Washrooms were clean, however would benefit with a freshner and/ or sanitizer to combat the drain smell. Thank you.

Not going to lie, I’m probably going to come off a bit biased with this review considering I skate here once a week. I wouldn’t consider this the best arena in the city but I do think it’s the perfect simple community arena. Sure it has its drawbacks like the small parking lot but I’ve never had an issue with street parking. Some people complain about the locker room size, showers and the fact that the automatic door only opens 50% of the time but what really counts is that the ice is generally in great condition, the gates work and you have plenty of room on the bench.
Keep in mind I'm only reviewing the food court, not the club.

When I ordered, I asked the staff what "M" and "NM" were on the menu. “She explained: "M is a member, and NM is not a member." I said: "Then I am not a member .”(my husband is a member, but he is playing hockey and not around, so I didn't use his membership number). I felt the tone of her voice was Not very friendly either, when my son asked about the price of the drinks, then she started to express her impatience. When we finished ordering and it was the turn of the next customer, her attitude immediately changed to become friendly.

I immediately thought she was impatient because I am Asian and my English is not good, and I feel race discrimination.
I find it odd that there isn't a front reception, but the staff are lovely and I find it great that there are so many rinks!

Great hockey barn! Staff on-site is always friendly and helpful. Nicely located in the village of Streetsville, close to parks and trails.

Good place to spend the day watching hockey! I like that it has a second floor view of the 3 ice rinks without having to be next to it if you don't want to be cold. Yesterday was a busy day for them and the cons I found was the chair availability per table since we needed to go around looking for empty chairs to move to our table, plus the delay on our food order due to the amount of orders they were taking. Otherwise, it was a good experience.
Best place! Highly recommended

This rink smells of hockey..the second you walk in..to a hockey players..better than roses.
Arena is colder inside then outside, staff was rude when asked to turn on the heater, the girl had her head down sleeping at the table, the guy said oh you want the heaters on, then when I came back he said well its set to an automatic setting. When I called the number listed the girl answered the phone, Hello I'm like isn't this a business?? Very professional lol

Whatever you do, DO NOT eat the vending machine egg salad sandwich. Other than that, the seating area to watch the game was good, with the players right beneath you. Bathrooms were a bit of a walk, but wheelchair accessible. There were around 8 vending machines, so you’ll find a good drink/snack/meal everytime.
An idyllic community centre in Streetsville with a banquet hall. We celebrated a 90th birthday here, catered food and brought our own drinks, there’s a bar fridge and large hall good for 150 plus people. The washrooms are kept clean and supplied. Certainly the function room will suffice for a decent celebration like we had. There’s enough parking space for everyone and located around a green area.

Not sure what kind of club this is that the VM says the office is open from 6am to 10pm but I've been calling their number 5 days in a row on Weekdays between the hours of 10am-4pm and no one responds!
The signage is a little confusing but overall really well setup!

When you are inside the building trying to get to hazel mccallion hall/room, there are arrows to indicate which direction to walk but the signage doesnt specify that you have to actually exit the building to get to that room, the internal door that would otherwise lead to that room is locked, so myself and about 20 others who came for a town hall meeting were all chatting about how that was confusing and unclear
Vic Johnston Community Center provides a well-maintained arena and community hall. The arena offers a great space for ice-related activities, while the community hall is spacious and versatile for various events. The staff is friendly and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant experience. It’s a fantastic facility for both sports enthusiasts and community gatherings.
We love the Vic! Skating with the kids or watching our friends'children play hockey is always a great experience. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We also really love the quality of the Vic merchandise and the price is just right.

In 37 years of hockey this is the worst arena I have ever played at. To start with the resurfacing machine is broken so that the mat that trails behind it doesn't touch the ice thus not smoothing it out, was like playing outdoors. All the mats on the bench were missing, exposing bare cement right at the entrance/exit to the benches. The entire arena looks like it is falling apart.
Amazing place to play hockey.

This rink is COLD! It has a heated lobby that SOME people could stay in to watch a game, but more that 5-10 spectators, and some will be forced to go sit in the stands.

A few teammates and I stayed on the bench during our mid-game flood, and my toes were getting pretty uncomfortable by the time the game resumed.

Some odd bounces off the boards glass too. Zamboni almost broke down during the mid-game flood too.

Big benches, locker rooms are an okay size (we had 13 adults, and weren't too uncomfortable). Good bottle filling station in the lobby before going on the ice.

This review is from a spectators perspective. For a few of the rinks there is nowhere for spectators to sit, you can stand and watch but even when you can stand in the warm area and watch through glass there is no seating and you are in the hall where the main door is thatbis opened frequently as players arrive and leave. If they even had a handful of chairs, it would make for a much more pleasant spectator experience.

Typical Edmonton community arena. When the heaters are on it's very warm. The wooden bench seating is both close to ice for good viewing and comfortable to sit (backrest).

One of my favorite arenas to play at, I usually play there twice a week. The ice is kind of like a pond and it's super cold inside but the showers are the best in the city... until the boiler craps out. There is a sweet little pro shop inside for skate sharpening and tape open from 10am-10pm. Someone out this funny looking snowman on the hood of my car. Great place to play hockey, I just love it.
The kid practices here plenty, but for real fun, bring the kids out for a men's or women's ravens game!

Parking lot is small and entrance is tucked oddly in a corner. No showers. There is a water filling station in the hallway.
Very old facility, a maze of hallways and stairs to find dressing rooms, almost no seating. I don't think they know that they can clean Plexiglas.

Decent area, just extremely freezing, even outside of the arena, people that are inside are even colder & have had to leave mid game. This is arena is so cold, when I went to my bfs last game here I legit FROZE. Even with a blanket, slippers, the whole nine & it is still like a freezer & then having to go outside that’s even colder is not a fun time. Please blast the heat at arenas, especially this one.

Ice quality is decent but not the best. Availability is good too. Change rooms are what you would expect of a highly used hockey facility, but less than you would hope.
The folks running beginner hockey programs at Rinx are fantastic though, that would be 5 star
Went to my granddaughter's hockey game. Watched ,cheered and really enjoyed myself. Her team won, but that doesn't matter as long as she enjoyed playing.

Pros
Fries hot
Clean location

Cons
Ordered honey garlic wings with seasoned fries. Wings tasted like Frank's red hot mixed with honey garlic. Told the bar staff. Didn't do anything.

Didn't take photo. Looked like honey garlic. Kitchen staff was blonde guy with a red hat.

Nice rink easy access to parking which our association covered for us. I was expecting more seating. The change rooms are laid out well and connects both ice surfaces. During our practice a team warming up for their game on the other ice surface had a really loud warm up that was distracting but I'm sure that's an isolated occurence. A little cold but still wore shorts

Legendary Arena. The showers are hands down the best in the city, but please do wear sandals. Shower water temperatures can be adjusted to the equivalent of lava if that is your thing, or as cold as the mighty River North Saskatchewan in December. Water pressure will not disappoint.

Shout out to Kenny, the previous rink-hand-Zamboni driver. An absolute artisan of ice making. Not sure where he is right now, but I hope he is well. I picture him with his sick duster laying poolside, Mexico, with a case of Corona on ice listening to The Eagles Greatest Hits. Perhaps him and the new ownership didn't see eye to eye, or perhaps the younger Zamboni drivers pushed him out as they were tired of being outperformed.

If you got a beer league game, bring your kid's skates along for a sharpening and pick them up after your game. The skate sharpener guy has unreal flow and always loves to talk Oil. Do not discuss Nurse's contract- Judging from the very fair skate sharpening prices, he hates overpayment.
I’m playing west van this year and so excited to play in such a good facility. In the past years when I have played there the staff is very friendly and the change rooms are very clean and nice.
As my buddy Tony The Tiger (Frosted Flakes cereal) once said, "This place is GRRRRRREAT!".
And so do I.
Great rink. Brought my daughter for her first time on skates.
Great little rinks for smaller groups!
Most of the time the ice isn't really that good
Great training rink and ice is in excellent condition! Would highly recommend this place for some small group or private training.

Pretty good facility. Easy to navigate, decent sized change rooms. Ice quality was very poor though. We played on rink 4 and calling it pond ice would be disrespectful to nature's beauty.
Great space for ice hockey and general purpose space. Also has a kitchen if needed and is very spacious.
Hidden gem training facility.

I registered for Play to Learn but was told my group was combined with Play to Develop participants; I found the drills too challenging as I'm just learning to play hockey. It would have been helpful if a note was made on the registration page so one is fully aware of what they're signing up for. As for the lessons, instructors were nonetheless friendly, encouraging, and were willing to adapt the exercises based on skill levels.
Best rink in etobicoke 👍

I really don't like this place.
Miscommunication between staffs were awful.

At first day of lesson, we were 2 minutes late due to horrible traffic jam to get there(We were caught in the car for 30 min). And suddenly encountered ridiculous Mobile Health Check Request. To do that, My kid lost 11 minutes more. They never let my daughter came in first. Lesson time is only 30 minutes, we could attend only for 17 minutes.
We go Delbrook Recreation Center, West Vancouver Community Center, Harry Jeromme Recreation Center, but any of them has no such thing like Mobile Health Check Request which has to be done every time we go. And when I said I've never heard this process when I enrolled, an old lady said they have sent an email just a day before that day with grumpy voice, so I checked my email account and even spam folder but there was no such an email. And one staff told us to go to changing room 8, and another staff told us to go to changing room 5. They were really confused themselves.

The second day we went, when I wanted to come in again to pick up my kid, a young woman said I could wait at the side gate instead of letting me in. Of course my kid didn't know where to go, so she was searching for me everywhere with her skates on. I wondered, every other parents came out of there with there kids, why did she ask me to wait at the side door?only to me?

On the third day, I waited my daughter at the side gate like she said a week ago, this time I told my daughter where to meet me. But she was scolded by an old woman like, 'Where's your mom?Did you come in to the arena with your skates on?You can't go outside with your skates on'. I told the woman, a young woman told me to wait here, but she said that's because I was in the wrong line,so she could have thought my kid is in the other class. No! That's was not my fault! I was in the right line which is for North Van Rec Center! They could make mistakes, but they never admit it.

On fourth day when it's time for pickup, a man said I could wait in the hallway because it was still 4 minutes left. So I was in the hallway, he even followed me and made sure I was in the right place, but right after then a woman came to me talking, 'You can't be here. You should be in the changing room' I told her a man told me to wait in the hallway, but she repeated the same thing.

And today, I saw a family was waiting in the hallway, but no staff told them they couldn't be there. What????

I don't know gathering in a small changing room is better than waiting in the hallway.
Everybody here says different thing whenever I go there.
I would never let my daughter take lesson which takes place at this place.
The owner installed strict measures in these times of Covid 19. He personally was in the building controlling traffic and making sure everyone was following protocol.
Thanks for caring.
Great facility. Well managed.
Two good small ice surfaces.

Great place to host a party for kids and adults. Our first experience was great, my son was invited to a birthday and had an amazing time. He loved the laser tag, bowling and the games room. He loved it so much that we have booked his birthday party there. The prices are reasonable and the location is central so convenient for everyone. We would definitely recommend Rinx!

We celebrated my grandson's birthday, at Rinx. We booked the ball hockey rink and had a blast with both kids and adults participating. Rinx supplied the plastic ball and plastic hockey sticks so it is less likely that anyone will be hurt.

There are a variety of venues available with something to suit all ages and sports themes. For example, the ball hockey rink became a soccer field for the next party. A full list of activities will be on their web site.

They have a number of party rooms, where food is available to be served after the main activity. The room we had easily accomodated 20 people with chairs and tables. They provided all the plates, glasses, cutlery and napkins.

Rinx is a great place for a kids birthday where they can be active, blow off some steam, make a bit of noise and have fun together.

Firstly, for anyone who's never been there, the arena is tucked behind the hotel. It's difficult to find for first-timers. The arena itself is typical of older arenas in the city. It's certainly showing its age, however it does the job. Make certain to lock up valuables or the dressing room though, as theft is not uncommon here. Ice surface is well maintained, but it's a cold arena; don't be surprised if your feet are cold by the time you finish. Ice times seem to be booked commonly for 1.25 hours, rather then one hour, which is typical of other arenas.

Ice is kept in very good shape. It's an older facility and they've done the best they can considering it's a small facility. The change rooms are very small. Parking is a big issue here. There is room to expand the parking lot and this is badly needed.

Ice is well maintained, but it's an older arena, with the small locker rooms typical of the age. But it's been updated inside (waterbottle filler, hand dryers) and is kept pretty clean. Parking is often in short supply, and the viewing area is pretty small (but big enough, and there are heaters for spectators). Don't be surprised if the candy machine steals your money.

Had to update because hey they did! Now there's four rinks! And most of them have been cleaned up.
Sadly they closed quickest route, the south entrance, to Rink 2. But it's not bad.
Rink 3 and 4 are by the west entrance and Rink 1 is by the north entrance but you can follow their maze and find any rink.

It's a big facility and during the evenings, there seems to be very little staff that goes around. I get it. Rinks ice condition is decent but lockers are usually full of things on the floor. What amazes me the most however is that rink 2 (for ex.) only has URINALS in the change rooms. As if female players didn't exist! Yes there are other common bathrooms but you have to get out of the rink space. My teammate always feels like the water pressure in the showers 🚿 is terrible. If anyone is listening. 🏒

Older barn with no frills. Rooms are medium sized, bathrooms are tiny. Ice is usually pretty good, but on-ice lighting could be a lot better. Showers are a bright spot - always tons of hot water and great pressure. Parking can be a pain if there is an event next door at Union Hall.
I registered my son in one of the summer Multi Sport Day Camps, one week for $365, included lunch. The program guide indicated skating as one of the activities, no mention that you have to own your own skates. I thought this was a great camp, he would get to try a variety of activities in a safe environment. The Friday before the start of the camp, I receive a standard email from the camp instructor, guess what, turns out if you don't own skates, you cannot skate and would have to do another activity. Okay, I wasn't happy but I figured the kids would get to swim, since they have a pool but no, the alternate activity was coloring, 2 hours sitting in a cold rink colouring! I sent an an email with my concerns, no response or acknowledgement.
I was not impressed, and I won't be registering at NSWC again, no follow up to my email, and my son didn't have a great time. It's not worth the $$$, and the program guide is misleading. There are better choices and options available on the North Shore.

****Thank you Kim Hirji for the immediate follow up and call with regards to this posting. I appreciated your explanation and that you plan to make your brochure clearer moving forward. Your call made all the difference and we will indeed try NSWC again for further camps**** Thanks!

Chairs are uncomfortable to watch a whole game in, needs more padding for sure. The food is alright, some items taste very frozen. They serve beer and wine which is great, and the staff is very nice.
The guy that runs the tennis lessons thinks he owns the entire park, all the time. He told my friends and I we couldn't park there because he "leased the parking lot"
Wow, there aren't exactly people lining up to park there... or to take his lessons lol! Naw, I'm sure he's fantastic and patient
