Great museum with some well selected exhibits and only a couple of suggestions:
A. Space Design - Beautifully designed space but could be better used to accommodate a larger number of exhibits.
B. Museum store - The store has a good mix of products and after we left, we wanted to get another item we saw there but there is no online version of the store. The online store could be a good revenue source for the museum during the holidays,
Enjoyed it and worth a visit.

It's not an affordable park, but it's very nice (you need to be physically prepared, as there are many hours of walking). But the trip was very worth it. But I loved being in the century before last.
What a welcoming place to go! A lovely environment where you learn a lot about Markham and our communities! Thank you Lisa and Scott for your guidance during my visit!
Due to the time of year, it was closed but we were able to walk the grounds. Beautiful spot. Will have to return.
It is a great place to experience the old times in Canada. You can see couple of people with old outfits to help you absorb the vibe.

What a great find! My wife and I spent a fun, rainy afternoon exploring the many levels and spaces at The Montreal Arts Center/Museum. The guided headphone tour is narrated by Allan Diamond, the founder and artistic director, who we also got to meet in person and talk to. The eclectic rooms/galleries run the gamut from outsider art, fine arts, antiques to jewelry. I even loved the beautiful wallpapers! Well worth an “off the beaten path” visit.
Located in a beautiful historic building, this non-profit community art center offers so many amazing things. It also has so much warmth and charm.
The piano bar on street level is cozy and classy and the larger event space upstairs is perfect for private and company parties, fundraisers and exhibitions.
There are many art and music events happening here monthly. Themed holiday parties and live music events are always amazing.
Performers and musicians are often booked for special events in the three bars.
The museum is very interesting as well. The permanent private collection includes International, local and regional art, artifacts, photos, paintings and articles.
They also provide studio spaces for artists to rent and host drawing and paint classes.
As well there is a small movie theatre that often shows classic and popular movies and is also available for private screenings and events.
If you live in the neighbourhood or are visiting, I highly recommend a visit.

I was here last night on a group tour, most kids in third grade would have remembered pioneer village.
But at night it was definitely different.
The lovely Kent from haunted tours, took us around stopping at select houses and telling us the backstories and occurrences that have happened. Or so they say....
The one house I felt my chest get heavy and a slight headache was the Maser house. Located across the cemetery. Listen carefully to the story and be careful during your visit.
All in all , it was a good walk and cool ro see the village. I recommend it.

We visited during a weekday at the end of the season, when it was closed. This means we missed out on some of the immersion into history. Special arranges had been made for our group of 20 from Arizona! Thank you! The Guide was fantastic! She was enthusiastic, well versed in all of the details. This is a great place for imagining history!
It was so entertaining. This museum beautifully captures the essence of the 18 century, showcasing the lifestyles, houses, and jobs of that era. A fascinating journey into history! Well organized.
Awesome and budget friendly place and a must for those exploring Prince George. All the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, what I loved about it was the amount of items put out for everyone to interact with. There were skulls in the play area! Best is that this is a not-for-profit so you get the best experience and it shows.

This park is one of my favourite places in Calgary. Rich in history. The only problem I have is that one of the staff members wasn’t pleasant but the other great staff members and the experience far outweigh the negatives. I’d definitely recommend coming here!

Le musée s est transformé en un temple dédié à la propagande LGBT + religion covidiste (l'origine du COVID 19 serait le pangolin...qui y croit encore ?) + religion du réchauffement climatique. Un charabia incompréhensible sur des cartels avec un nouveau concept d'identités fluides ou poreuses sensées nous aider à composer avec la crise climatique ? Voir image ci jointe.

Had a great tour of the art center! A brilliant hidden gem. Completely unassuming from the outside and totally not what you'd expect on the inside!
This wonderful place gives you a great idea how the pioneers and early immigrants live in Toronto area. The Stong family (came to Canada 🇨🇦 from Ireland during the potato famine in 1830-40s) houses, tinsmith, blacksmith, printing shop, physician house, local hotel and brewery are all to be seen in this beautiful place. Tickets cost $18 per adult. Parking is extra. There is a shop to buy some souvenirs.
Lovely museum with thoughtful exhibits and beautiful architecture. We purchased our tickets online and didn't realize that we needed to print our stickers upon arrival - the location to do so did not feel intuitive.
We spent most of our time in the "C'est notre histoire" exhibit featuring aboriginal history from Québec and across Canada. Having learned about Anishinaabe migration stories from Northern Michigan and Minnesota, and recently read "A Council of Dolls" - historical fiction about North American Indian schools designed to strip indigenous children's culture and language from them - the stories, videos, and artifacts felt all the more poignant and resonated with this Minnesotan visitor. Highly recommend a visit.

The current exhibition of the museum is about Transportation and Chinese culture. There are plenty of interactive exhibits yet there are only few visitors, so you can easily experience these exhibits without needing to queue for them. Extremely suitable for families with children who likes playing with interactive exhibitions.
There is also an outdoor area with guided tour at 2pm, where there are many old houses. Visitors can immerse themselves with the early lifestyles of the pioneers of Markham.
After all, the admission of the museum is only $7 which is not expensive when compared with other museums in Toronto. This museum is highly recommended.

There is a nice exhibit about the First People of Quebec. There is an exhibit about gender and one about climate change. This is 33% museum and 66% something else. 1% is for the lobby and coat room. Expensive for the experience.

Très étonnant, de supers expositions vraiment intéressantes. Surtout celle sur le recyclage etc, c'était pas culpabilisant et axé sur les solutions, parfait. La boutique est fantastique.
Quaint little museum . Lots of interactive things for kids. Beware of live coyotes and snakes on the property
Absolutely awesome experience!! Check hours before you go but do not miss this. They are only operating in the summer. Live demonstrations of local work. Tour of the homes on-site.
Did the life drawing session tonight and it was fantastic. It was my first time ever doing a life drawing class and definitely not the last! Ian was really kind and helpful with some tips beforehand and I’m really inspired to continue to learn more about drawing and art in general after this experience.

The houses are small and the village isn't so big but there are benches along the way you can sit and enjoy an afternoon.

Most of the park was closed by the time I arrived so I explored the lake and walked the trail to see if I could catch a good sunset which never came 🙃 I drove 6.5 hours the day before so needed a more low key day. The next time I am in the area, I definitely want to check it out when it's open. It looks like a pretty cool spot. There was clear bottom kayaks out in the water from a tour company also.
We've been here many times but it is still enjoyable. The kids (teenager and beyond) still enjoy the outing. Watching the 'free run' chickens was very enjoyable. They seemed very happy. The Billy goat enjoyed her rake message. The sheep is very friendly. We visited the different houses and the attendant tells a good history, but the barn animals are so alluring.

Avec notre prix d'entrée, nous avions droit à la visite de 2 des expositions du musée en attente des feux. Nous avons opté pour la formule boite a lunch (il y avait aussi la formule repas 5 services à l'intérieur). Nous nous sommes installés sur le toit du musée tôt pour avoir une bonne vue sur le fleuve et les feux d'artifices. Nous sommes entrés vers 19h00, avons mangé, visité les 2 expositions et assisté au feux. Sur le toit du musée, un minibar est installé pour prendre quelques breuvages et passer le temps. Malheureusement, il n'y a pas de place assise pour tout le monde, mais ils sortent quelques chaises afin que quelques personnes puissent s'asseoir et sinon on peut toujours se tourner vers les marches qui offrent une vue tout aussi belle avec le confort en moins par contre...
En ce qui concerne le repas boite a lunch...oufff! je n'ai jamais mange quelque chose d'aussi bon et de très haute qualité dans une boite a lunch...gracieuseté "Le Quarante 7".

Photographer and film director Joannie Lafrenière brings out a beautiful, lively and diverse story, told in photos, of an ever changing neighborhood and the simple life of local characters.

What a great place to get a feel for traditional lifestyles in this part of the world. Started off with lunch in the museum store (local dish, Rappie pie - either you like it or you don't). Tour consists o two salvaged houses (with backstories on the original owners), an old post office, a blacksmith (with a functioning forge), a boat shop (dorries under construction), a fish factory (hand made salt cod - tasty), and a fish shanty (equipment storage and repair). The docents were exceptional with personal knowledge of the area and the times depicted. Lot of fish tales, so to speak. Well worth the time, especially on a beautiful day.
There are some old houses they moved from other places. They are only open during guided tours.
There was only one exhibit my son enjoyed. He was also interested in the activities in the lab downstairs, the staff explained all the stations but he needed someone to show him the activities for the first few minutes. We did not stay long.

Hadn't visited yet but when family came in from out of town decided to check it out. Lots to see here and we'll laid out. Interesting to see the changes that have taken place over time and the history of the region. Natural history is a favourite of mine and this is well presented here. I now plan to keep an eye on the temporary exhibits and follow up with the ones that interest me.
It's an incredible place not to be missed on your visit to Calgary. The area has been kept like it jade been in the early 20th century and certain things have been added to raise the atmosphere of that period.
You can easily spend the future day in the village as the place is huge. There is a train going around the village that you should not miss. Also, the half-hour horse ride where you will get to know the details of the place from the guide is very interesting.
Make sure that you go here on a sunny day as you will be walking a lot outside.

Wow great tour by Kaidi I think her name was. She was so attentive and let us ask as many questions as we wanted.
This was my first time visiting and I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. It was amazing! If you love history and want to be submersed in the past, this is the place for you. Completely family friendly. Be prepared to come back as there's no way to see even a fraction of everything.
Très belle expérience avec ma famille , surtout l exposition des premières nations et et aussi l exposition scientifique, ma fille été très contente de faire son avatar en 3d , l endroit et très beaux à voir , aussi l exposition pour les enfants et trop le fun , je me suis bien amusé , faut avoir une journée au complet pour faire toute les exposition, le personnels et super accueillents et sont très gentille aussi , si vous cherchez une activité à la fois scientifique, histoire, jeux, et découvertes, c est vraiment la bonne place .
This place is huge- it could easily fill an entire day with everything from automobile collections, pioneer life, and coal mining as well as a really well done old-fashioned midway. I enjoyed the fact everything was included in the admission. We also ate at a really nice restaurant there- the food was perfect. And if you want to ride the train, a tractor pulled cart or horse pulled carriage you are in luck!

The first floor exhibit was an amazing overview about the past injustices against the Indigenous in Canada but also a hope for the future. 2nd floor was a photo journey of the history of Montreal. Very well done. Some multimedia displays done in English and French, all w captions. No audio needed, however QR codes provide more text to follow along w some of the video:
Well worth a visit to learn a little of Ottawa's history. Staff very helpful and friendly. Check the opening days and hours before visiting.
An interesting museum like a town to visit old houses.
My kids and I used to thoroughly enjoy this museum. On our latest trip back to our hometown of Prince George, we decided to stop in and reminisce. This was the most disappointing $50 I ever spent. No play structure, no little jail, no little theatre. My kids were not interested in anything being offered, and I couldn't blame them. I really feel this place went from a 10, to a 2. So sad!

Enjoyed a great day at the Bytown Museum celebrating Colonel By Day! Interacted with costumed characters, explored the 3 levels, did a scavenger hunt, learned some history of the area, and watched the rideau canal locks in action! Great place to visit!
This museum is truly remarkable, especially the "Indigenous Voices of Today" exhibition. It beautifully portrays indigenous people's wisdom, resilience, and the impact of historical trauma. This exhibition is playing a crucial role in fostering support and allies for Indigenous nations.
My family went there today and we learned so much about Markham history. Ms. Cadi is excellent tour guide. We also played the mini putt . We have a good time. We will come back again!

So much history beautiful displayed. Well worth a visit. We found all seven cards!
A LOT smaller than I expected. It's just four buildings, three of which are just the size of small rooms.
There wasn't much to see, and the current exhibit kind of took over the museum itself, making it less meaningful overall.
Thomson Park nearby was enjoyable to walk through though, which kind of makes up for the lackluster museum visit.

A fairly small but wonderfully curated museum, with a focus on local history and artists and really thoroughly designed exhibits. When I visited, the historical women's fashion exhibit and the 50's through 70's galleries were wonderful and well worth the trip.
You won't need too long to see the entire museum, which is only one floor. Maps are available at the front desk but you may need to request one.

This place was fascinating. It covered a not very well understood part of history and it made it real. The staff of living history interpreters were very knowledgeable. The preserved old buildings were amazing.
This is a brilliant little gem of a museum in a great location. It shares an entrance with HR MacMillan Space Centre behind the giant crab sculpture. The museum excells in celebrating First Nations stories and the social history of Vancouver - typically an undervalued history.
The museum deserves 5 stars but is weirdly domestic. The whole thing feels slightly unfinished and is a long way from polished. It's unfortunate because it devalues some of the seriously excellent exhibitions. There are random storage cupboards left open and when we visited the "gift shop" was just a couple of racks behind some rope. It's as if it's run by a committee who have some great idea but no time to properly see them through. This small issue aside - definitely worth a visit.

Great place to learn more about the history. When I walked in, it felt like stepping into the Netflix series "Wednesday"!

The people who work here are so welcoming and informative. My child had lots of fun learning about Acadians. A great time travel experience.
I loved its permanent exhibition “Indigenous voices of today”. It combined artefacts and testimonies and really amplifies Indigenous voices. It’s organized through different perspectives of the Indigenous lives, past and present. I especially enjoyed the photographs in the section on child-rearing. The presentation is easy to follow and the quotes concise and vivid. The gift store has a lovely collection of cards, jewelries and books. Staff is very friendly. Highly recommended!
Came here to do a nude painting. Was hoping for a girl, but the guy was nonetheless very talented and held very interesting poses. Everyone was super nice as well. Looking to come back again soon

The slides for the microscope you can't see the labels or the objects.
The exhibit details are labelled, but the objects are not visibly labelled with a corresponding number or how the object was used. This would have been a better experience. The print was small and hard to read. An example was the herbarium. We were not provided a stylus. There was a lot of missed opportunity for knowledge sharing.
It was pretty boring and I could have gotten better education elsewhere and the kids could have played with the same toys for free or for more affordable elsewhere.
I miss the science kits and more interactive learning opportunities.

No admission fee, and no guided tours- I only could see the ground floor, the rest of the museum is not open. No one was there to answer questions in case you have one.

Set in the 1860's and overall a great experience.
Some things to note:
You can get a discount for parking so bring your parking ticket with you when you go inside to buy the ticket for the village. At the counter you can ask them to add parking and they give it to you for a bit cheaper.
It did seem a bit deserted on a Sunday and a lot of the places did not have any people in them to guide you. It was if they were opening them slowly even though it was 1pm and they close at 4pm.
There are not a lot of food options there so bring snacks! They do sell cookies and bread there but it was expensive. For example, it was $1 per cookie as it is freshly made. It is hard to find water there so it is better to bring a water bottle with you.
It would take a total of 2 hours to go through everything.

You can get a discount for parking so bring your parking ticket with you when you go inside to buy the ticket for the village. At the counter you can ask them to add parking and they give it to you for a bit cheaper.
It did seem a bit deserted on a Sunday and a lot of the places did not have any people in them to guide you. It was if they were opening them slowly even though it was 1pm and they close at 4pm.
There are not a lot of food options there so bring snacks! They do sell cookies and bread there but it was expensive. For example, it was $1 per cookie as it is freshly made. It is hard to find water there so it is better to bring a water bottle with you.
It would take a total of 2 hours to go through everything.
Visited here on a weekend. This museum did touch my heart deeply. It has a lot of tales on indigenous people who tried to escape, save themselves. It tells a lot of the people living in the olden times, the things they used or wore. There is a beautiful gallery of paintings of scenaries. In the last part there is a place to sit and enjoy the show depicting the photographs. Really calming and peaceful.
Really cool museum! Happy to see there is no fee for general admission. Open Wednesdays to Sundays now from 11- 4 I think. 2 buildings open for viewing when I went. No wait when I went on Sunday just around noon. Had a partial guided tour and got to wander around for the rest of it. Would be great if they could get the stove going again or the ice cream maker. Understand covid has changed things but it would certainly enhance the experience. If you get a chance you should go!
Great location for arts and artifacts. Easy to move around and explore the exhibitions because there are screens with videos explaining the arts. Easy accessibility for baby strollers and seniors

J'ai également trouvé intéressant de faire un clin d'oeil aux luttes pour la reconnaissance et les droits de la communauté LGBTQIA2S+. Belle exposition à voir pour tous les âges!

I have been to the MOV a few times before, and I have always enjoyed it. I love the 25 cents jukebox! I also love the historic town. This time, I went specifically for Dressed for History. The exhibit was interesting. I would have loved to see more dresses from different cultures/eras, but I guess it would be a much bigger exhibit.
This museum was a great experience 😃 at the reception, you get a display of dinosaur skeletons #fake 🦖🦕 but still a lot realistic on proportions and detailed. Mr PG is always a pleasure to see 🙈 as well as checking on his story, at least for the metal version, which was lost for about 10 years 😞, but it found its way back 🏠

Only one house was open when my family visited on May 21. It is unfortunate because it took over 30 minutes to find a parking spot. While admission and parking is free, it really wasn’t too worthwhile to drive and find parking here. I saw other pictures before going and was hoping to see more but the other houses were locked up. The only saving feature was the playground beside the museum. This is where we spent most of our time.
Slightly smaller museum but very well laid out and the exhibits are wonderful. Only warning is the bathrooms downstairs are very old and dirty. The small garden on the lower floor is cute.
Visiting from Vancouver. Was there for a good 2 hours. It was a small place but still filled with lots of good display of art and exhibitions. Must visit when you are in Montreal. It is very close to McGill University. Also close to food and coffee. I also like the gift shop. Bought a very nice tea cup which is hand made in Vancouver.
It is a bit like the Shanghai Minhang District Museum where you used to live, but the indoor pavilion part is much smaller in scale and the collection is mostly household items.
But the special thing is that there are many old houses placed in the park, just like the Black Creek Village.

My overall experience was very informative. There are many artifacts ranging from First Nations culture to the late 20th century. While there are many virtual displays, there are a ton of word based information so be prepared to read a lot if you want to make the most from here. The atmosphere was peaceful, front counter service was good and the fee is reasonable. Just note that parking here will cost you.
Looking at old photos, I just found out that I went here like 10 years ago during university, I need to write an essay, and I chose Scarborough Museum. Went here with TTC, a great location. I kind of remember there was a lady explaining detail to us. At last, I donated $20 XD which was all the money I had at that time.
Great for kindergarten kids and up, less so for those with preschoolers. Good to see the travelling exhibit space on the lower floor, makes it really easy to get to and navigate. Local artists and authors showcased in the gift shop. Have a family membership will definitely be back.
I went to Thomson Memorial Park for BBQ, found this museum in the heart of the park unexpectedly . You can find four heritage buildings that make up Scarborough Museum. The Cornell House is the main building, good too see the Canadian life in the 1800 . The McCowan Log House was moved to here. The Hough Carriage Works Hut is worth to visit, you can see many different kinds of tools.
This place is fun and interactive, a treasure hunt on the self-guided audio tour. Modern and classical art with eclectic rooms and very interesting acquisitions. I recommend this as a place for all ages, for anyone interested in art. Take a Bixi ride off the beaten path, good to combine with a visit to the market and arsenal art contemporain. Worth the $12 entry.
Friendly staff and a cute little shop to swing by as you move along the water. Staff have alot of knowledge. If you can't make it there is a 3d tour with alot of info also available.
We had our wedding photos done here and it was a fantastic choice. Not only were there several great locations for photos but our guide (Mike) was incredibly friendly and helpful. There is a cost to take pictures here, but it was very much worth it.
Centre d'art de Montreal is the first art centre that I visit, I have finished my portfolio of University here.
They have nice place for musician and artist, I have seen so much great product here. There is also a cafeteria for artists.

The animators were so generous and friendly. Don’t miss this stop! Whether you are a history buff or a science fan, or you are trying to amuse your family. Something for everyone! Definitely stop at the cafe.
Went for chile fire work show. The show was great which wasnt a direct reflection of the museum. But nice little museum. Entry was not organized well at all. No clear instructions either. Beutiful view on regular night as well.
The museum consists of a few houses but the nicest thing is the park/trails attached to it. Kids playground (hard sand, mind you), nice trails and lots of big trees for shade. Water park area and leash free dog area too. Staff are indeed super friendly and helpful. No cafe so bring your own food/picnic lunches. Decent washroom facilities but not the cleanest.

A great place to learn about settlers and Canadian history. Very informative tours and very welcoming. They offered us baked apples and delicious apple cobbler. Also delicious warm apple cider. Really lovely park as well a lovely place to go with the family and parking available. Fantastic museum.

Exhibition offered a rich history of Ottawa/Bytown. My kid had a fun and educational time filling in their quiz while learning a little bit of local history. The stone house Is located at the lower locks of the Rideau canal with a beautiful backdrop of the Ottawa river. There is a charming cafe located inside the museum if you want a quick bite before or after your visit.
Terrific place to visit with kids. It's not "science world" but it's a great value. Well maintained exhibits, friendly staff, eclectic variety, and young kids have a blast in the play area.
