Das neue Berliner Schloss by night. Ehemaliger Sitz der Könige von Preußen. Heute Sitz des Humboldt Forums. Sehr beeindruckend.

Ich habe nun endlich auch einmal dem Schloss einen Besuch abgetastet und werde es so schnell wohl nicht wieder tun.
2 Sterne für die historisierende Fassade.
Innen seelenlose moderne Architektur inklusive Rolltreppen.
Ich hintersteige das Konzept nicht. Da wäre der Palast der Republik an der Stelle historisch gehaltvoller.
400 Millionen Euro für den hübschen historischen Anschein und sämtliche Emotionen abtötende Betonromantik.

Berühmtes ethnologisches Museum mit einer riesigen Sammlung in drei hübschen Villen, dem aber die Ausstellungsfläche fehlt.

It was one of my most interesting museum visits lately! The museum building is stunning, it houses amazing collections and - most interestingly - is now undergoing a process of reinvention of how they are presented. The effects are really impressive! Highly recommended both for museum geeks as well as regular visitors!

A fascinating collection of historically interesting instruments! Enjoyed the interactive sound system (you can select short sound clips of a piece and have it play for the whole room).
There are no english panels in most rooms but not a big deal since you can translate things easily by smartphone.

Heute zum ersten Mal dieses Museum besucht. Nette Einlass Dame. Was etwas genervt hat die Eintrittskarten immer breit zuhalten da die Ausstellung über drei Stockwerke verteilt ist. Schön für kleine Kinder so 5-9 Jahre immer Stempel zu suchen und dabei Wissenwertes zu erfahren. Interessante Austellung, können wir weiter empfehlen.

Die aktuelle Ausstellung "Klangquellen" erfreut mit ungewöhnlichen Klangerlebnissen die Besucher, auch für die Enkel im Grundschulalter war es eine spannende Erfahrung und kurzweilig.

It’s a very interesting museum and part of 1€ entrance on Sundays. I used audio guide in the app and it was easy and useful. It’s also children friendly. The only thing I would improve is translating some of the objects descriptions into English (some were in German only).

Very interesting exhibits. Friendly staff. It is very convenient that there is an elevator for those who have difficulty climbing the stairs. We will definitely come back again. Outerwear is left in the wardrobe, things are not cared for in any way.

Wir waren mit den Kindern dort (6 und 9 Jahre) und haben uns gemeinsam auf die "Spurensuche" begeben. Mittels Audiodateien über's Smartphone und einem Begleitheft konnten die Kinder sich geführt durch die Ausstellung bewegen und an entsprechend eingerichteten Stationen einen Stempel abholen. Mit den gesammelten Stempeln gab es dann am Ende an der Kasse eine kleine Überraschung. Das Ganze ist sehr schön und liebevoll gemacht und hat unseren Kindern viel Freude bereitet. Um die gesamte Spurensuche entspannt zu durchlaufen und die dazugehörigen Audios anzuhören sollte man mindestens 2 Stunden einrechnen, besser etwas mehr Zeit mitbringen, denn auch abseits der Spuren gibt es hier viel interessantes und beeindruckendes zu entdecken.

Die Ausstellung ist sehr sehr schön eingerichtet und mei Sohn (5 Jahre) würde gerne da bleiben. Nicht für Kleinere Kinder. Schwierig ist es wenn man mit kleineren Kindern unterwegs ist und man nichts zu trinken oder einen Rucksack mitnehmen darf.

Tolles Museum, sehr interaktiv. Die 4€ Eintritt sind absolut gerechtfertigt. Ich habe in 2 Stockwerken 3h verbracht und noch nicht alles geschafft. Ich empfehle daher pro Tag eine Etage anzuschauen, für alle die auch gern (fast) alles lesen und anschauen wollen. Das Personal, die Securitys waren alle sehr nett.

Eine sehr schöne interkulturelle, durchdachte Austellung , die die Musik anderer Leute in anderen Lebenswelten wunderbar anschaulich kreativ erfahrbar macht. Diese Ausstellungstechnik, die das sinnliche Verstehen als Methode hat, hat den Kolonialismus und Neokolonialismus besiegt. Der Blick der Betrachterinnen und der Betrachterin wird nie sensationalistisch exotisiert, das gemeinsame Menschliche ist immer das Leitmotiv.

👍Toller Ort, ich habe einen Nachmittag damit verbracht, ihn zu besuchen.

Unserem Sohn haben die Exponate sehr gut gefallen. Auch das Stempelbuch war nett.
Die Ausstellungsräume sind schön gestaltet und die Kunstgegenstände zum Teil sehr schön.
An sich ist es thematisch ja wirklich schwierig. Wie geht man mit diesem "Raubgut" um. Das merkt man an jeder Ecke. Man scheint sich dafür zu schämen. Zeigen will man es trotzdem. Aber deshalb weist man eben drauf hin, dass die Abbildung eines Marktes kein echter Markt ist, sondern ein Abbild eines deutschen Modellbauers. Dass man Teile der Kunstgegenstände wieder an die Ursprungsländer zurückgegeben hat und diese jetzt für die Ausstellung ausgeliehen sind. (Da liest man ja auch wilde Geschichten von Frau Baerbock.) Den Betonboden des Tempels darf man nicht mehr mit Schuhen betreten, weil jetzt plötzlich Respekt wichtig ist. Gegendert wird natürlich auch wie wild, natürlich, man will in keine Fettnäpfchen treten. Typisch deutsch, Hauptsache auf dem Papier sieht's gut aus. Alles andere Wurst. Das sieht man dann im Museumsshop, wo man auf den Boden der Tatsachen zurück geholt wird, wenn die Dame meint: die Afrikaner hätten ja nichts zu tun und so viel Zeit, deshalb würden die das Spielzeug hier schnitzen...

The Berlin Palace is not merely a visit but an immersive journey through time, awaiting the curious and the scholarly.

Moderne Architektur mit Originalteilen das alten Stadtschlosses. Kann man drüber diskutieren, wie auch über den Abriss des Palastes der Republik der hier vorher stand. Der Ausblick von der Dachterrasse ist aber durchaus beeindruckend.

Don't miss the current exhibition on the Benin bronzes at the Weltkulturenlabor. It's a great opportunity to see some of the Benin bronzes from the collection. There is also a thorough documentation of the debate around the repatriation of these relics. Importantly, the exhibition addresses the slave trade origin of many of these bronzes which were made from melted manillas that the Kingdom of Benin obtained in exchange for captives they sold to European transatlantic slave traders. The Restitution Study Group, which is mentioned in the exhibition, has been advocating for joint ownership of the relics by the DNA descendants of the enslaved captives and Nigeria respectively the Oba of Benin.

You start by seeing pieces of art from Islamic countries and as you walk you see fabulous African headpieces and statues and cultural information about Asia and India and then Africa and South America. The only surprise was that SOME of the labels AND even display boards were only in German and they said they plan to translate all to English. There are benches here and there to sit on. They have a back door entrance for wheelchair. The staff were very friendly.

Ein gewaltiger Bau. Von außen romantisch verspielt und von innen mega modern. Mit riesigen Rolltreppen, hohen Decken und Fahrstühlen, wovon einer zur Dachterrasse mit Café fährt.
Oben auf dem Dach kann man wunderbar spazieren und bei schönem Wetter eine fantastische Aussicht genießen.
Die Ausstellungsräume beherbergen viele Schätze auf mehreren Etagen und im Untergeschoss die Berliner Ausgrabungstätte, welche beim U Bahn Bau entdeckt wurde.
Ein Ort für vielerlei Interessenten.

In den 50'ern abgerissen und dafür an dieser Stelle den Palast der Republik gebaut, der musste dann wieder weg... Asbest als Begründung zu nehmen war einfach lächerlich da in ganz Deutschland Asbest als Brandschutz und Baumaterial verbaut worden ist. Der Versuch das Schloss historisch wieder aufzubauen und mit neuen Stilelementen neuer Architektur zu verbinden ist doch meiner Auffassung grandios gescheitert. Schade um das Geld, mit den mehr als 700 Millionen hätte Berlin Besseres anfangen können. Die Pflaster- Wüste als Platz vor dem Schloss zur Straße hin ist eine Katastrophe. Die Ausstellungen sind künstlich gemacht und der Bezug zu dem alten Gebäude und zur Geschichte auf keinen Fall hergestellt. Für mich eine Enttäuschung...

Wir waren zu Besuch im Afrika Bereich und hatten eine Führung. Die Führung war gewissermaßen nicht sehr interessant. Da die Ausstellung vor ein paar Jahren renoviert wurde ist keine Verbesserung sondern eher eine Verschlimmerung da es jetzt sehr stumpf vorkommt und es auch keine wirkliche Atmosphäre ( wie in der alten Ausstellung gab) entstand. Insgesamt war der Museumsbesuch Sher mittelmäßig.

Es ist verständlich, dass die Ausstellung bewusst geschaffen wurde, um die Verbrechen des illegalen visuellen Terrorismus (Massenhypnose) als akzeptable Norm in der Gesellschaft zu rechtfertigen, sodass selbst die wenigen Exponate mit dem Inhalt von ausgezeichnetem Geschmack (vielleicht Japan und Ton) kein Gutes schaffen Gefühl des Genusses.
Verschiedene organisierte Religionen mit manipulativen spirituellen Entwicklungsprogrammen für falschen Frieden und falsche Toleranz sind ebenfalls förderlich für den im Wesentlichen verschwindenden parasitären Mechanismus, weshalb diese Ausstellung weltlicher Kunst ebenfalls förderlich ist.

Es ist eben kein altes Schloß, innen sehr modern, nur die Fassade sieht aus wie ein Schloß. Ich schaue mir da lieber richtig schöne alte Schlösser an, die haben wenigstens den alten Charme eines Schlosses.

It's a cultural museum concentrating on Tamil culture and traditions. Audio guides were provided. But having a translator is recommended if you don't read German. Google translate would work. Must visit. Fee was 12€ per person.

The New Display of the Ethnology Museum seems to have more to do with moder day politics than with culture. I was lucky to see a small part of the old Display about Asian cultures, hence the two stars.

Muss ich nicht nochmal sehen. Ich hab gelesen von 100000 Objekten, doch wo sollen die alle sein? Schlecht ausgeschildert. Zu sehen gab es eigentlich nix, was für uns von Interesse war. 2 Sterne, da wir über den Kristallheilungsbaum, Tränen gelacht haben. Interessant vielleicht von Esoteriker/inen

This museum is a treasure.
You get to see different cultures by walking through the rooms after another.
What makes this experience more astonishing is the usage of local sounds in some areas via loud speakers. I got goosebumps just because of that.
Marvelous and memorable experience.

Neue Ausstellung 'Healing' auf 2 Stockwerken.

7 Künstler stellen ihre Interpretation des Begriffs 'Healing' vor.

Wir hatten eine Führung, die auch notwendig war, um alle Aspekte der Ausstellung wahrnehmen und verstehen zu können.

Es gab einige nach- und durchdenkenswerte Eindrücke.

Happy to learn different cultures from the five continents! This museum has quite a collection of arts and crafts which are well arranged in different continental and countries' theme in the form of social-economic cultures, wars, and people! It's centrally located in the city, hence hard to miss it!

Both the Museum of Musical Instruments and the Ethnology Museum are great! The Ethnology Museum is in a very interesting situation, as they transition how the present and discuss the past. Definitely thought provoking and great discussions about what a museum can and should be.

located in the middle of maximilianstrasse and with magnificent exterior. the entry is 1euro on sunday and it is very organized. you have the first floor for exhibition and trips of German historian to Japan and Myanmar and everything related to far east and India. on the other side you have artifacts from Orient and pacific tribes.
the second floor is for Africa, nord and sud America tribes and old civilizations. the tour took around 1.5 hours and will give you good information on people from different backgrounds. there's a brochure available at 3.5 euros for each continent to have all the missing information in your pocket.

The Museum of Five Continents is a smaller ethnographic museum that has uneven collections of ethnographic art and artifacts that have been assembled from various sources around the world by collectors from Munich. While the collections of the museum may not be as impressive as those found at larger and richer siblings, the place oozes charm. I was easily won over by the lack of pretense and the subtle messages of some of the exhibits. I was particularly impressed by the Burmese and Japanese exhibits and some of the wondrous African finds. If you live in Munich or are spending enough time in the city, don't miss it.

I don't usually like museums cause I think they can be quite boring, but I really enjoyed this one. I liked learning about different cultures and even if you don't want to read the information they provide about each piece/region, there's still lots of cool figures and masks to look at. Especially for €5 I definitely recommend it. It was interesting and only took us ~1 hour.

Das Museum ist in einer alten Villa am Mainufer untergebracht. Die Ausstellung ist über zwei Etagen, mit ausgewählten Stücken, verteilt und es gibt ein paar 'Mitmach-Stationen'. Die Mitarbeiter sind ausgesprochen freundlich. Sehr empfehlenswert.
Wenn man mit dem Auto kommt parkt man günstig im Parkhaus 'Alt-Sachsenhausen'.

Sehr schönes Museum/Forum, zentral in Stuttgart gelegen. Das Interieur ist modern aber dennoch passend. War für einen Vortrag dort und der Saal war groß genug, dass problemlos die Abstandsregeln eingehalten werden konnten.
Die Ausstellung im November 2021 bis Mai 2022 befasst sich mit Kolonialismus.

Second time I'm here, with a year gap inbetween, and it's great to return.
Although I had a fast round through the permanent exhibition this time, I still saw some stuff I missed last time, but mainly I enjoyed the current exhibitions, one about Bauhaus in Sachsen and the other about vases. They have a garden and a nice café, so you can really bring a wonderful half a day here and get a lot of inspiring images.

Nicely presented view of cultures from around the world .

This is my favorite museum in Leipzig!!! Great building, great collection!!! Love it!!! And i can learn a bit of deutsch worte there because not everything is translated in English but i prefer to see things in their original language!!

Beautiful exhibitions in three distinct parts. You can visit each one independently, or buy combined ticket for two or three parts. The main exhibition is quite large (takes more than three hours if you are thorough), so plan accordingly.
