Der BER ist ein relativ großer Flughafen. Er ist von der Front schön zu betrachten, besonders die riesige Glasfront. Der Bahnhof bzw. die Gleise unter dem BER sind eigentlich sauber und geruchsneutral (riecht nicht nach irgendwelchen Fikalien). Die Mitarbeiter vorort sind auch sehr nett und freundlich. Sie nehmen sich die seit für dich. Außerdem ist es auch ein guter Ort für „Plane-Spotter“ durch die Besucherplatform über ein paar Gates ist es perfekt und wenn man etwas herumläuft (draußen) am Zaun entlang kann man auch ohne Geld für die Besucherplatform Flugzeuge sehen. Alles in allem sehr schöner und guter Flughafen
Forced to travel to and from this airport on a regular basis, so far found nothing pleasant in it. Besides the common services available like in any other airport (WiFi, charging spots and some sits or tables around), none of the terminals has a decent food nor variety of it. After 19:30 you may find everything closed, and as long as some low-coasters are always delayed, you may end up with no even water for couple of hours (one or two of wending machines at the terminal 2 for example are not always working too).
While there is regular cleaning of the bathrooms it’s done quite poorly. And in general it is not very clean around. Together with the “design” of the airport you may feel like at some production factory.
Apparently new airport has some construction ongoing, on the open - not sure it is suitable for people to breathe construction dust from it.
The worst part is their security line, the worst amongst 20-30 other airports I visited, not even comparable. Not always but most of the times you find such a long queue at the security that may spend over an hour and a half there. It’s moving about 3-4 people only every 10 minutes at each “gate”, and even if there are plenty of people waiting they would not open additional ones, half and more would be just closed, maybe due to the lack of personnel. There are up to 9 (!!!) staff at each check line. Usually you don’t find more than 4-5, but this is Berlin. Depends on the mood of the stuff or if you don’t speak German, security stuff will nag a lot on you, humiliate or get you undressed until your under t-shirt, also in winter (happened to an older lady in front of me, they were threatening her with the police and not to let her take the plane - after destroying her bag and making her almost to cry).
An experience you could advise only to some young, strong willed people and with over stable psyche…

I have flown a couple times from or to this airport. The connection to trains is very good. You reach downstairs at the airport. Not a long way to T1. Though if you fly at night it is a very bad place to wait for your flight. When we reached 2.5 hours before our flight as we were alarmed to do because of a train strike everything was closed at the airport. No food or drink options except vending machines. Even the security line was still closed so you could not even go through security to relax before the flight. People were sleeping or sitting on the floor everywhere because there aren’t enough chairs. Other countries/airports are much more advanced even though BER is a new airport. In Delhi they had beds for people to lay on. Maybe that would be something BER could improve too.
After security opened at shortly after 4 am there are duty free shops. In T2 there is a bakery but not a lot of options. The service at the security was friendly, easy and quick. Bathrooms you find everywhere but I couldn’t find any tap water to fill bottles.

been to different airports, and can tell for sure, Berlin airport is one of the best in the world. There is not much shopping and entertainment, as it can be in some others, but as a transportation object it is perfect. Neat, comfortable, modern, clear. But keep in mind, there may be a line at security check, sometimes up to half an hour. But all the rest of the way to the plane is very simple and fast.

I am going to review only the infrastructure and not the service, due to almost in every airport you get the same bad service. First of all the place is kind of easy to reach, if you have a late night or an early morning flight like 4am, you can arrive in a regional train, and it will take you in around 30 minutes.
The infrastructure is really vintage, I am not a fan of this type of vintage. It looks like it was decorated in the 70s. It smells a bit of humidity and there are some walking belts broken (in reparations) at the times I've been there.
Overall is ok, but not very user friendly in most cases, due to the lack of accessibility and friendliness from the workers.

Ich empfehle allen Reisenden den BER Runway zu buchen, somit kam ich bisher immer nach 5-10 Min. Durch die Sicherheitskontrolle. Auch heute zum Vorfeiertag völlig problemlos und mit freundlichem Personal...

Am schlimmsten jedoch ist die An und Abreise Situation. Für so eine Menschenmasse so schmale Bahnsteige zu bauen. Wundert mich, dass nicht ständig Personen ins Gleisbett fallen. Ich vermisse Tegel. Der Flughafen war wenigstens zentral...

I found Berlin Airport better than Heathrow. Super modern airport with all the facilities. I can speak little German but I was pleasantly surprised that all signs were in German & English. Found my way out the airport very easily and hopped on a train which was just conveniently below the ground.
Overall nice, easy and exiting experience. can’t wait to return when our holiday ends.

I came to Berlin Airport 4 times. I love it here. Getting here is very easy. There are intercity bus stops very nearby. There is a metro station inside the airport. However, I had a problem at Berlin Airport last week. I went shopping in Berlin. I had a flight at 07:00 in the morning. When I went to the airport, I saw that the Taxfree office was closed. I went to the information office to ask about this issue. There was no one there either. Therefore, I did not get the tax refund. Berlin Airport is an important place. Authorized personnel must be available here 24 hours a day. Germans are known for their work discipline and planning. This situation surprised me. I hope the German authorities will think about this. In the end, I didn't get my money back. Remember that not only young people travel. Older and inexperienced people also travel. People may need help and information.
The airport is very accessible, very well connected to various locations by train, bus, taxi, and they are frequent.
The service in the airport is also very good, just the security was a bit jammed.
The checkin was ok and unlike Frankfurt or Munich there is someone sitting there ready to help you with that.
There is a food court around gates A-D with lots of options.
There are shops for souvenirs and small things.

Worst airport on earth. A complete joke of an airport and absolutely embarrassing and disgraceful. How can a country like Germany have such a bad, stupid, illogical, inefficient airport? 1 star is being too nice to whoever manages this embarrassment of an airport. I’ve flown in and out of here multiple times now and not once was it a smooth process. You land, there’s no staff to bring stairs to your plane. The stairs finally arrived? There’s no bus to drive you to the terminal because they don’t have enough staff. The bus finally showed up? Expect to wait in a long juicy line for customs to clear 4 flights at the same time. Finally done with that? It’s been over an hour since you landed? Wait another hour or two for your baggage since they also don’t have enough staff for that - and while you wait there’s nothing to do - no food, no smoking lounges, and very weak wifi - paired with a great smell from the bathroom which you can smell from the baggage belts :) And when you’re done with that, sprint all the way to the basement to try and catch one of the good trains on time. Hire more people and please fix this, it cannot go on like this.
This is an airport of Berlin, capital of Germany, one of the strongest economy in the world but this airport looks more like a solid regional airport instead like a big, modern and international airport. Yes, its clean and spacious but you can not compare with airports like Frankfurt, Dubai or Singapore. The travelling time to the city center by train is about 30 minutes.
Narrow corridors and lots of stairs (instead of escalators) after arrival - a modern airport should not look like this. However, the direct train to the city centre is a pretty comfy way to get around.
A nice new modern airport, however, would expect it to be bigger and better. Berlin Brandenburg Airport is a newly constructed airport, but lack’s restaurants and shops compared to other airports. I found it hard to pick something to eat before our flight and there wasn’t many places to sit before our flight. However, all facilities and toilets are very clean and kept to a very high standard which I was impressed with. The overall appearance of the airport is beautiful and has a nice industrial look to it. Getting picked up from the airport to our hotel was very easy as we had ordered a taxi, but getting through the airport can be a little hard to navigate. Overall, I think this airport is good, could just use a few more restaurants and places to purchase food before flights.
It’s ridiculous you have to wait 1 hour for your luggage at alarmist 12 am at night!

Probably the worse airport in the developed world. I can only imagine how horrific the Management must be. A guarantee of delays, incompetence and bad mood whenever you have to travel through this mess.
Overall nice. But too much confusion with sign. Connection to the main city is good. But waiting time is huge. The most problematic thing is, there are no water drinking facility inside. The security does not allow liquids. Hence either you have to buy or, drink something else. I definitely think this is a huge downside. Drinking water should be a primary priority of a human being. I hope European airports learn from Middle East and Indian airports.
The BER airport is nice, and it's easy to get there using public transportation. You can grab your bus or train tickets from the kiosk by the exit, which is helpful. They also have self-check-in options available that are really convenient. Just make sure your devices are fully charged before you go because charging stations are a bit hard to come by. The seating area is kind of small, but the staff do their best to keep everything clean and tidy. If you're looking for something to do, I recommend bringing a book or some other form of entertainment since there aren't any desks available for laptop work. They do have free wifi, which is great, but if you need a snack or drink, you'll have to pay between €3 to €5 at one of the vending machines. I recommend buying those before entering the terminals at lower prices. Oh, and one more thing, if you're taking public transportation, use the airport toilets before you go, because the train station restrooms aren't free! If you plan to withdraw Euros at the ATM, bring a debit or credit card with an activated pin.
the real negative note of this airport is the staff at check-in and gate entry controls. They speak a bad English often incomprehensible seasoned with rudeness. Surely there are also valid and welcoming people, but those we met all behaved rudely and sufficiently.
It should be possible to give 0 stars.

Sadly had the same experience as most of the reviewers: apart from one, staff are experts displaying their disinterest in helping or understanding customers. Started with having to wait for 30 minutes until the bridge was brought to the plane: no ground staff available. Continued with outdated displays for luggage delivery (no motes on waiting time). Displays not updated once in about an hour and a half. No communication at all regarding delay of luggage delivery. The one helpful employee found out that the ground handling staff of @Aviapartners were having a “Betriebsversammlung” (staff meeting) WHILE passengers from several flights waited for more than that hour and a half for their luggage. Armes Deutschland.
Big and clean but security methods are a shame
For departures the Airport is extremely efficient. For arrivals it is obscenely inefficient. I've arrived several times at the airport and the baggage belt waiting times are extremely long - and they get longer every time. It's clearly an issue that they just don't bother with since it just gets worse and worse
We had a flight from Budapest to Düsseldorf via Hamburg. In Hamburg we had to take another plane, so we did. Our luggage should also have go automatically with us to Düsseldorf, unfortunately it did not. It took us five days to get our luggage back, while the luggage was already the day after our flight at our arrival point (they sent it with another plane within 24 hours to Düsseldorf). Due to the slow handling at Düsseldorf it took more than 4 days before our luggage was deliverd at home. The delivery at home was also a disastear. They called just 30 minutes before delivery: "hey, we are at your home adress within the next 30 minutes". We did not even know they luggage was coming that day, no communication before at all. The only thing you get is updates in an online application and it is not possible to get in contact with a person because no phone number of Ground Handling is working.
Bad service, no phone number to call, no response on emails. In the end the luggage is back, but some contact during these days would be really fine!
