Royal Marine and Royal Navy among other Memorials are accessible at all times on Plymouth Hoe.
This commemorates all the seafarers that were lost at sea during both World Wars and have no grave.
Situated on a large open space on the Hoe directly overlooking the spectacular view of Plymouth Sound.
History is all around, Must-visit memorials to pay your respect and give thanks “We Will Remember Them”🌹
This statue of controversial historic figure Oliver Cromwell (1599-1658) is situated within the gated area of the House of Commons. However, you can see it fairly well from the roadside while passing by. It is the work of Hamo Thornycroft (1899) and features Cromwell standing with sword in his right hand and a bible in his left. At the base of the monument is a bronze lion. Worth a look-see if sightseeing and monument viewing in the area.
They put up a statue dedicated to a genocidal manic.
What a joke! If Cromwell was alive today he would put on trial at The Hague at the ICC for the atrocities he committed against the Irish nation and he should not have a statue to honour him.
Beautiful memorial gardens with mature shrubs and trees, large water feature and plenty of benches. Nice level route around trees via ornamental paths and lovely independent coffee shop right next door on the old paddling pool site selling sicilian pastries and good fresh coffee
This is the statue you walk past on your way to enter The Palace of Westminster. There is a statue of Oliver Cromwell in my hometown, so it was interesting to see this statue.
The statue of Oliver Cromwell, located outside the Palace of Westminster, is a striking monument to one of England's most controversial historical figures. Erected in 1899, the bronze statue depicts Cromwell holding a sword and a Bible, symbolizing his role as a military leader and his Puritan beliefs. Created by sculptor Hamo Thornycroft, the statue stands as a reminder of Cromwell's complex legacy, including his leadership during the English Civil War and the establishment of the Commonwealth. The monument is a thought-provoking site for history enthusiasts, offering insight into a tumultuous period in British history.
Recognition of the brave sailors who kept supplies moving.
beautiful place to go for a walk
Lovely peaceful garden with a wildlife area. Worth a visit.
This now grade two listed elegant cast bronze statue was originally funded by a Liberal Party politician Archibald Philip Primrose and finally unveiled in October 1899. It underwent extensive restoration work in 2008 which was completed for the 350th anniversary of Cromwell's death in 1658. Indeed the suitably elevated "Lord Protector" stares benignly down at onlookers from his Portland stone plinth with a resting lion at its base watching warily on. A source of heated debate and controversy, this legendary statesman nevertheless has left his mark in history and uniquely oversaw an eleven year end to the British Monarchy which was vexingly restored in 1660.
... the rememberance gardens, right opposite a large park, great for kite flying, and chilling on sunny afternoons ...::: G*

This colonial memorial immortalizes the role of the British in the Second Boer War, but erases the memory of their scorched earth policy and concentration camps they set up. It is really a glorification of war crimes and the continued amnesia the British have of their history.
Very beautiful garden.
Lots of cherry blossoms, tulips, roses etc
Best place to come and relax with friends and family. Well maintained garden and fountain.

Beautiful new statue/Memorial situated along the other Naval Memorials.
Историческо място!!!
It has not been installed yet but the turf has been cut. A memorial to civilian seafarers who sacrificed so much for our survival.
We must never forget and ensure this never happens again.
Large obelisk erected by Alfred Moseley to memorialize the Boer War
Its a great place to walk whatever the weather but it's also a peaceful place to sit in the summer.
Love this place. The new memorial they have put inside is wonderful. Open to the public every day. It's lovely to just wander round the gardens. Dogs are allowed in. Plenty of benches to sit and ponder. Looks It's best in the summer.
A fantastic location for a community event. Reminds us what so many sacrificed so that we can enjoy times like these
