Abbey Gardens are very well kept for all to enjoy. Entrance through the abbey gate was really good and squirrels seemed very tame in the gardens with some very old trees.

A very pretty area, with a lovely mix of plants amongst the Abbey ruins, the houses within the walls are unique and intriguing. The whole place had a relaxing atmosphere and it was well worth the visit.
What a wonderful grounds, cathedral, and old ruins. I never expected to see anything like it, and was so impressed by how beautiful the garden was. Stunning courtyard by the cathedral too.
Always has been a beautiful, relaxing, picturesque gardens that's worth traveling to from short and far. Preserved to the most amazing and highest standard. Public toilet on site and disabled access to gardens and toilets. A must visit for anyone in Bury St Edmunds. The historical value is a real treasure as well

Our first time to Shrewsbury and we were delighted to find the Abbey. The staff were friendly and informative. The abbey is dog friendly and free of charge . Such a beautiful place that really deserves a visit . Will definitely be going back in the future 😁
A bit bare which may sound odd but still beautiful. Not sure if the staff there are overly interested. Quick to mention your expected to donate but lacking information about the history. Where as the smaller church on same road much more interesting with someone very keen to part there knowledge.also the resting place of French queen ( the church not the cathedral)
Lovely walk around the Abbey. Very interesting and informative. You do not have to pay an entrance fee but you will be asked for a donation towards the upkeep ut well worth it.

So much to view, and Bury also has an extensive shopping experience, again with many historic buildings and streets.

Bury St Edmunds Abbey, managed by English Heritage, is a fascinating historical site. The ruins are impressive, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and the informative displays enhance the experience. A must-visit for history enthusiasts!

Really cool Abbey with neat architectural features. I'm guessing it's better with the tour as there is little to no information posted otherwise.
The lovely Abbey of Bury St Edmunds is definitely worth a visit. In the centre of town next to Norman Tower & Abbey ruins, so much to see. Inside the Abbey is pleasing, light & well kept. In the process of removing old oak pews & replacing with wide light beech chairs. Lovely stained glass & architecture. Helpful staff, a pleasure to see our old abbeys so well cared for.
A beautiful building with a rich history. Make sure to hold on to your ticket! After the main part of the church it’s a one way gate to the shop, but if you want to go downstairs to learn the history of the site you’ll need to present your ticket again.

Ein absoluter Pflichtbesuch. Unbeschreiblich viele Eindrücke. Die zusätzliche Ausstellung im angebauten Turm gegen Ende der Führung ist wirklich empfehlenswert. Ist zwar mit geringen zusätzlichen Kosten verbunden, bietet aber die Möglichkeit das gesamte Gebäude von oben in einer sehr ruhigen und angenehmen Atmosphäre ohne den Touristenmassen zu erleben.
Beautiful abbey full of history. A must see in London. The tickets can be bought online with a time slot or at the door. In 2024 the cost is £29 per person. Parking is difficult. Opening time for visitors is 9:30 - 15:30 week days. Sat 9:00 - 15:00 closed to visitors on Sundays open for church services only.
Had a wonderful visit this week,and was so happy and surprised that they did midday prayers which I was thrilled about .

Built in the Gothic style, it is one of the main landmarks of London.
In general, it's cool, but the entrance is paid, there are a lot of tourists. We were not inside because there was little time.

If you want to experience this place properly, you need to come twice. Once as a tourist or patriot or historian, and once as a christian. If you go during a service, as I did on Christmas Day, you will experience that which millions of English Christians have experienced in this house of God. You will be humbled, and awe-inspired, and hopefully leave a little closer to God than you were before.

Outstanding Abbey!!! We only had the chance to watch it from outside as it was closed that day! But still… we enjoyed the day and the area surrounding the Abbey…
Beautiful from the outside, and breathtaking beyond description on the inside. It is a working church that also serves as a memorial, with some tombs dating back to 1000 AD. Magnificent in every way, every square inch is ornately decorated, paying homage to past Royals, kings and queens, poets, (including Shakespeare!), dignitaries, and many other notable figures. Difficult to describe, we spent over two hours exploring, learning, and taking oodles of pictures.
Thankfully, we opted to pay a little extra to go up to the top floor, known as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Gallery . This L-shaped room wrapped around the interior core of the abbey, offering the best place to see the true grandeur of the church. (Sadly, though, no pictures were allowed.) The gallery served as a showcase of the history of the Abbey - its architecture, people, and priceless gems.
With the Abbey’s main focus of lifting up and sharing the message of Jesus Christ, you could feel the reverence and couldn’t help but be moved. What an inspirational, unforgettable experience: truly the highlight of our day. A MUST-SEE!

The Abbey is as beautiful inside as it is outside we also paid to do the tour to climb The Abbey which is the heights point in Bath. The views are stunning and well worth the climb I would definitely recommend it!
A very nice Abbey church of the holy Cross dating back to 1038 AD as a Benedictine monastery. It was well worth a visit with only a short walk from the center of Shrewsbury. The volunteers were very helpful, a beautiful place which is well worth a visit if in the area.
Must see when in London. They are very well organized on dealing with the crowds and even though it was packed, there was no wait. They have a nice audio tour and lots of staff throughout to ask questions and help. They also had a moment of silence and offered for anyone interested to say prayers. So much history in that church.
Jedburgh is a very beautiful small city. The Abbey is on the top of the hill. It's so big and unique. Couldn't visit it but I will go back. Another place to go.

Amazing experience! Got to see the House of Commons, House of Lords etc. Photography isn’t allowed in most places inside, so do be aware of that. I recommend booking tour tickets in advance. Getting a tour guide is tough (fully booked till 2025!) but the audio tour is as good. No wait on a weekend, just need time for security checks
We went to watch an Incredible performance of Viennese opera few days ago. The Cathedral is absolutely astonishing. Lots of history there. I highly recommend this place to be visited in summer time as well!
Great experience! Absolutely stunning! We signed up for the tour (including clock tower). Our guide was amazing & gave of lots of insights - it was very interesting (and trust me, I usually get bored easily). We climbed all the way up onto the roof - the view is FANTASTIC! Best view over Bath for sure! If you opt for the last slot in autumn, you get a sunset option! We were in love!

Did both the floor tour and the tower tour. Both very enjoyable. Tower has 212 steps that get tighter towards the top. Good workout getting up! You get to see the clock, bells and the Bath skyline. Well worth the effort!
Interesting historical building in a great small town. It is not an attraction for teenagers unless they have an interest in history but well worth a visit for adults. Local tourist information office well stocked with lots of ideas for days out. Don't miss stopping at the view spot on the a68 just over the border as you climb from the reservoir..
What a wonderful experience. The Abbey is steeped in history. There is so much to see. The architecture is truly unique and the interior of the church is magnificent... stained class windows, towering ceilings and ornate tombs. Self-guided audio tours are available (narrated by Jeremy Irons)! There was a queue to see the different tombs but other than that, the crowd was fairly manageable. Definitely one of the must-see attractions in London. I used a London Pass to get in so I didn't have to queue for tickets.
Highly memorable experience. There was a variety of unique aspects one could partake in at this venue. I would highly recommend advance purchase of tickets. It was quite breathtaking to even just stand in the great hall and take in the architecture, history, and overarching significance of the entire abbey.
Where Kings and Queens are coronated! It’s a stunning cathedral although I did not go in. At almost £30 a ticket, it’s rather steep - especially if you do not have enough time to really learn all about the structure and its history. Definitely worth more than a passing by.

This was a beautiful visit. We got tickets ahead of time and only had to wait 10 mins to get started. We chose to do our own tour, but they give you audio devices which have added enjoyment to the trip. The architecture and environment is very beautiful and almost emotional. It is worth the ticket price.
Beautiful place to know about English history. It has many statues ranging from 1500 to till 1900s. The beauty of the statues are breathless. I spent at least 3 hours there and saw the beautiful history unfolding there. The museum has android device that demonstrates everything along the pathway. I suggest that the visitors take this and listen to it very carefully to know about the history of kings and monarchs there. That device comes as a included package there with the ticket. Also, do not forget to see the museum in the upper floor. That meuseum has separate ticket which is worth watching. Also, it is prohibited to take photos or videos when mass is ongoing. Visitors should respect it. I didn't see the sign there since some tourists were covering the sign with their body and filming the mass. Soz I also filmed it. Later one priest politely requested not to film and I obliged.

A must see for anyone 16+ to truly appreciate a magnificent piece of history, architecture, spiritual energy. I have never seen such grand burials. One can spend hours here but 1.5hr will do if you can make it.

It's pretty, but it's all roped off so you can't explore anything
Though in ruins, it must have been a formidable one in its good old days. Elegant structure even in its ruins. It is part of the palace visit. It is very much attached with the palace and you won't miss it anyway.
A beautiful and impressive abbey in Jedburgh. I really like the audio tour they provided, narrator had a lovely voice and it was interesting to follow along to. The only issue is that the inside is closed, which I know is not there fault but I would have liked to see photos linked to the audio guide outside (they had a couple of photos but it didn't say where they were in relation to the guide)
Nice place to visit and walk around for a few minutes. Too bad it's fenced preventing you from going inside, but I understand the safety concern.

Admire the fantastic ruins of this abbey, from where Holyrood Palace get developed. Beautiful ruins, rounded by the magnificent garden of the royal family. The place is just at the bottom of the Arthur seat and walk in there is like feeling 100 years of history in the air. Beautiful.
It's mainly ruins and foundations - the abbey itself and the graveyard is currently closed due to restoration works. But what's visible is still fascinating and well presented. Particularly liked the old drainage system that's still visible and well made signage. Very fairly priced for what it is too. Less overrun and the free Jedburgh Castle Jail just 3 minutes up the road!
Absolutely wonderful. It was founded by king David I in 1128 as an augustinian abbey, but with the time it grew very much, so that it was one of the most impressive monasteries in Scotland. The palace was founded next to the abbey, not the other way. Some coronations were held here such as James V and Charles I. Only the nave survives but it is amazing. Really beautiful.
A key landmark to understand Scottish history. Pre book online to avoid queues, easy and fast. Free audio guide and younger to see the honours of Scotland. Worth the price but as a history need , I feel a lack of information. Top 2 in Edinburgh and worth the price if you love history
Went here right when the Palace opened. I feel much more interesting than the palace itself. Intricate stone work, memorials and burial sites. There is a complimentary audio guide that has all sorts of detailed information. The area then leads to the gardens to the north of the Abbey.
It is a ruined building of an old church, an open building. Walls are still beautiful which are left. Outside of it, there is quiet a beautiful view of mountains, you can capture a few pics out there. This is just outside the Holyrood Palace at the exit, one time visit.
This was actually my favourite part of our visit to the Holyrood Palace and grounds. The Abbey is a very imposing, atmospheric, and yet remarkably well maintained ruin. I wish we had visited during the summer, when more of the grounds would have been open to the public!
