“I really like their menu, which offers a great selection of Chinese cuisine from various regions. The flavors are enjoyable, and I’m looking forward to coming back to try more dishes.
It's alright I finally got around to trying it and at most it's decent. Staff struggle with English another down side is the place is too small your all sat pretty much right next to each other, I ordered chicken fried rice and curry sauce a meal I always get a Chinese places. I was one of the only English people in there but that didn't really bother me. Probably won't be back it's average at best and actually on the more expensive side. I can however say this place is a Michelin star restaurant compared to Mr Happy avoid Mr Happy like the Plague.
The store front is quite misleading; small in front but big in the back.

Food was average, 1 of the staff could have been more considerate, we are not friends after all. Good feedback on my part, please take it as such.
Ordered the curry stewed beef brisket egg noodles and it was honestly so delicious. The portion size was massive so I was sadly unable to finish it all and the regret began to kick in a couple hours later when i got hungry again haha. The beef was so juicy and tender and I would highly recommend this dish. However, I also ordered the strawberry sweetheart (pictured on the left) which had a rather off-putting colour and although it did taste sweet and like strawberries, it had an artificial taste to it which was not my cup of tea. But overall, it was a lovely experience and I would definitely come again :)
First time at this takeaway and we were very impressed. The food was delivered fast and was lovely. We will definetely be returning.
It’s open again after being closed for a while (lease had changed) and happy to say just like before good food and good service at a very reasonable price. Recommend it!

On the 28/11/24 I put through an order online at 17:59. Expected delivery time was 18:59.
At 19:20 I call to query if the driver is lost. The call handler states " she's been out a while, give it ten minutes and if nothing, call back" ten minutes past and still nothing so I call again. I am then told that the driver went to Easton first (baring in mind we are just around the corner). So I make a valid point that the food will arrive cold. I was just told "it's in insulated bags, shouldn't be too bad"...so I say I'll call back in five minutes and if she's not been, we want a refund.
Ten minutes past and she's still no where to be seen so I call through again. This time I'm told that she has claimed to have delivered the food. I make it very clear that no one has been to my address, I'd be too busy eating than to waste my time calling them non stop. He says that maybe she's delivered it to a neighbour. I make it very clear that this is their problem and that I want a refund immediately. He agrees but says it'll take two days.
I'm fed up at this point so just accept and hang up. Suddenly there's a knock at the door, it's the driver. She's telling me how she delivered to someone at this address. That she knows she walked down my garden to this door and delivered to someone. Now considering I am the only one capable of answering, I ask her if she's calling me a liar. She then starts looking around the plant pots at my front door. So I question "I thought you handed it to me...why are you looking for it" she sneers and walks off. Clearly changing her story to fit her narrative.
I call back the company to place in a complaint (because I premeditated why she'd come to my door). As I thought, the call handler explains she has provided sat nav data to prove she'd been to my address. So she literally knocked round just to gain data.
Extremely sly. Luckily I figured this out and called to complain which I guess threw her back up out.
She either stole my food or delivered it to the wrong place and instead of owning up, she lied and played sneaky tactics.
I will never ever trust these people with my business again and I warn others to avoid as well.

We came for breakfast and had the wonton soup and cheung fun. A good sized portion of food, with the option to get a set meal for £10 total. Would definitely come again for breakfast.
Delicious food, genuinely makes a difference for the flavours to not be drowned in MSG… and this amazing hidden gem will have me coming back as my regular “go to” when I move to York, but as a visitor the perfect place to have found for a sit down quick meal…

I’ve ordered from this take away for many months, also have to order for my friends( because they are shy when speaking directly to people( excuse) but all food has always been good, they know who I am when I call and they even ask ‘ which address this time?’

Been going here for many years and the food is always fantastic. I wholeheartedly recommended to anyone who lives Chinese food at a very reasonable price.
Firstly cannot fault the food or service only gripe is the serving dishes were cold so the food didn’t stay warm with the added fact there seemed to be no heating on

The lunch deal is a great price with quality food and exceptionally fast service from ordering to being served! The chicken and sweet corn soup is a real treat
The style is simple, no nonsense - in the sense you won't have a long chat with your server, but it's to the point and the restaurant is keen and ready to serve hungry customers. If you don't like long waits this is the place for you ❤️

Visited here many times over the years, really good value and great food. Definitely worth a visit if you fancy a decent Chinese for lunch. We've also been on a night and the place is usually packed!
We’ve been getting this takeaway for a couple of years now and it’s our favourite in Norwich. Excellent value for money, good size portions and the food is always delicious. Often order when we have guests staying and they’re also very impressed. Highly recommend!

We had duck spring rolls and chicken salt and pepper wings to start, Both were tasty.
For mains we had chicken sweet&sour with egg fried rice and Malaysian coconut curry with duck and egg fried rice. Both mains were delicious and a generous amount of food. A lovely friendly service from staff, would definitely recommend

Always good here for a takeaway. We've been rather a lot in the last 7 years or so of living in the area. We usually have the same thing, (Set meal for 2(B) ), always well cooked & nice & excellent value....& usually enough to have some for lunch next day lol! We have compared with others in the area, though for us, New China is the best of them. Xx
Definitely one for the soup lovers. The choice of soup bases is pretty impressive and the combination of noodle meats make this place special.

Brilliant food at an awesome price. Large portions and a nice chill atmosphere. The staff in particular are very friendly and are there the instant you need them. 2nd time visiting and wont it be my last!

A decent Chinese food restaurant. The staff are very friendly and the environment is clean and comfortable. The price is very reasonable and the portion is big. We ordered some golden soup beef noodles which was very delicious. The broth was rich and the beef was tender. I truly enjoyed it. However the Singaporean fried rice was a bit too dry and plain. That’s the reason why I have it 4 stars. There were many options on the menu that I would love to try if I have a chance to visit again.

The chow mein had a cigarette smell to it, the rice was quite bitter and the chips were stale I’m not happy at all
Only for take out. The special fried rice does not seem fried but the side dish( stir fried vege & chicken ) is good. The big prawn fried noodle taste is good with lots of fresh prawns. Recommend the Peking ribs which is covered by sweet source. The wanton soup is just normal. It is a better Chinese food in Norwich although it’s a bit far from city centre. It’s very popular in the neighborhood though.
I have ordered here many times before and I must say that every time this shop has met my expectations in the sense that the quality of the food is always top notch as is the service that I receive. This is a nice little shop that I usually pop by before heading to town. Highly recommend

This is on of our favourite Chinese in Norwich, staff nice. The food is delicious you have to remember because they are one of the best in Norwich on a Friday or Saturday evening it can take a while to get your delivery, to me that says it's good food as in demand. Would definitely recommend.

Having read reviews was skeptical of ordering from this Takeaway However the service was pleasant and the food was hot and enjoyable chicken fried rice sweet and sour chicken and pork balls and a portion of BBQ ribs will use again next time I'm in Norwich
Authentic Cantonese food . It was delicious and fresh . The restaurant itself could do with a bit of modernisation but bizarrely it added to the charm
Good food. Great people. Service was impeccable and our waiter made some great recommendations. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a bit tipsy on a Friday night and need some decent food before you head off home.
Absolutely awful. Service disgusting. Ordered steak and chips which I ordered to have with the rest of the parties starters. 1 hr 20 minutes later after they all had the starters and appetisers and ready for their main I still hadn't had my meal so I cancelled it and had nothing to eat. No apologies even had the nerve to charge me for my drink. Their chips part of their mains came after everyone had finished the mains. Had to ask for them.

Good Cantonese style cooked food here! Service is pleasant and fast. Restaurant is located on the first floor just a stone’s throw from Newcastle China Town. My opinion the food here is better than many of the restaurants in Chinatown.
Many years since I'd been here. Had forgot just how good the food is. Place itself still a but run down, but the food is still full of flavor and large helpings. Packed out with Chinese families. All 3 of us left vegetables and rice as we were very satisfyingly stuffed after a starter and a main course each which we each devoured!
Food and service was great. Helpful, patient and adorable staff who are very quick and efficient.
I came here when I was just a student over 13 years ago. I have moved away but always brought people back here when visiting. It's one of my favorite places, reasonably priced and great customer service.

They add a 10% hidden service charge. If you want me to pay 10% more, increase the prices instead of springing a hidden charge on me when it's time to pay. Very deceitful, won't be coming back.

Absolutely stunning food. Easily the best Chinese food in Liverpool city centre.
We have always loved this chinese since I lived in the area years back. Now the service is just perfect, on time and cooked to perfection! The egg fried rice was slightly flavourless hence 4 stars and chips are slightly overcooked and always loads of little hard chips not much potato to the chip.
Fab food this evening, either was very hungry after a 10mile bike ride today, or it was one of the best yet! (Never had a bad one) We had chicken curry & sfr, sweet & sour chicken balls and chicken chow Maine. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 LOVELY
The food was amazing honestly, it came out perfectly hot, i ordered the one bowl; ramen, bone broth and beef. The meat melted in my mouth which i didn’t really like but had a good taste overall, the broth was perfection, so pure. the noodles were thicker than expected but very good

We had a nice family meal at Happy Valley in Goodramgate last week. The restaurant table seating area is located on the first floor, accessed by a steepish staircase which opens onto a cosy dining area. We had crispy aromatic duck which was very good, followed by steamed dumplings, seaweed, char siu chow mein, sizzling beef in black bean sauce, chicken with cashewnuts and vegetables. Everything was cooked well with good flavour and the service was attentive and efficient.
China Star restaurant serves authentic Chinese cuisine with generous portions at reasonable prices. Super friendly staff!
I was getting petrol at the Jet garage opposite and smelt the Chinese food on my way back to the car before I actually saw it or thought of it. This was one of those unplanned gems, found purely because I went out for fuel. I went over and upon seeing their 4* food hygiene, entered and placed an order. While waiting I was reading the menu and New China points out all food is freshly cooked and I was not disappointed. A basic order of chicken chow mein, and salt and pepper chips that went down well. I would completely agree, it was fresh and the chow mein was tasty and not greasy. The chips were also clearly freshly prepared and not refried. Portion size was also generous. I high recommend and will be returning.
We were extremely impressed. The food quality, speed, and price were so much better than any other Chinese we have had anywhere in Norwich. We went to collect and they were so friendly. I never leave reviews but immediately said I needed to give a good review 😂
What can I say the food is delicious, properly seasoned and their traditional menus section offers some great dishes. I love the stir fried aubergine 🍆 with chilli pork mince! Delivery is reliable for us it usually takes around an hour. It's a little traditional in its appearance, and you may be served by a young man, but trust me he is good at his job and the service is effective!.
Stumbled across this place on a hungover Sunday afternoon. I’m not local so I didn’t know where to eat. But my god was it a good choice. Hands down the best Chinese I’ve ever eaten. Once I walked in and was offered a Chinese or English menu and the place full of Asian families enjoying Sunday dinner i knew I was onto a winner. Super clean open kitchen too. We stuffed ourselves and didn’t feel overly full or thirsty like you do after a Chinese. All the meat was fall off the bone tender and fresh. Duck was amazing.
Food is lovely very tasty. would be a 5* rating but we are just over 3 miles away and was charged £4 for delivery which I think is a bit much especially when we usually order over £30+ worth of food, and especially when after an hour we had to ring and find out when are order would be arriving as was told 45 minutes. But as I said food is always good 👍
Had a meal from here last night, the food was lovely, well cooked and nice and hot. I had a chicken chow mein, rice, lemon chicken and sweet and sour chicken balls, all of which were really tasty. I would definitely buy from this Chinese takeaway again.

Very busy canteen type Chinese on Berry street. Very good Ho Fun and seaweed kohowever the pork dumpling we had were not good. Just had a weird taste. I would definitely go back.
Pop in for takeaway menu then phone up at 5 at 5-15 ready the pork spring rolls spot on the ribs in ok sauce really nice and tasty and the crispy chilli chicken nice and hot here all week so be back a couple more times
My girlfriend and I visited and really enjoyed our food. We were seated straight away and served soon after. The food and service was great and we would definitely like to return. Highly recommend!

We browsed the menu and ordered quite a few different dishes, our drinks came straight away and the food wasn’t much longer!
The aromatic duck starter was lovely however there wasn’t enough wraps, we were maybe 2-3 short of what we needed, it would also be nice to see bigger duck portion options as you can only order 1/4 crispy duck.
Our mains arrived shortly after, all of which looked, smelled and tasted amazing.
The place started to fill up and before we knew it there wasn’t a table empty which is great to see!
Some of the dishes are a little pricey but honestly the taste and portion sizes make up for it!
We live 3 hours away from York and are already planning our next trip so that we can come back to Hong Kong Chop House for another delicious Chinese feast!

I have lived in the area for a few years and there are three Chinese takeaways next to each other on Sprowston Road! The only one I hadn't used until recently was China Star, which I regret! Because the food here is superb. It's hot, fresh and well cooked and served by friendly staff. My only issue is that the place is so popular there's often a long wait, and the card machine they use is a nightmare! So take cash if you can. But mid week is better. I highly recommend this place for the food though.
My wife and I used to be here 20 years ago (Jan 2004). At that time, the food was really great. We even took a picture of their menu (small pink leaflet) and wish we would come back again.
After 20 years (Aug 2023), we are so happy to see that this restaurant still open even after COVID. This time, we bring our 2 kids. Unfortunately, the food quality has dropped drastically. But the restaurant decorations are still the same. Our kids do not enjoy the food here and so are we. It's kinda disappointed. ☹️

I have only eaten there occasionally, but, my wife regularly with her NHS colleagues.
The food is very good, the staff are welcoming, very friendly and nothing is to much trouble, easy access for disabled and the tables are well spaced.

Had sweet and sour Cantonese chicken strips with noodles and chips. The chicken came out of the dish stuck together and was like eating rubber it was disgusting. The noodles were fine. The chips were shaped like chips but nothing inside them just a plateful of fatty batter.

Don't believe everything you hear or read about this place (I've read a lot of negative reviews). I'm 54 and have been coming here since a child with my parents and family. We have had many family celebrations here. Always able to accommodate even when a last minute walk in. Service always been prompt but needs to improve when busy. Never been disappointed with food presentation or taste. Have taken friends here and they have enjoyed it. Always a good atmosphere in here. Usual regular scousers with their families come here repeatedly. Always chat between tables. Sizzling Steak Cantonese, Chicken Satay & Duck are my faves here. Give it a try!
Had excellent 4 course meal for my sisters birthday over 30 family and friends. Food was hot and well presented staff fab we had a wonderful afternoon. Meal delicious.

Absolutely disgusting 🤮 customer service. In a little while ago we have ordered our dinner to collect. The owner (I guess) talked to us over the phone very rude. But I thought that’s ok he may be a Chinese person. When I have to order I clearly told him chicken chowmein for my son Needed with out beansprouts. He said ok at that time.
When we brought food home son’s dish with beansprouts. I have called him and complained. Then he started to go at us and said that I never requested that!

First time customer as the one I used to use in Taverham has seriously gone downhill, bad food bad customer service. Chinese food is quite an expensive choice for take out, so you really want it to be good….obviously. The reviews looked quite promising on the whole so took a gamble……..and so glad I did. The food was delicious, my son said Chicken Balls were full of chicken, batter light & crispy, Crispy Chilli Chicken was full of flavour & the Seasoned Salt Chips (think that’s the name) were very moreish, Chicken Fried Rice was great too…..box kept for next day. I was quoted an hour on delivery, it turned up in 40mins & the young delivery man was very polite & wished me a good evening, all this combined means I definitely will use them again & would recommend.
Little gem of a Chinese restaurant in York, near York Minster. Very quirky and cottage like from the outside. Inside ... a few stairs to the restaurant upstairs, ceiling had original beams and little areas to sit. Received a nice friendly welcome, even though we'd not booked. Table and drinks brought with menus promptly. Three courses £26 pp. My husband had soup starter, duck with pancakes and then chicken and cashews f.rice. I ordered BBQ spare ribs, crispy seaweed and sizzling beef in Blackbean and garlic sauce. 😋 delish. Bill £62 including 2 beers and wine. Reasonable for what we had. Flavours divine. Thank you. Absolutely disgusted with the service I received today. Been my regular Chinese take away ( every Tuesday night ) for at least 20 years but tonight was the last straw. Got my order wrong then told me it was my fault. Missing items despite repeating myself 2-3 times. The food (if you can class it as ) was old and clearly reheated and / or under cooked. I will not order from new china again.

We met the nice lady and a polite young gentlemen there, they are very nice staff. The food were great, the prices were reasonable with more than enough portions. Will keep going there. Highly recommended!
Mid 2023: Dim Sum just like, maybe, better than Hong Kong’s restaurants. Every dish is heat and delicious. The big boss is always looking to help in the restaurant. He giving sweets to my daughter every time after I paid the bill.
Late 2023: As the cook was gone to another restaurant to work, the food quality changed to lower. The boss has gone also. Most of the staff gone.

Been using this takeout for many years for Chinese takeout for family meals and as a personal treat from time to time.
Food is always prepared nicely and service is good. Never had a negative experience with this takeout, food has always been 10/10 for me. In regards to delivery, it is delivered in good time and is piping hot.
You cannot beat a Chinese on a Friday night or a weekend!

Rude staff. Went in to order and ask about options and I was greeted with a scowl and "what do you want?" in a blunt tone. I didn't really know what to say because every time I asked a question she just said the same thing and continued to scowl at me. It was obviously near to closing time but no need to be rude if you want customers to come back and spend their money. In the end I just walked out because it was so uncomfortable, won't order here again I went down to Peking where the service was much nicer.
We looked this up on Google and after reading several good reviews we decided this was going to be our evening meal. The staff were obliging and very friendly. We were both well pleased with the quality of the food, hot tasty and plentiful..My only little quibble being the plates were stone cold, not good to put hot food onto and the prawn crackers weren't very good. Would we recommend a visit, Yes we would and we would hesitate going back. Thank you Hong Kong Chop House 👍
Best in the city! I love their hotpot, top quality food, hand cut beef and lamb slices, fresh veg, lots of choices, yummy sauces, large quantity, Fast service, very friendly staff, great value! couldn’t recommend more. Will definitely come back!

The chicken is like eating grey meat and tastes old, the food looks and tastes like it’s been sitting there for days, their ‘crispy chilli chicken’ was a tub of plain chicken in sweet and sour sauce?? After calling the shop up the man was very rude, didn’t give me a refund and wouldn’t sort it at all. Really unhappy and disappointed.

A friend from Hong Kong decided to bring me to his FAVOURITE restaurant. According to him, some of the 'Dim Sum' dishes here were better than the ones served in Hong Kong.
1.Cheong Fun wrapped around Fried Crispy dough
- This was the winning dish for me. The cheong fun is made there and then by the chefs, and cheong fun dishes are only available till 4pm.
-a bowl of soya sauce is provided. Just pour it over the cheong fun, and relish the soft exterior with the crunchy interior.
2.Salted Egg Bun
-The defining test of this dish is the melting yellow salted egg that oozes out after a bite. Here, that's exactly what happened.
3.Beef Hor Fun.

I often (perhaps less now) get a Chinese takeaway as a treat when I am pushed for time and these are great. I tend to order through Big Foodie and the service and food are great.
The egg fried rice is too plain for my taste (my son loves it), so I have pork fried rice instead which us super yummy. The sweet and sour sauce is thick and tasty and the delivery is usually very quick and the food is always hot and fresh.
They are not the cheapest, but they are very good. Give them a try.

So so rude, the food is rank and the gobby tw*t who answered the phone has 0 customer service skills. They forgot our curry and chips then told us we were sh*t and to never order from then again🤣 They never delivered our curry and chips or offered a refund. The food is so bland and dry and the chicken was also undercooked. We even had an eyelash extension in our food!! Disgusting will never order from their again.
The food here is absolutely delicious, and big in size for the great price. The staff were lovely. Me and my partner both had the delicious 4 course dinner and was blown away by how nice it was and looked.

Nice chinese takeaway restaurant! It's a very cheap and reasonable price. Food is testy but szechuan sauce is a bit too sweet for me but it's ok.

The worst takeaway food I have ever eaten. In the past this was a good takeaway but as of recent (past year) the quality has dipped. The staff on multiple occasions have been rude. Orders are often mixed up. All sweet and sour dishes use artificial tasting manufactured source. £60 worth of food in the bin. I would rather eat a Ginsters Cornish pasty purchased from the Jet petrol station next door. Honestly its that bad!!! On a positive, prices are competitive. The recent reviews back my opinion
Our usual takeaway is closed today so decided to give Happy View a go after reading other people's reviews. That was a good decision! Mine and partner's chow mains, chicken balls and spicy wings were really good and our fussy daughter absolutely enjoyed her duck with pancakes! The food arrived half an hour earlier than estimated (which we were happy about) and it was nice and hot! Will definitely order again from Happy View 😊
The employees here are always so nice and accommodating! I am vegan and it’s sometimes difficult to find food I can eat, but Cantonese Kitchen are happy to modify menu items to make them suitable for me.
They open at 5:00pm most evenings, and my husband and I passed by at 4:45pm, peeked in and they happily served us.
The rice is delicious! And the prices are very reasonable as well! All in all, it’s a great choice for dinner!
