Amazing food! We had their Hainanese Chicken Rice and Beef Horfun. Chicken was so tasty and tender. The beef was also very soft and has an amazing wok hei. The place was a buzzing, though some people might find it a bit loud. Service was also very fast and efficient. The lady who was serving us was amazing. Will definitely be back 🫶

Very good Chinese food in Manchester Chinatown. Try the set banquet menu... You get a good taste of a wide variety of dishes. Has both expected Chinese dishes and some more authentic choices for the more adventurous eater. Everything we ate was delicious.
Been to Rasa Sayang a couple of times and food is consistently decent. The beef noodles are really nice and the roti canai with chicken is delicious but the chicken is on a bone which, in a curry in a small bowl, makes it rather difficult to eat. The Char Kway Teow is also nice and the Chargrilled Tiger Prawns were quite dry and not very flavourful. Prices decent and service efficient.
Cantonese classics executed perfectly. The mapo tofu had the subtle numbing szechuan pepper, wonderful crunch from the pickles, silky tofu, all in a porky and spicy bean sauce. This really hit the spot on a gloomy day.

Everyone comes for the roast meats, and I have to say it deserves the hype. The char siu was insanely tender and had decent charring from the sweet glaze, and the duck had an amazing flavour. Portion size for both dishes were GENEROUS!!!

The service was great too. The lady that served us said that they normally don't serve the mapo tofu on top of rice, but she made a special exception. Food didn't take too long to come out too. The tables around us ordered salt and pepper dishes too which looked amazing, but I was unfortunately way too full.

This is a must go destination in Manchester's Chinatown if you want honest, delicious, and generous Cantonese cooking.

Food was good but the service is trash. I asked if they can get me some water upstairs she told me I had to go down and get the water myself. I asked why she said because they don’t take service charge so no service for getting tap water for me.
This used to be a old fashioned Malaysian restaurant serving generous heapings of popular Malaysian fare. It’s now been given the ‘Wagamama’ treatment and the menu has shrunk, the portions have reduced in size even more, and while the interior has been given a makeover, it’s now tightly packed and oriented towards turnover rather than culinary hospitality. It’s a real shame as I won’t be returning again. There are some authentic Malaysian restaurants in Shepherds Bush and Acton for those looking for the real thing.

This has been on our list for a while and been wanting to try them for the Malaysian delicacies.
Finally visited it. Though we didn’t have prior reservation we did get the table quickly. There were few free tables at the basement but they got occupied real quick.
Ambiance is pleasant.
Service is very quick.

For drinks we had Lychee Cooler, which is a gin based cocktail and a Guava Shorline which is a non-alcoholic drink. Both were delish. Really loved them.

We ordered vegetarian Tempeh to share, which were like soy chips in a really yummy sauce. It was very flavourful.

For mains, I went with Treasures Buddha's delight which sounded interesting based on its description. The dish says it comes with noodles but they ain’t the main sized noodles but they are very minimal. Our server Alice did recommend ordering a rice side along with it.
The dish was gooood but wasn’t as flavourful as our starter/tempeh. Personally would have loved to have a bit more flavour in this dish.

Other half ordered Nasi Goreng (S) which he said he really enjoyed. It came with rice, prawn crackers, and a crispy wing kinda thing. The portion was great for the price. One of the best so far he has had in London.

Overall a wonderful experience..
Alice was great with the service, 5/5 stars for her 🙂
Very busy as always, waited no more than 5 minutes, then was seated.
No fuss. Just delicious food. Big servings
Chicken Chow Mein with crispy noodles and Special thick rice noodles.

Not just the best dim sum in Manchester, it’s the best dim sum in whole of UK. As a dim sum lover, I have been spending my whole life eating dim sum and compared price and quality in UK 😄

Quite good spicy favor. There is always lacking of sichuan restaurant in Bristol. I’m glad to see this new one. The spicy oil source is not bad. But tbh still have space to grow, but definitely worthy to try!

Food was really nice, but since it changed hands it's really lost its charm. The waiters are extremely rude and constantly keep circling around your table asking if you want champagne every 5 minutes. The prices have gone up 50% year on year. A family of 5 cost £300. It's a real shame as we used to love coming here on special occasions.

Very disappointed, we were prepared for the abrupt service (it certainly was) from other reviews, unfortunately although the food was relatively good quality we had been surprised by the lack of variety on the menu inside, not seeing many of the dishes photographed outside, only to discover half way through our make-do meal that there was a full dim sum menu being given to other tables. It really put a downer on our trip as we'd been looking forward to some authentic dim sum, and it feels like we were profiled as we're not Chinese.
Good pricing and delicious dim sum, fried beef Ho Fan, Steamed Vermicelli Roll is very good👍

There are better restaurants in Chinatown I recommend over this one. They did have genuine baiju for only £15 a bottle. Too little rice for the food we ordered, we had to order another portion. The main came served in a fruit ball cooked ok and not too spicy. The bill was a tad high there are places where you can get better quality food, service and atmosphere at a lower price. We went on a Saturday night and there were only a couple of other tables in. Says it in.
Went for the first time today and had the Sunday buffet, we loved the fact that everything is made to order and it’s not a situation where u go up and serve your own food you order what you want, and they make it in the kitchen and serve you. The buffet price was around £19.80, perfect portion sizes for you to try alot of different dishes on the menu and the food was one of the best Chinese I’ve had in a long time. The buffet menu is quite big and varied so that was great also. I would definitely go again On a regular day even when buffet is not available. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Sweet and sour chicken 10/10
Beef noodles (Don’t remember the specific name) 10/10
Egg fried rice 10/10
Salt and pepper wings 10/10
Prawn toast 10/10

The sour and spicy noodle soup was incredible. We tried both the beef and pork and they were both great. We also got a pork belly rice dish and it was super good.

They also serve Hong Kong style desert, which is a nice sweet treat to have after a spicy meal.

Highly recommend!

Was very disappointed with the food
Considering it cost £20.30 for a chicken chow mein, which was dry, didn’t taste fresh at all , almost like it had been reheated from the night before
and barely any chicken in the dish.

The spring rolls were okay, but for the money would expect a lot better quality .

The curry sauce dip was not nice at all

It’s a shame because it is a really nice restaurant inside just a shame about the food 🙁
This place was VERY popular but there seemed to be a good turn over on tables, we didn't need to wait long. The canopy by the door have those waiting a little shelter from the Manchester rain.

There was quite a menu, quite a basic appearance but really good service.

Food portions were large, quality seemed good but I think I've enjoyed flavours more in other establishments - my colleague really enjoyed his dishes, this may be personal and linked those tastes that still aren't right for me post-covid.
This has become one of our regular hangs. Great value, quality, and taste!
Food undoubtedly is great but service is bad. We asked for tap water they say don’t have and give us bottle water (while next table get tap water).

Takeaway box cost you money per box!

We recently had the pleasure of dining at this Hunan restaurant, and I am pleased to say it was a delightful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, the bold flavours and fragrant aromas characteristic of traditional Hunan cuisine. Each dish truly showcased the perfect balance of spicy, sour, and savoury flavour. Making every bite an exciting journey for the taste buds. The Spicy Sizzling Beef, in particular, was my personal favourite
- must try!!

The service was equally impressive. The staff were courteous, attentive, and took the time to explain the menu, providing great recommendations to meet our preferences which added a very nice personal touch to our meal.

Highly recommend this place if you’re in Central Manchester and looking for an authentic, enjoyable Hunan dinning experience.
Buzzing place, you know the food is good when the regional people are eating there, spoke to some lovely malaysian people.
My utmost respect to the cooks and service staff as they went above and beyond.

Would have liked more help when ordering the food, like a mix of dishes not much in the way of balance when our food came. Our own fault but perhaps preventative.
there was a queue and we waited for about 20 minutes. The food were all super good! Highly recommend the braised beef and roast duck! They accepted card too!
Been meaning to visit Happy Seasons for a long time and it did not disappoint. Simple decor and quick service, the food comes out as it's ready. If I was local I'd come here for my Chinese every time.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Beijing restaurant with my family and it exceeded all my expectations. The service was exceptional, with attentive staff catering to my requests. The standout dish was the crispy duck, which had a perfectly golden, crispy skin and succulent meat. The restaurant's beautiful ambiance, blending traditional and modern elements, added to the overall charm. I highly recommend this restaurant for authentic Chinese dining experience.
Food was okay; chicken wasn't great quality, but flavours were good with decent portion sizes.
Service was efficient, but felt like they wanted us to leave to make room for other people. Cleared our plates too quickly and felt rushed.
Doubt I'd be returning...there's a lot of other better choices around Chinatown.

I ordered online the original broth with wheat noodles and pork ribs + green bean paste and mochi for dessert. It was well balanced and well priced though of course I would prefer it even cheaper. This is among the most authentic, clean and delicious tasting meals I've had in a while. Will definitely order again. Unsure about visiting in person as there are some reviews about bad service.
The food was surprisingly good! Chinatown in Manchester is pretty much only a block and a half. So Chinese food option is kind of scarce. This place is first come first serve concept. The no frills place makes up for its food. I definitely recommend the beef brisket noodle with vermicelli. You will love it! The service was friendly. Definitely check them out if you are in the Manchester area!

Great new and noteworthy Chinese restaurant in Bristol and my new favourite. Food is authentic and simple. The Chinese menu may be a bit hard to decipher for non-Chinese folks so I thought I’d give a few recommendations:

The Emei bamboo shoot and beef noodle soup is one of the best I have had in the UK. Fresh homemade wheat noodles are delicious.

The Old sichuan Dan Dan noodles are the same homemade wheat noodles with a peanut sauce and beef mince.

The oiled pork belly slices in Sichuan style garlic sauce is a great dish, hard to find here.

If you are feeling adventurous, the beef tripe in chilli oil (misspelled beef triple) is superb! Delicate texture with sharp chilli oil.

Handmade lemon tea is a must try! Made with jasmine tea, this drink is a perfect compliment to the spicy and sour dishes.

We are visitors in Manchester and choosing the restaurant because of our appetite. Ambiance was good, staff was friendly, food was coming fast, as all was prepared already. Prices in the menu are looking reasonable but when we asking for the bill we received a bundle of 3 handwritten papers which we don’t understand. Our mistake was not to ask for proper invoice and we’ve got the feeling to be cheated at this point. It was a bitter taste and reason for this comment. Check it out properly when you are visiting this restaurant as maybe 2 of this handwritten papers are surcharges for service, tax and others.
Minimum £15 for card payment??? Do not accept credit cards? what the hell rules here

ingredient not fresh, Ordered bbq lamb skewers but the meat tasted sour and gross

Ma Po Tofu not authentic

A place that will be closing down soon
If you like Chinese food and not expect British manners, starter has to come first then main dish, this restaurant is quite a good idea with reasonable prices and quality. Roast duck was really nice, Alo Vera drink was good. You can park a car near by the walk only 1 minute. Atmosphere was like you eat in China. No knife and chips here.

I recently discovered this fantastic Chinese restaurant in the Gay Village. We ordered their Beef Noodles and Fried Dumplings with Pork, Leak, and Shrimp. The Beef Noodles were served in a large bowl, perfect for sharing, and the taste was incredible. The dumplings were also delicious, especially when dipped in the noodle soup. What impressed me most was their extended operating hours, open until 11 PM, which is rare for Chinese restaurants. I highly recommend Chuan for its delicious food and welcoming atmosphere.
Authentic Guagdong/Cantonese cuisine! Everything was excellent and reminded me of the foods in Hong Kong, if not better. Nice, clean and comfy environment with friendly staffs. Highly recommend!!
Great food, propper chineese food by chieese eaten by chineese loved by chineese, some communication issues over service! but I dont speak mandarin so ther you go..lol otherwise yum yummy....well worth a visit ..

Spacious space and kind staffs! Foods were tasty, but was a bit mild then needed a little more seasoning. So we asked chilly oil(there were shrimps in it, so tasty), foods were became perfect flavours. Saw lots Malaysian and Singaporean customers, lots family group visit.
Great quantity and quality of food for the price!! Good mix and variety of Chinese dishes and noodles.

Love their dim sum and mixed roast, very authentic. Highly recommend Har Gow, char siu buns and sponge cake.
Congee with century egg is alright, portion is big but bland taste.

Great place to have food, it's neat and tidy with good lighting. The food tastes very good but in small portions. So you might need to order a little bit more than usual. The only thing I was surprised is £5.20 for a bowl of rice which is almost 2 times the normal price.
Friendly and nice staff. Food is average Chinese takeaway dishes. We ordered a whole roast duck but I doubt we got a whole served, I didn’t even see any wings or legs. Funny part is one staff brought the salt and pepper duck(part of the whole duck)to us. It was a very small portion. I questioned and double checked. After he confirmed then I had just a few pieces on the plate. A few moments later, another staff came and said it was brought by mistake then she took it to next table straight away. I felt really bad for the next table as I had already taken a bite since I thought the food was ours and the server put it straight on their table. At the end when I got the bill, it charged 10% surcharge automatically. I was very disappointed, it was a family meal out. Definitely won’t go again.

Great view by the window, good location and reasonably priced dishes. Friendly and helpful staff
We loved it!
We've wanted to come here for ages after sitting in traffic and seeing the meats in the window, the food was delicious and fresh. The staff were lovely and accommodating, they even offered us somewhere private to feed our baby after we asked if we could sit out the way which was great.
Star of the show was the roast duck!

First time ordering here and I’m shocked to say the least ! Not only did we wait and hour and half for delivery the foot was shocking ! The salt and pepper chicken was complete fat and was bland with no colour the salt and pepper chips had no seasoning at but salt the egg fried rice had a really funny smell and the curry sauce was like eating pure salt will never ever be ordering here ever again !!!
This is really authentic, Sichuan flavor. The food is incredibly tasty but some dishes can be very salty and extremely spicy. There is pay& park at front. They only take cash.
Had the Sunday eat all can buffet. Everything freshly cooked and the menu not cut down in size - you literally have what you want and as much as you want. I thought it was very good value and the food quality and ingredients used were first class. A lovely surrounding - nice for a romantic meal for two or for a family visiting which we were. Would highly recommend. Good parking at rear of the restaurant too, safe and secure.

We lived in Hunan for a year and were excited to come. It’s located in Manchester’s Chinatown, and the menu includes Chinese, English, and pictures.

The food was very good, though we were a little disappointed that it was not the authentic spicy. I wonder if they assumed we wanted the less spicy British version vs. fiery hot Hunan dishes the province is known for.

The service was good throughout, multiple vegetarian options, and prices moderate for Manchester.
We was pleasantly overwhelmed by the view when we went inside the restaurant, the fish pond was amazing , greeted by very smartly presented friendly staff. The food was reasonably priced and tasted amazing! Full or flavour. Our waiter topped up drinks and cleared plates as required , even got us extra sauces we asked for, very happy customers and will return soon , thanks guys

Prawn stir fry was noodles and 4 peices of prawns with no sauce. Pictures on the menu looked nothing like the food served. Plates too small and table felt quite cramped. The food looked like it was rustled up by an inexperienced cook. £50 for 2 and was not worth the money and staff were often unattentive

Delicious authentic Hunan food. A lot of spicy options if you like that kind of thing. The restaurant is clean and well maintained unlike some other restaurants in Chinatown. We called in for a quick Chinese while in Manchester Chinatown.
This restaurant serviced a great chicken soup, but totally disappointed with the main course. The main meal was serviced two mins after the starter. The mains become very cold after we had finished the starter. With only the two of us in the restaurant you would expect them to wait before serving the main course. The main course was very bland and lacking in any pride in the cooking. The base noddles and veg was identical for our chicken & prawns meals with only four prawns in one main. Not a fun place to eat, we will most definitely not visiting this place again.

Food quality is quite nice and made me feels like I was in Hong Kong! We ordered 4 dishes and 4 drinks and included the service charge all together cost £92. It is a bit expensive but the service are very nice.

We loved the sweet & sour chicken (Hong Kong Style) very much and it is really Hong Kong Style. (made me start missing Hong Kong Food 🤤)

We also ordered the wrap duck (half duck £25) but I am quite disappointed the duck is like that….I thought it will be cutting in pieces.

But overall are not bad and staffs are very helpful and talkative. If you have any questions they are happy to answer.

Amazing food and amazing service! Previously been many times, but this is my first time after covid lockdown. I brought here my friends who were visiting from Thailand back in the summer. It was a much needed fix for them, after a week of no Asian food at all. All food was so so so good. Char kway teow, beef rendang, and nasi lemak were our favourites.

This place has been a reliable staple that I will continue to bring out of towners to experience. I've never regretted eating here, except for one time that we couldn't get in because restaurant was fully packed! They now have two floors but every time I've passed by, it is still packed with people and a waiting queue outside. Not the kind of restaurant you come for a relaxing sit down for many hours, but the kind that you eat and leave as soon as you're done because there's so many people waiting outside to get in. Although we weren't rushed to leave by the waiters at all.

Auntie Alice took care of us that night and she spoke some Thai too! Even though she was super busy, she took the time to check in on us and told us about her adventures in Thailand. She made us feel very warm and at home. It was hard to get other waiters' attention due to how busy the place was, so I recommend looking at the menu before you go and ordering everything at once. 10/10 would come again.

We ordered beef in black bean and got chicken in bb sauce. And the noodles where overcooked and really salty inedible. They had no prawn crackers. Disappointing just wasted £17
Went for the Sunday buffet. Portion size is good and selection is varied. The food was tasty and good quality. Minus 1 star because they class children over 10 as adults which seems a little weird. Don’t over order on starters as they’ll bring your mountains of food and you’ll fill up before main course. Some dishes very salty so get lots of tap water to go with your food.

Had 2 dishes, Singapore vermicelli and roast duck, roast pork, char siu rice. They were not upto my expectations and were just of marginally average qualities. Perhaps what you would pay for what you would get (these were special offer dishes cost £11.80 each).
Besides, a dim sum named fried squid paste, that was quite good.

What a lovely restaurant! The food is really good... we went for a variety of starters, crispy duck and then main course... all of them excellent.

What is it with authentic Chinese restaurants and abrupt attitudes? The food was authentic, not the best but still enjoyable if you know what you're having. This place seemed to be directed towards a mainly Chinese clientele, which is always a good sign. The menu has English translations, but there are Chinese signs for specials or secret items that have prices but no English versions. Cash only if you spent less than £15. I took away an entire star because they had the blandest beancurd roll I've ever tried.

this place is a joke. we were supposed to pay £12 but they charged us £25 because they gave us more portions that we asked for. when we went to pay and saw the bill we asked why its so high the cashier said they have a new menu with different prices from the one they gave us.. one dish "chinese bun" was £1 in the menu but it actually cost us £7 because they give you 6 portions even if you say you want one. fried tofu was £4.50 in menu but they charged £6. and the portion was really unsatisfying because the tofu slices were super super thin. on top of that all dishes we got contained the same one spice and it was all you could taste, no flavour of the food, just the damn spice. ive never been more upset with a restaurant. for so much money ate so little. no wonder they barely had customers. dont go there unless you want to get scammed.

Great restaurant. Nice food and perfect service. There’s Karaoke upstairs, need to book first.
Whilst visiting Manchester we decided to go for a Chinese meal in China Town on a Thursday night.

We weren't really sure of what to expect, just walking past many places I saw the menu and it had a good selection of vegan options so decided to take the plunge and popped in.

The lady serving us was very friendly and opted for the chilli tofu with plain rice and my wife went for crispy aubergine.
The kids ordered chicken chow mein (standard).

It didn't take too long and became the highlight of my Manchester visit. Both the vegan dishes were sooo delicious I couldn't stop thinking about it days after ha.

A taste of Sichuan, China type BBQ. Fairly match the taste of Sichuan except not spicy enough. The only drawback is the pricy for all the items, bout three to four times that of China, and about 20% higher than expected.
Amazing! the waitress made sure to ask for allergies and was very helpful when it came to the menu. The food was very good and service was quick. We got the noodles, chicken nuggets, lamb, fries, shrimp and chicken wings, all extremely good and we left feeling very satisfied and full.
The hotpot buffet was so worth it (£25.9 per head)! Large beef portions, super spicy Szechuan soup base, delicious skewers (specially BBQ chicken wings and steamed buns). We requested for the vegetarian tomato soup base, but it tastes a bit bland. One star off for the not very vegetarian-friendly soup base choices, and that the first order of beef’s portion was too large and may lead to food waste. FYI, the Chinese name of the restaurant is 川鍋香.

Last minute dash in after street food was closed. Tbh wasn't sure what to expect as v mixed reviews over the past few years but much better this year.
Happy with customer service, delicious taste ample portions and very affordable price. Thank you China City we will be back😊
We came in for a nice hotpot, but we left for the terrible storage in the middle of the restaurant. Really weird.

I would also suggest to use different spices on your food and make the aubergine less wiery. It was really distasteful.

Gladly the bars in the neighborhood serve more then enough toilets to take a nasty dump after you eat here. Would recommend the bouncer, because he laughed at us when we entered and should have picked up the signal.

Tomorrow we are going to the Asian Heritage Festival, and we hope to have some better tastings then tonight.

If you want some noodles, just get the nasty ones from the supermarket. They taste better than the ones here.

Period.

Really disappointing. It was the only place without a massive queue and that says it all really. Quite expensive for the amount of food and the quality wasn't the best either. It was just quite bland. Not only that but the food came out so quickly apart from one dish. I was waiting about 10-15nins before I said something and then about 10 mins before the dish came out. Noone explained why it was so much later than the rest of the food. The staff were really nice but I don't intend on going back

First time coming here for dinner and we came in as a group of 8. I was pleased to see dim sum was still around after 5pm but we mostly ordered main dishes. Decent portion at reasonable price since it's in Chinatown / city centre. Service was good and attentive considering it was quite busy at that time. Would come back again.
Best Chinese food in Guildford. We came for a birthday lunch on Sunday and enjoyed the buffet which is £22 for adults and £12 for children. They even gave us a souvenir photo of our group to take home as a gift which was a nice touch. The buffet concept is that you can keep reordering food and they will make it fresh for you and deliver it to your table- this is much more preferable than standard buffets where food can be sitting under hot plates for hours. Just be sure not to over order as food wastage is charged. The food itself is absolutely lovely and always top quality. Service is pretty quick but it does get busy so I’d definitely recommend you book in advance. Yes, it’s not the cheapest but you definitely get what you pay for here.

Food was average, we were about 20 minutes away from home and they forgot items and we couldn't go back as it was close to closing time. Could only pay in cash so had to go to the cash machine. Prawn toast got them one more star, it was the saving grace lol

Good food consistently, looks small and unassuming from the outside but taste and flavour are excellent. Worth a visit.

First class Hong Kong Cantonese style dim sum. Good to see that Manchester Chinatown still has good Cantonese food. Had a large selection of dim sum to satisfy our craving for Chinese food. Food is excellent - fresh, steaming hot and tasty. Just like Hong Kong. Prices reasonable compared to London. Service staff is friendly and also very responsible-I forgot my bag which was sling over the chair and the brought it out to me. Will visit again next time I am in Manchester.

The food was almost unbelievably good. I got a takeaway not expecting much but because I was at a friends house close by, but we were both very impressed.

I had four dishes off the bbq menu: wings, lamb, tofu rolls and the aubergine. All were great but the tofu and aubergine were my favorite. So much flavor!

Looking forward to eating there again. Would highly recommend for groups eating in as it has a good atmosphere. If getting a takeaway do call ahead as it took a while to prepare.

EDIT:
Last time I went I tried to use the toilet before I went in to order food and the staff were irate and asked me to get out of the restaurant, even after I told them numerous times that I was a customer.
Foods still great though 😂

Since my previous reviews, I was debating whether it should be 2 stars of 3.

The reason is that I placed my order and was told that it would be 25 minutes. Now I know it was busy, but at the end of the day, if it was going to take round 45 minutes (including me stood around the shop for over 20 minutes) I wouldn't have gone to the shop until later on.

The food was nice, as it usually is, it's just the length of time to wait for the food that is the issue and the fact it takes quite a bit longer than initially told.
