Really worth visiting , it is close to acropolis so u can arrange a one day visit around the district. Preferably go at some time not so hot, and the views is stunning to me. (Saw a pair of love birds kissing here 🥰)
Certainly enjoyed our visit......however, the main building was mostly rebuilt relatively recently, and most of the site is in complete ruin. As we go to Athens for its history, it is one of the better options to visit.
One of the most beautiful buildings in world history. A must see when in Athens. Beautiful views of the city and stunning architecture. Short walk down to the markets and Roman agora. Great food and shopping nearby with rooftop bars. Love it.
What can I say that hasn't been said? Amazing historical ruins! But be careful if you have mobility issues - there are lots of steep and uneven steps and walking surfaces.
A historical site you must visit when in Athens. Buy a combination ticket for 6 sites for 34/36€, but take into account you will need to select a time to visit the Acropolis site. When more than 15 min early, you will be turned away by the staff at the gate.
History! Fantastic place! Must see! Good to see the progress of rebuilding these beautiful buildings! A lifetime memory for every visitor! Highly recommended to come and see if you are in Athens. Buy your ticket online and come early as the heat can rise high and the crowds of people.

Took about 2-3 hours of time to do... also sat for a while at times because it was hot... and just wanted to take it all is, being where I was.

They are busy with preservation and reconstruction of the site, so there is scaffolding all about. But honestly, this is a big job in progress, so if you don't want to see that, it will be years before it's completed. So go anyway.
I had bought my combination ticket, at the Ancient Agora site, so I was able to skip the ticket queue, and there was only 2 people in front of me, I highly recommend getting your ticket at one of the less busy sights. It is Hot up there in the Autumn still, so take extra sunscreen with.... and a Hat.
There are Water fountains to refill your water bottle and toilets at the top.
There was a Water vending machine too, but it wasn't working.
Took about 2-3 hours of time to do... also sat for a while at times because it was hot... and just wanted to take it all is, being where I was.

Beautiful landmarks and views, informative signs. Don’t visit mid-afternoon because it gets too hot and crowded. Otherwise just wear sunscreen

Horrible!!! The ruins are great, but the organization of this very busy tourist spot is ridiculous. Not only is the staff totally nasty and unwelcoming, but they also lack the skills to provide information. I made 3 different lines while I was there. There was no one in sight directing people except for some officers who only knew to turn u away. Waited on a line for an hour, saw that there were 2 lines all of the sudden, and I tried asking for help at the window and was yessed to death with an attitude while she pointing a finger to another line. Definitely sensed a language barrier. While waiting on that line, I heard people talking about not needing to be online if you purchased tickets online. So now there are 3 lines! Got to the 3rd line only for it to be closed once I got there and then merged with the line I was originally in. I waited about 2 hours to get tickets and an hour to get in.

After the Acropolis, my favorite of all the ancient historical sites in Athens. The Ancient Agora is a vast site with plenty to see. Take your time to read the incredible history and amazing facts so that you can appreciate what you see that much more. The Temple of Hephaestus, located within the agora, is the best preserved structure, and makes for great pictures. Overall, this was an incredible place to walk around and enjoy!
Get a ticket early or you won't get in. I highly recommend first thing in the morning, or in the last hour before closing. The sun shining through is amazing. I thought it was stunning, but the temple is off limits. Having just recently visited the colosseum I wasn't as impressed. Still worth seeing of course!
This place is a must to do place in the heart of Athens, it got really crowded and is better if you buy tickets online. I'll give five stars but is not well organized to get inside the monuments.

Beautiful place to visit in Athens,a lot to see and walk. Be careful if you go in summer time,is really dry and extremely hot. Buy tickets online or in advance, the wait yo get in here is approx 30 min to an hour.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this beautiful gorgeous historic location? At times it is like stepping back in time, the pantheon, towering above you is clear even today. The sheer presence this building would have had when it was in its prime.
Certainly worth the €10 entrance fee. The Hephaestus Temple is beautiful, majestic!

Je n' ai pas pu rentrer, car c'est le même site que l'acropole et l'on ne savait pas que c'était le même site. Pour ici le mot passe de 5 jours ne signifie pas que l'on puisse rentrer de nouveau. Et le personnel n' est pas compréhensif.
Went back to the Motherland in July (the same week as the heat wave). Didn’t matter had a superb time even with the crowds.

Stunning to see in person, incredible to be there. You can feel the history and will end up spending a lot more time than you'd expect. Views of Athens are a bonus
Extremely beautiful and one of the most historic places on the planet. Definitely THE place to go when in Athens. Plan well, though. Wear what you would for a hike. The walkways are a bit slippery due the walking stone pathways being polished by thousands of years of walking. Bring water. No food is allowed though. There is water and snacks available in the area but the lines were very long. Go as early in the day as possible. It's very crowded and potentially very hot later in the day. Try to buy tickets online from the official website. It's not very clear where to go once there. We went to dinner the night before at a nice place with a cool nighttime view of the Parthenon. The outdoor market was fascinating. This is a good time to learn about the history and get some in-depth education about the Acropolis. The educational signs are very busy and hard to get a chance to read.
Loved the Agora. It was great to walk through the ruins and listen to my wife tell me nonstop how we’re walking in Socrates footsteps. While I didn’t have the chance to meet the guy, it was still a memorable experience. Don’t forget to go to the temple. It’s amazing!
One of the land's historically significant sites, can be walked around briskly, but most of the ruins can be viewed from behind the fence too.

Very breathtaking historical site, but super crowded. Make sure you get there at 8am and tour it as fast as you can, before you are hit by the high temperatures and the big waves of tourists and guide groups.
Ideally, get an audio guide of some sort for a proper experience and some explanations of what you are looking at - otherwise, you may find yourself a bit lost, looking at some imposing structures but not knowing any context.

A cool ancient marketplace with some ruins of fountains, columns, and a building with some groundbreaking technology of the time. Buy the 5 day 30 euro pass which will get you into a lot of the ruins around
Very nice historical place. The main attraction of Athens is to see.
In the summer it is very hot with high humidity which makes it difficult to travel and wait in line to buy tickets under the sun.
But the place itself is very nice and significant.
I suggest buying tickets in advance if possible.

Went with an acropolis and other sites ticket. It’s pretty low key but some interesting ruins at the back. I wouldn’t pay separately for it as you can see it all from outside.
Go there as early as possible. You can get a ticket for €30 that covers 7 places. Wonderful & historic place, the highlight of Athens definitely. Watch out when walking since there are many stones on the ground. Also, do not buy anything from the drink shop across the ticket office or you will be ripped off.
I really recommend buying tickets in advance and getting there about 15 minutes before opening so you don’t have to wait in the long line that is formed after opening.keep in mind that if your a EU youth under 25 you still have to have a ticket even though it’s free. You can either buy the ticket online or wait in different line to the ticket office
Amazing historical site in Athens! You can buy tickets ahead of time, during peak season I do recommend this. There are time slots to visit as well. If you are going to see multiple sites, you can buy the combo ticket. The walk-up is nice, I think going in the morning or evening is best to beat the heat / sun. Expect crowds. Easy walk up, and there is a lot to look at. Great way to overlook Athens too. Enjoy!
Very easy booking from the website, had the tickets easily accessible on my phone. Know that if you purchase the audio guide you need your own earbuds for that, so we missed out although we purchased it. Got there early at 8 and it was already crowded but be patient. It’s worth it. Amazing amazing history here with placards to educate. Very slippery rocks/stairs even in the dry heat. If you're doing it in August bring/buy water and purchase tickets for the museum too. It was dangerously hot and we were grateful for the respite we found in the Acropolis Museum, which was also amazing. The restaurant was delicious and affordable. The sites/education were incredibly interesting. Every site is easily accessible if you get dropped off near the acropolis. There’s also luggage storage nearby if you need. We walked 10.5 miles during our day and saw everything!

Nice to see ancient Roman buildings in the middle of the city.
The Roman was something out of history itself, well preserved and incredibly breathtaking to look at. However, it is currently closed for renovations so we could not walk inside, still 5 stars because being closed for renovation does not ruin the experience! Highly recommended!
Amazing place to visit! Really gives you some insight into the daily lives of the ancient Greeks. There really isn’t a lot of shade so i recommend you pick your time to visit wisely. I visited during the afternoon and it was super warm! There were only a few visitors there besides my group, so it was relatively calm. Make sure you read all the information on the signs as this will make you understand this place much better.
It’s and open ground site so barely shaded. Hard to visit during peak sun time. Not impressive while compared to other structures around. The site lacks informational boards except for one structure. You need to read about the Roman Forum ahead of time to appreciate its history. It’s a good to see site, but if time is limited in Athens then you could skip it.
Beautiful site. Well maintained. I arrived around 5 PM and not too many people. Great Acropolis views. Nice buildings and museum. I think this place and Acropolis are the indispensable sites to visit in Athens. If you want to avoid the crowds visit late afternoon.

Amazing place and I love how it has been partially restored. There is also a museum inside, which is included in the ticket. Speaking of the ticket, it is apart of the combined ticket for €30 with the Acropolis and a few other archeological sites or you can get in for free if you're an EU resident under 25. Overall I would definitely recommend visiting, there is just so much to see.

A lovely piece of Greek history. There was no queue to enter and it was not too busy inside. We used a city pass ticket to visit here. So did not need to pay on entry. The staff were friendly. However this venue we thought needed some more information boards. It lacked some historical explanations to the pieces of architecture, which was slightly disappointing.

This is an awesome place to visit, especially if you’ve already purchased the combination ticket!! You can walk right up to the ruins and really get a feel for how everything once looked. It’s in a great location, seeing as it is not too far from other major sites in Athens. I would definitely recommend coming at an earlier time of day, seeing as there’s not much shade and it can get very hot!

When we visited here, it was closed due to restorations. However we could see it from the street side. Some biblical scholars believe it is the market place which is mentioned in the book of Acts 17:5 (NT), that apostle Paul and his companion was greatly pursecuted. Worth visiting if you're interested in the history.
The significance of this place may sometimes be overlooked by the casual traveler to Greece, but for a history lover it's a must see! It's basically the birthplace of democracy.

Amazing experience. Well worth the visit. Busy day, but despite the amount of people here the crowds were managed very well. No problems taking photos. If you have luggage there is a free cloakroom to store bags.
It’s a small church/temple near the agora musuem. The detailing outside the church is well preserved and interesting to observe. It gives an insight on building techniques of the past. But it was closed when I visited so I was unable to enter.

Ο Αθανάσιος Διάκος (4 Ιανουαρίου 1788 - 24 Απριλίου 1821) ήταν ένας από τους Έλληνες πρωταγωνιστές ήρωες-οπλαρχηγούς του πρώτου έτους της Επανάστασης του 1821 που έδρασε στη Στερεά Ελλάδα. Σύμφωνα με μια εκδοχή, το πραγματικό του όνομα ήταν Αθανάσιος Γραμματικός[2][3][4][5] ή κατά άλλους ήταν Αθανάσιος Μασσαβέτας [6]. Μυήθηκε στη Φιλική Εταιρεία το 1818 και το 1820 έγινε αρματολός στη Λιβαδειά. Τον Απρίλιο του 1821 σε συνεργασία με άλλους οπλαρχηγούς κατέλαβε το φρούριο της Λιβαδειάς και χρησιμοποιώντας το σαν ορμητήριο, έδωσε πολλές νικηφόρες μάχες. Κατέλαβε την γέφυρα της Αλαμάνας και στις 23 Απριλίου 1821 έδωσε μάχη με τα στρατεύματα του Ομέρ Βρυώνη.
