This place is amazing! We went from Thessaloniki by car, around 3h, but it was worth the effort. We visited St Stephan Monastery and Holy Trinity and it was accepted only cash for the tickets. 3eur/person in May 2024. The monastery souvenir shop had a POS in place.Unique view!

Meteora is one of the best places I've visited so far, and in my opinion, it's a must-see destination with surreal wild scenery. Additionally, the history of the cliff-hanging monasteries is fascinating.

Amazing, amazing, amazing! Whatever can be written about it will be small compared to the greatness of this place. We visited it in the afternoon at the beginning of May and it was very peaceful - there were parking spaces and it was peaceful in the monasteries themselves.

Its divine. The views are beautiful. Lovely sunsets. Beautiful monasteries. Lovely hikes. Amazing restaurants. You need 2 days to really enjoy the place. Don't miss it.

Wonderful places!! It's definitely worth a visit or a day trip from nearby cities or Thessaloniki. (About 3 hours drive each way)

There is dress code for men and women. Men: long pants; women: long skirts.
They do have some cover up cloth for those guests who may need it.

Don't worry about the stairs, they are in good condition and enjoy the view as you get there.

Remember to being cash for the ticket (3 euro per adult visitor).
Roads are narrow and windy to go up or down as you enter the area. If you are easy to get car sick, be prepared for some remedies.

Avoid the peak tourist times if you can to enjoy the places quietly and leisurely. They are not very big, but so have some detailed religious work can be observed. Along with some Greek and English explanations.

Do watch out for signs for where photos or video not allowed. Be respectful and considerate. Enjoy your time and follow the rules and guidelines there. Don’t forget to visit the shops there to see if you may want to pick up some items.

This has to be a wonder of the world! You must put this on your bucket list. Avoid peak times and often the most enjoyable part is hiking around the mountains and not necessarily in the monasteries.

Speechless! It's definitely worth going to! Don't be alarmed by the stairs, they are in great condition and you can enjoy the view along the way. One important thing is to make sure to bring cash for the ticket (3 euro per non-Greek person). Also, don't stress about the dress code as women are offered a pareo.

A wonderful visit to the monasteries of Meteora. Read up on them first. Look at all the photos you want: no photo does the place justice.
There are 6 active active monasteries out of 24. Well worth the entry fee (3€ per person). Visit the shops for mementos.
Toilets are available in town and in the monasteries. I would recommend checking out the monastery toilets, it's an experience 😉.
One word of note: there is always one monastery that is closed, so make sure if you want to enter a particular one, if it's closed on your visiting day.
The most beautiful and the most spiritual place on Rhodes. It is a must-see, but first you need to take 300 steps up to the top. It is worth it! Just have a look at my photos and decide yourself.

This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. So peaceful. Would recommend a visit! We stopped in the shop and purchased a few gifts, the man serving us was so friendly and he introduced us to Houdini the dog!
Free coffee and biscuits was a nice touch too!

Small and very well kept church, place for prayer and joy.
This holy monastery on top of the hill is a nice walk from where you have a beautiful view of the surrounding area. But first you have to climb 300 steps. There is a book on the top where you can write down your wish as a keepsake.

Say what you like about monks they always know how to choose a view.

On a more serious note. The grounds are lovely and well maintained.
The church itself is beautiful.

The drive up is well worth it.

You can make in this place some good photos. But when we were there on Saturday evening there was a wedding at the same time with a lot of people...
Firstly it was not closed for tourist and all need to pay full ticket price, but people can't even go in the building with most beautiful views, because there was preparation for wedding...
This is a must visit destination when on the island of Rhodes. I recommend going early (0800) before the temperature rises and to enjoy the natural beauty with a lot less people. Drive all the way to the top just past the restaurant and park when you see the clearing. You will most likely see a few goats but they are harmless except for their smell. Take a bottle of water and begin the steady climb to the top. There are many places to stop, rest and enjoy the views. When you reach the monastery there are 360 degree views of the eastern side of the island. Please make an offering and light a candle before entering to see the icon.
Came up the south road and down the northen route. It looks like a dirt track to get from the south to the north but its fine. The views are stunning, well worth the drive even if you don't visit the monastery. Wouldn't want to breakdown up there, we only saw one other car.
Very nice and interesting Monastery in the same time. They could sell some books about the history of the place... The place is very relaxing, the Golgota road is shady and pleasant. The cross place offers an amazing panorama.
Our nice running trip to the hill. We ran from our hotel in the morning and really enjoyed the way up the hill. Finis coronat opus: 300 steps as the cherry on the top of the cake. Very nice place with Genius Loci. The outlook from the hill is breathtaking.

I had the privilege of visiting the remarkable Moni Tari monastery, a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Rhodes. As one of the oldest monasteries on the island, its historical significance is palpable as soon as you set foot on its grounds. The monastery's central location on the island makes it an ideal retreat for those seeking a tranquil and authentic experience away from the tourist crowds.

The sense of quietude at Moni Tari is truly unparalleled. The serene atmosphere envelopes you as you explore the monastery's intricate architecture, well-preserved relics, and peaceful courtyards. It's as if time itself slows down within these ancient walls, allowing for moments of reflection and connection with the past.

What sets Moni Tari apart is its relative obscurity among tourists. This lack of crowds provides an opportunity to absorb the spirituality and history of the place in an uninterrupted manner. The solitude lends itself to a more intimate connection with the surroundings, allowing you to fully appreciate the monastery's significance without distraction.

Visiting Moni Tari felt like embarking on a journey through time, stepping into the footsteps of those who sought solace and devotion in this sacred space for centuries. For travelers seeking an authentic and peaceful encounter with Rhodes' rich history, Moni Tari is an essential destination that rewards those who venture off the beaten path.

According to tradition, the monastery was founded by the daughter of a Byzantine emperor, a Byzantine Princess, who was plagued by a deadly illness and miraculously healed. The ship which transported her from Constantinople, traveled to the port of Lindos and from there she moved to the area of Tharrio. The water of the spring that was found there and the fresh air contributed to her recovery. In return for her healing, she erected the monastery. The fountain to be found today about 100m. southwest of the Katholikon and outside the precinct, is believed to be the same of which the princess was healed, and is considered as a holy water.
Beautiful monastery, peaceful place and full of peacocks. The monastery is one of the archeological sites within Rhodes and it has some constructions dated from Bizantine time. I do recommend going there early in the morning during the summer season, it is chilly! The ticket cost 6€ and children up to 13 did not pay, at least in our case!
Nice visit and very peaceful. I only saw the sign afterwards that I was not to take any photos inside the church. Apologies. It was super hot, so we only stayed a short while.

A lovely, calm, and interesting place to visit (for free!) as part of the butterfly valley experience or a hike around that part of the island.
Small church but the best thing is the view of the island.
a special monastery with an extraordinarily beautiful building
You can see this place has history is beautiful in the evening light. There’s a big car park and you’re charged entry when you walk up. The toilets are basic but clean. It feels like they’re very much improving the venue and it’s getting ready for tourist season. It’s missing a coffee shop and any information about the place.
Amazing views. €6 though to wander around and not see inside the buildings was a bit disappointing. It looks like they are making improvements for the future… the peacocks were stunning!

A beautiful and tranquil place to visit
Wonderful community of prayer which is expanding. Thanks be to God. The new church is awesome and the interior decoration has not begun. Thoroughly enjoyed the people as well as the place. Thanks to all concerned
Nice little church on top of a hill with very nice views over the Valley of Butterflies.

Stop at 1st stop from the Butterfly valley and walk to the Monastery through the valley. It is worthwhile the entrance fee with or w/o butterflies. June seems to be the 🦋 month. Avoid very hot or rainy days (slippery stones)
Quaint little monastery. Not a great deal to see as it is small but certainly worth the visit even if just for the views around the grounds.
We only got to see outside because it was closed but very nice
Generally speaking, it’s a nice place with nice views. I do believe the monastery is more beautiful during the summer. We were here in may, the flowers and plants weren’t yet blooming so the place seemed a bit grey and boring. The entrance to the monastery costs 6 euros which on one hand isn’t much but on the other it doesn’t give you much. Honestly I wouldn’t judge anyone if they skipped the monastery part and went the other way to the cross and scenic view of Rhodes. Much more worth it + free. The entrance to the monastery is free for people under 25 from Europe. People under 25 outside Europe pay half price. There’s a small shop with drinks and candy which is super cheap so that’s a plus. There are Indian peafowls and pheasants running around freely but they seem calm and aren’t attacking tourists. A good and productive option is to go there by foot, the satisfaction you get once you make it to the top is unreal. However most people get there by cars. There’s a bus stop at the top but during spring (may) no buses were going there, so maybe in the summer when the tourist period starts. Worth the visit for the views.
Rhodes without this-You missed a lot. Please go to visit and let it make You peaceful. Taxi up, walking down recommended. Beautiful scenery. Peacocks noises are still on my head. Positive way.
Respect the nature and the monastery peace.🤍

I like that there are not a lot of blocked off areas. 6 euros to get in but it is a nice place with lots of places to take pictures. Restrooms are ok. Peacocks everywhere. There is a bus stop at the top but sure which one goes there.

Very calm and quiet place with a great View.
Tremendous church with very old Icons. Pleased respect the Rules for clothes to visit a orthodox church and monastery!!
A must see when you are interested.
Wonderful peaceful working monastery in the mountains. After many years the new church adjacent to the monastery is finally complete with stunning architecture. Inside the walls of the monastery itself is the original small church still used daily by the nuns which visitors are welcome to visit.

Unless you love hill walking it’s best to drive up (go slowly round the mountain bends near the top!) and there are toilets just below the car park. It’s always good to carry extra drinks out in Rhodes, and this is a perfect spot to have a break. Climbing the steps from the car park up to the cross provides a magnificent view of the monastery and much of the island.

Please note, visitors are asked to be respectfully/modestly covered inside. A basket of wraparound ‘sarong’ style garments is available at the gate for anyone wanting to cover legs. Just be reasonable.

We took a trip here to see the monastery. The roads were good to get there. It was very peaceful. The gardens are beautiful. As quiet as it was we still felt welcomed.
We lit a candle for a loved one and donated to the box before we left.

A beautiful, calm and quiet monastery located in the middle of nature with 900 year old olive trees and beautifully preserved art and architecture that has withstood many years.

Entrance is free, but please leave a donation at the church.

The grounds are very serene. You can walk around the gardens and see their impressive establishment.

Some of the electricity is produced from solar panels.

The priest was very friendly and spoke perfect English, and good German.

No photos allowed in the church.

Beware if you have bee allergies, as they’re all over this area.

Local honey and olive oil available for purchase for very fair prices.

You can park nearby.
I'd have liked an opportunity to go up the bell tower!
Quiet place, far from the main touristic paths. Spiritual atmosphere. But be patient - both roads leading there are not easy to drive. Narrow streets, lots of curves, animals, in some places steep. I travelled there by 125ccm scooter. But the views - unforgettable!
A small monastery not far from the main coastal road. Every building and small structure is so accurate and clean! A lot of mosaic pavement in the yard. There's a free parking in front of the entrance.

Very beautiful. It has a very beautiful kind of garden area and the building itself from the outside is very beautiful. The paintings inside and that cover most of the walls and roof are very beautiful and well done. There are many ornamented tables and religious tools etc there. The only downside is that it’s quite creepy if you’re there in the night as well as being very very hot inside.
Amazing place.
So peaceful.
On the day we visited the monastery was open and we were able to speak to the resident nuns.
A brand new church is under construction, and is due to be opened on 15th October 2022, so we'll definitely be returning to se it.
We are not religious people, but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this peaceful haven tucked away in the hills above Lardos, Rhodes.

Beautiful monastery in an isolated but scenic place. Fabulous views of the west coast of Rhodes from the monastery. The monastery by itself is very well maintained. The place has a very peaceful ambience and one can spend an hour or so enjoying the peace and taking in the scenery around. Definitely worth a visit
A place to visit while in Rhodes. Pater Gennadios will always be there to welcome you at this magnificent church with splendid view. A small shop is always open for those who would like to contribute to the church by getting a small souvenir.
3 stars since the place is not accessible. Looks nice from the outside. I'm here now, both front gate and door are closed. It's mid-day. A priest came with a car and told me the place is closed for tourists (start Sep).
The views are breathtaking. The drive along the mountains is sooo amazing. Then you see this small church on the mountains. It’s very beautiful, well maintained and renovated then and there. There was a man at the church shop and he was very nice. He even gave us some lemonade to drink. The history of the church is very interesting. It’s a must visit. We loved this place very much. From this place you can drive through „mesanagros“ as you can see the direction mentioned. It’s worth to take this road although google does not know it. The road is very nice and the views are breathtaking. It’s a must visit place and a must visit drive from this place to mesanagros .
It’s a small and cute monastery, at the very top of the butterfly valley. You can visit it before entering into the butterfly valley. It has some parking place in front of it. Interestingly, once you enter the premises of the church, you will encounter an amazing view of The Valley itself. It’s worth the stop. The monastery also has a small shop for refreshments that you can buy there, lots of benches and tables to sit and enjoy the breathtaking views, a small shop for goods, and a small tiny museum. The back of the church also has a toilet.
Pěkné upravené místo.

Prachtige kerk in Koskinou. Helaas gesloten. Lekker koud water tappen tegenover de ingang
Nice monastery above butterflies valley, worth additional steps up the hill. It has a small interesting museum, as well as WC and vending machine for drinks (less expensive than at the bar at the exit of the butterflies valley).
Beautiful setting, friendly and helpful nuns with some really nice homemade products. They were even Letting people taste some of the products outside of the old church. It was so peaceful and charming. I would recommend the climb up the cross, the view is excellent and very photogenic from up there. The new church wasn't finished but looked close to completion and I'm sure it will be amazing when completed. The old church is a lot smaller but is just as impressive in its own ways
Nice church
This small Monastery is hidden in the mountains not far from Lardos. Nice and very quiet place with only few Nuns. You can go inside the very small church or you can go up to the Golgota.
you drive on top of the hill to visit this historic chapel of prophitis ilias you get an astonishing vew of the city of RHODES and and the North eastern sea

Beautiful and peaceful place. Need to cover yourself before entering the premises. The gift shop had nice little souvenirs.
