OMG.....the roman ruins under the cathedral are amazing. This made my holiday worthwhile, and I loved it ❤️
Wirklich sehenswerter Kathedrale.
Beautiful. Magnificent. Glorious. It is difficult to put in to words the experience of visiting a cathedral such as this.
A highlight of Lucca.
I'll let the pictures try to show how beautiful it is.
I've added more pictures under updates as well.
Definietely worth time and money. Bell tower is the highiest in Lucca and the view just breathtaking. Cathedral has lots of historical aspects to see. Also big + for EN explanations. We went there at thd opening hour at 12 and thr rays of light from the stained glass were really out of this world.

A stunning cathedral offering access to its rooftop for breathtaking views of Palermo. There is a fee to access the roof, and reaching it involves climbing spiral steps through narrow passages, making it unsuitable for strollers and wheelchairs.

Ganz toll.

Another beautiful Italian cathedral, something to be proud of if you're Neapolitan, and to wonder at for visitors.

Highlights are the columns, the bapistry, the inspirational high altar, and a marbled crypt.

Imposing building from the outside. Women must have their shoulders covered in order to enter.
I did not go in as I was eager to leave Palermo.
Personally there aren’t many attractions and if you drive here, it is a nightmare to find parking.

Not the most impressive cathedral in Sicily, but certainly a cool one to visit and experience for yourself with plenty to offer in terms of art, history, culture and views.

Access to the Cathedral itself is free.

You can pay 7 euro for the ticket that gives you access to the terraces and the crypts. Other ticket options available.

Make sure to arrive an hour before they close if you’re looking to see the view from above at sunset.

Payments accepted with cash or card.

Steep stairs make it nearly impossible for wheelchair access to the top. Watch your head if you’re a tall person!

I stopped by the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de l'Ascension, and I must say, it was quite the sight! The exterior was impressive, and the interior was adorned with beautiful artwork and decorations. Checking out the relics of Saint Januarius was a highlight

Semplicemente viva e fantastica
Absolutely gorgeous cathedral you simply just have to see. The entrance is free, and the artwork there is truly special and worth the visit a hundred times.
Built in Norman style from 1184, the Cathedral of Palermo is an absolute must for every Palermo visitor! This building impresses its visitors not only with its imposing construction, but also with its rich decoration inside.
For German visitors, the special fact is that, among other things, the grave of Emperor Friedrich II is located inside.
Another highlight is a visit to the roof with a panoramic view of the square in front and the historic western city center of Palermo.
What a stunning building, so ornamental, so unique!

Inside, the church is rather plain but still beautiful.

We thought the best part was climbing up to the roof, the views were amazing. The stairs are very steep and narrow, make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes.

The most famous landmark of Naples. A must-see place. The church is so beautiful from outside, inside, ceiling, wall, and everything. You can literally spend all day looking at everything. The day we visited was a nice sunny day. The sunlight came through the well-designed high windows and covered one side of the church with golden light. It creates such peaceful and blessed atmosphere inside the church.

Sehr eindrückliche, mächtige und historische Kathedrale. Schlicht und frei von übermässigem Schmuck. Sehenswert.

It's under major maintenance outside and a small one inside, and you can see the ladder in the photo, but it's one of the main walkable destinations you can visit in Palermo.
Cattedrale di Palermo, a masterpiece of Norman architecture, graces Palermo's skyline with its majestic presence. Built in the 12th century, the cathedral boasts a unique blend of architectural styles, showcasing influences from various periods. Its intricate details, including Arab-Norman mosaics and Gothic elements, create a visual feast. The cathedral offers insightful guided tours that unravel its historical and artistic significance, providing a deeper understanding of Sicily's cultural evolution. A visit to Cattedrale di Palermo is not just a glimpse into the past but a profound exploration of the island's rich heritage and architectural splendor.
Typical Italian church but the Nativity scene was unusual and special.
Another beautiful church, embedded in the buildings of the old town. atmosphere both during the day and in the evening. Ascetic interior, without splendor. You can focus on prayer.
Gorgeous architecture, beautifully painted ceilings, truly unique in that it’s all beaming white stone AND catholic mass is celebrated upstairs while orthodox mass is celebrated in the crypt next to the remains of Saint Nicholas. A one of a kind treasure!

Absolutely beautiful place to visit. The history is so fascinating and beautiful. The architecture is amazing. Every wall and every column is breathtaking! Take the time to stop and visit. You won’t be disappointed!
Bari’s cathedral bears the beautiful name Cattedrale di San Sabino and is located in the old town. The impressive church is dedicated to Saint Sabinus, who was once bishop of Canosa. The Cathedral of San Sabino is beautiful but less famous than the nearby Basilica of St Nicholas, although it is the seat of the Archbishop of Bari.
The Lucca Cathedral is a lovely place. It's really pretty outside and peaceful inside. You can go up the tower for nice views of the city. It's not too busy, so it's a nice place to see if you like old buildings and history.

The place is a must visit when in Palermo. The excursion to the roof top which costs €7 per person was worth it in terms of the panoramic experience, and expensive when considering that the amount only gives access to the view for 10 minutes (no time limit....but how much time can one spend on a platform shaped roof of 20 mtrs length by 1 mtr width?). The price should be revised down in my opinion.
Peaceful church...they charge 0.50 cent for the toilet but there was no toilet paper and dirty.

Palermo Cathedral is an incredibly lavish building. Every single detail is perfectly executed. Although I have been to the Vatican, I have not seen a more amazing and magnificent cathedral. Maintained and with a unique view both outside and inside. As long as he asks, for 7€ a person goes up to the roof, from where he has the opportunity to look at Palermo from above, as well as being closer to the tops - the towers of the impressive creation! Preserved in time. If I have to describe it in a few words - magnificence and opulence!

Amalfi Cathedral is a medieval Roman Catholic cathedral in the Piazza del Duomo. It is dedicated to Saint Andrew the Apostle, whose relics are kept here. we were on a guided tour of the town of Amalfi. This included a very pleasant tour of the cathedral.

Pretty expensive visit to the roof for 7 euro, but it's a nice view from up there. Don't be confused by the higher lines. Look further down, and you will find the price for only the roof. It's a rather easy walk with steps, not too many so doable for pretty much everybody.

Beautiful Cathedral of Amalfi. Home to relics of St Andrew.
€4 entrance fee. The inside is air conditioned. Amazing display of Spanish and Italian architecture. Lots of history to be found here! The steps are unmissable, lots of people are taking pictures here

Expect to spend around 30 minutes here if you look at everything, but you could spend much more
Great place. Good view. Pleasent place.

This cathedral is truly a feast for the eyes. The ornaments, the aisles, the tombs... Everything in this place makes you feel the sacredness of the place.I really recommend seeing this cathedral, also because from above it allows you to see the roofs of Palermo and truly appreciate every part of it.

Worth a visit and tickets are 4 euros for adults. Arabic inspired garden and a crypt that has relic/bones of Saint Andrew?
One of the most beautiful places I've seen in my trip! I was impressed by the glass work done in the church and still am. The roof is follows same path. And a good characteristic of the visit, is not a expensive.
An interesting museum with a small museum outlining the history of this Basilica. Free entry so worth a visit.

Be ready to be amazed by beauty.
The stairs will take you to the entrance of the museo Paradise Cloister, to move then to the Basilica of the Crucifix, the Diocesan Museum, the Crypt (my favourite) and the cathedral at the end. There is an entrance fee of 4€ and you can have a brochure, very well done, taken care by Soprintendenza Belle Arti and Dioces of Amalfi.
After here I went to see the view where there is the Cemetery. You can take a lift up or challenge the 300 steps.

Pretty cool place to see. I liked that it has a rooftop accessible and also down to the crypt. It was hot outside was relatively cool inside the cathedral, even with all the people. Line wasn't too long at high season.

The crypts were cool to see with a few tombs and other artifacts. I found it to be a good stop.
Lovely church, went to Mass on a Sunday, made to feel welcome. Good organist and lovely music. Evidently all in Italian, but still very good. Priest felt very personable
A beautiful place, makes an amazing impression, you feel tiny.
Lovely place to embrace some Italian history and religion. Peaceful surroundings. Stunning architecture. If you are female and have your shoulders bare, be prepared to be asked to wear a cape (provided by the cathedral warden) as a mark of respect. Well worth a visit. No fee to enter but they do have a donations box at the doorway. Also, there is the opportunity to donate and light a candle for loved ones who have passed.

A daunting set of steps lead you up to an impressive building. Once inside, the feeling of calm and serenity is matched only by the beautiful architecture and artwork. A treat for your soul.
Best 4€ spent! This is a must stop! Beautiful on the outside, it doesn’t look much when you first enter, but they have nice artifacts and an amazingly beautiful crypt and last but not least very nice cathedral.
Beautiful church in the center of the old city. It deserves a visit.
An astonishing historical place with amazing archeological treasures under the building. On the way to the crypt, there is an entry to the archeological site. Two early Christian churches and a stunning floor mosaic. Highly recommended!

As you approach Amalfi by boat, the cathedral bell tower is clearly visible from the sea and is a lovely sight. The cathedral itself possesses a Byzantine beauty, with its bell tower decorated by marble and majolica. The impressive façade was mostly rebuilt in the late 19th century, its pediment decorated with mosaics, and is approached by an imposing set of sixty-two steps leading up to the entrance doors. It is two churches which have been merged into one cathedral. The interior is varied and splendid, and includes the Crypt of St Andrew. There is a garden containing colonnades, arches, and sculptures.

Lucca is a hidden treasure, the town is historical in every inch it's a must visit while you visit Tuscany.
its a medieval cityscape, well preserved, so you can stroll through Lucca's picturesque alleyways, across impressive squares.
Via antica ed elegante
Went to the Puccini and Mozart summer concert series. There were 2 Opera singers, one Soprano and one Alto, and a Pianist. We were in a small church next to the Basilica museum, and the sound was incredible! The concert lasted about an hour. A wonderful experience. Arrive early, close to 6pm, when they open the doors. We had front row seats :)
Very interesting cathedral. Beside the crypt there is a small museum to see the privious church under this one. The place made also for wheelchair users 👏
You really can see how the current bigger building was built over few smaller churches and temples. The mosaic very impressive.
If the museum is closed look for the person who is in charge in the church. It is worth
Absolutely beautiful Cathedral of Sorrento. It has an amazing miniature display of everyday life. You will spend quite a few minutes taking pictures! Well worth the visit.

From the outside this looks like very simple white church. But if you go inside you can watch a beautiful cathedral. I recommend to take a look at it if you are in Sorrento.
I bought the combo ticket for 10 euro, which includes the cathedral, the bell tower and the museum. The cathedral is the highlight of the show. It is filled with beautiful sculptures , frescos and paintings. The museum is just OK, 10 minutes in and out, not much to see. The view from the top of the bell tower is very good, but you can't take a single photo, because all the windows are covered with dense metal wires.

Beautiful church in the heart of Sorrento. You can find a real 3D Christmas installation inside. Angels, people, buildings, and landscape they all are crafted with some materials and look so real. There are so many details that you can contemplate this scene for a long time
