Best Formal wear stores in United States

I would definitely NOT recommend this place. First, they tried to sell us a dirty dress. Second, we wanted to show other people the dress because it’s for a special occasion; they refused to put the dress on hold until the next morning and don’t give refunds (store credit only). Most small businesses on Newbury street are kind and work with you, but not this one. The dresses are not cheap so a store credit only policy doesn’t make sense when you only like one dress and want to try it at home.

I am AMAZED by the staff at Windsor, Burlington Mall, Burlington, Massachusetts. Curteous, helpful and managing the prom chaos with style. We called to hold a dress because we were coming from two states away. There was one left in my granddaughter's size. The call disconnected before we could provide a name. We couldn't reach them (for good reason- it was crazy busy) We got there and they had the dressed held with a note "girl coming from Maine".

The young women were doing their best, though understaffed. They never lost their cool and managed the waiting line for the dressing room. We were in and out in a reasonable amount of time for peak prom season. We left feeling good and anxious to do a good review. Way to go Windsor staff. You rocked it out of the park today

To anyone looking to have a positive experience do not go here. My wife and daughter went to this establishment yesterday (2/22/24) to purchase her prom dress and were treated with the upmost disrespect and unprofessionalism. I don’t understand how the owner could have an establishment such as this but have no sense of politeness. I am not one to write reviews but when it deserves one I’ll make sure I find the time. SHOUTOUT TO EROS out of Square one Mall in Saugus. My daughter purchased a beautiful dress right afterward and the day went as planned. Have a great day everyone.

Couture is the best mens clothing store in San Francisco. The owner, David, is the most knowledge person I have ever met on fabrics, personal style and product quality/value. He has full offering of casual, business and formal attire as well as full alterations. David is one stop shop of the highest quality mens clothing for any occasion. More importantly, David will give you candid advice on appropriate fit and colors that look the best on you.

I used to be a Saks 5th Ave, Nordstrom and Niemen's customer. I now exclusively shop with David now. I have purchased clothes for all occasions and get a compliment every time I wear his pieces. I get higher quality and unique products that fit perfectly. You are wasting your time shopping other places and the pieces you get from David will last much longer due to quality of fabric.

Call the shop make an appointment, you will not be disappointed. I am a male with a finance job that requires a lot of travel for in person meetings and proper attire. I live hour and half away from David and his shop. The time required to get his advice, attention to detail and kindness is worth every penny!!!!!!!

I was looking for my wedding dress for my very special day. I scheduled my appointment with Lawanda. It was the best decision! She was so very helpful, kind, & made me feel like a princess. Everything about my visit was outstanding. This was my first custom fitting. I didn’t feel rushed and I left feeling pleased and happy with my decision to get a custom tailored suit. I would absolutely recommend everyone I know, both male and female, to Indochino!

Nice store but the cashier took the hanger for a dress I need the very next day which greatly increases the chances of it getting wrinkled, just thrown into a bag - they need to teach the workers better

This company has it figured out!! Best suit buying experience for any occasion. Best options in customization, fabric, and value. Love having a physical location in Las Vegas but even using their online services, they stand by their produ t to make the best fitting suits possible.

Indochino has been my go-to for a while on formalwear and I was very happy to find Vinni at the Las Vegas location. after moving from Phoenix, I wasn't sure if this location would be as good as my regular Scottsdale location but to my surprise, it is an even better experience. Make your appointment, ask for Vinni, and your day cant get any better.

Buying a suit from David was the best shopping experience of my life. I needed a suit for my wedding and he more than delivered, giving me the best suit of my life. He listens well, has great suggestions, and makes sure you get exactly what you need. He has fantastic style (both traditional and modern) and will give you the best fit of any shop in town. David at Couture Uomo is one of the best clothiers and haberdashers in San Francisco. David is kind, honest, and will always guide you to look your best for any occasion. David can help plan your special day or build your wardrobe perfectly. I have worked with David on a navy blazer for everyday use and business attire and he has helped me with a few pairs of pants. Most important, David has a vast network of tailors that work their magic on his garments for a fit that is perfect. I 100% recommend David for all your needs in formal wear, suits, weddings. David is a master!

We came here for my moms wedding dress and Rosa the salesperson helped us so much! She was patient and gave us great advice. Beautiful dresses and great quality! I recommend overall.

I would like to thank Jessica and Paige (? think this was the other clerk) for their outstanding customer service. I bought a few items that were displayed on the sales rack and when I went home, I realized that I was charged full price. Although I'll have to return these items because I bought them thinking they were on final sale, I really appreciated the extra time and effort Jessica and Paige took to help me. They were helpful, courteous, detailed and kind. This store is immaculately organized. I always find the store to be impeccably organized, very eye catching, how they display by color, of classic style and great quality for the price. I love to check out their sale rack on the second floor. They also have a wonderful formal and cocktail dress section for formal events.

Maddey was super helpful, she got me all measured and the suit came perfectly. I went back to her for a for a fitting, we didn’t need any alterations but she did teach me how to use cuff links. 10/10 would recommend and will be back. Ask for Maddey!

There are hundreds of styles but not enough midi dresses. Floor length gowns and super mini cocktail dresses but not enough in the middle. Also plus size women need dress styles they can wear bras with. Too many strapless, backless dresses. You will see a beautiful dress; it just might not fit your body type. The sales staff was amazing. Then I did find 2 dresses I loved. I didn't buy them at the time but I'm considering buying at least 1 of them. I need the proper occasion to wear such a beautiful, expensive dress.

This shop is super cute and has a lot of great apparel for both men and women. Their accessories and handbags are adorable, fashionable, and at a reasonable price. The apparel can get a bit pricey, but all of it is eye-catching and seems to be of high quality. They also have an incredible almost hidden large section of formal dresses! So if you're looking for a unique dress for your next formal event, you should certainly stop by and check out their great selection!

Huge older outlet store with a mix of Macy's items and stuff from other stores. You'll find clothes, pillows, furniture, prom dresses, etc. Some products are newly received. Others look like they've been sitting there a while. It's does smell like moth balls lol but if you like venturing around in big outlet stores then you might enjoy this one.

We had to pick out a wedding suit, and David provided TOP NOTCH advice and care in helping us select a suit. My fiancé then got taken with all the amazing, gorgeous clothes, and we ended up with a couple beautiful outfits. David KNOWS HIS STUFF. And he really gets to know you, what you like to do, how you like clothes to feel on you. We look forward to a collaborative relationship and already have plans to return in Fall to look at the new styles. Thank you, David. OUTSTANDING service and quality European menswear.

Went to the Dillard's clearance center. The store is cluttered & the clearance price isn't discounted enough for me. The employees are disgruntled. Upon checking out, the security guard & cashiers are RUDE! I asked where does the line started, and the guard said, "Just walk up to the registers." There were other ppl that were lost also! Upon checking out, the cashier acted as if she didn't want to touch my item. She sealed the bag with tape & barely handed the receipt to me, to where it almost flew away before I caught it.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. My daughter and I went she was trying on some dresses and was told she couldn’t try on the whole store. First off that is completely rude. If you want customers to abide by your policy than frame it where we can see. It wasn’t so much the policy but the attitude. We did ordered the dress because it wasn’t so much about helping you as a store but what my daughter wanted and for you to cancel the order because a review just shows how immature and unprofessional this business or whoever runs it. Train your employees to the standards that you want your customers to follow. Worst establishment I’ve seen in my entire life.

We came here to look for a shorter dress to wear after my larger quinceañera dress. The dresses were very pretty but i did not like the customer service. I would have bought a lot of things here if It weren’t for the bad customer service. One of the ladies who helped us was very kind and didn’t mind showing us the dresses. On the other hand, the other lady had a lot of attitude from the moment we stepped in. She kept making rude comments about the dresses I liked. I tried on 3 dresses two of which I didn’t like, when I asked to try on one last dress the oldest lady there made a rude comment to my mom about how we “can’t be trying on all the dresses” so my mom responded by telling her to have some patience. This lady proceeded to raise her voice at my mother telling her that that’s “not how it works” and had an extreme attitude towards my mother telling her that we couldn’t try on all the dresses and that if the shop were full we wouldn’t be able to try on “the whole store.” My mom told her that 1. The shop wasn’t full. and 2. she had to be more patient with her customers if she actually wanted business. I want to say that these were not big dresses and did not take much time to get off the mannequins. Also, the women who helped us never let us know about any set “limit” for the amount of dresses we could try on, so obviously we were going to try on however many dresses we wanted. I ended up not trying the last dress I wanted to try. What was unfortunate about this experience was that my mom had planned to buy not only my dress, but her dress, my sisters dress, my crown, my bear, and maybe even my bouquet there. We had to take the rest of our business elsewhere.

10/10 Employee was very helpful, she gave us many options to try on. Gave us her opinion. Customer Service was exceptional. Joselin’s boutique has a great employee.

I have been shopping at joselins since 2020 and have always found everything needed for my events for my daughter's and myself. They have never failed with their service and have always been able to adapt to our needs. Recommend them 💯

06082023: Back in Boston shufflin' down Newbury Street. The female figure and I were stopped by the street mannequin with the black and white dress, stylish.
Others inside were equally stylish along with some well-shaped A-frame/cut skirts for summer outings. We had great service, but we also don't monkey around "looking." If we're in the store, then something's getting purchased. A long-time established store with an owner that has seen the evolution of Newbury Street over time had fun stories to share. Why 4 and not 5 stars? The label said disappointingly to me for various reasons "Made in China." I think a similar dress could be made/assembled in the US, and that would be for me at least preferred. If that doesn't concern you, then enjoy the pleasingly unique, clean-lined styles. For sure, you'll look great at your next gathering.

We dashed in The Outlets to quickly pick out one blouse for an interview and ended up shopping for 2 hours. Because of the great selections and prices, I didn’t just buy my interview blouse but I also bought 4 more shirts. Our entire shopping experience was great❣️ Thank you

Tashia, the sales woman was such a delight! I was looking for a prom dress and she was so patient with me and was always willing to help. She was so kind and i did not feel any pressure from her to walk out of a store with the dress like other places do. Overall it was a great experience and I ended walking out with my dream prom dress.

The Morgan Formal Flocked Velvet dress saved the day!!! My local dry cleaners ruined my original dress I was going to wear to my friends wedding the Day before her wedding at 6pm. I RANNNN to the Newport Mall, Jersey City. Went straight to Windsor, and the Manager and sales associates were the BEST, Vilma, Mia and Brianna, this was back in August 2022. I saw this dress and my heart dropped, but they didn't have my size on the floor yet ( since they were restocking) Mia and Brianna were helping me find different dresses that fit my vibe, my size, with only 30 minutes before they close, they were still giving me the best service. Months later I am still beyond grateful. I was about buy a different dress, but the manager could see I really wanted the green dress. She went above and beyond to find my size. I literal CRIED at the register. I was SO HAPPPY!!!!!!

Today my fiancé and I went in to shop for a suit for our wedding and we had the absolute pleasure of working with David Yahid. David is extremely knowledgeable not only when it comes to the structure, fit and quality of a suit but he understands how colors and fabrics work together. As part of David’s process he asked us to see our wedding venue so that he could appropriately recommend colors that would be good for outdoors - he also observed a picture of where the alter would be and made recommendations based on us potentially being in the shade. David also asked what colors I would have in my bouquet so that he could make a proper recommendation on what color my fiancés tie should be. We were absolutely blown away by David’s expertise as well as preciseness. We could not recommend Couture as well as David enough!

The two girls working there today were such great help! I went in for a dress and was ver indecisive, they asked me about what event it was for and helped me decide. Windsor is one of my favorite stores to shop at and having great customer service is always a plus!

Shout out to Anne at the Kenwood location. She was extremely helpful and genuinely friendly. She assisted with my online purchase & informed me of the discount I would receive. Thank you for your help and your can do attitude!

Passed by this place many times and thought it was closed and found out that it was still operating. They close very early at 6pm. There’s only a few cars parked in a huge parking lot. Very deserted. I don’t know how they stay in business.

LITERALLY BEST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD! The girls were super helpful went to look in the back for like 20 dresses they thought I would like, and on top of that they helped me match it with jewelry and steam it. Customer service 12/10. Plus they have a great dress selection! I love it here

After visiting Dillards, Macy’s, Nordstrom, and just about every other store at the Kenwood mall, I lost hope that I would find a dress for an upcoming wedding. When someone recommended Windsor, they exceeded my expectations. The prices were exponentially more affordable, yet the dresses were just as beautiful as the ones I saw at the other stores I just wish they had more styles/sizes. The best thing about this store is their employees. I spoke to a very kind employee named Amy who helped pick out several dresses in order to help me decide. She was patient, sweet, and genuine. I’ve worked in retail before and I know when someone just wants the sale. This was not the case with her, I could tell she genuinely cared about helping me find a dress I was happy with. She is the number one reason I will be returning in the future. (I actually ended up buying two dresses because of her!) give that woman a raise!

I had a horrible experience with who I assume to be the owner’s daughter. I booked an appointment for my daughter to go see dresses and find her dream dress for her special day. She tried on the first one, we all loved it but she wanted to try more, this said girl hesitated and started making excuses so she wouldn’t have to take the dresses off the mannequins, which I don’t understand why they have people make an appointment if they won’t even give us the time of day, she took down one more dress and that was it, anything else my daughter was considering she kept making faces and giving us excuses on why she shouldn’t pick that one, my daughter just wanted the experience of trying on dresses. We ended up buying the first dress she tried mostly because we didn’t have that much time till her big day. The dress was bought in February, we were told the dress should’ve been in by May, comes end of May and we still haven’t heard anything, I call them and again this said girl asks for a number on the receipt in order to look for the dress, I told her I didn’t have it, she didn’t even offer another way she could look it up, and I know it could’ve been done, since that same day one of my family members called and he was able to get the information without the receipt. He was told that the dress would be there in 2 weeks max, 2 weeks pass and we haven’t heard anything, he calls on a weekend and was told someone would contact him the beginning of the week, he call on Tuesday of said week before opening time, he called several times but only because he didn’t look up the opening time which is 11 am, so he just kept on calling early morning. Once again this said girl now calls me very angry and begins to tell me in a super rude tone that it is ridiculous that he has called that many times, I told her that if she is going to be in the business she should expect for people to call that many times, that he did nothing wrong but call because we needed an update on the dress, the party was less than a month away and we needed the dress asap for a photography session, we had deadlines to meet. She then told me very angry and annoyed that she hadn’t heard from the company where the dress was coming from and that she had to pay 200 dollars to have the dress expedited, I still have no idea why if the dress was bought in February, I did tell her that it wasn’t my problem they had to pay, she should’ve made us aware something was going on, she got even angrier when I told her that, so she told me she was going to cancel our order, began swearing at me and then proceeded to hang up the phone. After reasoning with the owner she assured my family member the dress would be there the end of the week. If it wasn’t because my daughter’s quinceañera was less than a month away, I would’ve absolutely cancelled the order and I would’ve taken my money elsewhere. I highly suggest people not to go there, not to mention the store has absolutely no space to even walk around. This said employee does not belong working with the public. Please take your money somewhere else, where they are going to give your daughters the time of day, and a wonderful experience that any quinceañera should have!

I went there to look at the summer shoes and Megan and the other very nice sales associate were as sweet as can be. The store is very clean and nice. It’s cozy and when I peaked at the sizes they, had nice variations for different body types. They have very high quality items, and the jewelry was cute too. I am so sorry I forgot the other young ladies name. Their customer service was amazing. Thanks for being so sweet and accommodating. I’ll see you all again soon.

I went in the store because the display/setup of the store drew my attention, yet a little nervous because I am a guy shopping for my mother's birthday gift. Alejandra made the vist alot more smooth, She totally helped me with an outfit and was really patient with me (btw my mother loved the outfits!) 🤩 I am thankful she was there because she has an amazing taste for fashion and I personally could not have chosen an outfit without her😊

We were going for dinner and walked by this store. Went in on a whim because my daughter liked a dress. I have to say, this was a surprising gem. Not only the amazing variety of clothing and sizes, but the beautiful displays. My daughter quickly ran upstairs to try on the dress, but we had to go because of dinner reservations. We actually left before dessert to get back before it closed. Sales people downstairs were helpful and courteous without being pushy. Although I had planned on buying nothing the best part of the store visit came when I tried on my first dress. The stylist upstairs recommended similar fit, colors and dresses that she thought would be ideal for my body. I know generally what I love and what looks good but her recommendations were spot on! My friend never purchases anything but black but ended up with a stylish jumpsuit, top, and the most amazing necklace that worked for both. All recommended by the stylist there. I ended up with two dresses and a half zip sweater that were terrific. You have to stop here if in the area. They have something to suit all!

I first wanted to say I love that Windsor is now in Newport Mall not sure when it opened up, however I called in and spoke with the assistant manager she was very attentive and so sweet! I called in to check if they had two pieces I was looking for she took down my number and style numbers and said she would call me back, which she did. The store had my two piece, thank God, and Nia offered to steam it for me, which I am a VIP at Windsor and no other store has ever offered that so A+++++. I can’t wait to go in and browse around. I can’t say enough just how amazing the store manager, Saidah, is at this location! I was in desperate need for a dress last minute and found a few options I needed asap. I called a few locations and by far this Windsor location was the most helpful and patient in searching their inventory (in addition to other locations)! Saidah helped me over the phone and upon discovering she had one dress left in my size she graciously put it on hold for me and did not give it up to other customers eyeing the dress!!! Would not go anywhere else. Once I got to the store I found that all the employees are just as pleasant, patient and helpful. They truly go above and beyond for the customers, whether you’re purchase is small or large - and in my experience that is hard to find.
Store is very organized, clean and seems to have a wider selection than other locations. Can’t beat it for the price point!

Firstly, I was looking for a dress for my bachelorette party, and I immediately found a lot of fun and glitzy dresses to try! However, I came by myself and didn't have anyone to give me an opinion.

When I put on the dress that I ended up buying, Nia enthusiastically encouraged me to get the dress! It wasn't just her compliment that I appreciated (and for sure that always feels nice :) ) it was her helpful opinions on the size I should get, how it would look with the rest of my accessories, and how it compared with other dresses.

Needless to say, she was really sweet and helpful, and made my first time shopping at Windsor great! Highly recommend her and the store!

LOVED my experience here! I stopped by to return a dress I ordered - I was originally planning on wearing it to a graduation I was running, but it was too tight and could barely fit over my head. Nia and Breanna were SO great, I told them my dilemma and without asking, they dedicated so much time speaking to me and going throughout the store to pick out a few options that were appropriate and might fit. Needless to say, they helped me find the perfect dress and I'm so excited to wear it! Thank you guys, I'll be sure to come back!

We came to shop at the mall from out of town to meet my daughter and went into forever 21 and they closed the dressing rooms because they were short staffed but had all the outside doors wide open! The manager was rude and said she had to while she folded clothes and I stated how can we try stuff on to buy? She shrugged her shoulders! I told her I won’t be coming back there to spend my money! We then walked right into Windsor and I went right up to Brandi and asked if there dressing rooms were open she said yes always! I explained what had and she was so willing and helpful! We ended up buying 2 beautiful dresses for graduation and a party! The cashier was also so very helpful too! Highly recommend Windsor beautiful clothes!

Rude staff. Never pleasant. Manger is the worst of them all. ( she told me to go home and shop online) You would think while shopping for occasion you would have pleasant promotional staff. However they treat you as if you are an inconvenience to them.

The Lucky Knot has always been my favorite for cute classic style. Wide selection of well priced accessories. A formal room for events and even an addition when I need to pick up something for my husband. I love the personal service from staff who often offer suggestions of something I might not have tried. A boutique experience without the pressure of having to spend a fortune.

The lucky knot always has the absolute best inventory and staff! I love the Annapolis and Alexandria stores, still have to check out the other two locations. Their customer service is excellent, they are always so willing to help and have great ideas for what would work for any occasion. The dresses and clothes are absolutely gorgeous and can work for a formal wedding, fun girls weekend, date night, and everyday wear!!

Do not shop at Windsor!!!!! I order item online a few times. 1st time I needed to return 2 dresses I ordered online, apparently the email confirmation, the order tracking confirmation and delivery info, nor the Amazon payment merchant ID nor any of the recipes I had showing what I paid and the items with pictures and even where it was delivered to was not enough to return it well within my 30days. They told me when I went to the store there was nothing they could do and told me to call customer service. I have sent customer service 3 messages through the website now requesting a call back for help. I have tried calling multiple times and was never able to speak to anybody. And now this time I never even got my items despite it saying delivered. This company is poorly managed and ran. And now I can honestly say liars and thieves. Do yourself a favor and order from a reputable company NOT WINDSOR!!!!! Anything goes wrong forget it! I wish I didn’t have to even give one star!!!

This is the most wonderful experience my partner & I have ever had looking for a suit ! Upon walking in, David was attentive & open to hearing all our ideas for a suit (we’re guests for an upcoming wedding). David was extremely welcoming & kind. He graciously allowed my partner to try on as many shirts as he wanted until he found *the one*, & the tailoring was an amazing turnaround time. We are so lucky to have found David & will be back for all our suit needs! Thank you, David :)

Terrible experience, my friend went to try on wedding dresses and the lady was making insults about her size the entire time when she is not even a big girl. It was utterly insulting, and ruined the whole experience. Would not bother going here unless you want to be insulted while trying on dresses. Worst customer service we’ve ever experienced.

I loved this shop. I was there yesterday with my family. My daughter fell in love with a dress for the prom so I will be going back. There were a lot of options and beautiful dresses for any special event. The clothes and jewelry were really nice a bit pricey but I bought several pieces because they were sooooo exquisite and unique. ALL the staff were EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY, Raven was great!!!! I will be returning to this shop. Thank you ladies for all your help it was a great experience!

The manager was trash. Denied customer service because I had to do her job for her and explain my exchange was valid. She didn’t want to let me do an exchange because supposedly the items I wanted to buy didn’t equal the amount of my return receipt.
She didn’t even do the math. Of course I did. And she was right; what I wanted to buy cost MORE than the amount on the receipt. Then I had to explain it to her Barney style, for her to say I’ll have to go to another Windsor for the return. Little girls shouldn’t be in management.

This is hands down my favorite boutique in Boston. The clothes are original, and the girls who work at the store are willing to go above and beyond to make sure that you leave with everything that you need. The cloths are very unique, and very well made with great quality.

I could have spent hours in there picking through each rack.
The ladies that work there are smart, professional, helpful, creative and no BS.I have been shopping the newbury st location for over 10 years. And I'm still wearing the stuff I shopped from more than 10 years ago. I was very happy when they opened the Charles St location!

The owner Diane, has an impeccable eye for Style, Quality and Unique Chic.
My wife , who has been in the Beauty and Fashion world for over 20 years , has come to rely on Diane for her ever evolving pieces for not only herself, but her many scattered friends that have fallen in Love with Soodee
She recently purchased a beautiful coat that Diane recommended , which she cannot wait to wear.

I always get the best dresses from here whenever I’m in Boston! They have a beautiful selection. It’s definitely pricey but the dresses are excellent quality. I actually bought the dress from here that I wore when my fiancé and I got engaged. It’s great for dresses to wear as a guest at weddings too.

When you arrive in David's store he makes sure you walk out looking your best. He's a true gentleman and loves his craft. It was a pleasure working with David to find the right styles and fit that best suited me. I cannot wait to wear the garments for my wedding. David is a master stylist and is the expert I seek out when I need to look fly. I cannot wait to see David's new location downtown. Swing by and you will not be disappointed.

Crampt, overstocked formal wear shop. Staff is not helpful and lazy. Asked them to hold an item so I could shop around and item was marked up when I returned. Desperate why to make an extra $20!
