A great park for walking, hiking or jogging with so many lovely trails in the woods. Always a nice place to watch sunset. Not even mention a great place for rail fans!

Very prominent view for sunset 🌇. Nice picnic area and playground along with public restroom. Good place for birthday 🎂 🥳 and family outing.
Not really much to see. Ruins of buildings but not identified as to what they were. Not sure what we were looking at as far as function, etc.

Love this park. We have been a few times now. This last time we went geocaching and had a wonderful adventure while we hiked the trails. We watched staff feed the snake in the office and got a shirt a cup. Staff was friendly. They cater to bikes on the trail! This was an amazing idea. They have a spot to repair your bike of inflate the tires. What a concept!

Carkeek Park is a little difficult to find if you only listen to your GPS so you need to pay attention . A short walk from the parking lot up and over the train trestle to the beach. This beach is not as well traveled which keeps the crowds down which makes it very nice for the locals to be able to enjoy its amazing views . My daughter likes to stand on the beach and watch the seals in the water. I enjoyed the sunset across the water while relaxing.

I love hooping here. People need to learn how to keep it clean tho. Great park for children. If you get thirsty or hungry it's a Publix near by. This park is awesome 😎
Kent Thompson Park is truly an exceptional place to spend time outdoors. The park is spacious, clean, and very well-organized, making it an ideal destination for the whole family.

The atmosphere of the park is perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. It’s a fantastic spot for picnics, with plenty of green areas to lay out a blanket and enjoy a meal outdoors. Additionally, there are numerous facilities that allow for a variety of recreational activities, from walking and running to playing on the sports fields.

The park is so well-maintained and inviting that it’s always a pleasure to visit. The tranquility and beauty of the natural surroundings make it easy to forget the hustle and bustle of daily life and simply relax.

Without a doubt, Kent Thompson Park is a place I would return to many times. Whether it’s for spending quality time with family, enjoying a picnic, or just relaxing in a beautiful natural setting, this park has it all. It’s a true gem in the community and highly recommended for anyone looking for a pleasant place to enjoy the outdoors.
Really nice long trails for running or biking!

What a gorgeous park. So glad we went to check it out. Stunning views. Plenty of room to wander around. Also bathrooms have running water!
Finally it's a lot safer now then how it used to be. The place used to be full of Juvenals smoking pot, now its a place I trust taking my son to.

This park was a dream! Several hiking trails which overall were well marked. I wish they had some paper maps available, but taking a picture using my phone sufficed. I'd love to come back in the fall

I SAW A CRAB:D The inner child joy is insane. He was a subject of attraction, people were poking him and taking pictures. The seagulls on the beach were mostly flying around, but they all seemed pretty disinterested. There were lots of Seattle residents when I went; kids were with parents playing in the sand, friends were there exploring the tide pools, and there were park/beach guides meandering around ready to answer any questions. There were drawings in the sand of marine life, like a shark, and even a 2D rock sculpture of a huge fish in the sand. Residents were making art on the beach implementing natural materials, and my family and I all added one rock as well. This beach was very clean as well. I did see a storm/sewer drain, but it was further away from the water carefully tucked away. I am constantly revisiting this beach, cloudy or sunny, with or without intent. I love it 🤍
Great walk through historic site that included a fun timeline brick walkway.
Haven't been to this park in a long time and just went recently. They definitely updated it and I want to go there again.
Great open air museum with a lot of information. Entrance is free, parking also. Sadly some idiots ruined some of the information-plates. But it's kind of a magic-historical place with a wonderful athmosphäre.

Took the family to Poinsett state park, for a camping trip. Stayed at campsite 30, very nice setting and great set up. Close but not to close to the restroom/ showers. Fire ring worked well.
Richard the host was very helpful and welcoming. Very fantastic and well kept trails. The park employees were very friendly and helpful. The bathhouse was well kept and clean.
What a really wonderful park. If you love to go hiking or biking, you really need to check out Poinsett State Park. I know we will be going back.

Beautiful park! Amazing trails! The bath houses were sparkling clean. Bring books and games and your crochet hooks because, thankfully, the internet doesn't seem to exist here. If you're into weaving, the pine needles are so long! It's a wonderful respite away from the world (aside from the rude folks across the way who thought running their ridiculously loud ac compressor all day long in 70° temps would be a nice thing to do).

Nice little park that is secluded amongst the woods. The playground is aimed towards kids 4+, our toddler (2 yr) was able to climb the steps and slide, but most of the other entry points were for older kids. However, there's swings for all ages, big field for running around/ playing sports/ having a picnic. Also, it does have a nice walking path that goes in and out of the woods as well as a forest canopy zipline experience but is not free, but looked pretty cool for older kids and adults.

Very small park great for kids slides swings.
Tennis courts and well attended to.
What a fabulous state park! Great hiking, excellent bike trails, AMAZING CCC architecture (that coquina stone!!!), wonderful staff, beautiful campground--this place has it all! Special shoutout to Ranger Andy and his co-worker (sorry, I forgot your name AGAIN). They were so helpful and full of interesting history and facts and I really enjoyed chatting with them.

Even though there was no event this year the manager Andrew was very accommodating and we will absolutely come again next year! The park is very clean and the locals are quite friendly! Just be sure to clean up and not be too noisy. Been coming here for a decade or more.

Busy on the weekends, quite during the week days (campground). Trails are nice and interconnecting allowing for new hikes daily. Mountain biking is also pretty quality. The first few spots at the campground are the "difficult" sites to get into due to angles, trees, and space. If you have anything bigger than a travel trailer look for a bigger spot/higher numbered spot. Mine is site 2 and is pinned between two entry trees and a tree at site 3 making it difficult to get into. 22 foot trailer.

Wait for when the grass is green. Its a beautiful place
The park's lake is small, but the site provides paddle boats and fishing; the pathways offer a variety of lengths for both the beginner and advanced hiker, and the on-site store has the basic plus the "absolute minimum" of hiking and tourism items. A very positive experience all the way around!

Underrated park on Lido Key. To get there head north from Lido to Longboat Key. You will come to a traffic light, turn right onto Ken Thompson Parkway. Go till it dead ends at Sarasota Bay. Has a small playground, clean restroom, picnic tables, and a few grills. Plenty of parking. Nice place to take dogs as there is a large grassy area and some trails. The beach, if you call it that, is full of ugly sea shells….however you can definitely swim there (but wear some water shoes).
Thought this place was really cool to walk around and explore . Was cool to think of all the history there . After exploring the main part of this place it leads to trails you can walk to through the woods . Little ponds are the side of you as you walk . Was cool to see the old Joliet Prison in the back ground ofcourse you are not allowed past that fence without permission . Liked exploring all the remnants of the old buildings . I’d watch your steeping while walking through . a lot of nails and uneven surfaces .
My Favorite Banyan 🌳 Tree! lovely park ❤️ Plenty of paved sidewalks and beautiful views of the Ocean! Great spot to watch the 🌅 Sunrise!! People do bring their dogs, but most are not leashed🙄
It's quiet, and my dog loves it here. I travel from New York Ave to this park, picnic area. I catch and release the fish because of the highway drainage. There is a deep hole there, but don't worry about the snakes, it's the poison sumac that will get you if you're allergic. All in all, it's peaceful .
Free! Awesome trail to explore and learn. Parking lot on site. Picnic pavilion also on site. Paved/stroller friendly trail. It was really cool to see the ruins and read the placards. I recommend this trail for a family friendly thing to do without needing to spend money. It really is a cool trail!

I used to enjoy going here and recently tried to go when the weather was nice but now there is no place to park. Two places I used to park are now blocked off in favor of construction happening. Really sad because I miss walking here and have had great memories spending time at this park...hope the city returns things back to normal soon.
Has two playground area! Very clean and well maintained. All the common play sets kids love and had a cover in case it rains lightly or mildly.
This is a very intriguing scenic landmark that is laced with amazing history. It is located along the I&M Canal Trail in Joliet, and it is worth a visit. Admission is always free, and it has a park area with benches and tables, so it would be a great place for a family to have a weekend picnic.
Very nice a quite place to walk of bike. Wide cement paved areas. Beautiful area to just relax and take in the sites.
Well maintained biking and hiking trails. April is a great time to observe wildflowers. You can often spot a bobcat hunting along the trail. Observe from a safe distance.
Great trail to explore. Historical markers were good generalized info. Would like to have read more specific info about each of the buildings we looked at, as it was hard to figure out their functions, but overall it was interesting. If you have small children, keep them on the walkway or close by as the ruins can be a safety issue. There is also a fair amount of broken glass from kids partying. Trains went by a few times, which was fun to see and hear. There was a police officer patrolling, but would not go alone as it is isolated. Old jail in the distance. We didn't go any farther than the ruins, which was approximately just over 2 miles there and back.
Great Park for little kids, it has 2 water fountains but No Bathroom. Clean and just right for small kids. It has a basketball court there and a trail to walk for people who are exercising.

Calm nice pretty everything you need at a nice sit down
Great area to walk. Sidewalks (so no mud) but you can take nature's route if you wish. The lake has lots of different birds.
Great space for grilling and getting out of the sun on a hot day!!!

Very nice park right next to Fish creek trail...being upgraded and remodeled as of now so there is no playground. Looks like it is going to be way better..hopefully they keep the swings.

Lovely new playground, and they keep grounds very clean. Unfortunately drug addicts and homeless also like to gather, so do not feel comfortable most of the time walking there, day or night

The boardwalk in the mangroves is absolutely fantastic. Nice little park to walk around or eat lunch.
If you are close by there it's a good spot for a short walk and to see all the sports stadiums around.
This is my neighborhood and is great for an afternoon or mid evening walk. There are plenty of people who use the trail...just be watchful of snakes passing through. 😶

Go early to avoid homeless. Left my kids shoes behind and came back 10 mins later to find a group of homeless who removed his socks from the shoes and moved them in front of themselves in the middle of the table. Dont leave anything here but the park itself is interactive and fun for all ages even adults. If you like Payne park you will love Pioneer park even more. Equipment is new and tree themed. With all the best of every park in one little space next to beautiful homes. Will be coming back. The "jungle gym" is a spinnable orb. You wont be disappointed. More children need to experience how great this quiet little park is. Basketball courts and tennis. And the neighbors who live close are very friendly.
Nice Park. Plenty of space with nice views and a good walking trail. The Park was clean and parking was easy to find.

Carkeek Park Picnic Area is a good area for picnics with good picnic tables.
Beautiful view and lots of playground equipment, although it is spread out in three areas. Also adult exercise facilities. Great swimming area for kids too. Shallow and calm. Water shoes recommended since it is a lagoon. Nature boardwalk also well-kept.
Peaceful and beautiful. Please pick up your trash!!!! Its up to us to keep our paths clean and enjoyable. Very nice, Will be back soon.
Took my grandson to a Rangers/Orioles game. Such a wonderful experience for him and a beautiful stadium. They also have a playground for kids.
Sadly, the creek has a lot of trash. The roads are visible along parts of the trail and the high traffic (from 1-20, 360 and New York Avenue) has polluted the air. Most areas are now too congested and the road noise makes walking here less than ideal.
A get away place in Arlington 🤩. Trail is so cool. Perfect for biking🚴🚵‍♂️. Mornings are wonderful. If you are here after 8pm you could see thousands of fireflies 🤩 great place for family, friends and party. Enjoy👍🏼😄 stay healthy
Wild !

The wild oasis...
When hiking, lord knows , back in the woods and were those dog prints in the mud or a Bob cat ?
Not to worry. Human traffic and foot trails abound as well as their ever present cell phones.
Beautiful park, sculptures are AMAZING! Inwas an artist at "Art On The Greene". It is a beautifully kept park in a great location with somwhat easy access. I had a great time enjoying the turtles in & out of the water. The trees are also a nice mix and create nice shady areas all over. The live music at the event was phenominal as well, hats off thlo the groups who played their insturments together or alone, and those who Sang. Ypur voices and talents were beautiful to experience and share.
I couldn't find all the trails I was looking for, but if I had more than my lunch hour I would have tried. It's a beautiful park and a nice place to walk.
Great place to walk, run, ride a bike, or take a pet for a walk.
