Adam Kocurek was engaging and informative as we strolled through the West village tour. His stories were entertaining and the new memorial at the triangle shirtwaist factory building was an unexpected bonus. i have been on many Big Onion tours and they are led by historically knowledgeable and engaging guides.
We recently went on the immigration walking tour and loved it. The tour guide was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, taking us around parts of New York and informing us of the history of the area, it’s a great way to explore and learn more at the same time!
Let's just start with the fact that this is a family business ran and captained by the 2 Brothers Ian and Andrew. The most personable service and attention. We had a private sailing with Andrew and great mate Peter. The evening of a lifetime. Great sunset meeting us, a full moon coming back to. They made sure a had the most comfortable trip, and took great pictures for us.
We had a great time on our Plantation/swamp tour. We had John, a wealth of knowledge. He delivered that knowledge with humor and excitement. We had Tom as our captain for our swamp trip and it was amazing. We did a ghost tour later in the week and some of the information that was given out didn’t match John. My husband and I didn’t enjoy that tour as much and regretted using a different company. Thank you all so much for having us.
I am so glad I went on the central Harlem tour! Dr. Taylor was amazing! He knows so much about Harlem and is engrained in the community. I learned so much about American history from him. One of the best tours I’ve ever taken!
What a time!!! My 2nd time going to an event on the hornblower and it was amazing.

I highly recommend gray line tours. Our tour guide was Dionne and she was outstanding. So much interesting knowledge. We toured the oaks plantation and did a boat tour of the swamps. My wife's first tour like this and absolutely loved it. Our driver was great. We would definitely take another gray line tour.
Perfect experience for a family, small group of local friends, or tourists. Stunning city skyscapes and incredible sunset views! Gino and Caleb were an amazing staff - friendly, knowledgeable and so accommodating. The night had an unexpectedly perfect ending with a fireworks show over the Hudson, too. Could not recommend more!
Fabulous sail with Captain Clark. He is clearly an expert sailor, was utterly competent handling the boat (which is beautiful) and super responsive to anything I requested - including lining up the boat for a great shot of the Statue of Liberty. A truly memorable experience that couldn’t be faulted
The Oak Alley Plantation/ Swamp Boat tour is an absolute must do! Dionne our tour guide was fantastic! I felt like we got a full blown history lesson before we even left the bus! The plantation is gorgeous, and the hands on part of the boat tour was fun! Again, highly recommend and a super big shout out to Mike our bus driver that somehow got us through 5pm Friday traffic like a pro!!!!!!
Our guide (Rick) was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We particularly liked that he geared our tour specifically to us by asking what our interests were. It was a very hot day out there, but he had lots of water and cold washcloths to keep us cooled down. All 6 of us really enjoyed our tour. Thank you and we would recommend this for all ages. It is a 4-wheel tour but never gets particularly bumpy.
Overpriced for sure, the tour itself was ok. I can definitely see others really enjoying it, especially for a first visit to Galveston, but we were a little underwhelmed. The majority of the ride is just on the street and you only go in the water for about 10 minutes. Maybe it’s because we’ve done the duck tours up in Wisconsin Dells, which for me is much more fun. It would’ve been fine if the prices were lower but where they’re at now I’d say to not waste your money honestly.
New Orleans Original Craft Cocktail Walking Tour - this was a unique jammed pack historic drinking tour. Our guide, Robert greeted us by the dock with a nice chilled welcome beverage on a hot Friday evening. He was very informative and animated. Overall, good drinks to try with great stories behind them. Even though I prefer bourbon, I found a new fave called sazerac. I enjoyed the recommendations on where to go next. It's a must to do and learn what NOLA is all about!
Captain David was an amazing guide and the sail and Tara were an amazing experience. His knowledge of New York and its history is unparalleled. Also the views are incredible. Definitely returning for another sail when back in NY!
A delightful surprise awaited me on my recent trip with Tribeca Sailing. I hadn't personally made the booking – that was a friend's doing. But to my astonishment, as we approached the dock, the legendary Hinckley Pilot 35 was there in all its glory. Captain Matt Beck took the helm for our journey, and his expertise and personable nature made the trip truly special. He was exceptionally welcoming and passionate about sharing the boat's rich history and unique craftsmanship. Coupled with the breathtaking views of New York City's skyline from the water, the experience was nothing short of magical. I had always wanted to go sailing up the Hudson as I watched the boats from my office on Liberty st. My boyfriend and I finally had the opportunity by taking a 2 hour private cruise. It was amazing! Dave is a terrific captain and great host. The weather was perfect and he got the boat moving a nice speed. It was a very memorable evening. I would highly recommend him and the boat.

Had a really great time. We were booked for the morning sail, but the weather didn't cooperate. They made the safe and appropriate decision to return to shore when unpredictable lightning was in the forecast (and they were absolutely right about the incoming weather). Ian was quick to offer us options on rebooking/refunds and we were able to get on a different trip later the same day.
The sail was amazing. We had a beer on the boat as we sailed all throughout the harbor, under the bridges, around Governors Island, up to the base of the Statue of Liberty, along the west side of lower Manhattan, and then home. No crowds, nice people, beautiful sights. Wholeheartedly recommend!

DO NOT BUY A TICKET! There are several reasons.
We bought tickets to the Barbie Sunset Cruise. We showed up and there were four other parties on our boat. That was very disappointing because it was not advertised.
We showed up early for our scheduled 5:30 boarding and did not even start the boarding process until 6:20. We didn’t get onto the boat until 6:40. We didn’t even leave the dock until 7:30pm, which was 1.5 hours after our scheduled departure time.
The decorations for the Barbie party were things that were cheap and looked as if they were purchased at the dollar store. Also, very minimal.
The food was disgusting, do not order!!! Not even to mention that when we got onto the boat they would not let us eat for almost one hour and the food was not even warm. The waiters ate BEFORE us!!!
The tables and seats were reserved if you bought a bottle only— which all started about $400 each which was INSANE for this type of event. Also, the security was also drinking alcoholic beverages on the boat. That is so wrong.
The AC on the boat was horrible, and the bathroom was broken.
The only positive thing I can say was that the DJ did play great music.

Wonderful brunch cruise along the Hudson River. We were made very welcome, the captain and crew really looked after us, very relaxed. This is a must on your trip to NYC. I will definitely do this again on this gorgeous boat! Thank you for such a lovely time

I HIGHLY recommend the Plantation and Swamp Tour Combo. It was an educational and fun day that was worth the money. Our tour guide, John, was the absolute BEST!!! A life-long resident of NOLA, he gave us such interesting facts you could never find anywhere else. Plus, John was so entertaining and funny that the day-long tour seemed to fly by.
We loved visiting Oak Alley Plantation. The tour of the home was interesting and the exhibit buildings were informative, if not heartbreaking. They have a lovely restaurant and separate cafe, plus a wonderful gift shop.

This tour is a great way to see several points of interest and get a wonderful history of the city. I have been on this tour six separate times. The first three were on my yearly vacations to the festivals held in the city. The other three were with family and friends on their respective first visit to the city. I like to take them on this tour to get a taster. They can then decide where we'd like to go back and explore more thoroughly. Our tour guide Gale was the best. She is very knowledgeable about the city and had a lot of interesting things to teach us. Our driver Dominique was a great and safe driver. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour.
Awesome experience and we got to see so many dolphins! 🐬 We went during Labor Day weekend which I believe is one of the peak times for them. Being out on the boat was a great time and the ticket included getting to tour an old restored sailboat from 1877, the Elissa. Jason was our guide and he was cool and knowledgeable. I REALLY recommend doing this tour if you’re in Galveston, it’s so worth it!
Highly recommend! Brian was funny, engaging and very knowledgeable with great tips while visiting the area. Hour long tour was well worth the price and time. We had the added bonus of seeing multiple dolphins and some even surfing the water in front of a large cargo ship. The self-guided tour of the tall-ship Elissa was a great perk included with the harbor tour.
Great sailing experience . Enjoyed every minute. We had beautiful weather and sat up front almost the entire time. Great views and the best relaxation when coming to NY for a weekend trip! Will do this again someday!
The tour was incredibly informative and fun. Kate was a wealth of information from here knowledge and experiences growing up in Louisiana. On the swamp tour, Tom was also incredibly knowledgeable and insightful about the ongoings of the swamp. He didn’t pull any punches about what goes on in nature, and his sense of humor was amazing. Absolutely not! I don't even know where to start. We bought tickets to a dinner cruise. What we got was a party boat! We paid for a champagne dinner and received someones home cooked meal on paper plates. The music was overwhelming for the small place. Just because you play it louder doesn't make the mixing good! If I could file or as a fraud charge, I would. Biggest waste of $80.
We had an amazing sunset sail with our friends and Andrew leading the way. Beautiful views, a great & comfortable boat, and just a relaxing and fun time. The whole operation was so smooth and easy, we can't wait to come back. Can't recommend Brooklyn Sail enough.

This was my second Big Onion tour on this trip to NYC. A neat walk with all kinds of food samples representing enthic groups across lower NYC. Plantains, pickle trio, fresh warm jerky, ice cream in Chinatown, cheese/salami in Little Italy and canoli too. All "served" with historical context and great old pictures. Dave
We went on the Galveston duck tour because we were visiting Galveston for the first time and wanted to know what was interesting about the town. The tour lasted an hour and successfully informed us of multiple exciting attractions. We weren’t expecting to learn the history of the amphibious duck vehicles, but that happened too. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, funny, and able to read the crowd. When the duck entered the bayou, fish were jumping everywhere. The tour cost $30 per person, which is a bit pricey for just one hour, but it was worth it because it helped us make the most of the rest of the trip.

An iconic experience sailing around the New York Harbor. The boat was beautiful and Ian was an awesome captain who shared a lot of cool and fun facts throughout the trip. I’ll definitely be going again and highly recommend to everyone.
The harbor tour was fantastic! The guide was very informative and humorous. He was very knowledgeable about the boats and places around the harbor. The boat captain was great at getting us into the perfect spots to see the dolphins swimming by. It was quick and easy to access and took no time to hop on the boat and get going. The tour of the Elissa was also wonderful! My 3 year old daughter loved exploring the Elissa and going through all the tight spaces to see what was next. The gift shop also had a lot of great finds such as many books about the history of Galveston and the Elissa, souvenirs such as shells & magnets and a variety of the Good Night books. My family collects these books on each trip we take and it was a joy to find exactly what we love there!
Its very good place to buy disney, universal or anyplace tickets. Although its not easy to be there because the traffic is bad but it deserve to go to mr. tracy he is a good man, happy face. the parking is not available at all time
We had a very nice and relaxing time on our sail with Andrew even though it was windy and cloudy! It was cool to see the city from a different perspective! The small group size also made the experience more enjoyable! I would recommend and would definitely do another sail when in the city!
We had the best time on a private evening sail with Brooklyn Sail, and definitely plan to do it again!! I planned the booking as a surprise birthday gift with my boyfriend and family. The evening was one of my favorite NYC experiences to date. The sail was the perfect view/tour of the city at night. We were able to bring food and drinks aboard and were able to use the Bluetooth speaker they had to play music. It was a very intimate and special night that we look forward to booking again soon. Shout out to Andrew for being an A+ captain, we had a fabulous time with him! Great communication from start to finish. We really appreciate you making it such an effortless and seamless process! I booked this experience for my husband’s birthday! The boat ride was so relaxing and enjoyable, and we both learned a bunch of fun facts about New York City even though we are both native New Yorkers! I would highly recommend the experience to anyone looking for a truly peaceful escape from the city for an hour or two!
Out Tour guide Dionne was amazing, she has so much knowledge not just about this tour but you can ask any question and she had an answer not just about restaurant and bars but about History. We are young friends who did this tour and though that we will just get pictures and have some fun, but Dionne was so interesting and smart person that non of us could take her eyes of her I learn a lot being from Europe about this tour and history and I was lucky that she was the one who was the tour guide. She is gold of a person I admire her and her knowing about New Orleans like google search. You are e lucky to have person like her in your company. If a boat party means standing around on a boat in the port and drinking horrendously priced drinks (7$ arbitrary fee on top of the 15$ price for every drink you order). Then city cruises is for you ! Not my style
Great tour with friendly and funny guide. We saw lots of dolphins and pelicans, learned much about the harbor and its sights. We really enjoyed the experience, and afterwards we visited the Ellis sail ship and watched workers repair the equipment. Nice souvenir shop, too. All that for 18 USD.
Highly recommend this sailing trip for an intimate private celebration, relaxation, or taking in the beauty of NYC. The captain was friendly and professional. He made sure we had access to blankets and jackets, if needed. We were able to bring our own light snacks and a few bottles of bubbles. The boat is kept clean and safe. It was clear that the captain knew the layout of the city and all the best and safe spots to enjoy the sailing experience. We booked this sail for early June when the weather was cloudy and windy - which turned out GREAT because not a lot of people were sailing and we got to freely sail around without heavy boat traffic! The captain was a great teacher in explaining any questions we had on how the weather impacts sailing. He was just absolutely wonderful in interacting with us and giving us private space to enjoy our own moments with friends. Definitely worth booking and enjoying this service!
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and his bad jokes were actually perfect in keeping the tour both enriching and fun. I was really disappointed, however, in his glaring omissions of at least two major historical and commemorative sites on our route that recognize June 19, 1865, or Juneteenth, the date on which slaves (and free persons) in Texas finally received news that slavery had ended...over 2 years after the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is such an important part of the journey to independence in the United States and an important part of Texan and Galveston history. A simple mention would have gone a long way for the packed tour. The guide actually mentioned one site, Ashton Villas, but only as an historic mansion, not as the site of a commemorative museum and statue of the general who read the final order. It left a sour feeling about an otherwise great tour and screamed missed opportunities for enlightenment. I made my way back to the sites later in the day.

Wonderful time on water and land - worth every penny. Knowledgeable staff, our guide knew so much about the area, and about the DUC-W we rode in. We went at sunset which was perfect, less heat, a beautiful sunset on the water, night time lights turning on around town as we wrapped up the tour.
We reserved the Saga Sailboat to celebrate my birthday on the Hudson River. Sailing the New York Harbor is an excellent experience, combining the grandeur of the city skyline and Statue of Liberty with the serenity of being out on the water. Our captains who navigated our sail provided excellent accommodations throughout the trip!
Christopher was an amazing naturalist. It was just our family of four (2 adults and 2 teens) on his tour and he took the time to take family photos for us, explain so much about the native people, flora, and fauna of the area. He assured us that there were no dumb questions and took the time to thoroughly explain answers to us when we had them. Additionally, being from the north, the extreme heat of the desert in late June is not something we’re used to. Christopher kept us well hydrated and fed with granola bars for the kids. He even noticed when I began to get sunburned and recommended that I take a moment to reapply sunblock. Overall, Christopher is well traveled and very knowledgeable as well as being so easy to talk to. It was a great morning and we appreciate the experience!
The tour was great. I had fun with my family. We got to see some dolphins, so that was good, but I also got to learn about some of Galveston’s history on the water. Shoot, we even got to see some jellyfish. So it was like a two-for-one special on sea creatures. And then two different types of birds. It kept my three year old entertained.
Our guy was amazing, every single time we spotted a dolphin he stopped. So to anyone and everyone who plans on visiting in Galveston Texas, please stop by and visit with the dolphins and the jellyfish. It’s best to go either first thing in the morning or later during the day. It’s just too hot in the middle of the day.

This tour surpassed my expectations. Bill was a fantastic guide. So informative and very friendly. Plenty of water, sunscreen, and snacks were provided to make our ride more comfortable. Given that it was a very hot summer day, we were provided cool clothes to help beat the heat. I would 100% recommend this tour.

We LOVED our sail today! Captain Caleb and Gino were both knowledgeable and accommodating. My family and I went to celebrate my birthday. We highly recommend the sail to anyone looking to see NYC and the sites from a different vantage while enjoying the water and an awesome boat ride. We can’t wait to do it again!!!!
In the spring of 2023 I had the great good fortune to go on a weekly basis on a total of nine Big Onion walking tours, along with the students enrolled in my college seminar that semester devoted to New York City history. These included, in the sequence we followed, Revolutionary New York, Immigrant New York, We Built New York, Historic Harlem, Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge and Heights, Chelsea and the High Line, Lower East Side Food Tour, and Brooklyn, Dumbo, and Vinegar Hill. Each was well-led, engaging, enjoyable, and informative. Taken together, they helped us understand three centuries of the incredibly vibrant and important history waiting to be uncovered in the cityscape of Manhattan and Brooklyn. I truly believe that when my students go to their fiftieth college reunion, a lifetime from now, and reminisce about what they remember from those long-ago days, the Big Onion tours they took together will stand out in memory as one of the highlights of their undergraduate experience.

Amazing experience! David is knowledgeable both in sailing and in the rich history of Manhattan. We are highligting this fabulous experience on What's Up NY and David took us around Manhattan to experience this hidden gem of a NY activity you MUST DO! I haven't felt calmer as. I did when. I got back to dock, would do again!!
Expect to pay $30 for a one-hour tour around Galveston, both on land and water. The tour guide knew some of the highlights of the area, but honestly I would have liked more details. For example, instead of driving by an old cemetery and saying "There's a really old cemetery" why not tell us how it's divided into sections, when it was founded, and maybe one or two interesting people who are buried there. Basic info like when Galveston was founded, why, and by whom, would have also added to the experience. Overall, a worthwhile tour but it could have been so much more!
This was a fun experience, the captain was so knowledgeable and funny at times. We enjoyed the tour very much and loved going out in the water. You get to see and learn a ton about the island. Great place to see Dolphins in Galveston. Great tour guide helped us to look around all the places with good amounts of time. Also, asked if any questions that we do have. Their boat has two deck vs other has one deck boat. We ended dolphin from seagull vessel on memorial long weekend. You were allowed to free around in boat & bring your drinks as well. People were polite & nice.

Capt Dave took great care and extra attention to help my friend’s son with special needs. The tour was informative and entertaining; especially the Aggie jokes! ;) Everyone loved getting so close to the dolphins, but pointing out the many other sites was also interesting. I’d recommend this tour whether you’re familiar with Galveston (as I am), or a first-timer (as my friends were)!
Very interesting tour of our nearby fault line. History of palm trees, plants the Indians used to make tool, baskets, shelter and also used for food. Explanation of our huge aquafer and how it continues to to exist. Travis…our guide was given kudos by his daughter when I made the reservation and we were not disappointed……. kept us laughing the whole time Thank you for a wonderful experience. Billie and her girls
We loved our experience with them! Boarding was super easy and the captain was experienced and witty. They set us up with drinks and music right at the beginning and really let us do our own thing the entire trip checking in to see what we needed often. None of us had any experience on a boat but anything we needed to know they explained early on (not a whole lot other than safely moving around the boat because they handled everything). All 6 of us would do it again, loved it! Phenomenal way to view the city skyline and Statue of Liberty!
Such a fun and unique desert adventure! Our wonderful guide, Travis, was incredibly entertaining and informative. His knowledge of the desert was so impressive and it was interesting to learn so much about the land, the nature, the natives and the history of the desert. The views of the desert were just breathtaking!
Red Jeep tour of the San Andreas fault is not to be missed. Mike was our guide. He was wonderful. He knew everything about anything. Kept all of us engaged.
Dress in layers, bring your phone or a lightweight camera. Leave your bag in your car. There are granola bars and water on the Jeep.
We went off roading in the Jeep with open back and sides. The top will come off eventually. The rocks and hills, walking through the caverns, the oasis of palm trees, ponds and babbling brooks right on the fault, while beyond that was desert. All of it was breathtaking.

What a great day on the San Andreas Tour! We took good friends for their anniversary and they were very pleased. Our guide, Neil, was an absolute dream! His knowledge of the geology, flora and fauna of the area was super impressive and he was fun!! It really made for a special day for all of us. Thanks!
A great walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and into Brooklyn Heights! Our guide, Alice, was awesome. She was very steeped in the history of the bridge, enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge, and she had a great sense of humor. In addition, we were late for the tour and she was very welcoming, when we joined the group. I highly recommend the tour guide, Big Onion, and doing a historic walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.
We visited Galveston mid March for Spring Break! We saw others on a Duck Boat tour and decided to give it a try, we are certainly glad we did! The tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. The driver drove us by/through many key areas of Galveston!
our guide Ryan was incredible!! we took the san Andreas tour 8am in February. the weather was ideal and best to wear light clothes and T shirt. definitely warm enough for little clothes

We bought tickets here to see the Orlando Magic and it was an amazing experience! Thanks to Tracy we got amazing seats (best value for money!) and he told us about the players to watch and how to get to the stadium. We went as a family and our two daughters (7 and 8 yo) really enjoyed the game, it was a great way to discover basketball and the NBA ! Thanks

Best tour I've had in NYC! The (very highly educated) tour guide was so knowledgeable about Chelsea and its interesting history and took really good care of us by keeping us in the shade and minimising walking. Would definitely go back for another tour! We finished just after the high line, close to subway stops so it was easy to go around after the tour ended.
This is a 5 stars service!! We did the motorboat and it was so nice. Apart from the great boat the staff working here is amazing, starting with the customer service agent we spoke over Instagram, always super helpful and they answer all of our questions in the most friendly manner.

Organizational nightmare!!!! They didn't tell anyone where to queue until it was too late. 3 boats at the same location. Pictures I'm uploading tell the whole story. 4 or 5 big fat dudes yelling from the front, no one at the back listened. None of these geniuses thought about breaking the people into lines beforehand. And if you think purchasing the VIP ticket makes any difference, you are as wrong as I am my friend. Don't waste your money, it's a scam. Security's screening was performed with no globes or mask while going through the bags. The worst experience ever. Do not recommend it!!!!!!
The world is closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to do something for my girlfriend within the CDC guidelines. So I decided to I make a reservation with Go Sailing NYC for her birthday and invited our 4 friends! The Captain and first mate were friendly, respectful and made our stay on the boat a memorable one. They made us feel like we were at home. The sights were amazing and the vibes were energetic. I would recommend Go Sailing NYC to everyone!

Food was really good and tasty. Good variety of choices. Boat was two levels, but the first level space was less than half the size of the boat. They served you champagne when you entered the boat and escorted you to your assigned table and seat. Music was okay, dancing was promised however I dont feel there were enough variety that would get people up to dance. That should be looked into for improvement. The atmosphere was easy going. Drink options were not that much and the bottle of wine cost was a bit to steep in my opinion. Best option is to bring cash to pay for drinks to avoid the wait time when your ready to exit the boat. Staff were courteous and friendly.
Did a great tour around Harlem with George, we were 20 mins late but he still waited for us and we were the only 2 on the tour so was like a private tour. George is a great guy and very knowledgeable about the area so we really enjoyed the history and culture and George’s company, highly recommended
I took a group of students on a tour with John, and he was dynamic and engaging even on a hot afternoon. We all got a lot out of the tour. I would definitely recommend this company, and John in particular, to other schools studying the history of New York!
New York is an amazing, eclectic city and Harlem is definitely worth visiting! We had a fantastic moment thanks to Harlem One Stop which enabled us to discover a new face of The Big Apple :)

This is one of the best cruise lines in NYC, it's great for when friends are in town or even just for when you're looking for a little boat entertainment yourself. The fleet is very modern and you get to take in some amazing views of the city. Lots of fun!!
