The best part of visiting Ghost Ranch was the drive from and back to Santa Fe!

With all the hype I heard about the ranch I was disappointed! It needs a lot of updating. The displays, videos and directional signage is stale and outdated.

Granted the views of the amazing mountain ranges surrounding the property are phenomenal but that was about it.

I grew up coming here for two weeks every summer and while it has changed a little bit it is still my favorite place in the world. Amazing classes where you can learn how to paint, weld, write or adventure around the area to see some incredible views and hikes. Can’t recommend this place enough!

We just visited for the day but very cool place; I would like to stay there for a couple nights down the road. They build up Georgia OKeefe but it's not necessary. I stood there for about an hour and I "got it".
Fun! History and farm animals!
Stand up family. Will always go back to them for all of my hunting needs. Will also go through them for an African safari on the future. Can't say enough about the people. Bob and Jase are amazing.

The landscape and energy of Georgia O’Keeffe here is incredible, but, BE WARNED… make your trip a day visit with a landscape tour! Sketch the Morning with Susan was beautiful, and she was kind and knowledgeable - but Ghost Ranch’s accommodations and facilities are wretched. There was a lot of poop spattered on the bathroom wall and junk (like old broken furniture, broken screens/windows and general garbage) scattered all around the property. I can’t imagine anyone feeling comfortable staying here.
We appreciate minimalism and limited amenities but the website is deceptive in their description of the accommodations. It seems the facilities have not been updated or maintained in decades. The place isn’t rustic, it’s GROSS. My family and I now joke about abandoned-looking places we would RATHER stay at than Ghost Ranch.

The Presbyterian Church, who owns the property but stopped funding it a few years ago, should be ashamed. Georgia O’Keeffe would be heartbroken to see what became of Ghost Ranch.

HIGHLY recommend going a few miles down the road to the beautiful Georgia O’Keeffe Museum next to the Abiquiu Inn and taking her Abiquiu house tour.

This was a short trip just to check the Ghost Ranch out. It's 2.5 - 3 hours from Albuquerque so wish we'd left earlier. It's a pretty drive and the views at the ranch are awesome. It's very historical and much of this is explained if you visit the Ghost house. Buildings also include many cottages and rooms, dining hall, a library, a beautiful building containing a meeting room and a worship room, welcome center with gift shop, two museums, stables, and a gorgeous cabin near the entrance. There are hiking trails and various tours offered. We plan to return for the paleontology tour. It's the home of the state fossil. There are various offerings that include overnight stays, but you can get a daypass for $10. This can be purchased online at which time each person electronically signs a release form. The website is well designed. You can pre-purchase boxed lunches and the gift shop had some food and snack items and a small dining area. There are many seating areas outside from where you can enjoy the views. Take good shoes or hiking boots if you're going to enjoy the trails. A family we met recommended hiking sticks for the longer trail and the paleontology tour. There is internet access but my cell service was spotty and I couldn't access GPS until I got to the main road. If going for the day, try and arrive at 9 am when the daypass access begins. The pass is good until 4 pm. You can see Abiqu Lake from the ranch (you'll pass the entrance on your way up). Consider combining with some time to fish. Before you reach the ranch there is a Georgia O'Keefe welcome center you can visit. There are several restaurants and an ice cream shop along the way. There are gas stations on both sides of the road so you can gas up just before or after the ranch.

I love Ghost Ranch, haven't stayed for a few years and it is so special. I usually stay on the mesa and the rooms are lovely. The food is very satisfying, especially as all you have to do is show up, no prep or clean up. There are lots of trails and beautiful light.

C Lazy U is by far the best guest ranch in Colorado and likely one of the best in the west. With over 220 horses, 12,000 acres, 40 full time staff, and 140 seasonal staff, the the 100+/- guests get a real ranch experience and are treated even better than you imagine! The other guests are always fascinating people. The group dining and riding experiences make it easy for adults and kids to make new friends and lots of memories. Many guest return the same week each year to hang out with the people they met before.
I highly recommend a long weekend or full week whenever you need to relax.

Amazing views. Worth the trip.
Road in was quite rough watch for pot holes (I was in a car), rooms were meager, but clean, bed was fine. If I go again, I’d take a coffee maker to use in the room.
The bad: Cafeteria dinner was sad, borderline horrible. Very limited selection, meat dumpling was room temp, I was concerned I might get sick. We had to sift though several plates to find ones that appeared clean.
The good: Breakfast on the other hand was great, hot and plenty of choices. Dishes appeared clean.
Staff was great all around.

Our experience at C Lazy U was nothing short of magical! The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The staff was attentive and helpful. The views were incredible. The food was absolutely delicious. And on top of all this so many fun activities to choose to participate in! Will definitely come back!
Cannot say enough good things! We had a group of 11 beginner riders and it was the absolute best experience. This is a family-owned operation and they were welcoming, patient, and all around great people. It felt like a true, local experience and not some touristy horseback riding. We did the 2 hour trail ride and it's truly something I'll never forget. Insanely beautiful views of different landscapes for the entire ride and great horses (shoutout to Rudy!). Cannot recommend them enough.
Once in a lifetime experience! They took wonderful care of our group of 11 girls and truly created an incredible experience. HIGHLY recommend!!
Wonderful experience with this sweet family! We have been on many trail rides and this was one of the best we have been on. The horses looked healthy and happy. I rode Sage who handled the trails like a boss. The owners and their grand daughters were very knowledgeable, good conversationalists and organized. We will be back to this ranch!

Visited mainly for the location, the O'Keeffe connection, and the paleontology museum. Going here coupled with the O'Keeffe museum in town was a good combo, getting to be in the location that inspired so much of her art, and learning how Ghost Ranch history is even more than just that connection. The paleontology museum was cool! Small but really neat, and a must stop if you have a dinosaur lover in your group. Honestly even just seeing the location is breathtaking enough. Definitely stop by if you have time.
We did a two-hour beginner horse ride in late July '23. I am a beginner rider more or less, my partner has had a fair amount of experience riding English, not Western. The ranch and the hands and horses were great, a really fun experience. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars was that two hours is pretty short, when you count in assembling the horses, a brief training session for noobs, selecting horses, getting everyone mounted, etc... my particular horse (Fairy Tale) was kind of old and out of shape, all she wanted to do was stop and eat, so I had to work pretty hard to keep her head up and also to not charge ahead and follow the other horses too closely. The rest of the herd did just fine. (Horses have individual personalities!) I don't blame the ranch at all for it - it was a good learning experience. The scenery was lovely, we climbed up to a high Meadow overlooking the Colorado River valley, and then wound our way back to the stables. Definitely worth doing.

Great guys running the place. Deep in the woods where people are scattered thin. Expect to see bears and a panther if you are lucky while waiting for your hog to stroll by. I was led to my spot by Jason while it was still dark. Walking up we could see maybe 15 of them rooting around. Since I was using Iron sights I had to wait for light to shoot but as soon as I could see I had my shot.
The cabin is incredible. Talk about old Florida at its wild best. Walls covered in turkey, hog, a bear and a panther taxidermy mounts. A true wilderness hunters dream.
Anyway I will be going back some day, probably soon.
My hog weighed in around 150lbs.
We really enjoyed our visit. Thanks Nancy
Wonderful! Would highly recommend! Pauline and Kent and their granddaughters were fantastic at helping and accommodating our large group! Each one had a wonderful time. They were knowledgeable and kind and so helpful for those who didn’t know how to ride! The horses were wonderful as well and I can’t say enough good about them!
My husband and I went in their 3 hour morning trail ride and it was wonderful. They are very experienced and patient with novice riders. It was a beautiful ride and wasn’t just simple trail- we went over downed trees and up and down steep slopes. A lot of fun and well worth the price.
During our stay in the Teton Valley we took our two kids(12 and 10) horseback riding here. We've been on a few other horseback rides in the area but Teton Mountain Ranch was far and away the best experience we've had. The family that owns the outfit is very personable - they were great guides and made the experience enjoyable. The trail and views were awesome. We can't recommend this place enough!!!

I honestly don’t know how people rate this place with 5 stars.
Today we had a field trip to this museum and we had the Chumash village tour. The place is nice but the instructors were very unfriendly, unpleasant, impatient and even rude with the kids. Only one male instructor was nice , but most of the female instructor, especially one of them were very impatient. If your child have a field trip to this place, I highly recommend not to send them there. The kids were very excited about this field trip, and it was a Disappointment for them, they are only 10 years old and should be treated better. This ladies should not work with kids.

My wife and I stayed here in February for the weekend. The experience was second to none...the food was simply amazing, every single meal. At every turn, the staff was ready, willing and able to help with every need and request. While visiting, we went for two winter horseback rides as well as a snowmobile tour, seeing a small herd of elk and view for miles. If you're looking for an all-inclusive, dude ranch experience, check out C Lazy U!
Nancy gave us a tour today and we even got an alpaca "kiss" from Clancy. What a fabulous experience. Totally recommend a visit. Call ahead though and schedule a tour. You will not be disappointed
Me and my fiance went to the car show today decided to go to the alpaca farm it was a nice day anyway here are a few photos 2 babies were born I guess but just took 1 of them.
It was such a wonderful experience for us especially the kids (4th grade fieldtrip). Got to time travel back to those pioneer days. The place is rich in history. The displays and activities were great! Most of all, our tour guide was awesome. Thank you. Bravo!!
This was an adventure and educational museum. So I came here to do a little historical & paranormal research. But first I need to get some info... I really didn't know much of anything about this museum. Buy got a lot of great information about the past life here. And how it was developed.
The property is beautiful! The staff are the nicest people I’ve ever met! They truly go above and beyond for you. Brittany, Lucy, and Allie are the kindest ranch hands I’ve ever met. They will let you bond with your horse prior to riding and make sure you are comfortable. The food is amazing! Michael and Sarah are the funniest and really keep everyone happy. I would definitely recommend staying here!

The experience at CLazyU was amazing. From the moment we arrived we felt like family. There were 21 of us and everyone was taken care of as soon as we arrived. The staff was friendly, helpful and made us feel so welcome. There was no request that was not handled quickly and easily. The food was awesome as was the beverage selection. The grounds are beautiful and we were never bored. From horseback riding to archery, hiking, trap shooting.... Our family had the most wonderful experience and I will definitely head back to the ranch in the future.

An AMAZING dude ranch experience for any age! Everything was beautiful, from the lovely cabins, the gourmet food and the gorgeous horses. From the moment I stepped on to the property I felt instantly relaxed and at peace. If you love horses, it is simply MAGIC! We started the first evening with a "Horse Happy Hour!" Out in the pasture you meet and greet with snacks and beverages while meeting the C Lazy U heard. As the sun sets in the background and you breath in the crisp, mountain air... yes! The jingle in the morning is so much fun to watch as 200 plus horses make their way to breakfast. And you will enjoy EVERY delicious meal provided. Always fresh and lots of delicious options. My cabin was incredibly cozy at the end of a busy day scheduled with whatever your heart desires. Personally, I couldn't get enough hours in the saddle on the miles of mountain trails. Truly my ZEN! If your are considering a Dude Ranch, you will not be disappointed in C Lazy U. They have YEARS of experience, happy/healthy horses, exceptional dinning and a staff that goes above and beyond to make sure your holiday is PERFECTION!
This was a phenomenal place to stay and ride. The friendliness of all staff is exceptional, and the horses are fabulous. The cabins are very cozy with just the right combination of rustic and high end. Can't recommend this place enough!

The ranch was more than what we ever expected! Pictures of the ranch and surroundings do not do it justice! The staff went above and beyond to make sure that we had an amazing time. Everything felt very personal and accommodating. The horses were so well taken care of and loved. The barn staff were absolutely amazing!! This was our first time and wont be our last!!
We had a beautiful 2 hour ride today. Everyone was so nice and helpful. We took our 7 year old and he did great on the horse thanks to the ranch owner and other experienced patient riders/ranch family members who guided us. Beautiful views and was an exciting ride. Highly recommend from start to finish.

I planned a surprise hunt for my son’s 12th birthday and boy did Jace and Bob took care of us. We got 3 really big hogs and we couldn’t be happier. This was my son’s first time hunting and he shot 2 times and got 2 hogs. These guys are very nice and down to earth people. They are honest and sincere. True smiles and good hard workers. Yes we have found our hog hunting Haven. Thanks guys. Keep up the good work. We had fun, the freezer is full and my son is still teasing me.

If you are heading to Central Oregon, stay a night - or more - at Alpaca Country Estates! Nancy and Art are the most amazing hosts. She has a private room and bath in her home, a HUGE guest house across from the alpaca nursery, Teepees and a Yurt!

The views are SPECTACULAR! Play with the baby alpacas, watch the herd move from pasture to pasture and shop at the farm stores. Everyone NEEDS a pair of alpaca socks!
We had a wonderful time at Alpaca Country Estates. Nancy was a great guide and showed us all around the farm. We spent 2 hrs walking 2 alpacas, seeing all the babies up close, and learning all about alpacas and what it takes to raise them. I would definitely recommend the experience. It was well worth the money.

private area and I believe the former owner was Saudi ambassador to US and the father of the current one
This was our first time visiting the Teton Valley and the first time being on horses. We had an amazing time! This is a family run operation and they were wonderful. They treated their horses well and gave helpful tips when any of the horses misbehaved. :) Their love for the area was evident and we enjoyed learning more about it. The ride was beautiful and fun. I would highly recommend taking a horse ride with them! We will be back!

Located right in the middle of Calabasas town center this little museum is pretty impressive. Not only the house itself is interesting but the grounds have a barn with animals like sheep who actually bare babies, barn cats, cattle, goats, chickens, turkeys and Guinea fowl. Also on display is a variety of farm machinery from the times long gone. I would recommend visiting here and another historical site in the area on the same day. King Gillette Ranch is only 20 minutes drive from here. Adamson House is about 35 minutes away. This way you get the wide scope of and feel for what people lived like over one hundred years ago.

It had alot of cool stuff the animals were a plus they had chickens turkeys, cats, horses long horned cows, sheep goats, etc.... the staff was very helpful and told us the history of the adobe museum which was pretty interesting. It was extremely hot this day but it was very nice. I would definitely return. You can take your kids or you can go alone with friends or family, you'll love it. They also have a very pretty garden.
Loved our tour here. Nancy was a great guide. This place is beautiful and the alpacas are awesome.
Driving the backroads after a hike this morning and discovered over 1000 alpacas at the Alpaca Ranch! OMG, we spent almost 2 hours walking with Farmer John and Nancy, meeting babies born yesterday and just being overly happy with these joyful whimsical animals. So much fun! Definitely the hidden highlight of our trip to Oregon! The gift shop was very nice with beautiful things made from alpaca fur.

Took a party of myself, 2 hunting friends & my girlfriend as a spectator. Garry was our guide and he was amazing. Very nice, helpful and hard worker. We sat on stands and had plenty of hogs to chose from. One friend did a spot and stalk. We all had a great time and will definitely be back.

Most amazing trip from beginning to the end. Highly recommended. Everyone there at the preserve was very welcoming and very patient. Felt like we had known them for years, yet we had just met for the first time. We will definitely come back and bring more family members and friends. Might even take Bob up on the offer of a Safari trip which he also arranges.
Nancy, the elderly lady in the store, is one of the tour guides here. She was very sweet and informational on our tour! The Alpacas are very calm, have soft fur, and many will come up to you! The Bed & Breakfast is new to the property, and one part sleeps 4 people, while the other sleeps 5 people. The property itself is very quiet and peaceful, a good place to get away from noise.

Great hunt. I took my 10 year old daughter and 7 year old son for their first hog hunt with Bob and company. They were fantastic with the children - very safe and patient, and gave the children great tips. Swamp buggy ride out to the hunting grounds was fun as well. Meat processing was quick and efficient.

I highly recommend them. We will be going again!!!

Thanks Bob!
I'm always looking for interesting places to go with my toddler, and we have been frequenting the Leonis Adobe for years now. The staff is super friendly! Shout out to our favorite guide, Tomu (I hope I spelled that right)! My son loves water fountains, and there is one right before you even enter, which he loves. I should mention there is free parking.

When you go in the first little house there is a gift shop and some museum items about the property. This is where you pay. It is by donation, but you can get a season pass for only $40! They are only open Friday's during the week (and weekends I think in addition to special events). I do wish they were open more. You can buy goat or chicken food for only a dollar.

Outside there are many things to look at. The animals are of course a favorite! They have sheep, goats, various types of chickens, turkey's, roosters, two ver large horses and some very impressive texas long horns! There are also many things to look at on the property, including the actual Leonis Adobe Museum which you can walk through. This is where my toddler got tons of practice going up and down the strais! haha.

My son loves the giant triangle that he can hit, the water pump that he can no do by himself and he loves walking up the giant stairs to what was some of the worker's quarters. While on one hand I could see folks coming here and think it's not a ton of stuff compared to other large museums... for a small museum there is actually a ton to explore! There are a bunch of little displays and rooms all around for the kids to explore. There's also just a nice big space when my toddler was more into running around and I was crazy bored of parks and playgrounds. There are also cats that walk around that he loves to look at.

So if you're in LA with kids and haven't explored this yet... do yourself a favor and get over here next Friday!

ps... They also have a large garden around the corner that we actually haven't even done yet! Get a coffee in the coffee shop in the back of The Peddler's Fork across the street!
Scheduled a hog hunt with guide Bob Joyner on August 8th, 2017. My son, daughter, and myself. Had a wonderful experience! Got two hogs, one which was over 200 lbs.!! Guide was very nice and professional. My kids loved it! We are planning another trip soon! 2018 update .Just finished a second hunt with our guide on August 8, 2018. Had Geary this time. He was outstanding. He worked hard for us. My son and I got two hogs about 175 pounds each. Great customer service! Great with kids! Highly recommend!
