Yuck. Meat was red. I actually bit into it. Tasted so gross. Probably will go to a different Taco Bell or go meatless at this one.
The food and customer service were great.

I like this place. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and I like how they had place where you can gey what you want as far as toppings and sauces. The only thing is the first time I went in the afternoon then a second time and went after 1 00am. I'll stick with the afternoon instead. I recommend the shrimp tacos.

This place needs to be kept cleaner,
Tables are constantly dirty. The fountain machine is a mess.
Food tastes good , however the menu keeps changing like every 2 or 3.months.
If you're hunting for a gluten-free dining experience that doesn't skimp on flavor, look no further than El Tianguis Rolled Taquitos. Tucked away in the heart of the city, this vibrant gem has quickly become my go-to spot for Mexican cuisine that caters to those with gluten sensitivities without compromising on taste or authenticity.

First off, the ambiance at El Tianguis is as warm and welcoming as the Mexican sun. The decor, with its colorful murals and traditional pottery, transports you straight to a bustling Mexican market. But let's talk about the star of the show – the food.

Their signature rolled taquitos are an absolute delight. Made with fresh, gluten-free corn tortillas, each taquito is filled to the brim with a choice of savory fillings. I tried the beef barbacoa, which was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the veggie option with roasted sweet potatoes and black beans, which was surprisingly flavorful. Both were topped with a fresh salsa verde that added just the right amount of zing.

The menu extends beyond taquitos to include other gluten-free delights like their quesadillas, which are made with homemade masa, ensuring every bite is safe and delicious. Don't miss out on their guacamole, which is chunky, fresh, and served with gluten-free tortilla chips that are crispy and satisfying.

The service at El Tianguis is exemplary; the staff is knowledgeable about gluten-free dining, making you feel both safe and cared for. They're eager to explain ingredients and preparations to ease any concerns.

For drinks, they offer a range of options, including aguas frescas that are both refreshing and gluten-free. The horchata was a personal favorite, subtly sweet with a delightful cinnamon note.

Desserts are not an afterthought here. The churros, made from a gluten-free dough, are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and come with a rich chocolate dipping sauce. It's hard to believe they're gluten-free!

In conclusion, El Tianguis Rolled Taquitos isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. It's a testament to how gluten-free dining can be inclusive, delicious, and true to the roots of Mexican cuisine. Whether you're gluten-free by necessity or choice, this place will make you feel like you're part of the fiesta. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable meal that celebrates both tradition and dietary inclusivity.

Rating: 5/5
Might honestly be one of the best restaurants I have ever been to.
Rare to find a gluten free mexican place too. Chicken tacos and the carne asada fries were both 10/10 meals. We will go back!

Love the tacos here. Man, the salsa is spicy and I like spicy! Open late night, definitely a place to hit up if you are in the area for a bite. Classic spot. The cabeza tacos are my favorite.

On your website you posted a pic of pozole. So, I ordered pozole, consomé , and one taco birria. I specifically asked for pozole.
I received a semi-warm birria taco, consomé, and menudo not the pozole I ordered. The waitress said you served pozole, I asked for pozole and received menudo.
The waitress never came by to see how my food was, she sent another waiter and I told him I ordered pozole and he said you didn’t serve pozole.
So, I kept the menudo and didn’t like it. I had to ask for the bill because I never seen the waitress again.
Will I come back to your restaurant? NO
Will I recommend your restaurant? NO
I just paid my bill. It came out to $21.80
I gave the waiter $21.85
My change was .05, but the waiter kept it didn’t even bother to ask if I wanted my change back 👎
And that’s a shame
Pollo asado fries were nasty, no taste whatsoever. Over priced, paid basically $20 for the large order, which looks exactly like the small order. Do yourself a favor and don't get the Pollo asado/carne asado fries or if possible don't even go there.

We were exploring San Diego with my family. I found this place and dragged my family here for lunch, following day for dinner and the day we were leaving got takeout breakfast. Portions are large, meat was incredible and I would recommend it to anyone looking for delicious tacos, Burito and more.

I always come here and the lady and her daughter are always so kind. However I came in today and there was a different lady there, I ordered and payed for two large drinks, however the lady gave us mediums and refused to fix it even though we ordered a large and had a receipt. I was just here a week ago and payed for a large and actually got one, so I’m not sure why now I’m paying the same price for a smaller one. Unfortunately won’t be coming back here. They’re scammers!!!!
Excellent local spot. Fun take on Mexican food. Home of my favorite burrito right now: Chile Relleno burrito with added shredded chicken.

Come early as sometimes they close before time listed on Google.

Haven’t had a bad burrito experience - haven’t experiment with much else of the menu to be honest.
The tacos were tasty and my margarita was strong. The happy hour prices are good too.
We chose to eat outside, which feels like a tent in a parking lot. Next time I will eat inside, it's much nicer.
This used to be my favorite taco shop, but it just keeps going downhill. We ordered 2 burritos that were supposed to come with guac but it was nowhere to be found. It seems like every time I go here they give me less and less guac. Their green avocado salsa used to be the best and now they have changed it to have no avocado. The sizes of burritos keep getting smaller and smaller while prices keep going up. Really unfortunate that I don’t think I will be coming back again.

The food, drinks and service were amazing. I was there with a cranky old lady who was hungry and wanted a mariachi band. She would probably not give this place a 5 star review. Ignore her. She is super irritating which is why I am just about the only one who is willing travel with her. She asked the waiter if they had a spicy tequila as she had had a margarita at another establishment with this ingredient. The waiter said that they don't have it but spent several minutes explaining how to make our own and shared his personal recipes for cocktails with a jalapeño infused tequila. It was such good service. It shows how much this place loves tequila and sharing that love with their customers.

The only reason for the 4/5 stars for the atmosphere is that the section where we were sitting was quite loud and echoey so it was difficult to have a conversation over dinner. I didn't really care because the food was so good and I just wanted to eat and not talk. But cranky old lady and her not cranky older friend had a difficult time with this noise situation. Please send me all the good juju for the rest of this trip as I will need all I can get

After a night out, we came here to try them out. The tacos were blow average. I ordered one pastor, chicken, and carnitas. Only the carnitas was warm. I took one bite of the pastor and chicken and that was enough to let me know I was going to get an upset stomach.

Went there a few years back; the food and atmosphere are still ecstatic as I remembered. My favorite place when attending a conference in SD! My go-to's are the mar y tierra and the mahi mahi rice bowls~ Really love the open sauce bar, with a wide selection, too!

This is a tiny hole in the wall with really amazing burritos and San Diego style Cal-Mex options. You can get lobster or scallops tacos and burritos, fish tacos, etc.
They have horchata and Jamaica, both are excellent. For 5 bucks extra, they will wrap your burrito with a quesadilla and it's worth it!
Their salsas are home made fresh and very delicious.
Stopped in for lunch. Staff was friendly and attentive. Enjoyed the grilled fish taco and an adobada taco. I’m looking looking forward to the next visit. Salsas were delicious. Thanks ladies, see you soon!

Great little joint. Absolutely delicious tacos. Great variety of salsas. Favorite was the cilantro salsa. Al Pastor, Fried Pescado and Birria tacos were great. Seating indoor and outdoor.
Had tacos and a quesadilla— tacos were great and quesadilla felt like great value for money (good portion!!)

Meats themselves aren’t too spicy but definitely try all of the salsas :D Tortillas are amazing.

Drinks are good, staff is friendly, good vibes and nice outdoor seating.

It was my first time here, and I would definitely come back. The food was great, the service was great, the place smelled clean, and the 2 girls working there were super nice and kind to me and all the customers that walked in while I was there. Thank you!
Wow, this was amazing! This was some seriously good food, some of the best I've had in a while. From the reviews I figured it'd pretty good food but it's still 'fast casual'. But it blew me away. I had each type of rolled taco and also wanted wanted carne asada but that only comes in a taco, not a taquito. So I had that. It was so good that I had to also try the carnitas taco. I forgot they had Aqua Frescas, so I missed out on that
I ordered the rolled tacos and was disappointed to pay $9 for plain rolled tacos with cheese. If you order rolled tacos you’ll have to add extra lettuce, pico, sour cream and guacamole on the side.
FANTASTIC! Wife and I just ate dinner and the food flavors were incredible. Everything is gluten free and we chowed down on chicken and beef taquitos and their in house Queso-tacos! For the queso tacos we did the birria and adobada (spicy pork); amazing!

Had a side of delicious guacamole, rice, two of their in house sauces, and of course sodas and beer.

If you want some good food and/or have a gluten allergy, definitely need to stop if the menu items are what you’re after. Food was incredible and the staff were friendly and helpful!
Had the scallop taco and my boyfriend had the surf and turf burrito. Great service, really nice people, and good food! The corn tortillas taste very homemade and the scallop taco came loaded with good cheese and sauces.

Highly recommend getting one of the specials! The Wednesday garlicky shrimp was amazing. The margaritas are perfect! The tacos ~could~ be SO good if they used better tortillas. The tortillas they use are the store bought corn fall apart kind of tortillas. Everything else is so good it’s surprising they don’t use better tortillas

This Taco Bell sucks when you come to order food inside they'll ignored You😡😡😡 and then they try to tell you go order at the kiosk. I refuse, so she said wait, let me take the next car. She didn't took the next car. She took the whole line then waited into I was done ordering and came and took another customer very unprofessional. And I took it very racist. She needs to be fired Or put Her back on stock.😡😡😡😡 Then I called the manager and they told me he cannot come. He's busy so I waited. He came after 5 minutes. Explain to him what had happened, he said. Oh, 🤷‍♂️ shoulders and walked away. What kind of manager is he? He needs to be fired as well. This whole restaurant needs to be trained again. All of them are very rode & racist.😡😤😡😤😡😤😡😤😡😤😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😡😡😡😠😠😡😠😡

Now, when you come to drive through, they make you go around and wait.
They don't pull out orders under 2 minutes. That's why they have you wait around the building....... Why have a tribe through if it's not gonna be considered? Drive through more like drive through and wait in the front

Food is good but they somehow always forget a thing or two. I now always check before I leave, that way I'm not disappointed when I get home. HOWEVER, everyone's customer service is on point here. Every person I've interacted with is always very nice and respectful. I appreciate that and why I only come to this location for my Taco Bell cravings.

3.5 rounded down. This was unfortunately a theme with the places we tried in SD, but seemed a little overhyped? Maybe it’s because we came when it wasn’t busy, but the food didn’t seem that fresh, and the taste was good but not mindblowingly so by any means. Fish tacos were just ok - not a huge fan of the sour watery (tartar? mayo?) sauce. The carne asada tasted fine but a bit bland, the pastor was slightly crunchy and the best of the 3 but I’ve had better elsewhere. Meat portions were generous and service was friendly at least.

Using a credit card adds a surcharge so bring cash. Toilets were not very clean.
I have been coming here since high school and have always loved the food, atmosphere, and staff! Some 25 years later my friends and family still come here!
It’s hard to pinpoint what is the best on the menu because I have never had, nor have I heard of anyone else’s complaints. My usual, however, is and I think s stay, the scallop burrito!
I didn’t think I’d enjoy it, but my mouth is already watering because I’m having one for dinner tonight! The creamy, cheesy inside is delicious!
I think they use the same sauce in the shrimp burritos, I am just not much of a shrimp person. Even if there’s something you don’t exactly fancy that is on the menu it’s certain you can find something you do! The menu is online, so you can check it in advance!

My birthday was a few months back and I was told I could choose anything for dinner, no matter how fancy. I asked for a scallop burrito and a fish taco. My mom came home after a long international trip and her request was also an El Zarape burrito!

I cannot say enough great things about El Zarape! And the prices are super affordable too! And one last thing - the salsas are to DIE for! 🤤

Food is actually good for a fast food place. It is nothing like tacos in Mexico, but they still are quite decent, price is reasonable and the portions are good. My go-to order is supreme tacos and a chicken salad, I’ve tried all for their salsas and my favorites are the fuego and Diablo. The nacho fries are really good.
Good food as always the service varies from time to time

I was so happy to see the salsa bar when we walked in. All of the salsas are fresh and delicious. We shared a breakfast burrito and the ceviche. The shrimp in the ceviches was so good. The tortilla makes a burrito and their tortillas are 🤌. The place is clean and the beer is cold. Saving this place. Here for a trip but won’t be surprised if we return before our trip is over.

I love this Taco Bell and the location because it’s a little hard to get into the parking lot going east but it’s never very crowded so win for me! The food is great and serves is good. They keep the restroom clean and only allow customers to use it and I like that. What I took off one star because prices have soared at Taco Bell and that I don’t appreciate!
at first I saw your prices. I was just like this can’t be real $6.50 for a taco. The tortillas is $.30 maybe even less than that is it really because your prices have gone up or is it simply because you want to raise your prices to line your pockets
and then you had the gall to charge $.50 to use our debit card I won’t come here again

It’s just okay. For a spot for locals to get some acceptable, mediocre gentrified Mexican food for cheap, it gets the job done. Not too sure why there was sooooo much white sauce on the fish taco but at least it didn’t taste bad, just not too great. More salt would be a game changer, and I’m not the biggest fan of it.

Also, the girl at the register seemed a tad out of it. Maybe hire someone who doesn’t whisper mumble the orders over the speaker?

Don’t go on a Monday food was not good. Salsa tasted like water, chips were old. food had no flavor. We’re thinking everything was watered down to make more and last longer. We guided ourselves from the reviews our experience was not good. The only thing that was really good was their Jamaica Water.
We got our food at 10:15 and one of the cashiers black hair, eyeliner, and big earrings was kicking us out of the dinning because they were gonna close already at 10:20. When they supposedly close at 11 she also rush us to eat. Bad attitude and I’m never coming back.

First time/ last time
$22??
Ordered a sandwich de lomo.
It has one wilted lettuce leaf, hardly any avocado, a mound of lomo just stuffed in the sandwich with soggy bread if you take more than 5 minutes to eat it. Not good at all. The chipotle sauce was the only good thing. Low quality sandwich for the price.
Ordered a biónico. It’s just a fruit cup with yogurt.
No thank you.
Edit: after reading other reviews it seems that this place has a problem with:
-high prices & low quality
-they skimp on ingredients
-sometimes they don’t have the ingredients
-customer service skills
Seems like management needs to get in there and check on quality and customer service for the high prices that they charge
Food was good but if you’re dining in be prepared to stay in line to get napkins. They keep the napkins and utensils behind the counter and give you only a couple at a time. I got up 3x (stood in line to ask the cashier) to get more napkins (family of five) and when I told her they needed a self serve napkin holder she responded “it’s not my problem.” Will not be returning.
As a newly gluten sensitive person this restaurant has been a lifesaver for my Mexican food fix. The food is very good. My only wish is there were some vegetarian/vegan taco options. My gf doesn't always want fried rolled tacos and she doesn't eat meat. We asked if they could make bean tacos and they said no, which is pretty unfortunate as it's really easy to put beans inside a tortilla. I'm sure it's due to the lack of option on the register but this needs to be fixed. I really need my gf to want to come here and as of now she has lost interest in the very minimal menu.

Been to Civita location and like that spot, food just ok, not bad, not great…average at best and par with Primo’s. Milpas in Barrio Logan still the Gold Standard for rolled tacos. Orders 4pc California rolls topped with barria combo plate. Music was a bit loud, the young gal lacked any skills one should process being the first employee you interact with. No smile, no greeting just looked at me to speak. lol. Todays kids are just plan sad.

Located in the vibrant University Heights area of San Diego, Cantina Mayahuel offers a taste of Mexico with its charming ambiance and lively bar. Let’s dive into the details:
Atmosphere and Charm: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The restaurant exudes a cozy, rustic vibe, complete with colorful tiles and wooden accents. It’s the kind of place where you can kick back, enjoy a drink, and soak in the Mexican spirit.

Bar Delights: 🍻🥃
The bar at Cantina Mayahuel is a highlight. With an impressive selection of tequilas and a variety of beers, it’s a great spot for unwinding after a long day. Whether you’re sipping a margarita or opting for a cold cerveza, the bar won’t disappoint.

The Food: 🌮🦐
Ceviche: Not bad at all! The tangy, citrus-marinated seafood is refreshing, especially on a warm San Diego day. The balance of flavors is commendable.

Beef Tacos: Unfortunately, these didn’t hit the mark. The beef was lackluster, and the overall flavor fell short. San Diego sets high standards for Mexican cuisine, and Cantina Mayahuel didn’t quite meet them.

Final Verdict:
While Cantina Mayahuel has its moments of charm and decent offerings, it falls short in terms of food quality. If you’re seeking an authentic Mexican culinary experience, you might want to explore other options in San Diego.

Remember, taste is subjective, and what one person finds mediocre, another might adore. So, if you’re in the mood for a laid-back evening with good drinks and a dash of Mexican flair, Cantina Mayahuel could still be worth a visit. 🌮🍹
Amazing food! Great friendly service. Cozy little place. First time visiting; we're only in town a few days but will try to come back here one more time before we go. Taquitos are delicious! The sauces were excellent! I also tried the quesatacos. I dont like avocados, so the photos don't have their special guacamole. All their items are gluten free. Many vegetarian options as well. Highly recommend this place!!

Despite the initial impression of neglect, with faded signage and worn paint, the food here is nothing short of delicious!

I was staying downtown for a conference and for those willing to venture off the beaten path, go for it!
We got there on a Sunday 11am-ish, and it was a bit confusing as there was no hostess or employee on sight, but someone showed up and walked us to our table within a minute. Our server was nice and effective. They appeared to be understaffed. The coffee, regular and de olla were good. We also enjoyed the chilaquiles poblanos and huevos rancheros. We plan on going back.
$10.21 for this sad quesadilla that tasted like paper and the cheese is gross, hard, and not fully melted. The churros locos were AWFUL, it had frozen mango pieces. If you’re charging this much for food at least buy quality ingredients. I hadn’t been here in a couple of years, safe to say I’m not coming back.

Blown away by this unassuming spot. Everything was fresh and delicious. Chips were light and crunchy, salsa was smoky and drinkable. All tacos were great, especially the carne asada and al pastor sopes. Staff was also fantastic, would highly recommend!!
Service was excellent. Food was amazing, must try
The Birria was good, flavorful. I had the beef, my brother had the 🙂 goat birria. He loved it! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I was surprised their Horchata and aguas frescas are made there! And they also make their own fresh tortillas. Soooo good! I will go back soon ❤️
Overall okay experience, I was expecting more of a flavor burst but the birria and the consomé missed the target for me. Didn’t take photos of my food sorry it was cold and I couldn’t bare to eat cold tacos.

The meat had flavor which is more than I can say about the incoherent service. Tortillas weren't fresh , neither was the radishes or limes and portions were meh. Still hungry ..
Came here for dinner with friends on a Saturday. It was not busy at anytime while we were there. I ordered a pitcher of the margarita, which had a good mix; not too strong on the alcohol. For food, I got the Mixed Taco Trio with Pork Belly, Baja Fish, and Birria. I like the Baja Fish the best, which had a crispy breading. The Birria seemed a bit dry, which it could have used some of its broth juice. I liked how the refried beans were served in a small bowl, separating it from the tacos and not ruining the tortillas. The service was good. It took a while to get our food order in, but our waiter was more attentive after. The place is clean and had a good vibe. If I'm back in the area and wanted Mexican food, I would come back again to try other dishes, and maybe retry the Birria taco.
I'd say it's ok. The margaritas are good but small. The food was mediocre. There are plenty of better choices on Adams Ave unfortunately.

** Note: happy hour is 3-5pm (not the hours listed online or in their menu-they crossed it out).

SOME OF THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD & tequila!

I’ve come here numerous times and always come back because I can’t get enough of their yummy food and drinks. They started with a small hole in the wall spot and have expanded to a covered patio bar as well for more room (which means more space to eat, drink, and be merry!)

Now I’m not big on tequila but if you are this is your spot! They have a huge array of different types of tequila and the bartenders are very knowledgeable about them to help you pick the one you’ll like. I almost always order carnitas tacos with rice and beans (can’t get enough of it!) except for when I make it in for the seafood stew. The seafood stew is a MUST try, one of my favorite things I’ve probably ever tasted (and I eat a lot). The seafood is fresh the broth is both refreshing and spicy, so so good! You obviously can’t come here and not have some margaritas to wash down your food! They also have a happy hour! I’ll always continue to come here!

It's a must whenever we are in San Diego to come get some birria tacos here. The meat is tender and flavorful also the consome is very delicious. 10/10 would recommend

Food was good and server was polite and attentive. Horchata was delicious, I got the quesadilla with corn tortilla and lamb, which was very filling
First time here and the food was amazing. The server was super nice and even opened the door for us as we left. That was a plus. The place was clean with a Mexican theme inside the place. Me and the wife had the sopes and they were very good. The rice and beans was tasty as well. I recommend this place 100%.
This is horrible! They messed up my order more than 5 Times! I made a conclusion that I am never coming back again! I been coming here since it opened! I order a grilled fish taco and a shrimp taco! All I got was a grilled chicken taco! This is not the first time! Almost a month ago! I ordered a grilled fish burrito with grilled shrimp included, and paid extra for it. They never gave me shrimp in my burrito! They took my money! And this too! I am done with them! I will no longer be coming back anymore! They already lost my business now! 😡
Margarita flight during happy hour is the best thing about this place. No happy hour menu for food just the drinks. The albondigas is good but most places are terrible. Ceviche was alright. Enchiladas were bland. But, the place looks so much better with the interior update. Hadn’t been in years and it look great. Probably won’t go back for the food but just to enjoy the margaritas.
Great find and recommendation from some local friends. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Its was a little chilly so we sat at the inside bar and did not regret it. The tequila selection was great and the bartenders we're very knowledgeable. Definitely try the house made tequila. The food was unexpectedly great. Looking at the menu was just the normal mexican fair but the tacos were outstanding.
Very good Carneasada burrito. Good price.
Putted 4 stars for Atmosphere cause of erotic movie was played, what if I would came with kids..
This place is a must, our server was amazing. Even when it got really busy, still managed to keep our cups full of alcohol, coffee, or water. Food was great, almost close to home. They do have a special of endless brunch and mimosas or michelada flighta for less than 53$. Definitely coming back!!

Manager Jesus Lopez…
I let him know how I had a HUGE PIECE OF HAIR IN MY SOFT TACO after I already ate the rest of my meal I was disgusted to find that in my last taco. That was at night so I waited til the morning that’s when Jesus insinuated on not giving me my money back for the order, wants me to wait 2 days to show his manager? I’m highly upset and honestly will be talking this over with my lawyer . The hair was so long and thick I could of forced myself to throw up everything I just had eaten.

The QuesaBirra ( Corn Tortilla. Cheese, Beef) Tacos we're Awesome !!! $4.50 each. Healthy Portions. 🌮 🌮 The food 😋 👌 😍 was ordered & arrived hot-n rather sooner than normal Taco Birra Shops. 🌮 Consome' ( Plain cup of Beef Stew), with or without beef. Used for dipping the Birra taco in. " Highly Recommended ". Adds Flavor to the Tacos. Take a bite of your prepared Taco 🌮 then a SIP of the Consume' 😋 Delicious 😋 😜 😉 😀. "FREQUENT & RETURNING CUSTOMER" !!!
Got the Chipotle chicken burrito with fries extra, they have such huge burrito enough for two. Quick service. The dining room could use a deep cleaning and a face-lift
The main this the burrito was delicious toppings was fresh and the chicken wasn't dry.
Great happy hour menu!! The margaritas and tacos is so good. The fondue was a hard block of cheese which we didn't like. Customer service is excellent!! We would definitely be back again!

This has got to be my favorite Mexican place in San Diego. Oof their Birria de chivo is 🔥 and their pozole is amazing! I ate this last weekend and am craving it since then. Their salsa is so unique - very spicy yet flavorful. I am definitely gonna come back!

One suggestion I have is that I don’t understand why we have to order at the door and then go sit. It does not make sense to us as customers. We anyway ordered more food after we sat down. If it is for takeout, it makes sense.

My family and I ate here. Service was good. It was awkward to order before being sat at our table. We had never felt rushed to order at a dine in restaurant before. I got the quesa birria tacos and wife got chilaquiles, kids just got bacon and eggs. The chilaquiles and 3 quesabirria tacos came out first. Took 10 minutes from that point to get my kids eggs. I believe they forgot but failed to apologize or even address the fact that eggs were delayed. We got there right at open and restaurant was already hot. No air flow or AC. Our total for 4 drinks, chilaquiles, 3 birria tacos, 2 orders of eggs with bacon was $70+. Food was good. Host was friendly. But won't be coming back.

I’m going with 2 stars simply because the green juice #2 is actually really good however I ordered a medium size and a turkey torta which totaled to 17$. Suggesting that my sandwich was 8.50 and my “medium” drink came out to 8.50 as well. Prices are not posted once you walk in also, was not given a receipt so no way to know the actual price, have I known the actual price of the drink I probably would not have ordered it. Torta looks good but upon opening it you can see they’re fairly skimpy with the ingredients. Annoying at most but having a more transparent menu would have made a better experience. So if you want some really good natural juices this is the place.
Delicious food, hospitable service, and though we do not know Spanish to navigate the menu correctly, our server was extremely helpful. Definitely recommend coming again.
Amazing Birrieria, extremely cheap and amazing tasting food! Wonderful service!
Love the outdoor seating area and managed to eat here during happy hour for their 7$ Margarita flight. Four flavors: Mango, Strawberry, Watermelon, and one more that I don't remember but was my absolute favorite! Wonderful, fun ambiance. Great authentic Mexican cuisine at great prices.
I love LOVE this place. Been here several times and it's always outstanding. If you love birria... Go here!

We tried the Menudo Rojo with hominy, and the Quesadilla Ahogada de Chivo(goat). The Menudo was good with lots of hominy and came with corn tortillas. The Ahogado was very good, but not as large as expected. The goat meat was lean, tender, tasty, and not gamey at all. The birria broth was very good.
Very authentically prepared just like from the Country of Mexico, in the State of Jalisco.

Many choices. Prices reflect the servings you get, unlimited servings of tortillas from real corn, and the portions are generous!

Clean, ample table seating, and courteous staff.

The weekends are busy, during the week is a good time if you visit for your first time!

The birria tacos are good, but not life changing. They aren't greasy enough for me. My suggestion is to get a cup of consume to dip them in. Takes the flavor up a notch. I like the little patio. It blocks the road, so it's like being somewhere else. The staff are friendly and attentive.
Every Santana's location always has great Mexican food. Chipotle Chicken burrito was great! This used to be a Chipotle restaurant, still lots of Chipotle design left in here. Chairs are metal but still oddly comfortable.
My wife and I visited Birrieria Don Rafa on Sunday 1/14/2018. Both of us have been here before but this time around we ordered something different. My wife ordered menudo and I ordered carne en su jugo. My wife said that her menudo was excellent and very tasty. My carne en su jugo was good too but a little bit salty. Put a little bit less salt and it will be perfect. Service was great. The menudo plate was huge !!

Excellent seafood entrees. The shrimp burritos and tacos are the best! The prices and portions used to be very fair. Sadly no longer the best deal in San Diego for quality, taste, and service. Update: Tried the adobado taco. It was very good, so we'll add it to our faves. Prices have increased again, but quality remains the same. Update: Prices have increased again! Update: Prices have increased again and the burritos are 1/3 smaller. Quality is still good, but prices are no longer fair. Update: Got the Shrimp Burrito and Fish Taco combo plate, and the Fish Chimichanga. Everything was very tasty. Update: Got the Shrimp Burrito and Fish Taco combo plate, and the Shrimp Chimichanga. Everything was very tasty, but the Chimichanga was not fried long enough and was not crispy. Update: Prices have increased again. Got the Shrimp Burrito and Fish Taco combo plate, a grilled Mahi-Mahi taco and a shrimp taco. Everything was very tasty.
