A couple of my buddies and I had booked a private session for my girl friends birthday. Our instructor Colin was just so amazing! He got to know a little something about everyone, very caring, considerate, and thoughtful. He made sure safety was #1 for everyone so we can have the most fun time there. As we went kayaking as a group he made sure he told us any information about the different events, buildings and ships around. Colin also told us about the different places they visit and activities done there as well. Colin is overall was phenomenal and we couldn’t have asked for a better instructor.

My friends and I did the 7:45PM sunset tour last night. We all had a great time! Normally, we kayak/paddleboard in Manasquan NJ, but wanted to do and experience something different and a change of scenery. Glad the thunderstorms held out as it was a perfect breezy Summer night.

Check in was quick and easy. Layout of the place was spacious. They have restrooms, lockers (bring your own lock), changing rooms and a small lounge area.

Our tour guide Andrew went over some basic paddle movements, commands and our plan/route at the beginning. Then we were off. We also had another guide in the back, but forgot his name, unfortunately.

Tour starts with a quick lap for people to get used to paddling. During the tour, we made a few stops for the guides to show us the scenery and took a few pictures behind the NYC skyline. Water can be a little choppy due from all the passing boats and we also had some head wind going back, but it makes for a great arm workout.

Thank you again for a great tour and night in the city! Hope to come back again soon.

Manhattan Kayak is a true gem of the city. The boathouse interior is designed to perfection - blending functional forms with a cozy, welcoming environment that would give any 5-star cafes in Manhattan a run for their money. Not only is the staff exceptionally friendly, but they are truly subject matter experts in the field and sport itself. I had the delight of listening into a MasterClass of SUP paddling led by one of their instructors. Never have I had a feeling of almost instantaneous understanding in a completely new discipline before.

The tours into the open water are to die for. I had the pleasure of joining their "Skyline" tour during the sunset hour, and it was an unforgettable experience. Would definitely recommend making a stop at Manhattan Kayak if you are visiting the city and in search of something different, fun, and beautiful.

We were enjoying our kayaking trip until we stopped for a photo op. One of the guides offered to take our picture with my girlfriend’s phone and accidentally dropped it in the Hudson River!

The guide was very apologetic and the company rectified the issue by refunding our entire kayaking trip and paying for a new phone. The guides worked with us by providing necessary documentation and have vowed not to use client’s phones in the future.

Overall the trip itself was fun and the the city views were beautiful.

Had a wonderful night kayak tour thanks to Manhattan Kayak! A special shout-out to our great and very skilled guides Andrew, Kemi and Junior, and thanks to the entire team at Manhattan Kayak - always kind and courteous and fun and professional! You're the best - thank you all!
Amazing volunteer-run non-profit offering public rowing twice a week (every Sunday from noon until 4pm, and Wednesday evening after 5:30 pm). I was actually heading to the Pier 40 Wetlab but accidentally stumbled upon this gem of an organization. My son is one month shy of turning 4 years old, and I've never held an oar in my entire life, yet everyone welcomed us with open arms. A volunteer lent my son an infant life vest (he's a very small 3 year old), and me an adult life vest. We were given a terse yet highly informative briefing before we set off down the ladder, into the rowboat, up the Hudson against the backdrop of the stunning setting sun. Everyone was extremely patient, kind, and thoughtful towards me and my active little boy. I highly enjoyed my time on the boat and the amazing views. They also do boat building at the same site. They take donations so please be generous if it won't break your bank to do so.
My fiance and I had a marvelous experience. Our first time going kayaking and we mastered it with no problem. They are great giving instructions and were very quick on helping my fiance when his kayak capsized😂

This is such a beautiful oasis away from the city.

My 13 yr old son and I ventured out yesterday for our first kayak experience on the Hudson. We were both nervous being that it was our first time on such a large body of water but the staff created a super safe experience. The water was extra choppy due to high wind so they added extra personnel out on the water to help anyone feeling anxious or just having difficulty navigating the conditions. The equipment is well maintained; from the kayaks to the vests. Their facilities are super clean and the price is unbeatable. I have told several friends about the fun we had and we also hope to return in the future. Thank you so much for all that you do!
Great tour with a nice guys, who explain us a lot of fun facts about Manhattan. It’s was great to see city from the Hudson Thanks for this moment.
I joined the rowing club this winter. I love it. Everyone is so friendly. The coaches are great. I have learned so much.

This place is amazing. 100% commitment and professionalism all around. Amazing facilities and equipment and the best coaching imaginable at the high school level.
Fun club to teach yourself and young people how to kayak!
I have only good things to say about Port Rowing. My oldest went through the program as a coxswain and I have a current 11th grader who is a rower. Both had a great experience at top notch level - Head of the Charles, Youth Nationals, etc. Port Rowing is one of the top club on the NE coast with an experienced coaching staff. Yet it feels like a family with an awesome group of parents volunteers.

Great club and amazing program! My daughter started there the summer after 6th grade and never stopped since then. Excellent sport, professional motivating coaches, super dedicated parents, and awesome kids that work hard toward the team success. Kids are busy almost every day, have the feeling of belonging to a club and that each one of them contributes to the team. So important for teenagers!

My son is a senior now and has been a part of Port Rowing since 7th grade. It has truly been an amazing experience. Outstanding coaching, mutual respect and teamwork really have created awesome acheivements both physically and mentally. Parents are actively involved and Port Rowing welcomes all and makes you feel part of the family.
Thank you Port Rowing and I highly recommend!

My son recently started with the program and he has come so far. They are a good group of coaches and are doing a great job. I highly recommend this program.
Was there for Mayor's Cup swim but recognize it as a fabulous community and community asset which is accentuated by the connection to downtown Yonkers. Alpine, NJ is also only a 3/4 mile swim away.

Very high quality program; my son has truly blossomed since joining in 7th grade. The coaches are inspiring and teach the kids to have high expectations for themselves and their teammates. The kids are very close, and make each other better in so many ways. The travel schedule is well organized, with opportunities for parent involvement but not essential, which is key for my busy family. There seems to be a culture of high academic performance among the kids as well. Even the parents are welcoming and warm. Honestly, I can't say enough good things- I am incredibly happy we found this opportunity for my son- and now even my husband signed up for a summer rowing class!

What a fantastic program! My daughter has been rowing here since Middle School. It's great for the kids that it's a community based program with no cuts but they are also putting multiple boats into the National Championships!

City Island Rowing is an excellent and welcoming rowing club. Guy is a phenomenal coach who cares about and works with each athlete on the team to improve. The athletes in the club are supportive of one another and work well together as a team.
City Isalnd rowing has been an amazing, life changing experience for my daughter. She grew up playing many team sports, worked hard, but the experience never resonated for her. Then she found City Island Rowing and Guy Monseair. The program has challenged her, motivated her, exhausted her, and been an incredible growing experience. Guy’s leadership, knowledge, and love of the sport and his athletes is just what a parent would dream of in a coach. I see tremendous confidence in my daughter and she has developed a true passion for the effort required, the team work, and the entire City Island program. I wholeheartedly recommend CIR.

My daughter has grown so much in skill and confidence at CIR. Coach Guy works tirelessly to ensure the team grasps all the aspects of the sport from technique, to strength to grit. We recommend CIR highly.

City Island Rowing (CIR) is an outstanding rowing club that attracts athletes from all over Manhattan and lower Westchester. The coaching staff, led by Guy Monseair, is both experienced and dedicated. In terms of college recruiting, the team benefits from Coach Guy's deep well of expertise and a national reputation for exceptionally skilled and highly coachable athletes. At CIR the bar is set high and the girls are close-knit and support one another. The annual summer Learn to Row program is the ideal way to sample the overall program. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

A premier rowing club in NYC, City Island Rowing, lead by Coach Guy, appeals to female athletes who want to row and grow in the sport. Notable is Coach Guy’s emphasis on rowing small boats WELL, improving a rower’s feel on the water and technical skills necessary for top-notch speed in the larger boat categories. As a mom, what warms my heart most is seeing my daughter have so much fun, love her crew family, and live for the thrill of racing. Coach Guy, motivates and inspires teamwork, excellence, and strong work ethic. I highly recommend City Island Rowing! -MO

My daughter has rowed at CIR for three years after trying out a different local club. CIR is an all girls club, and is smaller and doesn't feel like a factory like so many other clubs do. What sets CIR apart is the emphasis on the whole girl - athleticism and strength, good health, teamwork and camaraderie. It has been an incredible community for our daughter and for us. If you or your daughter is interested in rowing, this is the place.

True team experience, my daughter couldn't be happier! The girls learn to row with exceptional technique and it shows! Every year rowers get recruited by top colleges, Stanford, Harvard, Georgetown, UNC, UVA, Boston College, U of Texas....and the list goes on!
The only rowing program for adults in NYC!
Top Rowing Community. Open mindset welcoming new people and rowers.
Coach knows the drills and lead by example,
Great mindset and team values. Cant recomend more, if you pass by during trainning session you will see by yourself.
This is one of Yonker's hidden gems! It's a welcoming kayaking group. I found it through the free kayaking program two years ago and have been back every year. There are always free programs and there is zero pressure to join as a member. If you want to join, it's insanely affordable! They have skill training classes for all levels. The club has everything you need- life jacket, paddles, boats to use, skilled leaders at no extra cost. The clubhouse took covid precautions seriously. It's a fantastic place to have fun on the water, can't sing enough praise for it. I can't wait to return in the summer :) BTW, there is a free and gated parking lot. Don't need to worry about parking at all. There is a very clean portable potty there as well. If you have children, look into Hudson River Riders, which has FREE kayaking for kids. It's a great way to introduce kids to kayaking.
Amazing club with great people. The members welcome all and will help a person learn as much as they want about kayaking. During the off season in winter, they can also help you build your own kayak. Check them out, you won't regret it.
Wonderful place to kayak with a great group of people.
They also in June, July, August and September offer a FREE kayak program twice a week
Awesome & experienced trainer (Elizabeth)
A MUST workout to get into - for beginner or just to challenge your routine .. Super workout (45 min)
So happy to try rowing for the first time with these wonderful people! Thank you for this opportunity!
Coach Anika is amazing! She is the type of coach that you hope your children will have in their athletic journey. She truly cares about the sport and the rowers under her tutelage.
I am looking forward to my children continuing to work with her.

Very good
A wonderful place to experience the Hudson River in a unique way. The boathouse offers free rowing on the river, and visitors can also volunteer to build boats. At a given point in time, several projects are usually ongoing, ranging from building to repair and maintenance on boats. The members and visitors are a very friendly bunch and I found it to be a great place to spend my Sunday afternoon.
The organization Row New York has a great reputation, so I'm very pleased to see other reviewers recommending it. I've known a couple of people that have volunteered or worked here too and recommend it. I personally know the boathouse as one of the floating landmarks one passes during a circumnavigation of Manhattan or from other destinations further afoot like the Bronx River. A group I used to paddle regularly with, HarborLAB.org also had permission to take a rest stop here during two overnight circumnavigations we had in conjunction with the Perseid Meteor Shower on different years. I will never forget the large amount of bioluminescence we witnessed in the waters surrounding the boathouse one such night.

Love this place for our son's instruction. Very professional with terrific equipment. Not like the roughing-it crew I remember in college.
Love PCRA! Incredible, clean, welcoming, fast community!
A truly wonderful group of people. I'm a member of a few waterfront organizations in NYC and none are more welcoming or helpful or willing to share their expertise than the folks here in Yonkers. I visited during a multi-day paddle north and had the pleasure of seeing them put on a special paddle day for veterans, many of whom had never been in a kayak before. It was a great event and much enjoyed by the vets with a full house of volunteers. There is also a lot of history here and the boathouse itself is just filled with decade upon decade of memories.

My fifteen year old son has attended the 2019 summer camp. It was the best summer he has ever had. The coach is simply the best, the program is excellent. It doesn't just beat being in doors playing video games, the campers get a great work out, gain high level skills, experience working as part of a team and enjoy the beautiful outdoors all summer long. Can't beat that!
This is a fabulous rowing club!

Our son did a one week rowing camp with head coach Anika many years ago and made his very competitive high school crew team (in Europe) as a result. Now, our much younger daughter is doing summer rowing with head coach Anika and her crew, and we couldn't be happier! The individual attention, the flexibility, and the overall quality of the program is what any parent/potential competitive rower would want - and no wonder - look at Head Coach Anika's credentials: WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, GERMAN NATIONAL TEAM
GOLD MEDAL, POLAND 1995 , WOMEN'S 4X
SILVER MEDAL , ITALY 1997, WOMEN'S LWT 2X
FINALS BELGIUM 1997
FINALS GREECE 1998
Need I say more? Anika has the credentials AND the personality (not all coaches/professional athletes do) to motivate our daughter to get up early every morning of her summer vacation to row. We couldn't be happier and we highly recommend Long Island Rowing to anyone who is interested in rowing!!!
This is the home of RNY the staff here are amazing, and the kids in the team are like family! More people should join this boathouse.
You will not find a more friendly or welcoming group of rowers in NYC than the folks of HRCR.
Fat ergos... What more is there to say.
Very nice boathouse for those rowing in Harlem. Wooden made and floating in the river.
The best program that still exist in NewYork City: Row program is free. Provides young children and youth with values and tools to have a successful life: Sport and academics! Have the best director and coaches in the world, people that love children and love what they do which is coaching and mentoring everybody that join the program. This is a rare jewel that our city and children from middle school all the way to high school really can enjoy! Healthy environment, safe there is and is not going to be another program like this ever again! Thanks for everything Row New York!
Great military/veteran friendly place. Just started a free program for veteran Mon, Wed, and Sat.
Great place, and you make many new friends but dont forget that when you join your expected to do the workout and races to.
Great place gor a picnic

Practice, practice, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.... the coaches practice what they preach
Friendly staff and volunteers - despite the wind and current we had a good row out into the Hudson. Definitely coming back.
Multiple crew teams operate from this boathouse including Row New York (RNY), Fordham University, and Riverdale High School. Rowing is an expensive sport, and the maintenance on the boats as well as hiring trained professionals is why learn to row classes through RNY, can be expensive. However, the prices are fair and cheap. As an adult, it is more expensive to join a private club and learn through them. Row House, is one of many clubs/gyms that's located in NYC, where they'll show you the basics of rowing using rowing machines. However, they do not own or operate a fleet of boats, hence why they are much cheaper. Rowing is an AMAZING sport, best to learn when you're student but there are multiple ways to learn post-college through organizations like RNY and others throughout NYC.
Amazing place to row and to meet great people! The facility is messy, but there is real treasure inside of there. Great place to row in good weather!
The coach of this rowing program can make a champion out of your child. The reason, is that she's dedicated to the sport. Rowing is her life. I have two sons that have gone on to win NYS Championships, race in Nationals, participate on the US Jr. National team and earn athletic scholarships to College.
Row New York operates out of the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse, and it is one of the best youth programs in New York City. They offer programs in three boroughs - Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn. Contact Row NY for additional information. Row NY also offers programs for adults. The Boathouse offers a beautiful view of the Harlem River.
This place is full of nice and interesting people. This is a voluntary community boathouse for everyone adult. It's sponsored by donations. They provide free rowing sessions and boatbuilding.
Only affordable masters rowing in NYC.
Free Community Rowing Sundays at noon, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 pm. Community Boatbuilding/repair/restoration Wednesdays at 3:00 pm and Sundays at noon. All are welcome!
