When we got to the park, there was already a queue at the entry, so we decided to park there and walk to the lake. From the gate, you can take the Old Pond Trail, and then continue on the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail until it meets the Kingfisher Overlook. From there you can get onto the Clopper Lake Trail. There's a fair amount of human traffic.

We did Clopper lake trail last winter. It was 2 hour trail not that challenging. Bit muddy as it had rained overnight. But the views were great and quite peaceful place.
Not that crowded too but would love to visit here again next summer!

Admission: $5/person or free with annual MD park pass
Attraction: 3.7 miles (2hour) trail around the lake with great foliage covering making this a great trail on lightly raining days. Beautiful hike with views of the lake for the majority of the trail.
Boat Rentals: $12/hr to rent a kayak, canoe, or paddle boat rental. Beautiful lake to boat around. On weekends at 2:00 they offer pontoon rides for $2
Picnic: great picnic areas and shelter houses distrivute throughout the park. Especially around the Germantown Tire Playground.
Parking: recommend parking at the Germantown Tire Playground or the boathouse for easy lake trail access

This is a really nice park that was quite busy over the end of year holiday period. We walked the trail that circles the lake, which was pretty easy, other than the near constant mud, which made for slow going. That may have just been due to the only substantial recent snow of the season. It took about 2.5 hours for us to complete the loop.
One of the highlights was walking through a variety of forest and field areas. There was a nice mix of broadleaf deciduous and evergreen areas, though colors were mostly muted, as you'd expect during winter.
Plentiful parking near the visitors center and in other areas around the park. There are lots of benches along the trail in the more heavily traveled areas, and lots of picnic tables scattered all around.

Came on an early weekday and I was one of the few on the lake. Very peaceful and quiet. I didn’t notice much of any pollution around and the wildlife was very active. Even saw a beaver! Didn’t catch any fish this trip but this is one of the prettiest lakes I’ve been to so far, as a nature-lover. As far as I can tell, there’s an entrance fee on the weekend. There’s watercraft rentals, but if you bring your own there’s a hand launch ramp, so no need to worry about boat traffic around it. The fishing dock looked decent but maybe not when it’s busy. It appears there’s a trail that goes around the entire lake and looks really nice. It’s pretty active and I think a bird watcher would really benefit.

This place is glorious. It's really good for hiking.

One of the nicest, lakes I've been to! If you love the water, and woods it has a nice beginner to intermediate level trail! Roughly 4 miles or so completely around the lake!
Close to the highway to jump off for an hour or so to enjoy the lake and trail!
Usually pretty quiet this time of year! Summer is their busiest time! So, if you love nature or just want a quiet place to meditate!
Clopper lake has it!
Great for couples, and family! Dogs allowed, but must be leashed! Hope you enjoy as much as I do!
PS: trail is marked with blue 🔵 paint on the tree's so you won't get lost or hung up in the bushes! 👍👍👍👍👍
