There are different types of rugs and made, you just have to be careful about the authenticity of the rug and the prize, normally I recommend going down by 50% and haggle from there.

We stopped into Michael's shop on our last day in Marrakesh (it was near our Riad), and his poufs were obviously of very high quality (better than most we had seen). The problem was, while he had an array of colors and designs, none was exactly what we were looking for (a simpler design, without the fancy piping and center panel design you see on most poufs in the bazaar). We were introduced to him and spoke with him at length about what we were looking for (he speaks excellent English). While he said he couldn't have what we wanted made by the time we left the next day, he asked for my email, and followed up after our trip, made what we wanted and we arranged payment and shipment from Marrakesh to Boston. It was surprisingly easy and an awesome experience (it took some time though - but who cares, ours was a special order and we got EXACTLY what we wanted in the end). We were very impressed with Michael and the poufs he made us according to our specifications. I'm sending everyone I know who goes to Marrakesh to Michael for poufs.
