As long as you handle your business, work hard, save your money and work on minimizing your debts. They make sure to the best of their resources that they help!

I'm so glad you're in our town .
Happy to volunteer again. Keep up the good work.

I LOVE Carpenter's Shelter. They are very dedicated to those they serve and I don't think I've ever come across a shelter that treats its residents with more respect and human dignity. They are very efficient at getting folks into housing. America needs more places like Carpenter's!

Much more than a homeless shelter, this place truly saves lives by empowerment. After Carpenter's Shelter admits a single person or a family, they are empowered to set goals for themselves (and their family, if they are there with them) with their caseworker, seek and gain steady employment, put money aside in savings, seek out education options (if this is a goal for the resident), and transition into housing. When residents obtain housing and leave the shelter, Carpenter's stays in touch and checks on the residents in their Aftercare program. Carpenter's Shelter is really invested in the residents' success long-term. I've been a volunteer at Carpenter's since 2010 and I really have enjoyed these last 13 years (and counting...) by serving at the front desk, at their signature fundraiser (Carpenter's Shelter CookOff), at ad-hoc/pop-up events in the community, as well as helped out on a board committee. They really take care of the people here and lift everyone up to obtain housing and reach their goals.
May 2023 UPDATE: Carpenter’s now only accepts families as residents. This includes any family structure with at least one child.

Staff is super supportive and friendly and caring. They appear to be doing everything they possibly can worth the resources they have. The interior was clean and organized. They have regular shelter beds, a day resource area for individuals who have nowhere to go, and a cold weather program that offers extra mats/space during the coldest months of the year.

I went looking for shelter with my wife and 3 year old daughter, we were not accepted. The person who was in charge was very rude even threatened us he would call the police if we didn't leave. If I could rate lower, I would rate them a negative 100. It's unbelievable the way my wife and daughter were treated.

The shelter is good and the resources that the staff chooses to make available are great. The staff on the other hand could be a little more professional. The staff has talked about residents there, has manipulated situations to involve cps when they were unnecessary. Blaire the lead case manager is a complete shrude of a person. She should not work hands on with people
