A must visit museum with the kids with lots of prestige and history behind it. There is a lot to play and enjoy for the kids. The free photo clicked during Christmas time was the perfect gift for the family.
Great museum. We were there during the winter station, which meant it was very busy, but everyone seemed to have lots of fun.
We went to the winter wonderland here and had the best time. Activities included ice skating, a carousel and a family photo! There was also a show on outside. We enjoyed the fresh hot donuts and toasting our own marshmallows.

I highly recommend seeing this museum if you come to Utrecht. We decided to pay a visit as the weather wasn't great and we weren't disappointed at all. It's huge inside with so much to see and do. Super interactive activities for the children and lots facts to be learned. They installed a winter station as it's Christmas so it's a bonus. There were ice rink and eat and drink places. We came after 3pm so only 10 Euro per head to be paid as a discounted fare (but you have to reserve your place online in advance during festive season). Both adults and children would thoroughly enjoy it.
We loved it. The winter station was awesome and there were a lot of activities for kids. The skating rink is awesome with enough space for kids and adults. The collection of trains is great with some very unique carriages. Many places to eat. Easily accessible. No nearby bus stop but there is a sprinter from Utrecht Centraal which runs every hour.
Me and my friend visited this museum and we really enjoyed it. All the history of Netherlands train can be seen here.
There was a show as well which was in Dutch but very funny and really nice experience.

Awesome museum with train theme. They have old trains which we can get on and take a look, and many participation opportunities for the kids.
I will explore more parts on the next visit 😃 the museum is really big so it might take long time to explore all the parts
