Limited parking spots, got $85 ticket within 30mins. But totally worth it since it’s free camping spots. It used to be an secret spots for real campers but this time got 2 large group teenagers party …drunk shouting.. club music … until 3am … feel sad about it, for the natural ,for the young generation as well . The place itself still stunning, hopefully this comment could help more people be more mindful while you camping there . If you could please leave the site clearer than your first arrived. 🙏

Awesome spot

Very good spot to view the lake and swim too.

A large outcrop island in McCrae Lake. Very pretty, great view from the top. There is a good tent spot. Awesome swimming too.

My favorite place to go camping by far. The Portage is definitely a testing one but as the saying goes, hard work pays off.

You have to stop, climb, appreciate the view and then continue to complete your trip!

An iconic landmark for McCrae Lake travelers is the tiny island dubbed Elephant Rock characterized by its high peak of sheer weathered granite crowned by a single tall lonely Pine. Climbing the summit of Elephant Rock is a modest challenge but rewards nimble visitors with a spectacular vista of the McCrae Lake surrounds.
