South Valley Regional Airport

Love this airport and for the all the airplane traffic it creates. Love how it supports aviation in our community and for the support of the national guard. Built in 1942 … going strong!!! Let’s just build a tower now huh!?

The problems caused by this airport are too numerous to describe here, but I'll give it a try.

The runway at the airport is, at its closest, several hundred feet from residential properties separated only by some dirt, a chain link fence, and a road. The noise generated by the aircraft can exceed 110 decibels, easily. The aircraft fly constant circles around commercial and residential properties in West Jordan. In 2022 there were over 79,000 of these kinds of flights associated solely at this airport. And the West Jordan City leadership sits there and applauds this despite making a pittance off it. The airport loses millions of taxpayer dollars every year and basically functions to support a handful of flight training companies. If you are reading this, please contact your local government official and make a complaint. Let's see if we can get this shut down.

I have lived next door for a year now. Cool place and fun to see the training and practice stuff. However about 5am every morning there is a series of loud metal on metal bangs that I can't figure out what it is and my hunch is maybe an aircraft storage building doors opening. It's that the case? Does anybody know what the sound is??

I love the Airport! We have charter jet company out of Las Vegas and now SL valley reg to Denver. With the bigger runways will be done in a few years, will are flying now Bombardier Globals and now we can fly the Boeing business jet 737 into SL valley to all around the the West few times a day! Cannot wait for them to get done so we can get the 737's in.

Awesome airport with an amazing FBO staff. Fly out of here several times per week.

If all of the pilots who like the airport flag the comments of the people who chose to live by an airport and then complain about the noise the comments will be removed due to having nothing to do with the business.

I like the this airport a lot! Great for avgeeks like me that like to plane spot. But why the heck are helicopters flying around like 20 times at 2 in the morning?!? I have woken up too many times to the house shaking. My stages of hearing the helicopters in the middle of the night:
1. I Wake Up
2. I freak out thinking a major earthquake is happening
3. I snap back into reality then realize it's a helicopter
4. I stay awake all night thinking about cookies
5. I write a review on this place.
6. I hope the helicopters don't come back.
7. My dreams come true! I haven't heard them for 6 weeks!
8. I party
9. They come back
10. I get sleep deprived
11. REPEAT

Only pilots are reading these reviews. Great little non towered airport. Obviously not as nice as Provo but we aren’t flying commercial out of the airport. We do have a lot of private jets that have been coming in recently which is very nice and fun to fly with. Fly in on a Sunday and there is nobody in the pattern. Honestly a very fun airport
