Dublin Express

First, as a service to/from the airport, it's convenient and lovely. But that isn't why I'm reviewing.

I used this service for a quick trip to/from Dublin. However, after I had passed through security for my flight, I realized I didn't have my wallet. I suspected it was left on one of the Dublin Express buses so I asked the employees if a wallet had been turned in. I met a lovely person named Allison who went above and beyond to help. She genuinely cared and even offered to get me a coffee since she was concerned I was without money. She took down my details and put me on a bus back into Dublin to try my luck there. About an hour later, she phoned me to tell me she had found the wallet and would keep it safe for me until I was able to pick it up. She had personally tracked and searched the bus I had been on and managed to find it hidden between a seat and the wall. Everything in the wallet was accounted for and she refused to take the tip I offered for being such an incredible help (in addition to being kind and empathetic). She was an absolute lifesaver and I cannot thank her and the others at Dublin Express enough for their help. There are still good people in this world and Allison definitely demonstrated that.

Very friendly and courteous staff on board. The coach was punctual and very comfortable. Added bonus of a toilet on board! Highly recommend for your journey from Belfast to Dublin. Will be using Dublin express for all my Dublin Airport transfers in the future!

Wonderful customer service from Sharon this evening. Can't fault Dublin Express, their staff are always so friendly and accommodating. I was quickly switched onto the next bus after my flight was delayed. Thank you so much!

Great service, clean bus and the driver was so polite we will definitely use it again next time we’re in Dublin. I would also like to give a particular mention to Serena, she was so courteous and let us know exactly where to get off for our hotel and even a few little places around Dublin that we never would have known of otherwise!

We recently used the Dublin Express from Dublin Airport and unfortunately we were disappointed from the start. After purchasing return tickets outside the airport, we joined the queue where the rope was closed off with just a couple of people in front of us. Two buses then left without us, despite not being full. We then waited almost an hour for the next bus to arrive. The journey was fine and when departing at Aston Quay, we were informed by the bus driver we could get back on the bus at this stop for our return journey the next day. That would have been perfect. Except when we tried to do this the next day, the bus driver would not let us on, despite a large group having departed the bus. He told us we had to cross over the bridge, turn right (he motioned and whistled at us) and then left. We managed to find the correct location. Unfortunately though, a bus drove past us without stopping and another stopped further up the road, and despite running to catch it, the driver opened and closed his doors then drove off. We then had to make a call to get a taxi and pay €25 to make our flight as we could not rely on the Dublin Express, despite already paying for the return journey. We have used Air Coach in the past and will be using them again in future as they were much more reliable.

We bought round trip ticket from Dublin Airport Terminal 1 to Belfast (cost €16/person) because they had €8 promotional fares available for travel between 18th July & 31st Aug. 2023. The ride from Dublin Airport to Belfast was very unpleasant and untolerable because there were several drunk college kids on the bus who sang for the whole bus ride because they went to Dublin to watch the football game of Notre Dame vs. Navy the day before. Apparently they were too happy to consider there were other travelers on the bus, and we were bombarded by their singing for 2 hours. The driver did not even try to stop them. The lady who sat next to me said that the driver can stop the bus and demand these college kids to get off the bus. Many of the travelers were so restless, and these kids even run back and forth along the walkway on the bus. The driver also did not help the travelers to get the luggages because some of the luggages were pushed deeply inside the storage under the bus. Very unpleasant experiences.

However, the driver of the bus from Belfast back to Dublin airport was very nice to help us to get on the earlier bus because we arrived the coash station early. Overall, the bus is new and clean, and considering the low cost of the bus, do not expect too much of the quality and service.

I bought a return trip ticket for €14 (one way is €10, not €7 as Google Maps describes) at the airport. My ride from the airport to the city center was pleasant, easy and direct.

HOWEVER, the return trip was a pain. First of all, the buses are completely off the schedule they provided on their website (there should have been 3 buses during the time i waited but there were none). Second of all, after waiting at the stop for 30 mins, a staff member showed up and said the next bus (in 15 mins) is full and we’d have to wait for the following on (another 15-min wait) AND there is no guarantee unless you have a reserved ticket booked from their website. I ended up waiting for a total of one hour. There were people who have been waiting for awhile too and couldn’t get on.

Oh btw, the window on the top of the bus wasn’t closed properly so water droplets were dripping onto some customers.

Bottom line: It is NOT RELIABLE. If you’re traveling solo, want to save money and you have time to kill, you can try. If you’re with others, Uber or Taxi is worth it.
