All Day Bar

Scam. I have to admit, the old guy nearly bagged me. Was having an ice cream nearby and he sits down and asks me where I'm from. Turns out his "brother" owns a Greek restaurant in my city. But we can't find it with Google. Hmm. But he's charming and fun. And he wants to bring me to his "taverna" where he has the address and name of his brother's place. He pays for my ice cream (I had not paid yet). On the way to his place he starts telling me how I have to try an Ouzo and Orange.

Next thing I know I'm in this seedy place, and I immediately realize I'm in a "gentleman's" bar of some kind. An "ouzo and orange juice" appears on the bar, he has one also, and we clink glasses and have a sip. Next thing I know he's introducing me to one of the girls and my Spidey sense goes into high gear. She claims to be Greek but I'm hearing an Eastern European accent. She says "it's just conversation.". I ask about the other guy. And ask if he's the owner. She says he just works here. And that was that.

I stood up, said I wasn't comfortable with the situation and was leaving. All of a sudden my new buddy shows up to convince me to stay. I decline, then he asks me to pay for the drink. I say no. He asks again, and I think I may have laughed on his face, "Are you kidding me? You invited me here and you brought me that drink.". He looked over at another guy who just kinda shrugged and waived me on my way. I paid nothing.

DO NOT PAY! They will not call for police and can do nothing. While you are in - they can't cheat other tourists, so they will be interested that you go out as quick as possible. I had not pay anything. Fight for your rights!

Modus Operandi : Old Man with walking stick will approach you infront of the Acropoli Metro. Invite to buy your first drink, then in the bar bring in girls which their champagne (30€) will be put on your tab. Waitress asked for 200€ but managed to escape by pretending to go to the atm to withdraw. The bouncer is a tall old guy with white hair infrontof the bar, as you can see. The other guy next to him is the russian boss. They didn't bother chasing since i was making a huge commotion and paid the right amount. Im just pissed they inflated the price and threatened me, i am pretty sure i can take them on easily hahahha.

This is an absolute scam. They bring you in with conversation and then they make up prices for the drinks.

These kind of places should be reported on the police, scam bar with shady probably Russian bar-tenders and oldie bouncers making sure, that you’re going to pay for an „offered drink”. Lost 10€ there

Terrible! All other reviews are true. My boyfriend was out looking for ice cream when the old man approached him to come see "his bar". It was framed that the man would buy my bf a drink. The bartender poured herself a 40euro glass of champagne and when he went to leave was stuck with the 50euro bill. It was clear that they were trying to get him to stay and drink to rack up an inflated bill. They had two bouncers to make sure people pay. Disgraceful and clearly targeting tourists.

Was approached by the Old Man himself a week ago when I was in Athens. Sporting his set of bright white fake teeth, and his fucci swag, the Old Man is a master of the small talk. He probably knows your language and some facts about your country. Careful with your ego! He will stroke it, and when you look back around, you’ll find yourself inside his den. The bar, of course has nothing to offer but peril to your wallet (and your physical integrity?).

There are no free drinks, anywhere in the world - everything comes at a cost. Once he’s done asking you for the time, or for directions, or “giving you his card” or asking you about your city, or whatever fabricated reality he crafted specially just for you this time, he’ll ditch you. Those fake teeth are no longer smiling.

Leave while you can. Don’t fall for the Old Man’s smile.

Obviously 1 star for the fact that this bar is just a sc am central to try to swindle tourists.

However, I gotta give it to the guy. How often do you get such an experience? Everyone loves going to escape rooms, but when you’re provided an experience like this you get mad?

One extra star for being complimented by a stubby greek mafi oso and for the thrilling experience of being dragged to a por nographic hellhole and put in fight or flight mode.

Getting lured by the true Old Man himself feels like you just popped a brand new, fresh Cyberpunk brain dance. You dont get this experience every day, so enjoy your time with the Old Man - just don’t drink his craft beer or his Uzo or whatever he offers you this time.
